This lady helped my mom on 11/15/25 at 9:30 am. She's great on should serve as an example for the entire hospital. Well done. LG

This person is a fine example of quality care. My mom was soiled because her purewick was not connected properly. She properly connected the device then cleaned my mom's soiled bedding changing it. She was compassionate and caring. Great work.

My dad holding on to his water bottle we brought from home, since he wasn't offered any water.

It took us to meet Diann who normally works in admin overseeing patient care but was working with patients in the maternity ward on the midnight and I must say she was great. Another nurse that deserves an honorable mention is Sherry. She was a true replica of what a nurse should be, she was my daughters angel (Lisa was great too). We arrived at South Nassau Hospital 9:30am yesterday, and my daughter received sufficient care but the type of care and concern Diane and Sherry gave her and the other patients was commendable! When women are in active labor a little kindness goes a long way. Simple things like bringing a warm blanket to mom or offing one to dad, or just holding her hand or talking her through an epidural makes a world of difference. These three beautiful women made up for the midnight crew that ignored the call and told me they would show me how to unhook my daughter so I can take her to the bathroom myself when she needed to go.

By that time they stuck her 4 times trying to get blood. That's unexceptable! She knows she has no veins and told them that. But kept sticking her any, because I wasn't back there. But my mom told them, and because she elderly they took advantage of her. Repercussions will follow after this visit. They're all standing around talking and shopping on their cell phones instead of doing their jobs!!!!!! I will pursue this, because something has to be done about this!!!! The floors were so filthy. I had to ask for a custodian to clean the floor!! DON'T TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ELDERLY PEOPLE!!!!

However my recent experience was totally different from the 1st. I had to go though emergency, was placed in the lower floor, probably because I has pneumonia. And the care was a complete difference from my first experience. Some of the staff needs to be restrained. I had a sense that my being a senior had something to do with lack of quality care.

This hospital failed me -- not just clinically, but systemically. And unless you are prepared to…read moreadvocate HARD for yourself every step of the way, you may find yourself gaslit, dismissed, and unsafe. 1. Unsafe Discharge Pressure & Gaslighting Multiple staff attempted to discharge me while I still had necrotic tissue in my leg. I was in severe pain, had not yet met with infectious disease, and had not been cleared by physical therapy. Yet I was pressured, told I was "medically cleared," and even cornered by staff when I was alone -- no nurse, no attending doctor, just case managers and social workers trying to get me out. My care was being dictated not by medical needs, but by financial convenience. I overheard conversations about me being "here too long," and was told directly that insurance wasn't going to cover anything past a certain point. 2. Disorganized Care Teams, Contradicting Info Every person I spoke to had a different answer. Nurses said I wasn't cleared. PT said I couldn't go home safely. The doctor would say "tomorrow or the next day," while social work insisted I had to leave immediately. I was not medically cleared. My wound vac was still in, I was still a fall risk (bed alarm active), and I had no mobility training or plan in place. I repeatedly expressed that I did not feel safe going home and was told things like: "You don't need your dad here, you're 32 years old." "You're getting upset, that's not helpful." "Just think positive." Every attempt I made to speak up was spun as me being "difficult," when I was simply asking for a consistent, safe, medically sound discharge plan. 3. Neglect of Patient Autonomy & Emotional Manipulation One case manager in particular was unprofessional, condescending, and dismissive. I eventually had to say, "I don't want her assigned to my case anymore." I was no longer willing to speak with her due to the sheer emotional manipulation I experienced. Thankfully, she was replaced -- a silent admission that I wasn't overreacting. Also -- they tried to go around me and call my father behind my back. I'm an adult, fully lucid, and medically sound enough to make my own decisions. And yet, they thought involving my family without consent was acceptable. 4. Minimizing Real Trauma I was in this hospital because of a traumatic dog attack. I was bitten badly, required surgery, wound vac treatment, and narcotics for pain management. I expressed legitimate fears about being discharged into a home alone, medicated, and vulnerable to potential abuse from visiting aides (an experience many people have endured). Instead of validating these concerns, I was told: "Everyone is vetted." "You just need to think positively." "There's nothing to worry about." That is gaslighting. I know what trauma-informed care looks like -- and this was not it. 5. What Helped (Slightly) The only reason I agreed to discharge was: * My entire medical team -- including surgeon, hospitalist, nurse, and attending -- finally came into alignment and confirmed, in unison, that I was safe to go home. * My best friend called the hospital on my behalf to advocate when I was too exhausted to keep fighting. * I was told I could discontinue home care at any time and would be followed up by a doctor. Still -- this was not a safe or dignified process. It was a coerced exit, not a compassionate transition. Final Thoughts: This hospital does not center patient safety. It centers discharge quotas, insurance deadlines, and damage control. I was not asking for luxury care. I was asking for a basic, safe plan, consistent communication, and to not be treated like an obstacle for wanting both. If I had not fought tooth and nail to stay one more day, I would have been discharged with necrotic tissue in my leg. That alone should say everything. I do not feel safe recommending this hospital to anyone. And I sincerely hope someone inside this system takes accountability -- before another patient is sent home in pain, confusion, or worse.

Point: at 4:20 a PCA woke me and asked if I wanted to bathed at 6:00. A nurse needed to start a iv for a test. After 5 failed attempts, she was able to start one. My arms look like they were beaten by a rubber hose. The doctor in charge of my care made changes to my medication without speaking to me. Yes, I was furious about this. On another incident, they were unable to get into the locked medication container that held my own medication. This happened a second night and delayed my taking my medication by 2 hours. From that night on, I held onto my own medication. This list can go on for sometime, what I am saying here is research the rehabilitation center you are looking at. Speak with the patients and staff. See how long rehab sessions are going to be. And ask to sample the food!!

Despite this prognosis, our family continued to advocate for additional testing and treatment options. By the second week, we noticed that he was opening his eyes and attempting to respond. We informed the nursing staff, but they seemed unaware of these changes. When we later showed the doctor, he stated that it was the first time he had seen such improvement. We explained that these responses had been occurring for two days and had already been reported to the nurse, yet there was no documentation in his chart. In the third week, my uncle became fully awake. Unfortunately, our concerns about his care continued. There were instances where he remained soiled for extended periods without being cleaned, and when we brought this to the attention of the nursing staff, some responded rudely and dismissively, stating they had more important tasks to handle. We understand that healthcare workers are often busy and under significant pressure, but our family felt that critical changes in my uncle's condition were overlooked and that his basic care needs were not consistently met. Based on our experience, we were deeply dissatisfied with the quality of care and communication provided during his hospitalization.

I couldn't see a faint line when they showed me and I didn't feel comfortable putting him on antibiotics so I called them five minutes after we left to cancel the culture and went to our pediatricians. No red throat and no strep. Staff is nice and place is clean but definitely won't be taking my kids back. It's become a waste of money to receive incorrect diagnoses.

First Issue: I made an appointment online and took the last appointment. However, I wanted my boyfriend to get a COVID test as well so I called and they made an appointment for him. We arrive to our appointment, he has the link confirming his appointment and Oceanside says they don't have him down. So somehow, whoever I spoke with scheduled him for Rockville's location. Second issue: when I called the receptionist stated they take my insurance. I get there and they DO NOT. I was told that the cost would be $195 out of pocket. The lady at the front desk looked at me like I was in poverty and said "you can go to city MD for free there are a lot of free testing sites." I NEEDED the test that day so I just paid and got a bill to get reimbursed by my insurance due to federal laws and COVID testing. Third issue: I get a receipt with nothing but my information and the amount paid. Knowing I would need an itemized receipt I asked for one and was denied due to the fact it had medical information-they tried using HIPPA as an excuse for laziness. I have always been able to get an itemized receipt as it is MY medical information. After being rudely told to go to city MD I didn't want to continue to argue with the receptionist. FINALLY! I call billing to receive an itemized receipt, and they tell me I was OVERCHARGED. I am being refunded 70 dollars and getting my itemized receipt. I can only imagine how much money this location has stolen from people during a pandemic. Convenience of having an appointment system means nothing when the service is awful and you get overcharged. Do not recommend anybody coming here.
