There is no landscaping, or lawn care at all involved in their "service" to our neighborhood. I have watched our green areas sadly deteriorate in the last two years. They mow on riding mowers that are too big for areas and do not weed-wack around posts, benches, decorative rocks, or the areas too small to fit their mowers. They even move some of the large decorative rocks out of the way so their mowers will fit. The bushy, woodsy areas have gotten closer and closer to the roads with overgrown weeds that used to be weed-wacked. We used to have beautiful green spaces, parks and grass along our neighborhood roads but they are just about 95% covered in weeds now. They have ruined the looks of our neighborhood and we pay them thousands of dollars a year! Don't fall for the beautiful photos on their website; that's not at all what their "service" looks like. We are hoping our homeowners association will switch to a true landscape company that takes pride in their business. Unfortunately that is not River Top.

But what also became clear in talking with her is that she really "knows her stuff." Terri provided a ton of information to my partner and myself about sprucing up our small property, on topics such as what materials to use to replace the broken-up paving out front and where to find them; what arrangements to plant in the stone boxes on the porch rail; what small trees to consider to break up a too-exposed street view of the house; and more. She even volunteered solutions to problems we didn't know we had (such as getting rid of the -- what?!!! -- poison ivy growing up the side of the house right near the front door!) Another suggestion that impressed us was her suggestion to enhance the front facade of our arts and crafts cottage by changing the colors of the stain on the porch railing and floor. Unfortunately this company did not live up to the reviews posted on Yelp. They said they would…read morestart work in the Spring but wouldn't give me a start date and kept saying that the weather was too cold. They finally finished on 6-18-2024. They presented a plan for landscaping our property but what they promised and what they delivered couldn't have been more different. From the outset I told Shelly that I wanted shrubs that would bloom in 3 seasons. Now, 28 months later, none of them has ever bloomed and one of them died. They trimmed one of our rhododendron bushes and it also died. The project cost $11,176.80 and there was no hardscaping involved. Shelly started-off pleasant and helpful but as time went on she became testy. When I raised the issue she apologized, but nothing changed. They offer a 1-year guaranty on the shrubs and plants, but it often takes 2 seasons before shrubs bloom. By then it was too late to invoke the guaranty. I cannot recommend this company. Please note that the last review was dated in November of 2019. I guess that should have been a red flag. I also never asked for references. Those are mistakes I will not make again. One other thing of note: I visited their property and never saw any plants or shrubs. I suspect that they buy the plants from other nurseries, mark them up and install them. Beware!
