I will never stay at motel 6 again! You definitely get what you pay for! I will stick with best western from now on! This place is the only hotel that doesn't give shampoo and the beds are horrible. If you want to party and don't plan on sleeping much this is the place for you. Don't come here with small children people are constantly out side partying and yelling profanities. Upon check in the clerk gave me a key to an occupied room. The guest staying there was out of the room but I could see all his stuff. Thank goodness I didn't walk in on him. I received a voucher for one night due to the conditions in a motel 6 in Albuquerque, NM so decided to use it before expiration date while in Carpenteria California. The condition of the room was very dirty, bad energy. Outside trash bins full to the brim. The management was okay, not too friendly. I booked three nights with my mom, the rooms are super clean, no refrigerator or microwave and you have to pay for wifi, however the only reason I am giving a 5 star rating is because of Cody. He has the best customer service and went more than the extra mile for me. He knows how to keep calm and make you feel at home and more than just a guest passing thru the city. I'm not one to complain... I am one to look at my glass half full but this is one time I couldn't! My friend surprised me with a getaway trip to carpenteria; she booked this hotel after looking at pictures and was excited that the hotel said renovated. I met her on Saturday morning on 10/15/16; she had to go potty really bad and asked the reservationist if she could use their bathroom before signing in as she had driven a considerable distance, she said she didn't have one which was strange but she said we could have our room now but it's a smoking room and that they clean it so well there was no odor, ready to piss her pants she agreed... We literally ran to the room and was grateful there wasn't any smoke odor; as of yet! We unloaded the cars and my boys with tails and headed out to breakfast. Later that day we went back opened the door and OMG the smell was horrendous! I guess we got there in the morning right after they had cleaned it! We opened the window and left the door cracked we than began unpacking to look around the room to realize how FILTHY the room was; there was food and grime on every part of the walls... cigarette burns on the tub and floor! The shower had mold so no taking a shower for us! We went out and bought a scented candle as we came back we noticed how filthy the grounds were, I mean filthy!!! Even the trash cans were so disgusting and when I tried to push the opening to put my doggy bag in it took a lot of effort!!! We went to dinner; I felt horrible to leave my pets in there! We came back to watch a movie we brought with our computer, brought a hdmi cable thankfully! Batteries were low in remote it was pathetic! Not fan or air conditioning to relieve us of the smell so we had to leave the window open all night and our room faced the parking lot so guess who didn't get any sleep? The bedding, pillows, drapes and us smelled of smoke it was thee worse experience!!! I've stayed in smoking rooms before when I dated a man who smoked; I'm telling you this was like someone was siting in our room smoking while we were there! The filth was absolutely disgusting and again it's unlike me to Yelp with a bad comment but you needed to be warned!!! Use caution! What I don't understand is why the office wouldn't allow my friend to use their bathroom that to me shows lack of consideration and horrible customer service! I could not have been happier with our stay!! We stayed for just one night, but from the moment we checked in to the moment we left the staff was amazing. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable and the air conditioning was awesome! We arrived to Santa Barbara early, around 10:00 am. Upon checking in we were told that we could come back at regular check in time, 2:00. After asking Phillip at the front desk if there was any chance we could check in any earlier, he quickly responded that he would have the room ready within the hour, and he did. First time seeing a motel with a vinyl floor. Lots of cheap "furniture", including mattresses that might as well be on beds. I now know what a cookie cutter motel room made with IKEA knockoff furniture would look like. They don't tell you the central air conditioner is not working until after check in. It's been close to 90 degrees in the room, 2 nights in a row now after promising they would fix it. I've stayed at hostels in 3rd world countries better than this pathetic dump. In hindsight I would gladly pay an extra $100 per night somewhere else had I known I'd be sleep deprived 2 nights in a row. But if it's money you want to save then sleep in your car, you'll be much more comfortable. Do not stay at this piece of Shi..... motel. Really irresponsible manager leaving customers high and dry along with their poor employees who have been bombarded by customers. Air conditioner has been broken for two days during the worst heat wave in California and they have no clue when it will be fixed. The ice machine has a line of people waiting for ice because the entire property is beyond hot. No ice either takes the machine around 20 mins to drop one bucket of ice. Stood in line for an hour to get half a bucket of ice with 6 guest behind me. TERRIBLE. THE LEAST THEY CAN DO IS RUN OUT AND BUY ICE FOR CUSTOMERS. Where the hell is the general manager. Doors open still hotter than a sauna and getting eaten by mosquitoes and got 3 flea bites. Ask TO be relocated. They said they don't have the ability. Wth. They said you're more then welcome to check out. It's labor day weekend where would I get another place at last minute without getting ripped off! Frustrated and hope management does something. Well, it's a four star "two star motel". Ignore the one star reviews, especially the long ones - it is just whining and perhaps written about the other M6 in town. This place fits the bill and would still be a bargain if they raised the rates $20 (still be the cheapest in town). Staff was friendly and fine. The room was clean - exceeded expectations. My only complaint is the mattress - think "sofa bed pull out" - it sucked. Of course the bed is the real reason you stay, so that's a pretty big slam. Towels were the standard two thirds size thin white you'd expect at a 2 star place, no shampoo, no hair dryer, and use your own data plan since they charge for WiFi. I stayed two nights and would stay again for a night or so. It was quiet - but it is a motel so there are people coming/going during the night. Fortunately, during my stay (Monday/Tuesday) there were no obnoxious guests. read more

Me and my wife stayed here and I was very pleasantly surprised! The wood floors in the rooms were a really big plus, the new shower style was really cool, the entire renovation of the room is great! We had a good night sleep and it was a packed 4th of July weekend but lots of families. Not to mention it was affordable. Everyone else wanted 300+ a night (sat-sun) and we stayed here for $145+tax. I would stay here again. Don't let the office look fool you. If I were them I would remodel the office like they have the rooms. I mean the office is the first impression. Still no air conditioning and staff has "no idea" when it will be fixed. They also ran out of the water they were supposedly giving out and wouldn't be replenishing it until "sometime later." I suspect that management has turned off the A/C intentionally to cut costs and boost profits. I mean, how long can it take to call an A/C repair company? Like, one minute? No fun being stuck in a tacky, sweltering little room with uncomfortable beds that are crawling with ants. Did I mention the lazy maid who actually called the room to see if she could get out of cleaning it? Or the noisy party going on by the pool at midnight? We stayed at this hotel in August of 2012 for a wedding we attended in Santa Barbara. There was a block reserved for family and friends as a lot of people were coming in from out of town. We figured how bad could a Motel 6 be in the Santa Barbara area? When we walked in I was slightly surprised at how modern and updated it was inside. I loved it!...Until i sat on the bed and realized ALL THE STAINS ON BOTH COMFORTERS! -- We immediately threw them on the floor. That night, we attended a get together with some friends and found out a lot of them were staying there too. Someone mentioned how annoying it was that there was no shampoo, soap or body wash in the rooms. When i got back i realized this was true, no hairdryer, iron or ironing board either. The beds were like sleeping on cement, not comfortable at all. The day of the wedding, most of us tried getting an iron, mind you we all traveled from out of state and city and had to pack our wedding clothes in suit cases, they only had one iron for the whole hotel!!! We used the old trick and ended up putting clothes in the shower with hot steam. I could have done without the shampoo, body wash issue, but no hair dryer, iron and dirty sheets? NOPE! I took all my clothes when we got home, and immediately threw them in the wash. This place was not at all clean and i wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

I've been coming to this motel for years. It's very close to where I have to be for work. I've seen the management shift, the renovations, and the price per night go up. I know that I'm still in a motel 6. I'm not going to complain about dirty floors, stained linens, noisy neighbors, and the occasional bug. It's a motel 6. Dreadful service, come at your own risk! We were passing by Santa Barbara and this was the only place we could find under $200 ($215 after taxes). We arrived late Saturday night to face a crowded office of people dealing with a booking crisis. Apparently an online website gave guests a price of $112 which was not aligned with the real price of $200. The manager was unresponsive and incompetent. It was shocking to see him stood around while the receptionist had to deal with all the angry customers waiting in line for a half hour to get their rooms. In truth, for the type of room they offer price should be less than $50. Rooms are super tiny, hot (no air conditioning), noisy, no elevator, dirty (hair in bed and towels) and you still need to pay for wifi. I would give it a zero star and leave if we could have found a better place, but we were trapped with limited choices around. It seems like fraud how they were driving people here offering low prices. Don't come! read more

This motel was disgusting. We got there pretty late at night and carried our girls and our stuff up to the room. I was exhausted and wanted nothing more than to sleep. As soon as I got into the room, I could barely breathe because the room reeked of cigarette smoke. I noticed the ashtray in the room and my husband went down to complain. I have asthma and it was so bad that I had to stand outside to catch my breath. He was told that we were in a non-smoking room they just, you know, provide ashtrays to everyone. First and last stay. Non-smoking room is a total joke. The room reeks of smoke and there's an ashtray in the room sooo...?? The bed was not especially comfortable and the sheets had an unpleasant, BO type odor. I doubt they were changed before our stay. The bathroom was by far the worst. The doors were dusty and had some sort of strange white residue all over them. The modular towel apparatus was filthy. It was covered in dust and hair (so disgusting). Cons - * No iron or ironing board. What hotel in America doesn't provide these? Oh wait, I know, Motel 6. Tom Boddett must live in wrinkled clothes. I had a suit that I needed ironing and I had to go to another hotel where my family members were staying and iron it there. Should I be surprised about them not having an iron? Maybe not. Nice to step through in the middle of the night. * Noisy! Walls are thin. Self explanatory. * Scumbags hanging around the perimeter of the hotel, also in the hallways and loitering on every stairway. These folks were probably staying here, but not something you typically see at a nicer hotel. Also, the halls were a mess in the morning with empty pizza boxes thrown all over from the partying that was going on during the night. It's clean and the staff at the front counter were nice and welcoming! The only thing that I disliked was that there is no tissue box in the room... Very strange... What a shit hole! All I can say is I will NEVER stay at a Motel 6 ever again. We had a weekend planned for Labor Day. The AC in the entire motel was down. It was so damn hot. We never got a heads up until we were there to check in. Needless to say the staff were very accommodating and sympathetic. Dirty. Bring your own bacterial wipes for light switches with black muck and smears that easily cleaned off with the wipes I went out and got. $130 and not even a microwave or coffee maker? See through towels. Sheets with stains and holes in them. I'd say you get what you pay for but $130 is the neighborhood average. My lungs are congested. The HVAC is filthy. And the WiFi you PAY for after the $130 pops on and off constantly and you have to keep putting the code in. They don't ever need to leave the light on for me. Disgusting. Should be an embarrassment to be so filthy for so much. Get a little respect for your business and your clients. Make a little effort to have some sort of self respect and integrity.
