My Chrysler Pacifica was pretty trashed, with ground in salt from the winter, as well embedded dog hair and and the mess the kids made. I picked MotorCity Detail because of the great reviews and the yelp deal, $50 for $75 worth of service. I was having trouble making it out to Novi from West Bloomfield and Jill, who answered the phones mentioned they can come pick my car up at my house for a $25 fee. I decided to do that and Jill scheduled my appointment for about a week later. Jill and one of the other people who worked there got to my home to take my car around 10am, and said they'd have it back around 4:30. I reiterated how I only needed the inside cleaned and not to worry about the outside. They brought my car back around 5, and it looked good as new. The inside was completely rid of dog hair and ground in salt and all the other messes kids make. It looked like they had given the outside of the van a quick wash, which I appreciate. Jill did let me know that depending on how difficult it would be to get the dog hair out they would possibly have to charge me more, I had told her that was fine. They did end up having to use special tools to get the dog hair out and did end up charging me more, but I didn't mind because she told me that might happen. I am so pleased with how my car turned out. I will definitely use them again after next winter! read more

I do not recommend this detail service. My car was left dirty even after a "full detail" -- with trash still in the cupholders, stains on the ceiling, and old wrappers left behind. They even left garbage in my driveway. When I contacted them, they acknowledged the poor service and agreed to a refund -- then completely ghosted me. No follow-up, no accountability. Save yourself the frustration. There are plenty of other places that actually clean your car and treat you with respect. This isn't one of them. read more

My husband made appointments to get two of our cars detailed at MotorCity Detail. We both drove 30 minutes to drop the first car off and we arrived on time for our 9:30 AM appointment. No one was there. We repeatedly called the number we had for them and got no answer. After waiting 20 minutes, we decided to leave. Apparently, arriving on time for appointments and being responsive when customers call are two kinds of details that this business does not deliver. read more

You know that feeling when you get a big box for Christmas, thinking it's going to be a great present, but it's just...a pair of socks... that's what I felt today. For those who like short reviews: -- I paid $205 for a poorly done interior detailing. It was obvious that they did not shampoo my car. As soon as I got home, I grabbed my sponge, soaked it in water and brushed it over my seats. The results-- my sponge than the $205 I paid. I even attached pics. On top of this, service was terrible. The person working on my car, Jill, said I would get $50 off because my car took longer than 24 hours to clean. However, when I get there to pick up my car and pay, the owner said I heard wrong and that it was only a gift card. The owner also claimed that the car was actually done last night, but he had them redo it this morning. If they did actually indeed redo it, I am shocked at how poorly the redo was. I was legit devastated and regretting not doing a groupon for a diff location :( never again, motor city, never again. You can take your $50 gift card. For those who like long (but detailed) reviews: Here are the details: 1. I own a Ford Fiesta (keep in mind this is a small car) 2. I got the gold package + dog hair fee = $205 3. I made a reservation to drop my car off at 11am on Thursday, July 13. They prefer 9am drop off to ensure you can pick it up same day, so I told them I was fine picking it up Friday at my lunch brunch, in which they told me it would be for sure done by 12. Here's what happened 1. They weren't done on Thursday, which was fine. I'd rather have them do a thorough job and pick it up Friday. 2. It's Friday now, and I arrive at 11:50am. I see two people vigorously vaccuming my car. Jill sees me and said she called me earlier to tell me it wasn't going to be done by 12, but by 1pm. I apologize for not picking up and ask why it was taking so long. She tells me that they booked too many cars to clean and couldn't get to mine. She tells me that they just started it today and have been working at it since 9 am and thought they would be done by 12pm. She felt bad about the inconvenience and said she would take $50 off. I said okay and get dropped off to work. 3. I come pick up my car at 5:50pm right after work. Jill isn't there. Instead, some other guy who says he is the owner. He charges me and instead of taking 50 dollars off, he gives me a gift certificate for $50. I tell him that I was offered $50 off my bill for the inconvenience. He says, no, that I misheard. That the car was actually done last night, but he saw it this morning and had them redo it because he didn't like the results. Please notice how different these two stories are between the worker that I saw clean my car and this owner who claims he was there. 4. I decide to pay and take my car home. Once I'm home I take a good look and notice that my car was obviously not shampooed. Just to make sure, I go in my kitchen and grab a sponge and just wet it with water. I wipe my seats that have dirt from my dog paws and what do you know, it came off. Honestly, I wouldn't have minded not getting the $50 discount that I was told, heck, I wouldn't have even minded if I got charged an extra $50 IFFFFF my car was cleaned well and thoroughly. The owner said that they worked on it last night AND they redid it this morning? pleeaseeee. Don't lie. That's the last thing I can't stand. Will not return. My sponge is more trustworthy. read more

If I was able to give them a lesser rating, I would have. I had them come out to my place of business and clean my 06' Colorado, and they failed miserably on the first attempt. Did they not only half-a$$ the job, they also broke my cup holder by slamming my front row seat forward into the stick shift shroud. The Owner came out personally to oversee the 2nd cleaning, and said that he would replace the cup holder, and as of now I haven't heard a peep out of him and that was approximately 10 months ago. I have made multiple calls to there office and also talked to the Owner who assured me that they were going to take care of me by either sending me a check or personally delivering the money. I have heard nothing from them. As a side note, I also had a gun safe that was attached to by seats with a lock that ended up being stolen. My wife and I were the ONLY people in the world that were aware of this, except of course for the crew that came out to clean my truck on the two separate trips. The cord was snipped and two extra magazines that I had in my glove box were also stolen. I confronted the Owner on this and he absolutely swore that his people would not do this, but like I said, no one else knew about it. I'll let you make your own assumptions on their trustworthiness. SO with that all being said...take the time and clean your vehicle yourself. They are overpriced, and not trustworthy. A very disappointed and aggravated customer (no longer or ever)! read more

From the other reviews and pictures, it looks like they do a fantastic exterior car detailing job. Their interior detailing job was flat-out harmful. I've been away for a month after my interior car detailing and their deep cleaning chemicals haven't soaked in yet. My coupe is worse after it was dropped off than it was before! I let my friend borrow my car while I was away on a separate business trip, and while they kept it tidy, they left a multiple of stains in the front and rear seats. What looked like grease and make-up was said to be no problem when I purchased their higher-end interior-only package. I'm willing to look past most minor things like that they never called me when my car was done (they had the correct number because they texted the receipt after I paid), but they didn't even touch the stains and the car was nearly cleaned out to begin with. I thought it might've been nice if they sprayed the exterior as a courtesy, but they didn't even clean the WeatherTech mats before tossing them in the trunk. If you're looking for a good exterior, they look great. But I wash my own car and it feels like I not only overpaid, but was scammed: small stuff like the rail guards under the seats being smashed from being stepped on, and the fact the stains (the purpose of the detailing) have never looked worse. read more

My 10 year old CR-V had definitely seen better days. After carting my dog around for 2 years, & after an especially muddy day at the dog park, I just couldn't stand it anymore. I emailed Motor City Detail that night & got a response the next day. 2 days later, I was dropping my car off. They did an amazing job. All the dog hair, mud, pine needles from Christmas trees past were all gone. I've spent hours with my own vacuum trying to get the hair & pine needles out. Amazing. Car had so much dog hair, these guys took care of it. Pricey bc my car needed hours of work, but I know it was true bc I tried cleaning my car with a shop vac with little results. They also removed all the seats!!! Highly recommended if you want your car to be showroom quality. Word of advice: if you're car is extremely dirty don't expect people to clean it for the lowest tier. I knew this going in but I could see someone getting upset about this. I am blown away over how clean the interior of my car is! I would have never been able to achieve this type of 'clean' on my own. I have a 2017 Explorer and with two kids, there were spots and spills on the upholstery as well salt and dirt ground into the carpet. Totally went above and beyond when they detailed my car. I had multiple scratches all the way down the side of my car from a tree branch. These scrapes went from turn signal to turn signal down the passenger side. The damage was only surface deep but Motor City detail went the extra mile to not just wax the car but buff out of the scrapes. I used drop off service and couldn't be happier. I used a Groupon. They were fast, honest and had ZERO hassles. I wouldn't wait for a coupon, these guys seem they would cut you a deal on a detail if you just asked for it. I found them on Yelp and saw they had good reviews. I was visiting family in Novi and thought it would be nice to have my Uncle's car cleaned and washed. He is getting old and I don't think he noticed how much dust was on the inside of his car. I was able to bring the car in the same day I called and they had the car ready (3 hours, I said it was dirty) when they said it would be. The car was washed and the inside was like brand new. I forgot to say this was a 14 year old car. I was very impressed and they were all very nice and professional. If I lived around here I would use them again. I appreciate all of their hard work. Took my new 2015 Chrysler 200 there for external detailing. When I arrived they told me they use a different, supposedly better, wax than was advertised on the website - I said ok. It ended up taking 3 hours longer than quoted, which I was fine with. However, when I picked it up the door jams were not clean (a service that was advertised on the website) the coat of wax looked a little thin, and there were some circular scratches on the roof. Since the car was new, I couldn't be sure if the scratches were preexisting, but it looked like it could have been caused by using a dirty circular buffer. I would probably take my car back again, but I would definitely be more vigilant. However, I would not take my Ferrari there (if I had one). The owner was very friendly and helpful. Purchased Groupon for $150 towards $270 detailing. After multiple phone calls trying to book, they finally came out. Just to tell me that it would be an extra $125 to detail the car. Seriously think they were just trying to blow me off due to having a Groupon. Don't sell Groupons if you dont want to honor them. I had my Subaru Forrester detailed here for the first time this weekend. In fact it was the first time I had ever had my car detailed by anybody because I typically do it myself. I waited for my car and there was a nice waiting room as well as a small conference room where I was able to actually get some real work done while I waited. The crew was friendly and they kept me updated a few times while I was waiting. My wheels are beautifully bright and sparkly, the inside is cleaned immaculately, and the outside looks great. They treated my vehicle with TLC and overall I'm quite happy with my car detailing service. Thank you to John, Chris, and Sebastian for doing a very nice job for me. There were a few other customers there while I was waiting who came in and out throughout the day they were all treated very well and respectfully. As was I. Extremely happy and pleased with the outcome of my escape. There were stains all-over the seats in the back and the front seat. Coffee stains That had been there for almost a year. This was my first time getting my car detailed in 5 years, and I can honestly say that my car looks just as good (if not better) as it did the day I got it! I called in and was pleasantly surprised when they told me I could have my car detailed on the same day. As a dog owner, my car was covered in stubborn dog hair, so I expected there to be residual dog hair. However, when I went in to pick up my car, my mouth literally dropped when I saw how clean the interior and exterior were. All cracks and crevices were meticulously cleaned and there was not one dog hair to be found! Don't waste your money. Asked for the "Platinum" interior package which cost $225.00. Arrived to pick up the car and there was still small bits of debris on the carpet. Not a big deal if it was just one or two but I would have done a better job of vacuuming at the diy car wash. The center console still had some coffee drips and various other spots around the car clearly we're not wiped down. The upholstery and carpet shampoo job was only partially done. Looks like they hit a couple areas hard and skipped the rest. Also when I arrived to pick up the car it was running. Not to warm it up for me but this is how they were drying the interior. It must have been running for a good hour or two because my average MPG calculator on the car had dropped by a couple gallons. They ended up charging me for the "Gold" interior package which is $150.00. Still a rip off for the service performed. They did a quick once over on the car. Almost no DETAILING done. read more

This place was amazing. I bought my husband the mid-range inside and out detail, for his birthday. The guys drove out to our house and began right on time. They were super thorough, to the point that we actually had to leave the house without the detail being completely finished. Because of this, the owner planned to have his guys return to complete the job at my husbands place of business (further than our home), and, once again, gave his truck a fresh wash, vacuum and tire detail! They were always very helpful and cordial on the phone, each time I called, and I was never made to feel that our detail was an inconvenience bc of these unexpected occurrences. The job done was not worth $200. I went home and just wiped some of the areas down I was told were stains that would not come out and poof they are gone. I found sap on the outside that I could scrape with my finger your self detailing would not be accurate. Felt like a car wash with inside wipe down. Save your money and go some place else.
