Hole in the wall looking joint but AMAZING heroes. We ordered the meatball Parm and Broccoli Rabe Sausage heroes. The heroes were great! We loved both of them. The bread was fresh and crispy. We also ordered a plain slice and he made a fresh pie. The slices here are good too. I can't wait to return to try the other topping pies and heroes. A shout out to the staff. They are really nice. When my wife and I were teens, we used to eat at Mother Kelly's when they were in Cedarhurst. I'm talking back in the day! They were THE place to be at. Not just for the food, but for the atmosphere, the family. They always treated their customers like they were eating in the family dining room. Later on, when I was personal training, Mark and Glenn used to come into the gym and i became friendly with them. Salt of the earth guys. Would do anything for you. Bend over backwards. I would order the "balsamic chicken" which was literally the best I've ever had. Now that we're in Oceanside, I finally made the call to order from them and WOW!!! They absolutely delivered!! (Well, I picked up but you know what I mean). The portions felt like I ordered for a party. Not normal. Not even close. If there was something bigger than a grand slam, they hit it. This is a truly unique Italian spot with portion sizes that will blow you away. The servings are massive--large enough to easily justify the price. In fact, they even note on the menu that their entrees are "enough for 2," and they're not kidding. Not only are the entrees ginormous, but they also throw in freebies with every order. You can always count on a complimentary batch of their amazing garlic knots, and another extra or such as a side of pasta, garlic bread, red bean salad, a slice of pizza, or even cookies. The hospitality here is incredibly generous. If the enormous portions weren't enough, the menu itself is hilariously extensive. This isn't your standard Italian eatery with just pizza, pasta, and meatballs. They've got everything--chicken wings, Asian-inspired dishes, ribs, mac and cheese, seafood dishes with lobster, and more. I doubt I'll ever make it through the entire menu, but I do try to switch it up each time I visit. While a lot of the food is delicious, some dishes stand out more than others. I've encountered a few that I probably wouldn't order again as they can be found better elsewhere. I think the massive menu is a double-edged sword--it's nearly impossible to keep everything fresh, so it's hard to predict what's going to be at its best on any given day. I imagine a lot of items have to be frozen regularly to keep up with the variety. That said, there are some standout dishes. Their grandma pie is excellent--I prefer it over their regular pizza. The chicken cacciatore and shrimp Mother Kelly's are both fantastic entrees, packed with flavor and generous portions. On the flip side, their chicken wings were a bit disappointing. If I'm craving wings, I'd probably head to a spot more known for them. One area where the menu falls a bit short is salads. For such an extensive selection, the salad options are surprisingly limited. Some of their salads are overloaded with ingredients, making it hard to find one that appeals to everyone in a group. I'd love to see them add simpler options, like a classic caprese (mozzarella, tomato, roasted peppers, and balsamic) or a basic grilled or fried chicken salad. Overall, this is a fantastic family-run business with a loyal customer base. While your wallet might feel a bit lighter after dining here, you'll leave with enough food to feed an army--and leftovers to last for days. Mother Kelly's is the best Italian food spot in RVC. Tonight we ordered the three amigos- stuffed mushrooms, baked clams and shrimp, shrimp scampi, and a chicken calzone (that is not on the menu. Everything arrived hot and true to consistency in great taste. Even the marinara sauce is warm and delicious. They always send you something extra too. Last time we got a dessert this time a bean salad. The portions are large and can easily serve 4. What makes this place special is that you know their food is cooked with love and served with pride. They are top notch for everything from small dinners to office catered parties. I know because I have had both. They even have customers they ship out of state to. Not surprising! We were happy to find a cauliflower crust pizza here on Yelp, so I called for delivery. The food arrived promptly, so I was very impressed by the speedy service. The pizza was delicious, with an eggy fluffy texture, almost like a pancake. I tried to make a cauliflower crust once and I used a whole cauliflower and two eggs and it didn't turn out as good as this crust. The mushroom topping was fresh and not the canned mushrooms that some pizzerias use. Very good for cauliflower crust! The garlic knots were the best I've ever had. We are retired couple who eat out a lot. If you want terrific Italian food this place is a must. Menu says portions are for 2, trust me they can easily handle 3. Had Antipasto Salad that was fresh with lots of ingredients. Also had chicken scarpariello with penne. Only drawback for some is that it is takeout only. read more

We live in the area and we quite frequently order from Mother Kellys for family parties or weekends when we do not feel like cooking. Our goal is to order everything on the menu as some point! The portion are extremely large which is great bc your meal can last you for a whole weekend. When ordering Italian we always welcome left overs. I've been going to Mother Kelly's for at least 20 years. It is always delicious and Glenn is kind and makes you feel like family. I've tried many of the dishes on the menu. My favorites include the penne ala vodka, Glenn salad, chicken parmigiana, eggplant parmigiana, shrimp marinara and balsamic chicken. The portions are very generously sized. They can easily feed two people, with leftovers. They give you garlic knots and bean salad in balsamic dressing with your order. I normally get an order of sautéed spinach as well which is very garlicky and is topped with breadcrumbs. We were looking for an alternative to a huge carby pie so had our eye on this place for their cauliflower crust pizza. But hold on, there's a chicken crust pie. Surely they must mean a regular pie with lots of chicken on top, because..imagine, the crust made out of chicken? Could it be? Too good to be true but a phone call confirmed that the crust is made of chicken. Must be tiny, right? Fifteen inches and only $30. It's excellent quality slightly processed delicious chicken (can't find a 15 inch chicken breast, and putting several flattened breasts together isn't prudent) in a delicious bread crumb crust, topped with mozzarella. Basically a grand round Chicken Parmigiana. Their Cobb Salad has more bacon, avocado, tomato, olives, onions, blue and American cheese than iceberg lettuce. Add your own raw washed spinach to balance it out and feed even more. Good value. Seems like every large order comes with a healthy mixed bean salad, some garlic knots, good tomato sauce. Meh likes. Got back from the city and was starving. None of us wanted to cook. Called Mother Kelly's for a pick up. Order a cauliflower pizza, pesto pasta with shrimp and fitzi shrimp. It was supposed to feed the three us. Walked in and the order was just coming out of the kitchen. Amazing people started with adding a pan of garlic knows, a delicious hoagie, two slices of spinach pizza they want us to try. And a tasty parfait for dessert. We could have fed 9 people. Food was amazing and huge portions. I have a pizzeria literally 2 blocks away, I will now be driving 10 minutes to Mother Kelly's for my pasta and pizza. Located a lil ray of sunshine on this gloomy rainy day coming across this lil gem. Followed the garlicky aroma back to Mother Kelly's where we were greeted by the warmest invitation by the chef-owner Glen who made room on the busy counter & set a plate of his lobster pizza as he pulled it fresh out the oven as he said "try this on the house!" We we're in love from that moment w/this establishment. Then we studied every item on the menu as he handed us the specials menu. SOLD!!!!! What started out as a quick slice turned into this...but their hospitality didn't end there. A local patron (looked less fortunate) walked in to pickup an order he must've called in & Glen says just $20 will do "_____," would you like a drink on the house?" This is the local mom & pops venue I'd support & drive miles out for just for the loving welcome & caring you get walking in from the cold rain! Thnx Glen!
