Combo chow mein and sesame chicken
    Jennifer C.

We came here once before and had a great experience but this time the food was mediocre at best. Got the combo chow mein, sesame chicken everyone seems to love, and the fried calamari appetizer. Calamari was the worst - had a very fishy taste and just overall not enjoyable. Chow mein was fine, if a bit oily, and the sesame chicken was fine, but nothing that would force me to come back. That said, I'll give them another go if I'm craving Chinese food and will just hope it rebounds back to how it was before.

17383 Hesperian Blvd San Lorenzo, CA 94580 On a Saturday, I stopped for a quick lunch here while driving thru San Lorenzo. It's small restaurant, with only around 10-12 tables. There's a shared parking lot in the back of the building. There was only one waitress. She offered me a table, and gave me a menu and ice water. I just ordered a medium sized bowl of Wor Won Ton Soup. Service was pretty fast. My soup was ready in about 5 mins. It was a beautiful bowl of Won Ton Soup. It was loaded with shredded veggies, some shrimp, plump dumplings, and thin strips of meat. The broth was mild, and needed a dash of soy sauce sauce. When the waitress asked me how I liked the soup, I told her the strips of meat were a bit tough and hard to eat. She adjusted the bill, and gave me a discount on my soup. She apologized for the overcooked meat in the soup. Thank you, I will come again.

The food here is amazing! I went today for lunch and ordered online, which was super convenient. I got the Mongolian Beef lunch special with steamed rice, and it was ready right when I arrived. The ambience has chill vibes, and the server/cashier was very friendly. Great experience overall! I recommended this place, hands down.

Decided to give Hunan a try after craving some Chinese food, and I'm glad I did! Ordered for pickup and the food was ready quick. My bf and I tried the sesame chicken, beef and broccoli, beef chow mein and steamed rice (not pictured). The beef chow mein is the best I've had hands down. The noodles were thick and cooked to perfection. Flavor was on point not too salty and the beef within was melt in your mouth tender. The beef and broccoli was good but definitely had more broccoli than beef. The sesame chicken wasn't my favorite. It was a little too crispy and sticky in the way that it was hard to chew. Flavor was there, but the texture was eh. I'll be back to try more!

We really like this place and are loyal customers, unfortunately tonight my husband opened his potstickers to find them burnt. Not sure if they felt comfortable giving us burnt food because we were ordering take out but pretty disappointing. $12 wasted.

Way to go San Lorenzo! My cousin, a native of the Village, hooked it up & told me about this place. They have terrific lunch specials which includes 2 different soup options, entree, steamed of fried rice. Reasonable price! The restaurant is clean & owners are friendly. Many people walking in & out ordering & picking up food by 11:30am. I was impressed. I ordered the Sesame Chicken & it was delicious. I enjoyed the Egg Drop Soup for my soup option. I forgot to take a photo of the soup! I dined-in so I could relax & enjoy a bit of solo time. I will definitely return & try out other dishes. They've been open since the mid 90's I recall the owner telling me. Nice folks!

    Sesame Beef

I ordered delivery and it was packaged cleanly and attractively. The Sesame Beef was crisp and tender, utter perfection. The Fried Fresh Squids in Salt & Pepper were also tender and flavorful. This was the experience I was hoping and looking for, will definitely order again.

Ordered take out on a weekday over the phone and the food was ready to pick up when I arrived. The food is made to order and is piping hot when I got it which I appreciate. The staff is super friendly and the place looks clean. I ordered 2 lunch specials - beef with broccoli and Hunan chicken. The food is overly seasoned - either too sweet or too salty. Based on what I ordered, I will say this place serves americanized Chinese food rather then authentic Chinese food.

1st time here This place is amazing!!!! You feel welcomed, the service was great and the food was delicious.

Has the prices on Grubhub went up? We added 4 items on the app and it was $82 after all fees. Surely this can't be right?

On Door Dash, I noticed that there is delivery for Hunan but I don't see my Crispy Chicken with Jalapeno on their menu. Is this not available for delivery?

As you make your way to your seat the hostess brings you a small bowl of fried peanuts with hot tea, which is super generous. The booths and tables remind me of my childhood traditional Chinese restaurant back in Fresno, ca yet with a modern twist, in my opinion portions are generous as well which is inviting for a family feast...well done tasty Szechuan.

All dishes came out as we hoped/expected with both the chicken and fish providing the nummy sensation that is unique to Szechuan cuisine. We threw in the eggplant order because we wanted some veggies and something that didn't overtly threaten to numb our palettes and were very happy with that as well. Chicken was fried well and not dry at all which was a lovely experience. Fish was also flavorful and enjoyable to eat, although perhaps the least memorable of the dishes. I wouldn't NOT get any of the dishes again and might elevate the chicken as a must get if you're there for the a Szechuan experience. Well probably come back the next time we get a craving for that nummy feeling.

There's usually a pretty good line right by the register, so this place is pretty well known by the Asian locals. Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup ($16/2*) First outing here I sat for lunch and tried this. Surprisingly disappointing seeing how busy and popular this place is. The wontons were okay, decent flavor with a strong sesame oil presence. But they weren't that plump and luxurious, just seemed like homemade/amateur versions. Which is fine, except given the nicer restaurant feel, I just expected something more elevated. The noodles were fine, super thin egg noodles that had a nice QQ. BUT their broth was so bland and unremarkable that it kinda ruined the whole experience. I couldn't even taste/detect the protein that made up the stock, just tasted like murky liquid to me. And zero condiments on the table, so I just ate the wontons and the plain tasting noodles cuz the broth couldn't offer anything to the noodles. Womp womp. And their bowl of choice is very weird to eat from. Super tall bowl that if you leave a spoon in there it will sink and be submerged for you to fish out...in piping hot liquid. If I would have reviewed this place just on this one visit, then it surely would have been a sub 3* rating. But I knew I couldn't leave my impression with that one lone visit. Roast Duck - Half ($20/4*) Came back for some take-out deli items and I was handsomely rewarded. Total 180 experience from the soup outing. Their ducks here are slightly more expensive than most others for the area. But it is still worth it imo. They cut it with good skill and even for a take-out box they present it nicely, with the shape of duck still somewhat intact. The skin is not crisp at all but it is very well rendered. Some pieces were not that salty at all but some other pieces are well seasoned, which I thought was strange. But overall a very solid roast duck is to be found here. There's also a big scoop of these tiny beans that are slightly sweet almost like baked beans just not as gloopy. But the bean texture is very al dente, almost crunchy, which I found very strange. Macao Roast Pork w/ Rice ($19/4.5*) This is crazy good...I'll even say special. Super seasoned pork belly is roasted til the skin gets crisp...like chicharon status, except it is just a very thin layer of crispness. So the balance between the sturdy crunch and juicy flavorful meat was practically perfect. It is definitely on the salty side, almost the same intenseness as eating Spam with white rice, but white rice offsets those salty components beautifully. And they garnish this massive plate with perfectly blanched gai lan (Chinese Broccoli) and some other pickled greens that add a nice sweet and tangy component. So between the decadent pork, white rice and diverse greens offerings just made this a complete one stop shop that could make a regular out of me. There's also a Share Tea next door so I've got a harmonious tandem going on here. Lucky Ducky Me yassss!

The baked pork buns are good - slightly different in that there's no glaze on them but the outside was crispy and the inside tender and the filling was tasty - they are why I'm giving 2 stars. The honey walnut prawns were inedible - the sauce was hard lumpy globs sitting randomly on top of fried shrimps, truly disgusting. The scallion pancakes were not crispy or flaky - Trader Joe's are better. The tofu rolls were cold on one side, like refrigerator cold, while the other side was lukewarm. The jellyfish salad had no flavor whatsoever, just the very slightest hint of sesame. No salt, nothing. The seaweed salad was decent. The deep fried mochi puffs with meat filling were bad. The outer shell was too thick so the inside was uncooked and doughy. Inedible. And, the cold chicken feet were so tough they were in edible. I didn't know you could make chicken feet like that, so tough. Again not really any flavor, they were just tossed with a little bit of chili sauce and hardly any of that. And no vinegar chili sauce for dipping. I would not recommend.
