Very unorganized. Unresponsive. Planted a shrub for us which died in a couple months. Told us there was only a 3 month guarantee on plants. Would NOT recommend. read more

After moving to a home in Bloomington last year, this spring my wife and I hired Mother Nature's to put in a large paver patio and a front walk made of limestone slabs, plus to plant a Japanese Maple tree and numerous shrubs and other plants around the house, and move our shed. We dealt with Chris Garrow. He's a very personable guy and he met with us both at our home and at the Bloomington Valley Nursery to discuss our ideas and his for the patio, walk and plantings, and he supervised the jobs. We felt we needed someone knowledgeable about plants and who had an artistic sense of how to arrange them, because the border around our house had virtually no plants. The patio and the walk came out great. Those jobs, as well as moving the shed and laying down a gravel base for it, were done by two guys who just do that and they were exceptional craftsmen, and easy to deal with. But we were less pleased about the plantings. Yes, some areas look great - and of course the plants will grow., But, while we were away from the house for a doctor's appointment, Chris's crew ripped out a healthy forsythia bush that we had repeatedly told him to leave in place. Also, the crew failed to remove sections of old garden matting, as we had said we wanted done, and instead just threw mulch on top. Chris also chose to plant a bunch of items that were decimated by deer in a day or two, even though he knew that was a good possibility. He did agree to replace some things, and also planted a new forsythia - but a weird kind that deer love to eat. He also planted a number of things we did not request, and dug up the grass around our curbside post box to plant things, which we had not asked for and frankly don't like. And many of the fragile plants he supplied were too small (quart instead of gallon container size) and were planted at insufficient depth, requiring us to replant them. In short, while we liked Chris, and see that he has good landscape design skill, and his crew people were okay to deal with, we expected a more professional job on the plantings, especially considering the very high price. We are hoping we have a better opinion of it when we see it more developed in years to come. read more

I had Mother Nature come to my house to discuss ideas and get an est. Shawn stated how excited he was to do this job and would call me back in 2 days with an est. Also he was to email his design. Shawn never called back. When I called him, he stated my house was too far to make $. But wait.... He landscapes my neighbor 7 houses away. Mother Nature is all talk and no landscaping!!!!!! read more

Horrible customer service. We had in writing (email) what we wanted from Mother Nature Landscaping. Shawn gave us a quote of X. We had our grass scheduled for a certain day of the week because we have dogs that need to be kenneled when people enter our yard. We stated all this information, but was not relayed to the lawn crew. I finally had to stop the lawn crew and speak to them directly that they needed to let me know when then were coming so that our dogs were not hurt or got out, or they weren't hurt by our dogs. The lawn crew then communicated via text to let me know when they were coming. Problem is defiantly with the ownership (Shwan) especially. Remember our in writing contract....well he proceeds to charge for extra cuts here for $25 and $35, this is when his crew is already at our home cutting. Makes sense to charge extra when you are already at a location right? The last incident was when Mother Nature once again changed the date for cutting. We were gone had a pet sitter watching our home and Mother Nature decided to once again come and cut on a day that we obviously were not ready for them. Told them that they couldn't come to mow, the crew said OK and would try to work it into the schedule. I called Monday to Mother Nature to find out when they might be coming, and told them that they changed the schedule, and we were gone and had an arrangement with our pet sitter for our dogs to be inside. Shawn told me that they didn't change the schedule, that it wasn't a definite schedule anyways (mind you they came on Friday's most of the time other then rain days) but who am I other then the customer that pays their bill...right? I was told by Shawn that they have hundreds of accounts and that they didn't need my business. He stated that all of their accounts were weekly (which I doubt) and mine was the only bi weekly account (which again I doubt). This has been a continuous problem. I have sent written notifications to Mother Nature, other then the first bill, they don't acknowledge any wrong doing. I had them also work on a fire pit in my yard, they did do a good job, but wouldn't hire them again. Unfortunate for Mother Nature, because we have a lot of work we are planing for our yard and they won't be getting the contract for that work. read more

I received a great response as Wells Lawn Care was able to come out the same day and take care of our initial mowing, trimming, and edging needs. Derek Wells, the owner, responded to the message I left personally and almost immediately. Since this initial interaction, we have pursued other services with Derek and Wells Lawn care. We have contracted the following services lawn fertilization, mowing, trimming, edging, and weeding, for the Spring 2016 season. In addition we are collaborating with Wells on a much larger project for our yard/outdoor space. This is being completed in stages with the first being the demolition of our current patio and deck & installation proper grading/draining in the back yard this fall (2015). In spring/summer (2016) we have plans with Wells to install a paving-stone patio/path, outdoor kitchen, and replace or improve existing landscaping (hardscape and softscape) throughout the rest of our property. Customer's view is that owner wants customers' business but is not willing to provide customer service in accordance to customer's need.

I am happy with the result in the work they did, but it is what they did not do that is a problem. Drainage is a problem at my home and this was addressed with them several times, but never fixed. Nature's Link stop responding and I gave up. In a new build, between the developer (who chose this company) and Nature's Link themselves, this should have been done right the first time (or the second) and was not. Water still collects in my yard rather than draining to the street as it should. I am not angry about it any more, but will not hire them for any future projects and I recommend that anyone reading this also look elsewhere.
