I called to inquire about have my dryer fixed as it needed belt. I asked for a quote. I explained to the employee who answered the phone that I am moving out of state and did not want to spend a lot of money on a repair. He said a $65.00 service fee to have a technician check it out. Which would be put toward the repair. It sounded reasonable. The technician was prompt and courteous. He looked at the unit and stated that I needed a belt. The cost to fix it was nearly $300.00. Called for simple dryer repair. Grossly overcharged. I posted Armando's invoice and the retail part price via Amazon. BUYER BEWARE!! Armando didn't work for more than 5 minutes, charged, well... you can see for yourself. I posted pics of his charge with the part number and the retail cost of that part from Amazon. We were told it'd be $45 service charge to assess. They said $20 more cuz of mountain location- which would be credited if we agreed to the work. That didn't happen. Problem with Refrigerator. Freezer works but the fridge side does not. First update 07/30/31 As promised, the technician called before arriving. Due to COVID times, he was wearing a mask (protecting both himself and my family). PLUS!!! He was very courteous and actually listened to us. We explained the situation with out refrigerator and the mentioned it would be either a compressor (very expensive) or the coils being frozen (not that expensive). He asked us to connect the fridge and leave it running for a couple of days (he will return Saturday from 12-3). If the refrigerator goes turns off again anytime before that to contact him immediately (he gave me his cell number). My LG dryer, three years old, was not heating up. Everything else mechanically worked except the heating element. Family Appliance Repair, tech came out. The tech took the machine apart and told me the dryer was no good, due to control system failure. He also said there had been a small fire within the machine, he showed me some lint that he said was burnt, and it was navy blue lint from a dog bed,no signs of burnt lint! I asked him if there was any way it could be repaired, he shifted his story and said yes, maybe one time, only. He said, my dryer was to computerized for him, and he couldn't get Korean parts? He charged me for a service call, which was ridiculous. I called a reliable, LG authorized repair service today. He came out today and repaired the dryer in a few minutes. All it needed was a 30.00 igniter. And to think if I would have listened to Family Appliance Repair diagnosis, telling me to go buy a new dryer.. I advise not to use this company. My washing machine kept overflowing. I tried figuring it myself but couldn't so I looked them up online somewhere. Some really young kid showed up, nothing against young people as I look young myself, but he was not helpful and was a bit arrogant. I had stuff to do so I was upstairs while he fixed it. I know it was something quite simple as a pressure sensor or something as the water level wouldn't match the set level (small, medium, full, etc). I asked him what he did and what he fixed. He told me he couldn't tell me, it would be divulging trade secrets. It took less than 30 minutes and he charged me $160!!! I contacted Family Appliance with a very detailed description of the problem we were having with our 7 year-old Kenmore dishwasher (made by Whirlpool) failing to drain as well as the symptoms and sounds leading up to the failure. Alex quoted $253.52 for a new pump with labor and returned the following day. Even with extra time spent after replacing the pump, reinstalling the sound shielding blanket and routing the drain hose to improve drainage, I paid (drum-roll please) $253.52. The dishwasher drains and the pump goes dry well within the 2-minute time limit and the dishwasher runs quieter overall. read more
