I recently attempted to purchase a 2025 Thor Tranquility 19A from Motor Home Specialist RV (MHSRV) for an agreed-upon price of $103,000. Unfortunately, my experience with your dealership was deeply disappointing and unprofessional at multiple levels. Although we reached an agreement on the sales price, the DocuSign paperwork provided was consistently inaccurate. Despite multiple revisions over the course of 8-9 days, the purchase price and applicable state sales tax were repeatedly incorrect. Even once the sales price was finally corrected, the sales tax remained wrong, and a previously undisclosed fee appeared in the latest version of the paperwork. From the beginning, I communicated to the salesperson, Mitch, that due to a medical appointment, I would not be able to travel until around July 5. Although I rearranged my schedule to possibly arrive earlier, the paperwork remained incorrect, which prevented me from moving forward. I was not willing to drive over 1,200 miles without finalized and accurate documentation. Throughout this process, I received numerous calls and texts from Mitch, Chris, and Brian. I repeatedly requested final numbers, yet was only provided with a vague monthly payment figure, which did not align with my calculations. When I asked for clarification, I was met with resistance and a refusal to provide a breakdown of the numbers. I also informed the team that I intended to increase my down payment--after which communication ceased entirely. Subsequently, I began receiving calls and texts from Mitch and Robert ("Cowboy"), the sales manager, pressuring me to sign the DocuSign immediately or risk cancellation of the sale--even though I had already placed a deposit one week prior. At this point, I believed everything was progressing appropriately and had started planning my trip. The high-pressure tactics employed by MHS RV's team were not only inappropriate but deeply concerning. I made it clear to multiple team members that I would not finalize the purchase without seeing and test-driving the vehicle. The insistence that I sign without viewing the unit raised red flags about the vehicle's condition. I requested to have a certified, third-party RV inspector review the vehicle before proceeding. Although Robert initially agreed, he quickly reversed his position when I scheduled an inspector to visit within 48 hours--refusing to wait and insisting the deal would be canceled if I didn't sign the same day. To make matters worse, Robert suggested using an in-house inspector, which I declined to avoid any conflicts of interest. He also stated that my deposit would remain refundable pending inspection, yet the DocuSign clearly indicated otherwise. As a legally binding document, the written contract would override any verbal or text assurances. Despite my efforts to work cooperatively and professionally, I was met with escalating pressure, inaccurate paperwork, misleading communication, and ultimately, a complete breakdown of trust. When I finally informed Robert that I no longer wished to proceed with the purchase, my deposit was refunded within minutes--suggesting he may have anticipated or even intended for the deal to fall through. Additionally, I was copied on internal communication instructing staff to prepare financing paperwork based on incorrect figures, despite my repeated clarification that I planned to put down approximately $47,000--not the amount they documented. At no point was I provided a proper breakdown of the financing terms or monthly payment. This entire experience, which spanned approximately two weeks, was riddled with administrative errors, high-pressure tactics, and an unwillingness to work transparently or in good faith. It left me feeling misled, pressured, and ultimately relieved to walk away before making a significant financial commitment. Of particular concern is the fact that I was told I could not use a specific inspector due to a prior disagreement with dealership staff, and that only "approved" inspectors would be accepted. This raises serious questions about the impartiality of any inspection conducted on your terms. As a military family, we are particularly sensitive to ethical and transparent business practices. This was a missed opportunity for a successful sale to a qualified and serious buyer. As a retired Army officer with multiple deployments, a former CEO of a mid-sized healthcare company, and an Executive Coach who has helped many senior executives and physicians, I feel compelled to share my negative experience with Motor Home Specialist (MHS) in hopes of preventing others from encountering similar issues. Specifically, my experience with salesperson Nolan O'Bannon was concerning. It appears his past success and imminent promotion to sales manager may have caused him to lose focus on customer service. Here are some key issues I encountered: Broken Promises: Nolan promised to install a solar panel immediately after the closing, but hadn't even checked if they had one in stock. Due to this error, I had to wait three weeks for a single panel to be installed. Ignoring my requests for status updates for over two weeks is unacceptable. Finally, after raising these concerns to the general manager, I received a response. Excuses like "you're not the only customer" are hurtful when a customer is left in the dark for so long. Horrible Post-Sale Customer Service: The three-week delay for a promised installation due to Nolan's lack of communication with the service department caused significant inconvenience. Offering some form of compensation, like a loaner car, would have been a gesture of goodwill. Claims that loaner cars aren't available on Sundays due to dealership closure are not acceptable excuses. A simple update of an incorrect email address took over two weeks, leaving me unable to access RV Complete/RV Life and other benefits. However, when it was finally addressed after waiting two weeks, it only took one simple email to the Blue Compass registration. Safety Concerns: Encouraging me to drive the vehicle home with low tire pressure demonstrated a disregard for my safety. This concern was raised multiple times, yet instead of providing reassurance by addressing the issue, Nolan accused me of "making poor excuses" for not taking the vehicle immediately. This was only addressed after I escalated the issue to the General Manager. Discriminatory Treatment: There should be no distinction in customer service based on race, social status, or religious background. While MHS may deny this, Nolan's actions strongly suggested such bias. Telling me, "don't ever contact me again" was appalling, especially when I pointed out his unkept promises and how he was treating me differently from other customers. Recommendations for Potential Buyers Based on my experience, I strongly recommend the following: Consider Alternatives: If possible, avoid MHS for your RV purchase. I regret not following advice from fellow veterans who warned me against them, simply because MHS had the specific vehicle I wanted. Pre-purchase Inspection: Always have a pre-purchase inspection conducted even with new RVs, regardless of the dealership. You'll likely discover issues requiring repairs. Get it in Writing: Ensure all verbal promises made during the sales process are documented to avoid later denials and accusations of misconstrued information. Thorough Inspection: Before finalizing the purchase, confirm in writing that all identified issues have been repaired. Don't rely solely on verbal assurances. Ask for a checklist and conduct a thorough walk-through/orientation. Consider Junior Sales Staff: While it may be difficult, especially for first-time buyers, consider working with a junior salesperson. They are often more eager to establish positive customer relationships compared to seasoned salespeople who may prioritize sales figures over customer care. In addition: Consider looking beyond Google reviews and consult the Better Business Bureau (BBB) for a more balanced perspective. You'll find that MHS has one of the lowest scores on the BBB. It's also concerning that MHS offers an $80 discount at their parts store in exchange for positive Google reviews. This practice incentivizes biased reviews and makes it difficult for potential buyers to find objective information. read more

We had an amazing experience purchasing our Dream Coach at MHSRV this past month (March 2025). First of all our salesman was excellent (Brad Kimler) ... not only did he go above and beyond our expectations, but he ensured our purchasing experience with MHSRV was professional and straightforward throughout the entire process from start to finish. We traded in 2 RV's (2002 and 2024) and the MHSRV offer for both was fair and reasonable and he worked diligently to get us an excellent negotiated purchase price on our new 2025 Coach. Our finance experience was also outstanding with Chris Purcell. He worked his magic to get us a GREAT rate for our loan financing which exceeded our expectations and also offered us an exceptional RV Complete service package for our new Coach which provides full warranty for 5 years from date of purchase. To have this peace of mind with such a large investment is very reassuring and comforting ... we have already been on one road trip to a college baseball weekend and the Coach performed beautifully. Finally, the RV prep experience and pick-up was First Class. Abby was our Service Team lead and she worked diligently to ensure that our Coach was in pristine condition when we picked it up to drive home. Every item we had identified on our initial inspection and walk-through was addressed properly by her top-notch service staff (Omar and Joel were our service technicians) ... and even though we ran into an issue with the electronic controller for the headlight operations, Abby used her expertise and skills to find a replacement part and get the Coach ready to roll to meet our pick-up timeline. We even had an opportunity to spend the night after purchasing the Coach at the MHSRV campground which is located on their dealership property. We used the evening to check out all RV systems so that in the event anything needed attention, the MHSRV Service Team could address any issues found the following day before we headed home - and they did so without issue. We even received a full exterior wash and interior cleaning before heading home. Overall a truly wonderful experience at MHSRV with the purchase of our new 2025 Fleetwood Discovery LXE Coach. We purchased a 2016 Forest River Charleston in October 2015. This is a beautiful Motorhome but we encountered some problems early on. It seems as though when it left the Forest River Plant it didn't quite pass final inspection. There were small issues like the dishwasher didn't lock, the bulbs were not secure in the lights, the BOSE system was not connected, the passenger set recliner would not retract, several power outlets were not connected, the convection oven was not secured properly and the washer dryer was not secured properly. The paint job was poorly sealed on the left side of the coach. The RAM securing the largest slide-out was defective....something that clearly should have been a recall since we learned that there were problems with this item! Our storage compartment below was flooded, ruining everything. When we contacted Forest River we did not get any help. They literally told us there was nothing we could do. We were on the road and had to get to MHSRV. What a nightmare of a trip. I had to fly back to South Carolina because of my trial schedule. After many attempts to resolve the problems, it seemed like something else would go wrong. MHSRV did what they could do to help us. The service department went above and beyond to help us. Unfortunately, they didn't get any support from Forest River. I was completely shocked...brought me to tears actually. My husband was stuck in Texas with a full refrigerator and pantry and supplies for a long trip when he got the word that it would take months before a part would come in! I contacted Forest River. I just paid for a flight for myself to get home. Now we had to rent a moving truck to bring our belongings home...$1,000 later. I contacted Forest River to see if they could offer us some support of any kind to defray the cost of this nightmare trip. I was told by Mike Bukowski of Forest River that there was nothing they could do. I called MHSRV service department and asked what they could do. Say no more I was told...we will take care of you. They did! Folks, when you make an investment like this, your expectations are such that these major problems would not occur at least not so soon after purchase! The maker of this coach Forest River did absolutely nothing! Many thanks to Grant, the service department supervisor and to J.P., Glenn, Corey and countless others who helped us during this time. I can't thank you guys enough for my experience in purchasing a new RV. Everyone (Coach, Billy, Curtis, Mat and Robert) was extremely nice and very diligent in helping me through the process. Doing this all on line was scary in the beginning but when I arrived at your dealership I realized I was dealing with professionals and not just a dealer. You can own a dealership or you can provide a the means to be a great dealership. MHSRV definitely provides the means and professionalism that goes with a great dealership. From your on-site ( and free I might add) Restaurant for customers to the Service area and the delivery process you guys made it all feel right and never once did I feel like I was making a mistake or have second thoughts. What an experience and process! It was simply an awesome way for me to feel good about buying new when I normally would not. When my wife and I started our RV search a few years ago it was crazy. We spend over a year looking at different coaches and went to dozens of dealerships in several states. None of the other dealers we visited holds a candle to what MHSRV has in a dealership! Keep in mind I said we looked for over a year! We ended up purchasing from an individual because no dealer made me feel good about our purchase! But that was all erased when I drove on to the MHSRV lot. The minute I arrived in my old RV I was absolutely blown away!! Just the sheer size of the place is awesome! But seeing all those RV's hooked up like a campground that was just the best! Each one I walked in was like walking into my own. The lights were on and the AC was blowing cold and it was just remarkable! I was even given a golf cart to ride around on without a salesman to tag along! What?! That's crazy!! Who does that?! MHSRV does, that's who! Guys, this was simply the best way to end the search for a new RV. Now there is one negative to this purchase. Sorry to end this on a bad note but when I got home my wife loved it and said to me; you better get me a Washer and Dryer in here. When I asked why she said "we're going to be doing a lot of traveling." So now I got to find her a Washer and Dryer. But on the good side of that, during my deliver process Mat told me the hook ups were there so that's good! I can't say enough about how great this experience was and how great you guys were! **BUYER BEWARE** MHSRV is a great place to SHOP, but NOT to BUY. They are a "VOLUME" dealer, not a "QUALITY" dealer. So, that means they don't care about the condition of the coaches they sell, since they just sell on a mass quantity basis. Their website says they are the #1 "VOLUME" dealer in the world. They have an excellent selection of coaches to shop that come along with a cheap price. **HOWEVER**, if you take the chance of buying at MHSRV with that "cheap price" you will sacrifice everything else. Cheap price is all you will get. If you enjoy being lied to then buy here. Just expect NO service, NO call backs, Incompetent Service Work, uneducated and disrespectful staff after the sale is final. The NEW coaches are not checked and not completed to roll off the dealership. So, make sure you go over the coach with a fine tooth comb, because once you roll off the dealership don't expect anything to get fixed or get any response after you call. I made the mistake of buying my first NEW $100k + motor coach here and had several issues since purchase. Had it in the Service Department 4-5 times, with horribly incompetent sloppy work after months, and vacation time lost in the process. The service department has a 2-3 month backlog if you can actually get someone on the phone to get your coach serviced. So, after you buy, expect to wait a couple months to get your NEW or USED coach fixed, or not fixed in my case. I had to call the coach manufacturer several times to call MHSRV for me so I would get a call back, ridiculous. I've been in the sales and customer service business for 24 years, and this company transaction has been the worst experience I've ever encountered. The only positive from this company was the finance department. They were professional and courteous. I have since sold my motor home to a competing dealer and will never recommend anyone to buy at MHSRV. Do yourself a favor, and DON'T BUY here. Go and buy elsewhere and save yourself money, frustration, cancelled vacations, time, etc. If you gamble and buy at MHSRV, I wish you a lot of luck, and don't recommend signing the arbitration agreement! Great compassionate experience! My wife and I, at age 76, had asked John to help us select what was to be probably our last motor home purchase. We have camped all our lives, but my wife had had a stroke two months earlier and this new motor home purchase was to be just what she needed as a goal while she struggled to regain her ability to walk. Due to John's personal care, the selection of the correct motor home and the paperwork went very smoothly. I boarded a plane to fly from our home in the U.P. of Michigan to Dallas with my cashier's check in hand. On arrival in Dallas I received an emergency call that my wife had taken a terrible fall and hit her head. I needed to return home immediately. I really hated having to call John to cancel the purchase since I had already had such support and care offered by John and the MHSRV crew. When I reached John and explained what had happened to my wife, I was met with nothing but sincere compassion and concern for her safety. John told me not to worry about the purchase, told me to get on a plane home immediately, and that he would take care of the cancellation of the purchase. He relieved all of the pressure that I was feeling at that moment, allowing me to focus only on my wife's safety and recovery. Throughout the next few days, John handled all of the cancellations with care and courtesy and was even able to return our deposit when it became obvious that the fall would alter our future plans. I have great respect for the grace that John, and the company and people that he works for, exhibited at a crucial time in our lives. If there is any possibility in the future that my wife can recover well enough to again camp, I will seek out John and the MHSRV crew in Dallas in a heartbeat to make that purchase. We bought a brand new motorhome yesterday and are currently driving it back to california. All i can say is from start to finish this has been an easy smooth and wonderful 5 star experience. Lupe in sales and Billy in financing were excellent in getting back to us and getting us the info we needed before we purchased the motorhome and all the way through the entire process answering all of our questions and we had many. Lupe knew his business well and went the extra mile for us. Martha at the desk was great and scheduled a free shuttle from the airport to the motorhome lot. They picked us up from the airport and were there waiting when our plane landed. Billy in financing made the paperwork process short and simple. Austin in service was absolutely phenomenal. Showed us all the ins and outs of the motorhome, again knew his vehicles inside and out, very friendly, and professional We stayed the night on the property and in the morning called them at 8 am to report two minor repairs. They responded immediately and Austin was there within 15 minutes and fixed the problems and we were on our way. I was a little leery in buying out of state and reading previous reviews , but i would not hesitate to refer anybody here. Excellent knowledge friendly staff. I love this place MHSRV.com and Carl Luallen in Alvarado, Texas. They have a first class operation their prices are the best by far! As far as dealerships locally from everyone around the country I hear it is a nightmare getting things done. Even if you spent $30,000 more buying locally they still treat you like a number! Forest River has been great for any warranty items that come up! You have to remember things will go wrong! I have sold real estate for over 35 years and have yet to see the perfect home. When you consider taking a 20-30,000 pound motor home down the road it is like having 3.5 earthquake every time on you RV. But the pros so outweigh the cons of RV life. They picked me up at the airport and gave me a loaner car for the night to go out to eat or whatever. The paper work took 15-20 minutes! They did not even want to do the paperwork until I stayed overnight in the coach and looked for anything wrong! They have it down to a science! I know that some folks have a lemon from the start but that could be any dealer or RV mfgr. Hope to go back and buy another some day but for now I am loving my Georgetown 364TS with two full baths! It is great for the grandchildren! Remember with these prices they are so busy they have many folks waiting to speak with them! So patience is worth it! Dennis King read more

My wife and I are from MN and have been searching for the perfect first RV. While searching online, we located one at MHSRV. It was a year and a half old and had under 5,000 miles. It was also priced far under anything else we compared it to. I decided to call and spoke to Andrew. He was a new salesman to MHSRV but had experience in sales from another dealership. We chatted and because it was late in the day, we agreed to a "walk around" via FaceTime the following morning. As agreed, Andrew contacted me and was able to show and answer every question we had. He assured me that this coach was "as new". We were a bit skeptical but decided to put the required $2000 down to hold it until we could see it in person. We arrived the following Saturday and met Andrew. He was very courteous and comforting as he knew this was a big purchase for us. We drove out to the RV and met Juan the technician who was prepping the RV. Both Andrew and Juan were very patient and explained everything in detail. We could tell that they knew their RV's and were not BS'ing their way through the instruction. Overall, I can't say enough of MHSRV, Andrew and Juan. We would like to say a big thank you to Staven Corey with MHSRV for helping us find the just right Class C to down size from a Class A motor home. Staven was very knowledgeable of his inventory that he had on hand. Staven listened to what we said we had to have and what we thought we wanted in a Class C. Staven showed us Class C's that we were describing that we wanted, however by him listening to us we ended up looking at a 2018 Chateau Class C that he said had all the features we had told him we wanted. He was right we ended up getting what we both wanted. We could not be any happier with our choice. Staven's professionalism, knowledge, kindness, and him being very attentive to what we each said we had to have made our experience in purchasing a Class C very rewarding. We took a 2 hour short trip this past week-end to just get a feel how this Class C would preform on a trip and we were very please with how the Chateau Class C handle. We purchased a used 2009 Beaver Patriot Thunder Motorhome. From the very beginning this was an excellent experience., Mr. Mark Griffith the Sales Manager handled our purchase. We were treated so poorly there I guess because we bought used, or they just did not know what customer service was. By the time we made it to Louisiana we knew this was not for us. Wow - My experience with MHSRV has been fantastic. We traded our Winnebago Adventurer 35K because the manufacturer couldn't seem to get the full wall slideout to work for multiple uses. Traded for a 2018 Coachmen Mirada 35KB and everything has been 100% satisfactory. We wrote a check for our purchase, but the finance guy doing the closing paperwork was proficient and prompt. Our salesperson actually brought this coach to our attention off the back lot because it was so new it hadn't been checked in yet. I can't help but wonder how many of the bad reviews here are because someone purchased an RV they weren't confident in owning? We've had almost a dozen coaches, trailers and 5th wheels over the past 20 years and I found MHSRV to be fully competent, priced more competitively than I expected and was GREAT on follow-up! We ordered our 2021 Thor Tiburon online, we live in Washington State. We flew to Alvarado to pick it up and drive it home. Out of any purchase we have ever made, this was the most seamless and stress free. Mitch the salesman was always available by phone to answer any questions we may have had. And, Billy was easy to work with during the finance portion of the transaction. We spent our first night at the campground there at the dealership. This is where really came to appreciate the fact that MHSRV recommended staying the first night just in case any issues arise on a brand new RV. Mike was the tech that helped us with the walk through of the new rig. He was very thorough and informative and was able to troubleshoot an issue with the A/C unit. Mike, as well as Mitch and Billy were all great to work with. If we decide to purchase again, we will definitely go to MHSRV to do it. read more
