I'm genuinely bummed that I don't live in Redding to make visiting the Moseley Family Cellars tasting room a more frequent occurrence! The historic Thompson House is the perfect backdrop for wine tasting. The thing I love most about MFC is that it doesn't feel like a wine bar. It's got wine and a bar... but it feels like you're hanging out at your trendy friend's house. There's a living room area with fireplace, a dining room, a front porch with a cafe table & chairs, and big front lawn with Adirondack chairs in pairs & quads. Truly a choose your own pleasure! We couldn't pass up the perfect late spring afternoon, so I sunk into a deep Adirondack chair and enjoyed my wine tasting al fresco. The neon sign in the front window is the cutest, and just added to the overall vibe. Chuck was so hospitable, and brought me each pour from his post behind the bar inside. He gave insight into each wine, and then disappeared so I could enjoy at my own pace. MFC is very dog friendly, inside too, but I can't think of anywhere I've been in recent memory that was more perfect than wine tasting here on the front lawn with my pup in my lap. The BEST wine tasting I have had. I usually can pick two or three from a flight that I like, but it was so hard to pick because I really enjoyed all of them. We had to bring some home with us. They are located in downtown at the Thompson House and the owner is sooooo nice. It's clean and calm, perfect for a date night or evening with friends. I highly recommend this place. read more

Of course we are club members at Mosley, and we try and get to Mosley events and tastings when new wines are being introduced or when the stars are in alignment and we could use some good old fashioned friendly service, great wine and good company. As a wine club member at Moseley, there are a lot of good things I can say. But I will start with the most important thing - how is the wine? It's great! Seriously, it's really good. I don't care for sweet wines - they have an excellent dessert wine but you will be hard pressed to find a sweet. Despite being on the drier side, these wines are balanced. So well balanced, these wines are award wining. I recommend the Everyday Rose - Cabernet Sauvignon. It's an easy drinking crowd pleaser - maybe a little to easy to drink haha COVID-19 Adjustments: They have done an amazing job adapting to the COVID-19 challenges. They list all the steps they are taking online, if you are interested. They have also introduced Friday night Picnic on the Lawn - social distancing, safe, and fun with live music. Buy wine by the glass or bottle and enjoy your Friday night out of the house. Bring the makings of a charcuterie board and you'll forget there is even a pandemic. read more

We visited this winery for the 1st time on our way to Shasta Lake. It's definitely a hidden gem! Jane, the server, was so pleasant and warm. She instantly made us feel welcomed. And the wine! The wine rivals those wineries in Napa and Sonoma! The gold label mouvedre was our favorite... the grenache was yummy too. And their sweet wines are divine also. AND the prices are VERY reasonable...on average around $30 a bottle...some closer to $25. Their gold label is a little more $ but totally worth it! The winemaker and owner Marty came and had some wine with us. So kind and hospitable! He had us taste some of the special reserve wines...delicious! Just a great host. All together a wonderful experience. So wonderful that we joined the wine club! read more

What, an amazing winery in Redding? I recently drove up from Sonoma county to visit my family in Redding and they introduced me to this great winery. They have a large variety of wines available that are made from grapes sourced from my favorite locations. I'm a sucker for a good Oregon Pinot and the wine maker has done a great job at producing a few really great ones. Along with a bottle of Pinot I had to come home with a 2015 Lake County Merlot. You should definitely give this place a try if you like wine and are in the Redding area. read more

Had a wonderful time tasting on a Saturday afternoon to celebrate a friend's birthday. Our ages ranged from 29 to 75 and everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. Their tasting room is warm, inviting and beautifully decorated. Since we were in a group, we were able to use the Barrel Room, which had amazing ambiance. The wine tasting is very reasonable with a good selection and variety of wines. The owners are very hospitable, knowledgeable and passionate about their wines and the love of their product shines through. Their motto "come as guests, leave as family" couldn't be more accurate. We all ended up purchasing some of their award winning wines. I highly recommend the Sauvignon Blanc and their Cabernet Sauvignon, both of which I purchased. I have already prebooked my birthday party in their Barrel Room, though it is not for several months. I am sure I will be back soon since you really do feel like family when you leave. Oh man, so you choose your wines, tasting fee is $10 and there's a beautiful German shepherd!! But what else? Mimi Moseley was manning the tasting room. She is absolutely lovely and provided a super welcoming experience. There were scones! The wine list is expansive, boasting some whites that aren't buttery or popcorn-y and beautiful, lush reds. Went there on New Years day with my family. First time I visited a Redding winery, so I wasn't sure what to expect--but I wasn't expecting much. Luckily, I was blown away both by the hospitality and of the quality of the wine! Marty (one of the co-owners) brings a much needed southern charm to the north state both with his gift of story telling and wine knowledge. He patiently described each wine and walked us though it's changing characteristics as it warmed. I love love love Moseley Family Cellars - it's such a great experience from the moment you first walk in. The are originally from the South, so they have that Southern Hospitality thing mastered. The wines are great, and I love buying them to take to friends for dinner parties and holidays. They do lots of events at the winery, so it's not just a tasting room. Mimi and Marty are also very well established in the community and do lots of things to bring about good in Redding. I can't speak more highly about them and their winery. Bravo!! read more

This Gem has been in Redding for years, but I only just discovered it a few months ago. The wine is delicious, I've enjoyed them all...it would be hard to pick a favorite! Mimi and Marty are super friendly and welcoming. When you step into the tasting room it feels like you just showed up for drinks at a friends house! They also rent out their barrel room for events. I've booked it for a bridal shower I'm throwing and Mimi has been fantastic to work with! If you haven't stopped in for wine tasting you MUST. My only complaint is that the tasting room isn't open more often! read more
