I have worked with Moss Wellness twice now for two different issues. One was Leaky Gut - which they COMPLETELY cured me!!! Such a miracle because I felt like my life was over with the amount of pain I was in.. The other, and most recent was my struggle with a reoccurring itchy skin issue, which I've had for 20 years - tinea versicolor. In the past, I had only been prescribed anti-fungal pills that destroyed my stomach and ointments that did not work by dermatologists. This is a cliche statement but its true: "Moss Wellness changed my life." Growing up, I used to joke that I had an iron stomach. I could eat anything and never get sick. Sure, I had weight issues all of my life, I was always a "big girl". But when I was in my teens, 20's and early 30's, I would "watch what I ate" or follow the Weight Watchers program and the weight would fall off and stay off. Then I got older. A back injury limited my gym use (not to mention, constant back pain - putting me in a constant bad mood). The weight stopped falling off. In fact, it seemed to build on quicker. And then all of a sudden, I found myself with tummy issues, indigestion after almost every meal, constipation, gas, and horrible bloat. I went out with friends less and less stating back pain as the culprit - but really I didn't want to have to look in the mirror. And then, at 39, my doctor told me I MIGHT need to get a heart valve replaced. I can't have heart surgery, my back hurts too much! That did it. I realized I needed to make a change, not only for my physical health but emotional too. I started physical therapy for my back, found Moss Wellness on Yelp, did some research and booked my first consultation with Andrea. What can I say... she really listened to me and was so enthusiastic that she could help me. She had me believe in myself in the first minutes of the phone call. The second I got off the phone, I knew this was the right one for me and I chose the 6 month Restart program. She paired me up with my coach, Dawn. I knew before I started that this would be a lot of hard work and I was fully committed (I HAD to be, I paid for it after all). Before each session, you have to fill out a questionnaire which is extremely helpful to steer your meetings with your coach. Speaking of, Dawn and I hit it off immediately. She too really listened to me and was always encouraging and answered my questions. I'll admit, when I saw the description and cookbook for the initial cleanse, I panicked. I'm a take-out/microwave girl, and here I had to stop eating ALL processed foods and COOK my own? Eek. But I did it. Looking back, that cleanse was the best thing and the hardest thing about this process. Long story short, through the 6-month process, I discovered I have a slight dairy and gluten intolerance. I learned what substitutes I can make. I learned an entirely different way of eating that was nutritious and delicious. My bread, sugar, caffeine cravings went away. I started cooking for myself and learning tricks to make food yummy (ie, eating whole foods meant I could eat AVOCADO which is like dessert to me.). I was losing weight, I had energy without caffeine, I was back at the gym having completed physical therapy. Dawn was with me throughout the process, cheering me on and encouraging me not to give up. At the end of the six months, I had lost 30 pounds. My back was feeling stronger and I was back at the gym full time. I was grocery shopping and cooking every week and I even planned a four-course meal for my best friends as a thank you for their support! Side note, I also found enough confidence in myself to join some online dating websites and snagged me a boyfriend! It's now been 3 months since I ended the program and I just turned 40. I lost an additional 7 pounds, I'm still cooking (and cooking for others), I'm still exercising (I started to learn to RUN), I'm still eating healthy. Sure, I cheat and indulge. Oh my goodness -- I am so excited to write this review. My History: I participated in approximately 7 wellness reboots (which occur just about every quarter) from Spring 2011 to Spring 2013, and then worked directly with Andrea's colleague, Jackie, for a 6 month "Radiant Health Process," or put simply 6 months of nutrition coaching. The review that follows is specifically about my work with Jackie, but in general I give Andrea and her team a GLOWING 5 stars. They are smart, thorough, well prepared, professional, supportive, and a true pleasure to work with. Re: My 6 month Radiant Health Process: Jackie and I spoke on the phone twice a month, every month, for six consecutive months. The program was clearly spelled out to me before we even spoke on the phone via information sent by email. Jackie was always on time for our calls, always well prepared, and always responded promptly when I contacted her outside of our scheduled times. She was a great leader -- helped me fine tune my larger goals and break them down into smaller, easier to accomplish goals month-to-month, and was sure to note when I had reached them (and to celebrate with me!) She was really great at coming up with solutions to problems I thought were unsolvable (for instance, when I felt like there would be no satisfying replacement for dairy in my life, she had many, many excellent suggestions that I still utilize to this day). She was flexible, caring, and clever. She definitely knows her stuff. Best of all, I could tell Jackie really cared about me and the work I was doing, and was a great support during a time of many changes. I ended my work with Jackie in April of 2014 but have continued to progress on my own, and I'm sure that my solo successes have been a direct result of my work with her. Having the support and accountability that 6 months of coaching gives facilitated the discipline that goes along with taking good care of myself through my diet. At this point I am I'm totally free of coffee (do you hear me? TOTALY FREE and loving it), dairy, most soy, simple carbs, and I make 90% of my meals at home. My sleep is longer and better quality. I have twice as much energy as I used to. I learned how to truly care for myself. It took A LOT of work, and was not always easy. After over a decade of working with a variety of doctors, specialist, surgeons and more, I was unable to treat my chronic acid-reflux and uncomfortable digestion issues without daily doses of medication with side effects and no healing properties. I had attempted a wide variety of options with no luck. Just more of "take these same pills", which only treated my symptoms and not the actual cause. I loved working with Moss Wellness. Both Andrea and Jackie are extremely knowledgeable and caring. Before I worked with Jackie I felt lost when it came to making good decisions regarding my nutrition. Although I tried to be healthy I did not know what my specific needs for my body were. I struggled with insomnia, restless legs, anxiety, and was also looking for help with nutritional advice while I trained for marathons. Since working with Jackie, I now feel lighter and more comfortable in my body. I know I am eating better because I feel so much better. I no longer struggle with insomnia and no longer need to take prescription medication for that. Jackie also found an iron deficiency which cured my restless legs and helped ease anxiety I had. I've discovered many new food options that taste great and are healthier than what I was eating before. Most of all the changes were rather small which made them easier but they made a huge difference. My results have been astounding. I was not sure I would ever sleep regularly again and that was the very first change we tackled. Jackie also listened to any fears I had and was intercepting of my likes and dislikes of certain foods. I never felt pressured to to do anything I didn't want to. I felt she went out of her way to find as many options to try as possible when conquering my sweet tooth and working with my lack of cooking skills, an oven, and even a microwave. Most of all she made it easy. She also worked with me when it came to exercise. I run several marathons a year and was happy she never tried to talk me out of that and instead gave me all the nutritional advice I would need specific to my training needs. One of our final sessions was the most memorable. After accomplishing all the goals we had set, we discussed what that meant moving forward and how I could continue to stay on the healthy path and accept my body for what it can do versus what it looks like and not yo yo on more extreme diets. Before I worked with Andrea I juggled a balancing act of issues with my thyroid gland for over a decade. I dealt with thyroid issues while trying to live my youth to the fullest however it eventually lead to a thyroid cancer diagnosis resulting in full thyroid gland removal surgery and post-op radioactive iodine treatment. I came to Moss Wellness at a time when I was run down, stressed and traveling a lot for work. I always struggled to keep a positive body image, and tended to eat the same foods and balance this with exercising religiously to maintain my weight. I cannot say enough about Andrea Moss of Moss Wellness. I was hospitalized for a week last year after becoming quite ill, and was sent home with basic information and a few hand outs about what I should eat on my road to recovery. Suffice it to say, it was a huge adjustment and it wasn't very helpful. I started working with Andrea, and she dug down to the bottom of my issues, made sure she understood all of the medical history and what was recommended, and then helped me create a plan that included some additional testing to really get to the bottom of exactly what supplements I needed and a diet that supported my health but was tailored to my lifestyle. Andrea really takes the time to get to know who you are as a person, and what would be most realistic in terms of a daily diet- for example, she understands it's not always feasible for me to cook at home, so we went through local take out menus to identify the best choices. Over the years, I had unsuccessfully attempted to motivate my mother to seek professional help in regard to her health challenges. Her primary challenge was in losing the weight. I came to Andrea with the goal in mind to lose a few pounds before my wedding but also gain an understanding of what foods to eat in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle and feel my absolute best. I was eating out constantly and travelling almost half of the year for work so was finding it challenging to make good food choices. Andrea was incredible! She taught me how to make healthy choices and gave me foods I could travel with so that I didn't have to sacrifice healthy eating while away from home.
