The father and son team were easy going and nice to work with. Our budget was tight, as we were investing heavily in wedding photography, so we were happy to find them pretty late in the planning process, and appreciated their flexibility. We requested a documentary style video of the wedding with minimal editing, to keep the costs down. Their audio services during the wedding with wireless mics, amplified music and sound mixing were perfect and exactly what we needed. We chose Greg to DJ our wedding in Auburn, CA. It was easy to work with him and he is very enthusiastic. There was a mix-up with e-mails at one point regarding where we would meet for a meeting. It wasn't a big deal, but he had confirmed the time and meeting place over e-mail, but forgot he had done so. We both ended up in two different places, my fiance and I in the place we had agreed upon in e-mail and Greg at another location. Thankfully we could still meet with him that day, but we had to drive to him. The day before the wedding, I called Greg to see if we could book the video, so he and his son are definitely very flexible. Though, somehow he already had it in his notes that we wanted a video, which we had never confirmed. He also asked questions about the ceremony and reception, though we had already had the conversation at a previous meeting and in e-mails. There were just enough small hiccups that made me wonder if he was fully prepared. In the end, Greg did a great job with the ceremony and reception. Other than at the very start of the ceremony, the mics worked very well and everyone could hear what was being said. As the bridal party was lining up to be announced into the reception, there was some confusion for Greg regarding the line-up, even though we outlined who would be walking together. I am not sure why this happened, but my husband was able to help sort things out. The reception ran very smoothly and he played the songs we wanted for the most part. I specifically told him not to play slow songs, but he started the dancing with two slow songs. This was quickly fixed once I told him to not play anymore. We also asked him to play music in the order of generations (50s, 60s, 70s, etc.). This didn't really happen, but he played songs we liked, so it was fine in the end. I just worried the older folks didn't feel a part of the dancing as much, though many still joined in. We ordered the video option. It is awesome to know we have a video of our day and we can always watch it again and again. It turned out a little differently than we anticipated in terms of length (it's over an hour), so we may shorten it ourselves in some way if possible. The use of the drone was a great addition. I would say if you want someone to document your day, this is a great option and is very affordable compared to most videographers. But it isn't going to be creatively cut and there are times when the video is a little shaky. Overall, Greg and his son did a pretty good job. There was some hiccups along the way, but really nothing major. Both Greg and his son were pleasant and friendly. Greg is also very reasonably priced. read more

My husband and I got married in Nevada City a little over two years ago. Greg was the DJ at our wedding and did an amazing job! I was really concerned about ending up with a cheesy DJ who played all the standard boring wedding songs. Greg was the exact opposite and was perfect!!! We hired Greg to be our DJ and his son as our videographer- and we are so happy we did! Greg was great since the beginning. Being that we live in the Bay Area got married in Lake Tahoe @ Lakeview Lodge - Heavenly we did a lot of corresponding via email. We did Skype right in the beginning to say hi and then met once a few months prior and were able to get down to the nitty gritty and get to know Greg a bit better. He responds quickly and has great ideas and recommendations and really makes the wedding about the bride and groom and what WE wanted. I am a wedding planner in Nevada county and I have worked with Greg and mountain event production djs multiple times now. He is my go to DJ. Not only is he professional and offers amazing packages, he does what YOU want. Each wedding is personalized. He also goes above and beyond to keep things running smooth. We've had our fair share of "wedding mishaps" and he helps me do my job to keep it running smooth and so that nobody knows there were any issues. I also hired greg to dj our wedding in February. Being a planner, I did EVERYTHING myself and wouldn't have it any other way. Wedding rehearsal came and was chaotic...as it can be chaotic and usually I am the one to organize and run it. Pros: Greg is on point with being the MC. His technology including sound system, lights, and microphones worked well for our ceremony and reception. He was very creative and he made good changes on the spot since we were going over on time. He kept the flow going during the reception and he successfully hyped up the crowd to dance. I picked genres for music and his music song choices were on point. If you need a MC he's the guy! Cons: We did the full package including love story, MC, and video. We drove to Nevada City to record our love story months before our wedding but he didn't work on the love story until right before our wedding. We gave him photos months in advance and told us the night before he couldn't find them. I was stressed enough. Luckily a few hours later he called and found them but he was staying up late to work on it. There was a miscommunication with his videographers and they missed me and my husband entirely getting ready for the wedding. Greg even argued with his contractor right in front of my wedding party. It was embarrassing and I was devastated I will never have any video of me getting ready. Luckily I gave him photos of me getting ready for our video. I heard about Greg through another vendor of our wedding, and I am so glad for that recommendation. Greg was not only helpful with the music selection for the ceremony (I had no idea what to play) but he was accommodating with all my requests. For example I wanted to be sure everyone could hear the ceremony, he provided mikes for my officiant, a lapel mike for my husband that picked up both him and myself and a mike for the guitar player that played during. Greg also recommended the officiant of my wedding (she was perfect). We hired Greg for our wedding in Nevada City. Having little experience working with DJs or planning events, it was great to have him as a resource. You don't realize all the little details that go into a perfect day, but he knew exactly what to do and when to do it. Despite our lazy approach to planning he was able to coax us along and helped us make important decisions we would have otherwise been clueless about. Prior to the wedding we met with him at his home studio to go over song selection and get a better understanding of how the day would progress. He took a role that encompassed more than just a DJ - he was the overall MC of the wedding, ushering guests where the needed to be at the right time. He attached microphones to us, which allowed all the guests to hear the vows perfectly. When the time came to hit the dance floor, he put his plan in place and sure enough everyone scuttled over to boogie down. We gave him a large selection of songs and he used his judgement to choose the best ones from our list, keeping everyone young and old grooving into the evening. It's also worth mentioning that his son recorded the entire event and produced a wedding movie for just a few bucks extra. If you're like me, you don't hire a DJ very often. When you do hire one, the last thing you want is something out of The Wedding Singer. He has a great energy without being overbearing, and knows what he's doing for sure. We hired Greg for my daughters wedding. I've been to a LOT of events where there was a hired DJ, and this was by far the worst experience I've ever witnessed. I've owned several companies in my life. And if I were to ever bumble a job this badly, I would certaily have offered my customers their money back. It would have been the professional thing to do. However, during her wedding he was so "out of it" (and I'm struggling to be nice here...) that he actually thought everything was going just fine. There were over 100 guests and at least 20 of them asked if our DJ was in drugs. This was embarrassing for me as the one paying for the wedding, and embarrassing for the bride and groom. Everyone attending the wedding were down to earth people, and we all did our best to laugh it off. But honestly, it wasn't funny. I had a surprise flash mob arranged for the bride and groom immediately following my speech. The DJ had one job at that moment. When the lights go out, press play on the music I provided... I stood there, in the dark, waiting. Over the microphone I finally said "DJ...?". Nothing.. So I said it again. I finally got a reply from him over his mic asking that the lights come back on. Then he explained that he was going to need me to move to a different location on the floor... what does he care?!?! Play the musI just looked at him and said "play... the... music...!" He ruined the surprise. This was just one of many, many instances thruought the night. I have had to step back and think about what happened on the day of my wedding and the meetings with Mountain Event Productions leading up to that day. At first things seemed like a dream come true-Greg was very friendly and seemingly professional about how he would handle our wedding ceremony and reception. At that meeting, we sent him three playlists we had come up with that included songs for our ceremony, including the prelude, the cocktail hour, and the dancing hours. He looked them over in our presence and said he would be sure to take care of everything, and if there was a song he did not have he would let us know and we could send him our personal MP3 copy. He also agreed (for an additional fee, of course) to coordinate our rehearsal two days prior to the wedding, so everything would run smoothly and the wedding party would be familiar with their cues. AWESOME, right? Well, from there, things went terribly wrong. The Monday before my wedding Greg called me to ask that I re-send the specifics for the ceremony and reception, and also to remind me of the rehearsal on Thursday. Fantastic! I sent off his requested emails and heard NOTHING back, so I assumed all was well and it was going to be smooth sailing. NOPE. Everyone in my wedding party was at the venue on time Thursday afternoon for the rehearsal. Turns out that Greg completely forgot about our rehearsal and showed up an hour late (after we had to track him down) with no apologies, yelled at my mom, was rude to my wedding party, and rushed off after a 30 minute "consultation". The day of the wedding he COMPLETELY RUINED my ceremony by having faulty equipment-the mic kept cutting our and no one could hear our officiant or readers-the mic feedback hurt everyone's ears and no one heard what was said. His "assistant" came out in a grubby shirt waving his arms at our officiant and it was an absolute embarrassment. If it wasn't for our videographers putting a mic on my husband, we wouldn't have ANY record of our ceremony at all. When we finally went to join our guests for cocktails I found he didn't play a single song on the playlist I sent him, but played five songs on a loop, and when dinner was going on his "assistant" sat in a guest's chair and took his dinner seat-how on earth is this acceptable??? After dinner, Greg proceeded to argue with me about what the order of the evening was to be-first claiming that "well you said you wanted to take this and/or that part out", (newsflash-I never said such thing) and then when my husband and I showed him the emails we sent (thank goodness for smartphones) he backpedaled and claimed he never got our emails with the song requests. I had several reports that he made lewd comments and was even drinking alcohol while on the clock. Absolutely unprofessional. All in all I would not recommend this business. I received NO apology for the complete failure of equipment during my ceremony, and it's incredibly unprofessional to LIE and tell your bride that she is wrong and then ignore her when you are called out on a LIE. I have noticed that Greg has commented on this review, so I am reaching out to anyone who would like to see an actual "demo" of his "great work" a free look at my raw, unedited wedding video and the sound quality he provided. Please send me a PM and I will happily show you how horrible my ceremony was. I could have done better with my own smartphone and borrowed speakers, and none of my guests would have been insulted. Greg did a wonderful job DJing my wedding this past weekend. He was excellent at playing music appropriate to his audience, and he had everyone out on the dance floor all night. He also really helped to coordinate events throughout the evening. My one complaint is that he was slightly hard to keep in contact with before the event. I was quite busy in the days leading up to my wedding, and I just kind of had to hope that he had received my music list and was going to play the requested music. Greg was easy to talk to on the phone. Email with him was a little tricky from the beginning. But all in all, he seemed like a pro and was familiar with the venue, so we booked him. I was pretty disappointed with the day of service he provided on our wedding day. But he seemed like a nice person so I wasn't going to leave a poor review online. But after emailing him a few times the following months asking if he can send us the audio of our recorded vows that he promised. I only received one email in return- "not likely,but thanks for asking" I would have been satisfied with sorry I didn't record it. Sorry I deleted it. Something explaining why you cant send us the audio file. So here is a few things I was unhappy with on the day of our wedding. #1 One of the biggest moments of the night, our first dance as husband and wife. He starts to play the wrong song, in the middle of the song, playing at a very high volume! I had to leave my wife on the dance floor to come check and make sure everything was ok and if you knew what song we wanted. He apologized and put on the correct song, but that was a pretty bad mistake. I was a DJ for 5 years in the bay area and have never seen that before. #2 You said you would be there the day before for rehearsal to grab the check and go over any last changes. But you got stuck in traffic, it happens I understand. The problem is you didn't get the final payment check. The day of the wedding its the last thing on our mind, and he did not remind us, so the envelope never left my suit. So we figured we would send it to him when we got back from our Tahoe honeymoon. Problem is he kept texting me on my honeymoon about final payment. I told him via texts that I would send it as soon as we got back home. We were just staying in Tahoe for 4nights. I did not like being bothered during my honeymoon. #3 Most of the people at cocktail hour sitting away from the stairs could not hear the music because there were no speakers down there. Only speakers were at the top of the stairs. It doesn't seem that hard to run one more speaker wire behind the bar and have a speaker on the bottom patio. I had one friend ask where the music was, so I went up and asked him to turn it up, please. #4 He didn't play our Cocktail hour playlist in the order that we gave him. We wanted it to be slow (Sinatra etc) then end up at fun country before dinner. Instead, the songs played in random order. My wife and I missed one of our favorite songs because we were taking pics after the ceremony. The song was supposed to play near the end of the cocktail hour when we were both down there mingling with friends. #5 He didn't play all our Dance songs that we sent him, most of the songs at the end of the night were not what we picked out. (save a horse ride a cowboy was not on our list) #6 You didn't record our vows and speeches like you told us you were going to. read more

If I could give this negative stars I would! I recently attended my good friends wedding where she had hired Greg as her dj. What started as him seeming just like an odd M.C quickly turned into a nightmare! As soon as the reception started he began to play this absurd and obscure 60's music (mind you the bride and groom are in their early 20's) this continued for about 15 minutes until one of the brides maids went up to him and asked why he wasn't playing music from the extensive list they had given him earlier that week. Greg responded in a fit of anger saying he never received any list and was playing good music! He then went and confronted the bride in front of her guests loudly saying he never received any list and this wasn't his fault and if anyone wanted to request songs they could. In an attempt to rescue this reception that was quickly going down hill (guests were leaving, no one was dancing, the tension was thick) I went up and started requesting songs and listing artists. As I began spouting off songs I notice Greg just nodding his head but he's not looking for any of the artists on his computer or writing them down... instead he's just scrolling through his iTunes and picking out the next six god awful out of date songs to play!! He seemed under the influence of something...he then announced to me that he did in fact receive the play list and had lost it!!! If you want to enjoy your wedding DO NOT HIRE GREG! My husband and I got married this past October at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo. We initially were not going to have a DJ, however my mom (who is a wedding planner) highly reccomended it. My husband and I had Greg as the D J last weekend for our wedding in Grass Valley. We had a relatively diverse crowd as far as age and music tastes go and everyone danced and everyone was happy. We had a wonderful experience with Mountain Event Productions. Greg was very communicative and prompt with responding to our questions and working through all the details of our wedding day. Choosing to have Mountain Event film our wedding day was one of the best decisions we made. The day goes by so fast, that without a video, you would be surprised how much you missed or even forgot. HUGE shoutout to Greg and his videography team for so beautifully and fully capturing our wedding day!! Laura, one of his videographers, absolutely nailed it. She was there to catch all the key moments of the day and didn't miss a thing. We watched our video the other night and my wife is now telling everyone it is her favorite movie of all time. It was so great being able to relive all the little moments that just flew by the day of and to see it all from a different perspective. What we got was a full hour+ video, which is exactly what we wanted rather than paying for a quick 3 minute movie trailer some companies make from all the footage. As our wedding DJ, Greg was truly a pleasure to work with! From the start, he was extremely professional and made sure to set us at ease. His knowledge of our wedding venue (Miner's Foundry) was definite plus. This gave us peace of mind in knowing that he understood the set-up and tricky acoustics of the historic building. He was very thorough with assisting us in planning the flow and music for our wedding. At times when we were stuck on decisions, he offered great suggestions for songs. He made it clear that his main concern was that we enjoyed our special day. On the wedding night, Greg read the crowd perfectly and always had people on their feet. Greg was our amazing DJ for our wedding in Nevada city this past Saturday, 4-16-16. We could not be more appreciative for all that he did. We had an absolute blast. From planning and pre-planning meetings, to serving as a wedding coordinator with our other vendors on the day-of as well, it was simply- flawless. All of our guests were on the dance floor at some time or another thoughout the night and we did not have to worry about a thing. His awesome spirit and seamless flow made the night. Robin from Mountain Event Productions DJ'd our wedding recently and I'm very conflicted on how to rate him. On the one hand, his music selections for the dancing part of the evening were spot-on. Not once was the dance floor empty; it was always packed with friends and family dancing, laughing, and having a good time. He did a good job of keeping the event moving and on track as well. During the "interview" process, he promptly replied to questions and seemed to get us and our love for music. On the other hand, I felt that he was severely lacking in his attention to detail. A week before the event, we had to resend the completed agenda to him because he misplaced the original email. We met with him the Thursday before the wedding and reviewed every song and the flow of the whole wedding. Yet somehow, he didn't have two of the songs that we requested available on the day of the wedding. He didn't have the song that we requested to be played as we left the ceremony nor did he have the song requested for the mother/son dance. Luckily, the brother of the bride was able to find the song on YouTube and the DJ plugged his phone into the speaker system so we could have that song. Like I said, this was a hard rating to give. Had it not been for missing two important songs during the event, I would have given Mountain Event a 5. However, I felt that showing up unprepared for the event warranted docking them a couple stars. read more

I just read Angela A's review and felt the need to add a little something to my earlier review - Greg is a stand up guy, extremely professional, very kind and awesome at what he does. When someone writes such a terrible, hurtful review that is clearly full of untruths it can unfortunately really affect someone's business and reputation. Its not fair and I feel the need to make sure everyone knows that her review is the farthest from accurate about Greg/Mountain Event Productions. I really hope that anyone reading these reviews looking for a DJ to hire can see through the one negative and totally false review (there's always that one person, right!?) and know without a doubt that Greg is going to make your event the event of a lifetime. We just got married in June and couldn't be happier with Greg as our DJ. Everything Greg did the day of our wedding was over the top wonderful. Leading up to our wedding day he was prompt and responded quickly. You can just tell he genuinely loves doing this for a living and wants your day to go as smooth and perfect as it possibly can. Not only does he DJ he also was the day of coordinator. He worked with all the vendors to make sure we stayed on the time schedule and everything transitioned smoothly. His son helps him and he is such a sweetheart and did an amazing job on our wedding video. I mean AMAZING. I have to say that our most favorite thing about Greg is how much he had EVERYONE involved the entire time and really just made our reception a blast. I mean people are still talking about how much fun they had and that our DJ was awesome. It breaks my heart that Angela A. wrote those things about him because he couldn't be farther from what she described. Greg was simply the best. He came highly recommended by several venues in Nevada City/Grass Valley, CA and our wedding coordinator. We had the ultimate challenge: two venues including an outdoor ceremony. Greg put wireless mikes on our officiant and my husband and everyone was delighted to be able to hear the vows so well. Same thing with the toasts at the reception. We picked all the music for the ceremony and he made sure it went together well and the sound levels were appropriate. He played classics during the cocktail hour (think Rat Pack) and all our favorites from high school through today for dancing until the wee hours. Our venues were Empire Mine and Miner's Foundry and the music sounded great both places. So glad we went with the best. read more

Greg was the DJ and emcee at our wedding a couple weeks ago and did a great job! Several of the guests commented on how much they enjoyed the music and Greg did a really good job of making sure the day went smoothly. He also played an extra 15 minutes of music for us at the end of the night because our dancing started late as caterers were an hour behind schedule. I thought that was really cool of him! Greg was also supposed to facilitate our wedding rehearsal but had to cancel at the last minute because he had to cover for another one of his staff members. However, he was able to come a day earlier to do a mini-rehearsal and was nice enough not to charge us for it. If I ever need a DJ again I will definitely hire Greg! read more

Mark with Mountain Event Productions was absolutely "wonderful"! We got married on May 26, 2013 at Auburn Valley Golf and he made the day so stress-free while playing the perfect selection of songs. We had so many guests comment on how awesome he was...great energy, engaged the crowd, incredibly organized and a true professional! Weddings can be so stressful but his advice and thoroughness set our minds at ease. Our "big day" was simply perfect and Mark made all the difference! I have many great things to say about Greg and his services. Since the very beginning Greg gave us very useful advice and suggestions based on his past experiences with many previous events. My husband and I celebrated our wedding at the Harmony Ridge Lodge in Nevada City and Greg knew exactly how to make things flow from the ceremony to cocktail hour, dinner and finally to the dance floor. He also kept close communication with our photographer and caterer which also made things easier. Greg arrived very early at the venue to set up all his equipment and get ready for our big day. We also had a Spanish guitar band to play the music for our ceremony and Greg was so kind to offer equipment backup for them if needed. After the band left, around dinner time, Greg took over our celebration with a very nice and smooth transition. Also, during this time, Greg went table by table to indicate our guests when it was their turn to go to the buffet area to help themselves with some food. In this way, everything was more organized and guests were not standing in line for a long time. My husband and I really wanted to have a big dancing party and that's exactly what we got. The forms Greg gave us to put together our play list were very useful. Greg played all the songs from our playlist and I should say that the dance floor was full 98% of the time. What about the other 2%? Well, at this point Greg blew our minds by putting together a little surprise for my husband and I. I won't say exactly what it was because I don't want to ruin his plans to surprise other couples, but I must say that it was the sweetest and most romantic time at the dance floor. We will never forget that one Greg! In conclusion, we had a great experience with Greg. He was willing to give that extra mile to make things easy for us, and everything was just fantastic!
