Awesome bagels! The sesame bagel with plain cream cheese is perfection. I always order it lightly…read moretoasted, and it's become my go-to. On my most recent visit, I also tried the black sesame bagel with butter. It was good, but there was a bit more butter than I would have preferred, and the standard toast wasn't quite crispy enough for my liking. That's an easy fix though, and I'll just ask for it toasted a bit longer and less butter next time. I really love the location of this spot and am hoping to check out their other location soon. They share a great outdoor seating area with Sea Wolf Bakers and also have a small amount of indoor seating. There's usually a line on weekday mornings and a longer one on weekends, but it moves surprisingly quickly, so the wait has never felt unreasonable. One thing I especially appreciate is how light these bagels are compared to some other Seattle bagel shops. They have a great chew without feeling overly dense. Service has always been friendly and efficient. I still haven't tried any of their fish sandwiches, but that's next on my list. Until then, I'm perfectly happy sticking with a classic sesame bagel and cream cheese.

I love how they don't go too crazy on the cream cheese. There is a lovely outdoor seating area as well as indoor seating. Staff are polite.

THE SHORT OF IT: - Absolutely exceptional ambiance, food,…read moreand service. I can't wait to go back! Service was quick, attentive, and everything arrived in a very timely manner given how busy they were on a Saturday evening. The menu truly has something for everyone and the wine list is exceptional. We also had a birthday at the table and still felt special and well-attended despite every table being full. THE INSIDE: - The stained glass windows and hanging lights give such a warm, cozy, yet upscale vibe. - There are many tables and booths. - Handicapped accommodations can be made, but I'd ask in advance, as some areas are tougher to navigate than others. THE FOOD WE TRIED: - Pasta dish: Garlic Fennel Sausage, Oyster Mushrooms, and Snap Peas with Creczenza, White Truffle Oil, and Tagliarini balsamic, red and green basil, parsley, grana padano. Absolutely stunning. I could not finish it, so I'd suggest splitting it with someone else if you can't take it to go. It was so ridiculously flavorful and fresh. I want to eat this 11 more times. - Scallops dish: Sea Scallops Seared in Cast Iron with Oyster Mushrooms and Yellow Corn Risotto asparagus pistou, red basil, white truffle oil, crescenza, fine herbes. Presentation was gorgeous and scallops were melt-in-your-mouth perfect. The corn risotto underneath would honestly be just as good on its own. - Steak dish: Snake River Farms Wagyu Baseball Cut Sirloin 9 oz. The savory compound butter on top was the perfect amount, and the two sauces on the side (chimichurri and a brown one I wish I could name, it's in the pictures) were so good I could have eaten them by a spoon. Steak was cooked to an ideal medium rare with a perfect sear. This was the star of the table, even with everything else being SO GOOD. -Seafood: Big Easy Jambalaya, deep creole flavors, unapologetically spicy wild gulf prawns, chicken, house made andouille, tasso. The person who ordered this said it reminded them of straight New Orleans fare, so I trust their experience! Properly savory and chock full of flavor. SIDE NOTES: - Someone at our table had a seafood allergy and had no issues despite the vast amount of seafood on the menu and around us. - Reservation system is quick and easy. It feels a tiny bit cramped to move around outside of your seated area, but once you're seated, you absolutely won't care given how delicious everything is! - We ate here before attending an opera and had a cozy corner booth reserved months in advance, so that may have improved the experience a bit. :)

We came about 30 mins early for reservation and the host was able to accommodate our early arrival. The restaurant is nice inside and has a unique vibe. When our waitress arrived, I informed her it was my birthday and overall her energy was just dry throughout our service. Not that I was expecting her to give me a cake but a smile would have went a long way. I ordered one of their margaritas and it was meh, overall I just didn't have a good cocktail anywhere we dined in Seattle. I ordered one of their king salmon dishes that was "creole style" but severely lacked seasoning. My boo ordered the steak, which also lacked salt and was served with boxed mash potatoes, which they should be ashamed for at this price point. I also had 4 oysters as an appetizer and they were so small! I was expecting more from the seafood as it seems to be what Seattle is known for. They oysters were fresh, but $22 for four tiny oysters is offensive. This experience may have gotten another star if the service was better but this is place I'd just skip.

We came on the earlier side and ended up waiting around 20 minutes before ordering. I got the dover and fries, and this was probably one of the best fish and chips dishes I have ever had! The fish was super duper thin and coated generously, and then topped with some seasoning mix that was so flavorful. The fries / potatoes were also insanely crispy and flavorful - the skins were the best part. I also really liked the tarter sauce that it came with! I can still remember how it all tastes. Definitely recommend the dover and chips, and I'll have to be back to try other menu items!

We ended up waiting a little over an hour, even after the restaurant officially closed, but they still served everyone who was already in line, which I appreciated. Once inside, the staff were very friendly and apologetic about the wait. Service was a bit slow, but that's understandable considering how packed they were. The restaurant itself is also fairly small, which likely contributed to the wait. We ordered the fried fish sandwich, salmon sandwich, chowder, and fried oysters. Overall, everything was good, but the standouts for me were the salmon sandwich and the chowder. The salmon sandwich was served cold, which initially caught me off guard because I was expecting it to be hot. After taking a bite, though, I understood why it was served that way, it was fresh, flavorful, and worked really well. The fried oysters were also delicious, especially paired with the dipping sauce. The chowder wasn't quite like the style I'm used to, but it was still rich, flavorful, and worth ordering. The fried fish sandwich--the item I was most excited about--was good, just not my favorite of everything we tried. The best way I can describe it is as an elevated Filet-O-Fish. It wasn't bad by any means, but it's probably not something I'd order again. As for the long line, I wasn't upset about waiting because I knew they were busy, but I probably wouldn't wait over an hour again. I would definitely come back if there wasn't such a long line, because the food and friendly service made it worth another visit.

I follow Sonrisa on IG and have been wanting to try their donuts for ages now!…read more My opportunity came today when they were doing a pop-up at the Lavender Harvest Festival at JB Family Growers in Woodinville!! The staff were super kind and friendly! I thought it would be a long line and sure enough, we beat the long lines! They did their pop-up at 1pm and surprised there was no line around 12:40pm so we were 4th/5th people in line. Whew! The line did grow behind us so it is popular! They had 4 flavors: - lavender lemon curd - taro mochi - pistachio sesame - passionfruit mango Out of all the flavors, the passionfruit mango was my fave! They weren't super sweet either and the texture from the taro mochi and pistachio sesame was unique! It wasn't just cream based like most donut/brioche places. They seem to rotate their flavors a lot on the season and such so it's not always the same flavors. Their Thai milk tea with sea salt cream was also a highlight! Not too sweet at all and the sea salt cream was perfect! I know they reside in Yakima now but it's always fun to see when they're back in Seattle! I can finally cross this off my list but when they're in town and I can make it, I'll definitely come back!

Wow, what yummy brioche donuts. Lucked into their pop-up at Cafe Aloe in Bellevue on Sat morning,…read moreas I was headed to the Bellevue Art Fair. I loved the mango ones the best, but the taro was good too. Took them home and had them with a home made latte, in my new octopus mug I picked up from the fair. I saw on their web site that owner/chef Jing makes other flavors too. I think the strawberry ones would be great. I also think it would be great to be hidden away in Jing's kitchen, and them pop out and eat them when still warm. LOL!
