I had just moved from out of state and he had been recommended, so I made the appointment for three months away. The morning of the appointment - three months later- I had not gotten a reminder call from the office so I called to confirm my 1:00 pm appointment. I was told the appointment had been canceled because they had not received my paperwork and had called to remind me about the appointment and the paperwork on three different occasions. I asked what number they had been calling. It was an incorrect number - off by one digit. Since I'm not in the habit of giving an incorrect version if my own number, it was clear there had been a typo when they input my number. I told the receptionist my correct number and asked that they honor the appointment that day. She said she would go and talk to the doctor. When she returned to the phone, she told me that not only would they not see me as scheduled but that the doctor had said they would not schedule me at all - ever - because they hadn't received my paperwork. While initially I was upset and disappointed, I'm actually quite glad it turned out this way because I wouldn't want to see a doctor who has so little compassion or consideration.

The patient him or herself can't make decisions about changing routines much less physicians. It pained me to see the daily frustration, her pain medication wasn't working. I consulted my own hospitalization's pages to find a doctor whose speciality is Geriatrics. Dr. Peter Schlissler is a prince among men. He had my parents and me in his office...cancer is a group activity, or it should be. The oncologist had no such office or family meeting. Dr. Schlisser spoke at length about my mother's condition and what we could expect. I told my mother to bring prescriptions in a bag, even empty bottles. Dr. Schlissler commented that these prescriptions were all but no longer used, it was no wonder that the medications were not working. There are better things and better dosages. I had tears to think that this doctor not only provided the revelation about the illness itself, but that there was better, pro-active treatment. Dr, Schissler wanted to examine the patient himself. You could see what kind of a person he is when he took the wheel with her wheelchair. He pushed it himself, slowly, chatting with my mother, mindful of her condition, respectful of it. More tears for me. That appointment lasted nearly five hours. He found that she had severe osteoporosis which no other doctor had tested for. He set about protocols to ease her pain, which eased our worry, he gave us a sense of control at long last. It was such a sense of relief to find Dr. Schissler and his medical practice. He restored our family by providing the respect my battle weary parents needed to carry on. Dr. Schissler is gentle and wise. He was there for my mother every step of the way. As surely as he told us at that first appointment that we were no where near ready for Hospice, he later wisely knew when it was the time. Imagine the dignity and grace. Anyone would do a family member or friend a service by having a consultation with Dr. Schissler and Associates. Dr. Desai is the kind of doctor that you don't see anymore. He cares about his patients, he calls…read moreand follows up to make sure you have your medications and IF he hears that you have been to hospiital or ER he will personally call himself to make sure that you are ok. Yes, there are some practices that just see you as a number or a dollar sign but this provider is very compassionalte and understanding and will help you even after hours and weekends to make sure that you have all you need to improve your health!

She was also amazing and incredibly knowledgeable. I've been with the practice 5 years. I didn't mind seeing Gabby. It's hard to get an appointment with Dr. Desai. I have 1 prescription which has been an issue for other providers in the office to fill. Instead of filling it, they provide referrals to 3rd party providers for additional testing. Dr. Desai (the original prescriber) never has a problem filling it, but the PAs and NPs with the practice do, so that has been a challenge. Office staff are not as compassionate as Dr. Desai. They can be curt. I have recommended NVFM to dozens of Stone Ridge/South Riding friends and neighbors for their primary care needs.

Mishra and Mishra is a Neurologist office which moved to Elm Street in McLean. My doctor was Navid Mostofi. I went to their office to determine why my right hand was numb as I thought it was carpal tunnel. It turns out that I probably have MS. You would think that at a neurologist office they would keep everything stress-free but Wendy is a ball of angriness that needs to be reigned in. My first negative encounter with her was when I had muscle/nerve spasms due to steroid withdrawal that they had me on. I called the advice nurse who scheduled me in the same day. I guess the advice nurse failed to call my doctor to tell him I was coming because when I walked in the office, Wendy started yelling at me that I did not have an appointment today and why I was in the office. When I told her the lady fit me in due to my severe back pain at 3:15, she said that the lady wasn't allowed to do that. I dismissed her attitude towards me because I was in too much pain. she then tried ti diagnose my problem as she was taking my vitals (mind you she is a medical asst./receptionist) and said I probably had a urinary tract infection!!!! WTF!!! I did get to see my doctor who correctly diagnosed me as having back spasms. My most recent experience is still ongoing as I had an appointment scheduled for this past Tuesday at 10 am. Wendy called me at Monday night at 7:30pm to cancel my appointment for the next day by leaving me a message. I did not get the message as I was knocking on the door Tuesday morning with no one at the office. I called the answering service who confirmed there was an appointment and they didnt even know why the office was closed. They called the sister office and the doctor directly and received no answer. I left a message with the answering service that I would be there today at 10 am. I called the doctor office today as I was driving to my new appointment and spoke to WENDYYYYYYYYYY. When I told her my name and that my appoinemnt was cancelled without proper notification she told me that she called me and that my doctor,Mostofi, no longer worked there . . . on the day I am to find out if I have MS, he quits and no one bothers to tell me?????? It has been a month of tests, taps, outpatient procedures and the day I am to find out what is wrong me she gives me attitude because she decided to call me at 7:30 the night before I am to arrive.? Of course I am pissed and per her was yelling at her. She then lied and said that that original message she left me told me that Mostofi no longer worked there which was not true. When I told her that this is the 2nd time that I had to deal with her attitude and reminded her of the time she trued to diagnose me, she hung up on me. So I called back to let her know that someone was going to see me today and that I would be there at 10 am . . . her response was that she was going to have me escorted from the building then she said she was going to call the police then when I told her that I would sure her if she laid a hand on me she hung up. So I called back. . . .by this time I think Dr. Mishra heard her yelling at me on the phone so he agreed to see me today. When she answered the first thing she said was Dr. Mishra will give you your results. I said thank you and hung up. Ten minutes later Dr. Mishra called me from his personal cell phone and explained that he could help me and would be able to give me my results. He asked how Wendy was rude and specifically asked was it her tone as if she has been reprimanded about her tone before and I explained the entire conversation to him. I will see him tomorrow and get my results but cannot trust an office that would hire someone so unprofessional as WENDY!!!!!! She is a liability to his office and practice.

No complaints---EVER---and he's been needed often. I must definitely add that his wonderful nurse, Wendy, has also been nothing but kind, warm-hearted, and shows great care. Her cheerfulness makes office visits relaxing and reassuring. She is knowledgeable in her field and wants nothing but the best for you.What a great person she is!! He took his time and I never felt rushed. Knows his stuff, asked all the right questions, returned my call promptly when I had a follow up question. I have seen several doctors for my issue, Dr. Lewis was definitely the sharpest. No nonsense, focused and to the point. A little more eye contact during the interview process would have been nice, but in this day and age of having to constantly enter data into a computer, that is understandable.

Doctors who specialize in distinct areas such as Vergne's are many, but those who can boast the knowledge, understanding, instinct and talent along with an incredibly reassuring bedside manner are few. For a decade, I have been extremely pleased with him and highly recommending his staff, services and him personally as both a human being and a cardio professional. I have and continue to place my life in his hands!
