The owner Mario is a great, fair and extra-considerate business owner. He talked me through a couple issues I could take care of myself with my dryer. Then he was able to nail down the main issue, over the phone, and quickly gave me a part price and fair labor price without even coming out or charging me for a visit yet. I spoke to several appliance repair business and none of them, until Mountain Appliance, asked questions and help me assess the repair issue and discover a separate issue dramatically slowing done my dry time. I've used Mario over 4 times over the years. He's always called me right back if I missed him and always come on time to his scheduled appointment, calling to confirm before. A lot of these reviews are older, so perhaps he's taken them to heart because we have never had a bad experience with him. He's fixed my washer and dryer multiple times, all within the same day and at a reasonable price, making it worth it to keep hiring him. He smiled, was friendly and quick to do the work. The last time his son came and fixed my oven. He was also kind and pleasant. I think the reviews about masks are irrelevant. When something in your home breaks, you just want it fixed and he does that. read more

Don't support this business. Mario canceled an appointment to fix our dishwasher because I asked him to wear a mask. My wife is extremely immunocompromised as she is going through cancer treatment, so we can't take chances with Covid or even the common cold. I even offered to give him a mask but he said "no, I won't wear a mask, so we will cancel the appointment." I understand different perspectives about wearing masks in general but when you're a business coming into someone's home, you should respect the homeowner's wishes, especially when you're putting a vulnerable person at risk. Well, you should do that if you want to stay in business, which hopefully Mario isn't for much longer. read more

I called Mountain Appliance for an appt to check out my refrigerator. Mario arrived for the appt but upon arrival quickly said he forgot his tools at the last job! I looked at him very puzzled! Mario had a truck but no extra set of tools hummmm however, Mario did say he could take a quick look at the fridge! Mario checked the fridge out and said it could be the compressor! Mario didnt charge me but I had to make another appt for him to come back! Gave the guy another chance! So! I made another appt and he came a week later checked out the fridge and said it could be the starter! I asked how much and was given a price of $600-$800 but that he had to order the part and it would take about a week! I mentioned to him that this could be an insurance issue due to a power surge upon receipt of the $110 trip charge and if so could my issue with the fridge be from the power surge and Mario said said yes it could be! So! Mario told me the service charge trip charge for the day was $110 and he proceeded to use his phone for my credit card and I said could you write that down on the invoice trip charge that its a possibility that it could be from the power surge for my insurance and he said no that I will have it on my email I said I need it for my insurance for the service charge trip charge on the invoice he said no I asked again he than took back the service charge trip charge invoice and than gave back my $110 in cash than rolled the invoice into a ball put it somewhere and than just left! This was the most frustrating appt EVER in my life! This guy was quick to get annoyed, does not understand, won't listen, won't communicate and seems like he is going to pop! I found he had no social skills whatsoever! My family members and friends that were present listening to this were saying what's up with this guy he has a massive attitude problem is uncooperative and he cannot communicate! Two appts down and still the fridge is not working! Two trips to come up to Lake Arrowhead and my fridge is still down! My friends called Fridgidaire's 1800 number while Mario was there spoke to customer service was sent a diagram and found my refrigerator has no starter in it at all! read more

My experience with Mario was not like the 1-stars that precede this review. Mario has been out a couple times to diagnose an issue with our stacked washer/dryer unit. He was responsive and pleasant whenever I talked with him, and he accommodated our calendar as we're also not up there all the time. He patiently tracked down a wiring issue within our washer and it's now working again. Saved us thousands because we didn't have to buy a new unit. I would use Mario again. read more

i read the reviews on Mario before i called him. some not too flattering but i needed a repair guy Now! He called me 20 minutes prior to arrival. he brought a helper. within a half an hour he had my washer running like new again. i feel bad for the folks that didn't like him but i thought he was courteous and friendly and thorough so yes i would recommend him read more

If I could give it a minus 1, I would. Mario is not the nice guy that a couple of others have said he is. He was extremely rude, called me a name, and practically threatened me. My fridge ice maker stopped making ice so I called a couple of appliance repair numbers. Mario called me back, took my address, and said he would stop by on Friday. No mention of any charge for "stopping by". He came on Friday, looked at the ice maker, hit the "Test" switch, and the thing started making ice again. 10 minutes at most, including his rambling "conversation". He then said, "I'll just charge you for the service call". I said, "What? You didn't say there would be a charge for coming out", and he LIED, and said that he told me, which he didn't. I said "How much is it?" and he told me $85... That is literally the first time I heard $85 spoken by him. I didn't say I wasn't going to pay it, only that he should have said something to me on the phone and, at $85, I would not have had him come out, as I can buy (and did) a portable ice maker that makes 26 pounds of ice per day, for $100. At that point he got all pissed off and started insulting me, stormed out the front door, slamming it shut, and telling me "Go F*** yourself" as he walked away. This guy is not only rude and insulting, if I were you, I would be very careful about inviting him into my home. read more

I'm not sure about their repair competence. We needed an electric oven to be repaired. He came out and gave us an estimate for over $420 to replace the control panel which seemed high, (how often do I replace my oven control panel?) We decided to get a second opinion, which was a grave insult I suppose. To me a business should be confident about their price and work and not get all worked up about second opinions. But he did become upset, said he would waive the diagnostic fee but that we shouldn't bother to call him back as he won't ever return to darken our door again, thankyouverymuch. I like to support mountain businesses but resent the arrogance that they often exhibit: yes, the costs are higher up here but we also can't always trust every mountain business and they should not be so touchy. read more

Mario is courteous, knowledgeable and cares. He's busy, but somehow finds a way to pick up the phone. First of all, he was the only repairman to pick up my initial phone call and then promptly show up early the next morning when he said he would. This is a rare quality in the lazy Lake Arrowhead ethic. He diagnosed my fridge immediately and had the fix on his truck. No need to buy a new one. responds quickly - efficient - gets work done - makes sure it is done right - does not waste time - reasonably priced. That is what I wanted. My highest recommendation. I will also let my rental group know about Mario. The recommended someone else who didn't call back for 24 hrs. No bueno when you have a tenant sitting there. read more

Made an appointment with Mario. I took off a half day of work to wait for him. Appointment time was between noon and three. Got home before noon. Mario called after noon to say that since he wasn't able to contact me at 11:30 that he cancelled my appointment. Do not ever use him if you don't want your time wasted. Horrible. read more

i should have read the other reviews first but didn't. Mario is rude, unprofessional and useless. Failed to fix the refrigerator ice maker or the water dispenser flow and charged us $125.00. When we called him back to see if he could come back out the following day and at least bypass the water filter, he became defensive and rude for no reason and hung up on us. We ended up bypassing the water filter ourselves to fix the water flow problem so UNLESS YOU WANT TO TO INSULTED AND WASTE YOUR MONEY, DO NOT CALL MARIO (owner of mountain appliance). read more

It was several days out but I took the appointment because he said he could make it and so we let the vacation renters know that their oven would be looked at by a specialist mid day. I called Mario in the morning to confirm that the guests could let him in and to let him know where the house was located as well to confirm we could pay later with a CC over the phone. It was raining hard that morning, and that's the only reason I can come up with to explain his sudden irritation at my confirmation and subsequent HANGING up on me mid conversation regarding the appointment he already promised to make. At least he had the conscience to call back and leave a message to say he was "canceling the appointment" with a half hearted name or two of other appliance repairmen who weren't open on Saturday to help, at which point he hung up on me the second time before I had a chance to say anything back. Do yourself a favor and never call this man to help. read more

Sorry for the duplicate review, but this appears to be the same business as in Running Springs (http://www.yelp.com/biz/mountain-appliance-repair-running-springs). Our dryer's heating element broke on 9/23, and the repairman quoted us $142.90 for parts and labor, which we gladly paid, since he told us there was a warranty covering both parts and labor. Ever since then, the dryer has been leaking hot air and filling the room with humidity. This was not happening before. We called the repairman today (10/5), and he told us that he didn't believe the machine was functioning any differently than before, and refused to honor the warranty. When we pressed him, he told us "I have the right to refuse service." TL;DR: Do not hire this company. They are refusing to honor to the warranty under the guise of "refusing service." read more

Just got off the phone with Mario. I just gave my plumber who is fantastic an earful. I have a leak that happens only once in a while with my washer. I asked if he could come over, he said he wouldn't be able to come over until Saturday. Which is fine, but then said the washer would have to be leaking all the time before he could come out. "I don't have a crystal ball that will tell me what the problem is" That was the next thing that came out of his mouth. Are you kidding? This is what customer service is like on the hill! This guy just left my house cussing me out. He came to "check-out" my washer machine. My washer machine happens to be in my basement, which is also where i have my rat breeding facility. He took one look at my washer and said I'm not doing it I dont have the room. I said we can take it right outside the door. He told me i couldn't afford it. Basically called me broke. Which I have more money in my sons piggy bank then that guy has in his life savings. He then continued to say I wont do it because of the rats and the space, called it disgusting said find someone else. I asked him why he disrespected my home & he told me to "F-off". He brought some early in his 20's kid with him who never looked my direction, stared at the floor while his friend or father continued cussing me out. I have NEVER dealt with such a disrespectful company in my life. I'd NEVER recommend them to ANYONE unless u want to have someone talk crap to you, your income, & your home. This is what I imagine appliance repair looks like in Italy. Mario was at my house approximately three weeks ago. I paid him 60 dollars at that time to diagnose a "faulty defrost controller" in my Whirpool side by side. Approximately two weeks later, he replaced that part and the fridge still did not work. (Keep in mind the whole time i am without a fridge). Thankfully this is winter and I can store my perishables on my deck in a cooler). So for the part that did not work, hit asked for another 160. Today, he comes and says I have a bad "starter". He is feeling charitable and says he is going to only charge me 124 dollars. When I started questioning him about whether it was problem one or two, his feelings got hurt and he said...fine I won't do it. And stormed out. This guy has no sense of customer service. He talks to you like you are an idiot. The funny part is he left a part behind and came back 20 minutes later to ask he could have it. Of course, I said "NO". The weird thing is, he showed with a pre-printed invoice before he even diagnosed the part. It's amazing this guy stays in business. He is dishonest and altogether smarmy. Don't use him. read more

He found the problem and needed to check on the part and told me he would call later in the day. He called and the bad news was the cost of the component. He could fix it, but due to the cost he suggested that I consider purchasing a new dishwasher, which I have ordered. Mario is courteous, knows what he is doing and is straight up honest. Of course there was a service charge which he and I never discussed, but there is always a service charge for repair men to come out.
