I located this store through its Facebook advertisement for a beautiful waterfall antique dresser. The price was incredibly low (& unfortunately for me it sold before I arrived today). The shoppe's business card reads, "Shoes $3 / Clothes $2 / Ties $1 / Baby Clothes $.50 -- Vintage Items, Antiques, Unique Finds, Furniture, Electronics, Phone Chargers, Jewelry, Books & so much more!" Donations can be picked up from your home, & a tax receipt will be issued. You can check out this shoppe's Facebook page. There are quality vintage items & antiques to be found here. The merchandise moves quickly due to the low prices. Salesperson Vicky was very friendly & happily answered all of my questions. I left w/ a generous invite to her church & a "God Bess," but there was no pressure to join. Just a lovely lady! The fish monger has fresh fish. I love the variety and he has ice to keep it safe for the ride home. I'd bring a cooler. I bring my rolling cart/stroller. You'll be glad you did. Your hoard gets heavy. There's plenty of produce. My favorite day to go is on Sunday morning. Nothing's cheap but it's not as expensive as places like Publix, Earth Fare or Sprouts. Information regarding pricing or what was in stock was impossible to find so I had to go and check it out first hand. I was greeted upon immediately walking in. This place is way bigger than I thought it would be. I started browsing the book shelves that were in front and worked my way back towards the store. I only looked through the fiction section but noticed a huge selection of other genres like Sci Fi and Adult Romance. There was also a children's section in the back. Walking towards the front of the store, there were shelves with DVDs as well. In the middle of the store, there's a little lounge section with comfortable chairs and tables to read at. I was carrying several books so I decided to grab a shopping basket. They have the cool ones that have wheels and suitcase like handles. I finally made my way to the register and chatted with the employee. She asked if I found everything i was looking for, to which I did not. She offered to look up titles I wanted and even though they did not have any in the store, she offered to put my information in the system if those books do show up. I purchased 6 books and paid almost $20. Not horrible but I thought for sure it would be cheaper. They have a buy back program, where you receive store credits but I forgot to inquire about the details. Of course I will be back!

Thus, I had no choice but to visit the shop and investigate the source of my earthly entanglement. What I discovered was a charming collection of furniture and curiosities at wonderfully reasonable prices. The selection was pretty decent, with plenty of pieces to browse through, and the staff were absolutely fantastic--friendly, helpful, and far less frightened of me than most living people tend to be. I will say, however, that the interior was hotter than the deepest chamber of the underworld. Thankfully, they had fans running and water available, which helped keep both the living and the dead from melting into the floorboards. Naturally, I ended up purchasing a piece of furniture of my own. Unfortunately, it came with a rather unpleasant surprise: another ghost was haunting it. I was forced to consult a priest, prepare the proper incense, and conduct a full spiritual removal ceremony. After several hours of chanting, negotiating, and threatening to call upon forces far older than mankind, we finally discovered that the malevolent spirit wanted only $3.75. A bargain, really. All things considered, the Ol' Packing House is well worth visiting. The prices are excellent, the staff are wonderful, and there is a good variety of furniture waiting to be discovered. Just bring a bottle of water, prepare for the heat, and be sure to inspect any antique furniture carefully. You never know what--or who--may be included in the purchase price.
