Edit review 9/13/2020 1 photo Excellent tasting Saturday. So glad they were able to reopen even if quite limited by Covid rules. The wine was superb. Took home a few bottles, among which was the truly outstanding 2015 Petite Sirah Gold Stripe. I would put this against any Petite Sirah anywhere; it is that good. Faith was managing the tasting room and she was very top rate and knowledgeable. Of course we are club members at Mosley, and we try and get to Mosley events and tastings when new wines are being introduced or when the stars are in alignment and we could use some good old fashioned friendly service, great wine and good company. Mosley Family Cellars offers it all.

Inviting tasting room

As a wine club member at Moseley, there are a lot of good things I can say. But I will start with the most important thing - how is the wine? It's great! Seriously, it's really good. I don't care for sweet wines - they have an excellent dessert wine but you will be hard pressed to find a sweet. Despite being on the drier side, these wines are balanced. So well balanced, these wines are award wining. I recommend the Everyday Rose - Cabernet Sauvignon. It's an easy drinking crowd pleaser - maybe a little to easy to drink haha COVID-19 Adjustments: They have done an amazing job adapting to the COVID-19 challenges. They list all the steps they are taking online, if you are interested. They have also introduced Friday night Picnic on the Lawn - social distancing, safe, and fun with live music. Buy wine by the glass or bottle and enjoy your Friday night out of the house. Bring the makings of a charcuterie board and you'll forget there is even a pandemic.

My group YPN of Shasta Association of Realtors recently put on an amazing event at Moseley's Cellars!!! All I can say is WOW what an amazing atmosphere and setting for the 120 that attended! Mimi is such a great hostess and she was great with the guests!! I would hands down do more events here!! And the wine is amazing ;)

We were so lucky to find Moseley Family Cellars!! We were 18 women and Mimi was nice enough to let us enjoy the beautiful Barrel room for our tasting...wine was flowing and the ambience was just lovely...we couldn't have picked a better place. We left with smiles and great wine!! I must to visit if you are in the Redding area!

Ask the Community - Moseley Family Cellars

It states not good for kids... so, not good for kids to be there?

Hey there! Children are welcome, but it can be boring for them to wait while adults sample wine. It's a great family atmosphere, and as long as kids aren't near the bar we are fine. They can play outside if parents are ok with that...

They have many varietals and the quality is top notch for all, plus priced exceptionally well. A tasting is a remarkably inexpensive $10, comped if you buy a bottle. It's well worth the price. The property is owned and operated by a group of Trappist Cistercian monks. There's a lot of information to read about them and the history on placards on the property. The property is fascinating in itself and they also have a centuries old portion of a abbey from Spain reconstructed on the property. It was purchased by William Randolph Hearst and the stone blocks stored in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco for decades. They were donated to the monks here with the understanding it be recreated on the site. It has been, and magnificent. The wine tasting is very informative and the knowledgeable staff will walk through each selection. This may be a bit far afield but well worth the trip.

This one I've been wanting for visit for many years due to its ties to Sierra Nevada Brewing nearby and also the story of the abbey stores from Europe. Mix that with the original owners of the areas, murder, and ghost stories in Hawaii, it makes for a fascinating visit! I'll spare the long history to be enjoyed on your visit. This entire region is fruit orchards and beautiful fields. New Clairvaux sits as part of a vineyard that was much larger long ago. The current vineyard is easy to get to with clearly marked signs and plenty of parking. Inside the barn you'll find the wine shop and gift shops, which you can also do tours and tastings. It's also an event space. The monastery is nearby down a shaded path, but visiting is restricted. The church is also nearby, which incorporates stones from an ancient abbey in Europe that themselves took an amazing and long journey to and up here. The gardens and vines are worth walking through, it's a beautiful area. We all decided to do the basic tasting tour where they share the history and stories while you taste. If you're a wine or history buff, this one is worth visiting.

The wife/owner was a lovely woman served our tasting. The tasting room was a combination of vintage, wine and craft gift shop with a wonderful tasting bar to sample the wines. We tried the Chardonnay, Rose', Merlot, and Harvest Rogue. The tasting is $5 a person and is waived with purchase. Each wine was wonderful and we bought one bottle of each! Their wines were reasonably priced around $20. Also, we called the day before to see if they were open. There was no answer and 20 minutes later we received a call back, from Ernie asking what they could do for us! Also my son made friends with their sweet doggie!

We tried the the Chardonnay, Rose', Red Blend, Merlot, and late harvest red. All very well made. Wine maker Ernie knows what he is doing, and the delightfully affable wine pourer Crystal provides the finishing touch for an enjoyable wine tasting experience. The grounds surrounding the tasting room are green and colorful and very well kept. They're a perfect spot to sit back and enjoy a picnic with a bottle of wine. The Pinot Gris and Cab Sauv weren't ready on the day we tasted, so we'll be coming back soon! Tasting fee is $5, which is waived with a purchase of two very reasonably priced wines.
