I first learned about the Danish concept of hygge - a feeling of contentment from simple pleasures and experiences - from a Frozen storybook. Hotel Hygge is what you get when you cross Airbnb with a motel. Everything is contactless and there's no front desk, so someone emails you at the start of your stay with information including your room number and keypad code. Check-in starts at 3pm. The wife and I were anxiously waiting for the email, but it didn't come until 3:10. They also didn't pick up when we tried to call, but they eventually returned our text message, so allow for a bit of delay in reaching them. The room was fine but small. There was a TV, mini fridge with no freezer section, small coffee maker that didn't work well, and a small table over the fridge that had barely enough room for me to sit at to use my laptop. Lighting was a bit too dim. The free WiFi was reliable and fast enough for streaming. The wall heater worked amazingly well. In the bathroom, the sink was very low and the shower pressure was only strong when the water was on the cold setting. Noise isolation was average - we heard some plumbing and muffled conversation from the adjacent unit, but people were generally respectful. There's a common room with an ice machine, microwave, and extras like toilet paper and cutlery for guests to use. Outside there are three fire pits, a bike station with tools and a pump, a bocce ball court, and cornhole boards. The cornhole bean bags are easy to miss - they're actually in a little bucket in each room. Guests here are also able to use the fitness center at Sideways Inn, the nearby sister hotel. Their fitness center is pretty legit, especially if you're into weight training. 3.5 stars overall. Hotel Hygge was the cheapest place in town by far (at least on the Capital One travel portal that we booked through), so I was willing to overlook a lot of the shortcomings. We even found a bit of hygge for ourselves by the fire pit at night. For the price, this was a reasonable stay!

Quick self-check-in sightseeing in Santa Ynez Valley. IAlbertsons.nearby. Local bus transit across the street. Buellton has many parks.

We stayed here while attending Julfest in Solvang!

I recommend staying here! Booking, check in and location easy and convenient! Our host was a delight. They text you at check in and respond very fast to our questions and needs. They are 9 minutes from Solvang. We will definitely stay here again. We did not stay long enough to enjoy the amenities. We had a few minor issues. Due to the cold weather it takes a little longer to get hot water... lol

Hidden gem in Buellton, CA. Small comfortable, clean and quiet. A one night stay near Solvang, Ca and Chumash casino.

This place is so quiet. Super soft bed. They have fun giant games like skeeball and ring toss, some outdoor seating area with fire pit. All digital check-in. Have coffee, water, ample towels for 1, fridge, desk, sound machine. I like the bathroom, black and white print with a rainfall shower head. Close to everything you need.

QUIET EASY COMFORTABLE CLEAN I just loved my experience at Hygge hotel. This is the best motel experience especially if you are wanting a comfortable stay for less expensive. I cant say enough good things about this. The bed was ultra comfortable and the room smelled so clean. I really enjoyed every time we went back to our room to rest from the days activities. It really had everything you need + a few added amenities like games and a fire pit. I was pleasantly surprised to find breakfast foods on our doorstep the following morning. The male staff member cleaning/managing the rooms was very nice, professional and hospitable towards us. I would stay here again!

Rating this a 2 for it being remodeled, cleanliness, and convenience. It's located just outside of Solvang (which hotels quickly fill up on weekends) and close to the freeway entrance. There is NO front desk but there is a host - and guests here have free run of the sideways inn amenities. This place also has a fire pit and corn hole! After booking a room and agreeing to the terms I was sent and e-mail with my room number and keypad code and let myself in. The room was cute (see pic) there was a basket of corn hole bean bags, fridge, ice bucket, coffee maker, white noise machine, tv and toiletries. The bed was comfy BUT we slept with our feet at the head of the bed because that side of the mattress was lower. Another review I saw mentioned (mind you I booked this place without checking yelp) the AC/heating unit was loud and that it was going off ever so often it woke my light sleeper of a husband up numerous times. The host was nice and kept in contact with me the whole time. Even brought over yogurt, juice and pastries for breakfast.

This Place looks cute and cozy, but let me tell you this place was probably by far the worst hotel I've stayed at. Everything is digital, for starters I called and asked about my reservation because I wasn't sure if we'd make it to the latest check in, which is 12a. The person on the phone immediately was like nope didn't go through and I said okay I have a confirmation email though she said what's the last name, I gave it to her and she followed by just straight "no didn't go through." Didn't try at all to help me with anything. I then followed by saying okay, what can be done she said contact the service you got the reservation from and hung up. When we arrived the hotel seemed clean, however it was dirty in alll the places! The walls were full of hair, and the restroom had another persons shit on it! On the side of the restroom! How gross is that! We called to let them know how the conditions of the room was and they followed by saying they'd clean it, and it wasn't! The shit smears were still there there was still hair all over the place and the bed wasn't even made ! We called again to tell them about it, they sent the operations manager to check it out, and he legit had a towel and cleaning spray to wipe the shit off! We complained about it and the other person not the operations manager gave us a different room. Still had hair all over the bathroom walls. . At this point I want a refund for the entire stay! This place was not good at all, and my experience wasn't the best either. No good customer service and the operations manager had no good bed side manner. If I could give no stars I would however help wont allow me to do that!

The property has a spacious lobby, plenty of outdoor seating with cozy fire pits, a nice swimming pool with a Jacuzzi, and a complimentary breakfast served daily from 6:00 to 10:00 a.m. One of our favorite features was the peaceful setting. Behind the hotel is a small hillside, which gives the property a quiet, secluded feel surrounded by nature. In the evenings, we loved relaxing by the fire pits, enjoying takeout dinner paired with some local wines. The pool area was well maintained, with plenty of fresh towels and ample lounge chairs. The complimentary breakfast had a good variety of options, including bread, omelets, pancakes, yogurt, cereal, muffins, oatmeal, and fresh coffee. They also offer a 24/7 coffee station in the lobby along with complimentary apples, which was a nice touch. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The bed was very cozy, and the hotel was quiet at night, making it easy to get a good night's sleep. There's also a great brewery nearby that's worth checking out for good food and drinks. If you're planning to visit Solvang and Santa Barbara, I would definitely recommend staying here.

The price was affordable and we had booked a few days prior. We were welcomed by the night time Innskeeper, Joan who warmly welcomed us. We were very touched by the warm hospitality and how helpful she was (shared her recommendations for food places and gave helpful tips and showed us a map of the area) She had us checked in less than 10 minutes and we were sent off to our room. The overall room was spacious, cozy, and clean. We had stayed on upper floor. The bed was cozy, there was cable, and the towels were fluffy. The tap water tasted good (they do a great job with the purification) and the shower pressure was perfect after a couple hours of straight driving. There are no elevators so please be mindful of that! They have complimentary coffee and danishes from a local danish bakery from solvang. There is orange and cranberry juice for those who dont want coffee or tea. This is from 7 am - 10 am. The area its self has golfing for kids, a heated swimming pool and the inn partners with multiple local shops and areas which offer you a discount if you show the little "passport card" they give you when you check in. Aside from that, housekeeping is splendid. Our first time experience went well and we are so excited to book again in the near future.

I'm curious to know why there are any exposed pipes in the first place. I'm sure having exposed pipes violates multiple city and health codes. One unique thing I noticed at this Marriott hotel was that the room had Febreze Car Clip Air Fresheners attached to the AC vents. I've never seen this at any other hotel. I'm not sure if this is standard practice at this hotel or if it was added to this particular room because the previous guest smoked in it. This hotel sits right at the beginning of the Solvang strip, and in my opinion, it's the perfect location. You're just steps away from all the shops, restaurants, and even one of the local breweries, but far enough from the center of town that you can actually enjoy a peaceful night's sleep. If you're someone who insists on staying right in the middle of all the action, this may not be the spot for you--but don't expect much quiet over there! The hotel has been newly renovated, and our room was adorable, clean, and very comfortable. The staff was incredibly accommodating and quick to respond to anything we needed. They truly made us feel welcome throughout our stay. The property itself isn't huge, but they did an excellent job making the most of the space. There's a cute full-service bar with indoor and outdoor seating, a café offering breakfast, pastries, coffee, and a surprisingly good selection of food throughout the day. The lobby also has a convenient grab-and-go market, and outside you'll find a cozy fire pit lounge with games and a relaxing water feature that makes for a great place to unwind in the evening. There isn't a pool, but honestly, that's not why you come to Solvang. If you're looking for outdoor adventures, you're just a short drive from Lake Cachuma and the beach. But let's be real--most people come here for the amazing food, wine, shopping, and the charming Danish village atmosphere, and this hotel puts you close to all of it. I'm actually surprised there aren't more reviews for this property because it was completely sold out during our stay, and now I understand why. Out of the several Hilton properties I stayed at during my trip this week, this one was easily my favorite. Great job to the entire team! You all set the standard for hospitality. You recycled an old Original signed hotel registration guest card from "someplace" from 2005! Did you have another property with 28+ rooms? And WHY would you hold onto papers that long & why did you not shred it? You should be shredding guest reg. cards & NOT hand out people's personal info in ANY capacity! 2.) Other few negatives to note: I did not trust the cleaning skills. A soapy, used washcloth was left hanging on the shower pipe. There is a bit of mold at the shower ceiling, upper walls, floor corners & wall tiles that should be bleached & the ceiling should be painted with mold resistant paint. Room AC vent should be disinfected to prevent it from smelling like ammonia (urine) when using fan only mode. 3.) Note: Caught on my security camera-mgr opening rm door to look in & inspect--10 min after I left the property. She did not call me. I did not trust their cleaners & I did not want folks in/out due to Covid. I always travel with a security camera now after I had cleaners open my door to attempt to enter my room at an SD hotel, while I was inside sleeping (thankfully the big security latch prevented them from entering) ~~So pls do not enter rooms when guests are not there & you agreed to "not enter". You asked about needing service & we agreed to "NO Service" & that I'd throw my own trash in the dumpster & I'd request items as needed. Give guests a call-that's what cell phones are for. 4.) yes the towels are old & scratchy, but at least they appeared clean 5.)
