    Nicer than you would expect!
    Akemi W.

This is one of two Carpenteria Motel 6s, and this one is a little nicer. It's built in a rectangle around a pool, and those inner rooms feel like your staying at some place a bit nicer than Motel 6. Everyone talks like Motel 6 is the trashiest motel ever, but I think they're perfectly fine, and great for the price. Everything was clean and quiet, the staff was friendly, and I can bring my dog with no issues or extra fees. Plus the price is a fraction of anything else in town. I found it annoying that there's no door between the bathroom (toilet/shower) and sink area, but that's not a deal breaker for me. The only reason I didn't give five stars is that the wi-fi stopped working every evening, and I needed to use it. Very annoying. But even with that, I'd be happy to come again. Can't beat the value for the Santa Barbara area.

    Kristin Leigh M.

OK... Motel 6 is not where I would normally stay. Ever. However, the prices in the Santa Barbara are astronomical. Ridiculous. For the amount of time that we were actually planning to be in the room, I figured "why not." I'd stayed at Motel 6 once before in Arizona (and had a phenomenal experience.) The rooms are basic. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner. I forgot about that element. But the rooms are clean. Very clean. I would take a super clean room over an amenity-rich room any day. Another plus: there's actually a decent selection of TV channels. (Was able to watch stuff before bed, which was nice. Trust me -- I didn't stay hanging out in the room all day.) The cost of two nights here was about the cost of one night in Santa Barbara proper. The location of the property is phenomenal. We walked everywhere during our stay. Didn't drive at all for anything we did in Carpinteria. The manager is also extremely friendly; you can tell she has a lot of pride in the property. There is a pool on site (no hot tub). I didn't visit it, so can't comment on it. 2022: 39/100

Second attempt at checking in to my room, someone must've gotten up to go to the restroom.
    Luis G.

Booked a room today, 8/6/23 and made my way to the destination. Went to check in and the woman at the front desk was very helpful and pleasant during the check-in process. After selecting a room and floor, made my way up only to find it locked from the inside with the security latch. Laughed it off and made my way to the front desk for a new room, boy what a mistake. After making my way back upstairs and locating my room I walked in to find a complete mess. I'm shocked I didn't walk in on anybody, either sleeping or fornicating. Two attempts were all my patience could handle so I politely asked for a refund and was issued one. Very doubtful I'll ever return, to this Motel 6 or any other.

Here you see the mold Spurs that a forming in the bathroom along the wall

There is mold is the bathroom not too sure that it is safe for people to be staying here. Not too sure why they would host people here if things were like that. This needs to change for the safety of the host, cleaners, and clients who come here to work and stay

We were locked out one day. I had to sit outside to eat my big Mack. They allow pets. Maids are weird.

It's near the freeway, downtown Carpinteria, beachs, and a suburban shopping plaza with a grocery store ( eateries, Starbucks, fast food). Pros: + Complimentary breakfast. This was quite a spread and the egg and protein hot items rotates. Eggs one day could be a cheesy omelette patty and the next scrambled. The protein was bacon strip, pork sausage or turkey sausage patty. They had a pancake machine, very simple to use, just press a button. There were cinnamon rolls, bagels, bread slices, muffins, three cereal offerings, yogurt, and fruit (bananas, oranges). Coffee, tea, juices, milk, and even had almond milk. The women working the breakfast were amazing. Cheerful and helpful, adding to a great start to the day. They were taking care to refill hot food trays and tidying the area. + Outdoor swimming pool and hot tub. + Fitness center. + Free WiFi. + Free lending library in the lobby. + Complimentary 24/7 coffee and tea station in the lobby. Other: - They leave a printout of your receipt on the floor outside your door the early morning before checkout. I'm not a fan of this practice. Because we all know, people are noisy. I asked mine to be left at the desk. - The sole elevator is super small. Barely large enough for the bellhop cart and one person. - One of the two washing machines, in the guests laundry facility, was broken during our visit. - Not enough USB ports, for my liking, in the room. - The room's mini fridge temp was on the fritz. It froze my items even on a low setting. - Microwave was not cleaned. Still had the previous guests cheesy blob in it. Yikes.

There is a table right at the window so you can enjoy dining/reading/sitting with an incredible and private VIEW! This time we got the only accommodation that has TWO rooms-- so it felt like a small apartment without a kitchen! It's extra spacious and allowed everyone to have their privacy. The rooms are SUPER cute! Yes, the furniture is old. Yes, it looks like grandma's house. But from someone who has stayed in luxury resorts most of the time, these charming and timeless rooms have a special place in my heart. I'm not even sure if this makes sense, but the ambiance welcomes you with open arms and makes you feel right at home. It truly feels like I came to grandmas house. It feels so familiar and I know for a fact, staying here is healing my inner child each time. We all know the views are absolutely incredible-- I mean... breakfast buffet overlooking the cliffs AND you can watch surfers and dolphins in the distance while you enjoy your food? Can't get better than that. You can go visit the shore during low tide or walk over to the pier that leads to an island! This hotel is tucked away from the city and I absolutely love the seclusion. Although it's right next to the highway, staying here feels like stepping into a peaceful parallel universe-- the world still moves on the other side of the wall, but you're suspended in your own quiet, dreamlike bubble until it's time to return to reality. The service is too notch! She has gone out of her way to accommodate us and never made any request feel like it was too much or an inconvenience. The accomodations there were absolutely gorgeous. I actually can't wait for a reason to go back again soon. DETAILS... This was the perfect place a get-away weekend with my husband. The garden and suites are all beautifully arranged on the property, the garden had a beautiful layout, the pool and jacuzzi were amazing (seriously amazing), and our dog had just as much fun as we did. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The suite was clean, the TV had an HDMI cable that we were able to hook our computer up to to watch Netflix, the bed was very comfy and clean, and bathroom was very clean, and the overall space was exactly what we were looking for. There are enough parking spots for all of the guests, and all of the guests were very low-key and pleasant to be around. Although all of the suites were rented out we actually barely ran into everyone and it felt as if we had the entire area to ourselves. I think one of the biggest perks on top of all these amenities is that our dog was allowed to enjoy the place just as much as we were. We are looking forward to another reason to take a trip up to Santa Barbara/Montecito area so we can stay here again! I would definitely recommend this place.

The tilework is beautiful, the fountain used to be beautiful, the outdoor spaces used to be cozy. Just standing in the lobby, looking at the bookshelves, drag racing model and old victrola, gives a glimpse of the owner's personality 10 years ago, but now there's a feeling of neglect and waiting for someone else to take over. Maybe the couple who put it together had a falling out, maybe they're living in another country or maybe it's a COVID business casualty that never recovered, but the place feels like it's in a slow death spiral. The front desk person is there for limited hours, the "breakfast" consists of cereal dispensers and cookies/muffins which were the same in quantity and distribution over the two days we stayed (implying that they weren't getting restocked) The room was suitably prepared with cute folding of the towels but the walls had damage and anchor holes where things had been mounted in the past but their prior location was not patched. No one made up our room nor changed towels and sheets. Honestly, the place fit the bill for our stay, filling a niche between the motel 6 and the countless air B&Bs, and with a little better management and some upgrades, you have the potential to really get it right with your original vision, but it looks like it's just not the right time for the current owners. I wish them well and if there are new owners, I hope they are able to carry on with the initial vision that is evident in the decor of the lobby.

Upon check in at 10 pm at night I was shocked that the room that was initially $94 a night had increased to $330.00 due to graduation in the area. I spent 25 minutes at the front desk speaking to a very nice and extremely helpful young lady named Zen, who informed me that she understood my position and that I would not be charged for the room as she didn't see any charges placed on the CC used to hold the room. It was during this exchange that I believed that would continue to be the case and left with a business card to follow up if need be. Imagine my surprise when I checked the following week to see the charge was not only there on my credit card but whomever I spoke with when I called and inquired as to why, when I was told different the night I was there. I told them had I been made completely aware, which I was not, that my credit card was going to be charged regardless I would have had to stay and deal with the price gouging. There was no attempt to reverse the charges or ANY type of customer service when it came to this whole exchange. I have disputed the charge with my bank. When I told the woman who I was on the phone with I would be leaving a negative review on every site I could, her response was, "Its a free country, you are entitled to your free speech and opinion." At which point after having her talk over me the entire conversation to try and justify this, I hung up. If I could have left zero stars I would have.
