On the early mornings and evenings, we would get in a little cardio by walking around the quiet, clean well-kept neighborhood or just to sit out on the patio and relax in a cool serene environment. All I can say is this is just a rare find, unique location top tier service and great host. This little paradise you have created is understated. We had a great time visiting here and were so grateful for the innkeeper, Kim, who was gracious, funny, and very attentive to our needs - really a lovely person. There was also a nice lady who maintained the rooms. Everything was nice: big fluffy white towels; excellent Continental breakfast; tea and cookies for an after dinner snack. The B&B is on the edge of the Cornell College campus and about a 5+ min walk from downtown Mr. Vernon (with a charming main street). For anyone visiting Mt Vernon I would highly recommend you contact Brackett House for a stay. I would love to return and enjoy this relaxing house again!

At 3pm, still no room.......we had four rooms, but the party had pretty much the entire hotel. At 4pm, still no room....but someone walked in the door at 4:05 and they received a room. At 4:15 again, I went to the front desk. Up to this point "Dave" was helping us. He was busy and an older taller lady with long dark & gray hair "helped" us. This is where it got ugly. The lady was the rudest hotel person I have ever met. I asked for answers to why and when. All she did was give me a nasty smirk and I actually told her to remove that smirk. I asked for the Manager, she said the Manager could not do anything about it. I asked again, within 15 minutes we had the Manager. We explain the guarantee we received when booking the Wedding and that we had a pre-wedding party to get to an an hour. She said they were having staffing issues and our four rooms have not been released yet. I informed her, I went to our rooms and the doors were open. The rooms were clean. She explained they have been inspected as complete yet. I explained to her that people have walked in and received rooms. I explained to her she needs to swap out rooms for people standing in the lobby vs. people who have not arrived. 15 minutes later we had three rooms. While standing with the manager as she clicked on her computer, I heard another guest ask the tall long haired lady, "What is going on?, Why aren't rooms ready" The same rude lady behind the counter which smirked at me...........Told the other guest, "It's none of your business." Wow. I thought her husband was going to jump over the counter at Ms. Tall & Rude. The next day I caught a room cleaner in the hallway and said they did not have to do a complete clean on our room. Just give us towels and coffee. We received NOTHING. Hotel Millwright way over promised and way under delivered. I'm shocked at the lady behind the counter. Dave (behind the counter) was nice.. The Manager did not have her arms around the operation. She made people stand in the lobby for an hour and a half while rooms were available, just not reassigned. Regarding the reception.......the facility was nice. However, certain food items ran out before all guests were fed. The bar was understaffed and the lines were long. Hope this review finds many people and saves you from the Millwright.

This roadside motel is a lovey throwback to old Americana roadside motels that was a little slice of heaven. Foor $60, we reserved a king size room, which had a microwave, a mini fridge, great wifi and cable TV (important as I don't typically sleep well and use the TV to fall asleep). They also had a continental breakfast room with OJ, coffee, fruit, yogurt and honey buns. As a person with insomnia, I have to tell you, I had the best night's sleep that I'd had in ages! The mattress was comfortable, and the bedding was so soft and smelled fantastic (I'm aware that sounds weird, but I have sensory issues...so much so that I spoke to the owner in the morning when we checked out about where she purchased the bedding and the type of laundry detergent they use.) When we checked in, they recommended a local restaurant for dinner, the Sundown Bar & Grill, and I am so glad we went to dinner there! I cannot recommend this motel more! From their friendly staff, and comfortable rooms, to their fun decor and beautiful grounds (picnic tables & Adirondack chairs), I will definitely stay here again when we travel through this area. These are the sorts of accoutrement one would expect at a $225/night urban hotel but not in a small, inexpensive establishment, where a single occupancy room w/queen-size bed cost a mere $65 a night! This place is a hidden gem that's well worth seeking-out; it's a bit off the beaten-path of the interstates but if you need a place to stay in Clinton County -- this is surely a good option.
