Mr. Javier is a rare shoe repair craftsman and noble artisan. I brought three pairs of old British Church's leather shoes that need love and care. One of them has some serious cracks. I have asked him to completely restore and re-sole them. One of them will have to be extended. ($35). I have used him in the past and i was very satisfied with the work. As a cobbler Mr. Javier takes real pride in his work. He takes the time to make things right and can rebuild a shoe completely if need be. This is a rare skills that is disappearing rapidly in our country. He brings more than 40 years of knowledge and dedicated craftsmanship. A new sole in leather is around $85 which is not cheap but we all know that inflation has dramatically increased pricing in all businesses. read more

Javier is friendly, knowledgeable, and charges a very reasonable price for his work. I recently picked up a pair of beautiful $300 leather boots (new with tags on) at a consignment shop. They fit perfectly in the foot, but were unfortunately too small for my calf. Given that I got them for the complete steal price of $25, I knew I would be able to find someone to add a gusset or other alteration so that they would fit me. Javier of the Most Popular Shoe Repair was that person! I dropped the boots off a week ago, and am picking them up today. I am writing this review now, since he actually took the time to call me yesterday and see if I would be able to come in, if it wouldn't be too much trouble for me, to try them on before he completed stitching the last seams. He wanted to be really sure that they would be perfect for me. What great customer service! I stopped in, since it is just on my way home from work, very conveniently located in the heard of downtown El Paso. They fit perfectly, and were beautifully re-crafted. Well worth the very reasonable price of $55 that he charged me to do the work. There was a seam or two left unfinished, and I confirmed that he would have that done and ready for me to pick up by noon today. I've taken several shoes here for heel caps and he always does great work that lets me wear my shoes for much longer. Recently I took him a pair of pricey Manolo Blahniks to see if he could stretch the leather a bit to make them fit more comfortably. I was nervous because the shoes are lined in satin and I didn't want them to get damaged. Javier did amazing work and was able to get them stretched without any damage or any noticeable change in the outside. He definitely knows what he is doing. Best shoe repair in town. read more
