very frustrating coming to a state office for your needs. I recommend MVD Now I usually go to the 98th st location and usually get fast service. This time I chose to come here because I received a vehicle from a trust. I was told 3 different times that I needed different documents. So after a 4th trip, I was able to register the vehicle. It is VERY frustrating that everyone is NOT on the same page with the state MVD offices. There are too many people involved with different opinions. I hope that the state can get a set list of documents needed to avoid having customers take several trips to accomplish a transaction. I am going to write the review as I sit and wait. Look, I know the MVD is notoriously AWFUL. The place is usually packed, the staff is over worked, and it's 100% understandable. However, during COVID-2020, MVD's are now "appointment only." So, you wait about 1 month if not MORE for your day. This is why New Mexico cops aren't pulling folks over for out-of-date registration, in some cases it's not your fault. Anyway, I made an appointment for my Uncle who just moved here from Utah. We waited over a month for this appointment. Last month me and the boyfriend came to this exact location-- I would have given it 5 stars on that day. Here I sit and this dude who is the manager is nothing short of an ______ (swear word). If I wasn't elite, I'd use all the words. There are only 5 people allowed in. Mike Smith says this is the "Governors orders," but that's a lie. It is 10 people and that's for gatherings. But it wouldn't matter because me coming with my Uncle it was still just 5 of us in. Me being the 5th, so his counting is also off. Mike Smith tells me to wait in the 53 degree outside. I tell him I am paying and he said "well, hand him some cash." Real talk. Last month the same restrictions were in place and 5 people were at the window and the rest were spread about. Nevertheless, Mike Smith lets a man exit so, I can stay inside. His tone is mean as can be. He is rude and it isn't busy, the place isn't packed, and we nicely explained what was going on. To have a GROWN man talk so poorly to not just us but HIS STAFF is WRONG. Mike Smith needs to get another job. He needs to learn some curtesy. He needs to speak to people with respect like he is getting paid a wage to work with the public and have other humans work beneath him. I just watched him in the most rude manner belittle his employee who didn't have a mask on. Though masks need to be on, telling a grown man "that needs to be behind your ears, I don't care where you're going: YOU KEEP YOUR MASK ON" loud enough for others to hear is degrading. Maybe Mike Smith gets off being degrading, dehumanizing, and awful. I don't know. Now a female has taken over "door duty" and with 5 people in here already, is letting others come socially distance sit apart from one another. There are a total of 7 people in here. She didn't make this mom & son split or sit outside. She is being kind, educational, in fact she is the same woman who helped me and the boyfriend! MVD, give her the management job. NM MVD-- what are you doing with this kind of angry human at the wheel!? Does the staff here have a high "revolving door"? Does this place get a lot of bad reviews? Is it because you have Mike Smith at the wheel? I think so. Attitude is contagious. Mike Smith's attitude is the worst of the worst. It is not because of one person, employee, or the group-- it is simply because Mike Smith wants his paycheck and not the job that comes with it, or so it feels like. There is NEVER a reason to talk to grown adults the way you do, Mike Smith. I hope your chain of command reads this and sits down with each and every employee to ask about you on a REAL level. Is this a bad day? Prayers that it is, because working under this everyday would be unbearable. I will NEVER come back here. Ever. MVD's are rough. The pandemic sucks. You, Mike Smith, amplify the worst without remorse, empathy, or understanding. Please do yourself a favor and schedule your appointment at another location this one is full of unprofessional state workers, they literally work for us and they they don't even have the decency to treat us the customers respect! As soon as I walked in i when to the information desk because I had a question, ask the lady my question and she right away game me an attitude told me that I should have that information in the text message they sent me and then proceeded to give me the information I needed, I told her not to be mad at me that I went to the information desk because I had a question lol. Then when the lady at the window call my number, after a minute or two she called me a lier right to my face (lol) because she didn't believe I had my mother waiting outside in the car because she couldn't come in do to medical reasons, when I finally decided to go get her and walked in with her, the teller's expression was priceless lol. Anyway I don't think this lady's here should be calling people (customers) names and think is ok! I was going to try and talked to a supervisor and report her but they probably won't even bother because the way they all act in there is so normal to them. NM MVD on Coors SW just provided us with exemplary service, patience, and kindness. First time in was my error; I apparently called and made a phone appointment with some private company MVD (you can only make an appointment with NM MVD on line). The woman at reception patiently waited as I typed and backspaced on my phone trying to make said appointment quickly. The manager came over and magicked her computer so she could make the appointment for us, on Monday since this was a Friday. We arrived on Monday morning, despite not receiving the confirmation email and text, bearing every imaginable relevant document for our title. However, the auto dealer had not completed the info on the old title (despite two weeks and two trips to their office) so off we went to get the required blanks filled in. MVD had given us a callback letter, so we returned there after a 45 minute wait at the dealer. (I would have thought doing auto title transfers would be routine for a dealership, but it seems not.) It took one more intervention by the manager to locate the info regarding the Centennial plate we wished to retain, but we were finally done. Sincere thanks to all 5 MVD staff members we worked with. They were unfailingly cheerful, helpful, and patient. (We had to go to a state MVD to keep our old plate. We received better customer service at this state office than we ever got at a private MVD office.) read more

You know, this MVD (strange that it's not DMV) isn't too shabby at all! I've been here twice once in 2013 to set up residency when I first moved here, and today to set up residency again (after my time back in HI). The people are friendly, and they work as quickly as possible to service everyone. You walk in and have to get a ticket with a number. There are boxes around that show which number is being called to which counter; they announce it in English and Spanish. The information desk makes sure you have all the documents you need before sending you to someone to help with your needs. After you see the information/greeting desk, you wait for your number to be called again. This MVD will do a VIN check, so if you need that, come here. I'm not sure which other ones do it, but I found the website to locate DMV's slightly overwhelming and confusing. This said it's a state MVD, so I was able to get my stuff done here even though I am now a resident of Sandoval County. (I knew this one did the VIN check which is why I trekked down here from northerly areas). As I said, everyone was friendly. Expect a wait especially if you come at the first or last of the month. If you make it into the building before 4pm, they'll still take care of you. read more

Very happy with the service I have received at this location. If you are like me and don't want to pay an arm and a leg for something that you would at an "Express" or "Now" location, then you go to the MVD. They have the normal prices and yes, the normal prices and everyone else and their mothers is going there too. Yeah, yeah, I know, I know. In today's day in age, who has time to grab a number and wait in line at the MVD? Not to fret. This location, has got a good system going. I don't know if they are all like this now but they help you get in, out and on your way! You grab a number when you walk in and you are called up twice. The first time in about 15 minutes so that you can tell them why you are there and so that they can verify you have everything you need. Then, hopefully in your case you do, then you wait another 20-25 minutes to see someone who will help process your needs. I'm thankful for that because I had come another time before hand and realized I didn't have what I needed. It was better to find out in 15 minutes rather than wait 40 minutes to find that they can't help me. To top it off, I came in for a VIN inspection, of which I was quoted $29.99 at a "Now" location, at the MVD, it was free. Winning. I have recently relocated, so I went in to get my NM LICENSE. In this process I have also recently gotten married, so I'm in the process of changing my name. With that said, the lady that assisted me in teller number 7 at 3:30, didn't grab her name but should've, was just extremely rude. She didn't accept the marriage license and said that it was wrong and that I had to figure that out. She didn't even allow me to really talk so I could explain te situation. I get that organizations are short staffed, but there's no reason to be rude. I just hope she was having a bad day, but definitely not worth returning here anymore. read more

We went to this MVD on 3211 Coors SW on 1/29/2018. We got there it was 830 am and they were on #28 and we have #53. Its was our turn and the women that help us was very professional and knew her job very well. She gave the time we needed bam we were done within 30 minutes.
