A quick getaway at one of SRC's properties next to the Fightingtown Creek - part of the Ocoee River, where you can fish for native trout, chill out in the hammock, or fellowship by the fire-pit. The wrap-around deck provided a nice scenic view while nestled deeply in the wooded forest of N. Georgia. We enjoyed the well cleaned/organized 2 bedroom loft-style accommodations, hot tub, strong wireless internet (some didn't comprehend what unplugging meant), washer/dryer, propane grill, fully functioning kitchen & appliances. All the cabins are uber dog friendly (sorry my feline friends) with providing free amenities - a large pet bed, food and water bowls, toys, treats & beach towels. There's no size, weight limits, breed restrictions, or pet deposits...where's the love for the Kats? The nearby Benton MacKaye Hiking Trail is easy to access during daylight & all pathways leading to the main road is gravel. We will be back to try another of the many cabins that the Sliding Rock Property Management offers. What an incredible getaway! My boyfriend booked a weekend getaway in the Highlands Cottage this past weekend. It was perfect! The cabin is dog-friendly, and they provide sheets to cover furniture, along with bowls and a little jar of doggy treats. If you want your dog up on the bed, as well as the couch and they she'd, be sure to bring an extra blanket or cover! (We just chose to keep Charlie off the bed and only let him on the covered couch.) I loved that they had coffee beans and a grinder available. The coffee was perfect each morning. As far as the cabin itself, we loved the gas fireplace, how many dishes and cooking utensils were available, the hot tub (even though we chose not to use it) and the firepit. The fenced in backyard was also great for the dog. I only wish I had known what kind of place we were staying in - we would have brought all groceries and never left the cabin all weekend; it was that cozy and wonderful. We did take advantage of the nearby hiking at Stanley Gap, had some beer and a dinner at River Street Tavern, and visited a farmers market for some local Apple Butter and Applesauce Bread. And on Night 2, around the firepit, my boyfriend became my fiance!! I will forever be thankful to the wonderful, easy stay that Sliding Rock Cabins gave us for this time. We told her our concern for driving uphill on gravel roads. She was so professional and patient with us during our time selecting. She went through their cabins and found ones that were easy driving for us flat land drivers from Florida. When we arrived at the cabin (No Place Like Doe) we fell in love right away. Very very enjoyable experience in the North Georgia Mountains. We were traveling with another couple and they were brining their 2 dogs along. So you know how hard it is to find a pet friendly cabin on New Year's Eve weekend? If you've ever searched you recognize my pain. They even has the cabin setup with a doggie, bed abd doggie rope. Sliding rocks was very accommodating and we loved the location. We received very detailed instructions a week before our stay. I do have the say the verbiage is a bit to the point. In our emails as well as in binders at the cabin. This isn't necessarily a bad approach just think some things could be a little more tactful. There's even strict rules that if you access the keybox a minute before 3pm they will know and you will be charged just a little harsh especially when the cabin is clean and ready. The cabin itself was just as the pictures showed. We enjoyed Dancing Pines which was 2bedrooms 2baths. Each could be considered a master. We especially loved the outdoor deck with Jacuzzi with firepit. We had a wonderful time and are making this a New Years tradition. Absolutely Amazing!!! I cannot say enough good things about our experience. We walked in to a very clean cabin with music playing and a nice note from the housekeeper. The entire experience from booking to checkout was just so easy and enjoyable. The cabin was perfect, the location was perfect, and the only down side was not booking a longer stay. This is a truly relaxing mountain getaway--for humans and for pups! We stayed at Cherokee Shoals and it was simply beautiful. Our cabin overlooked the river, had a wrap-around porch that connected to a fenced in yard (which our pup loved!) and a hot tub on the deck, which was complete with rocking chairs and lamps. I was surprised to discover that the cabin was so well decorated. The finishes were modern and very tasteful--not the typical lumberjack chic you would expect. Ours was also equipped with a game room upstairs with another tv, a pool table and board games as well as a selection of books and magazines. Aside from having cable and wifi, the cabin also offered a small selection of DVDs. I highly recommend making sure guests have absolutely everything they could want/need before arriving because, chances are, you will not want to leave. We ended up going into town one of the days because we wanted to hike and shop, but otherwise we could have spent all our time at the cabin. My one reservation about Sliding Rock is that I do find it odd that they charge a cleaning fee, but then expect guests to do chores before leaving. I totally understand doing the dishes and picking up after the dogs, but stripping the bed does seem a bit much. Other places we've stayed only ask that guests run the dishwasher (SR asks that you run and empty the dishwasher, take out trash, etc). It's especially annoying when you're focusing on gathering up all your belongings and get on the road to have to worry about meeting all of the cabin's cleanup requirements... A Perfect Getaway cabin - The cabin was perfectly placed atop an awesomely adventurous mountain we had fun driving/climbing every day. We put our truck's 4x4 to use (not necessary, but fun) and loved the sights up the mountain. The cabin was well lit, immaculately clean and warm for our arrival. We enjoyed every bit of this pet-friendly winter wonderland from the fireplace, breathtaking views, luxurious hot tub, to the simplicity of instructions for navigating town. There was definite thought put into supplying the cabin with EVERYTHING you may need, from extra blankets and dog towels to board games and measuring cups! We had an occasional visit from a neighboring unleashed dog but no trouble. The cabin is the perfect size for our small family (my husband, myself, and our 7yr old Weimaraner). Even another couple could've fit with no issues. The small town is filled with antique "malls" and mom & pop diners. We loved trying all the best Yelp! recommendations in the area. All the shops in town and neighboring Blue Ridge were all pet friendly and loved seeing our Weim. Don't miss Rock City (it's a bit of a drive from the cabin but we'll worth it). We've stayed at three different cabins at Sliding Rock Cabins and all of them have been a fantastic stay. We've never had an unpleasant experience and everything is exactly the way it's presented. We love taking a long weekend from busy life in Atlanta and drive up 90 minutes to Elijay to relax in the hot tub, or soak in some sun. We've stayed in Fauna Lodge (previously reviewed) and also Mountain Breeze, and most recently A Perfect Getaway. Mountain Breeze was roomy enough for 4 of us, plus our dog. It's a roommate-style layout which is nice for multiple couples. Each bedroom has it's own bathroom. There is a game room in the basement below, also with a full bathroom. You can't really tell from the pictures, but you can only get in the basement by going outside and around. In the winter it may be a little cold for that, but when we were there in mid-March it was fine. We spent a lot of time on the wrap-around porch checking out the views. There's a couple of cabins nearby, but none are within view from the cabin, only the driveway. It's a great cabin for you and a couple friends to hang out for a week. A Perfect Getaway was a romantic weekend for my wife's birthday and it did not disappoint! The cabin is awesome! It has a massive porch which is gated and was great for our dog. As with all the other cabins, it has everything you need. We only had to bring food and booze. The loft was nice, but the stairs are steep, so be careful if you have young kids. The views of the mountains and valleys are so nice! The only bummer is the hot tub cover obscures your view when it's open. Perhaps they can switch the side it opens up, so it doesn't block those views! The bed in the bedroom was a little soft for my liking, but I was too relaxed to not sleep. Overall, I LOVE staying with Sliding Rock Cabins. Terry and Jerri always answer any questions I have and I feel if anything did go wrong they would take care of it for me. Stayed at Heavenly View Lodge in mid November 2023 for 4 nights. I was asked to leave a review, which I did but mysteriously it was never posted. I guess SRC only post positive reviews??? Pros: amazing views and dog friendly. Cons: terrible dark interior lighting. Hot tub broke which we reported and never heard back from anyone. Walls are paper thin you can hear everything while staying with other guests. No place to eat on the deck as there is no table. Gas grill was terrible with no lighting. Cooking steaks in the dark was difficult to say the least. Every time you cook in the oven the fire alarm located 3 feet away went off. Some blinds didn't work. Nothing matches, everything is old and mis-matched. Shams and comforters are not washed after each stay (gross). Fire pit was a joke. Barely enough space and we were told we couldn't use it anyway due to dry conditions. I don't think the windows have been cleaned in 10 years. If the owner just invested some cash into the property it could have been a far better experience but clearly they are in it for the income only. Load up on paper towels, toilet paper, dish detergent and laundry detergent and soap and cleaning products. You get barely anything. Myself and 3 other guests would not return. read more

I have stayed in different cabins managed by Sliding Rock about four or five times now, and each time was an excellent experience. There is a cabin for any group size and any mix of people, from a romantic getaway for two, to a group of eight, and this is truly fun for all ages. We never found ourselves missing anything. Few things I would suggest: A policy for refunding stays when one of the essential appliances is not working. In our experience, one of the cabins (a couple of years ago) had a broken electrical heater indoors. It was a cold weekend, and we definitely needed heat, so ended up having to burn a wooden fireplace all night long - which is risky and not ideal, when everyone is asleep and no one watches it. We also had a hard time with the grill, but I honestly don't remember the exact issue - whether it was just dirty or actually malfunctioning. We reported the issues right away on the first night, but did not receive anything back - hence the 4-star rating, and not 5. Another (small) suggestion would be providing floor plans for the homes among the photos. Layout of rooms, attached/detached bathrooms, lofts and nooks, as well as sleeper sofas would be VERY helpful while planning a trip for a group that is not all "couples". In our case, a description of "4 bedrooms, sleeps 8" is not really sufficient description for a group of singles, as far as not knowing how many actual beds and sleepers sofas/futons were available (and how many air mattresses and sleeping bags to bring), and how many bathrooms would be accessible from common areas, if someone is sleeping in the living room or a loft. Overall, pretty positive experiences each time, with majority of them being 5-stars. We are looking forward to another weekend at Quality Time or Bluffstone again soon! read more

I do wish I could say we had a great experience like most have in the cabin, but that just not the case. I cannot speak of the cabin because we never made it to the cabin; due to road conditions are not drivable. The road condition are BAD. Yes, we probably could have made it up, but it would have torn the vehicle up in the process or at the least required a mechanic afterwards (alignment) beyond the normal oil change and routine service. I have drove in the mountains many times within Georgia, South Caroline and Tennessee and never had trouble getting up a road (pave & gravel). Although this road was steep, I did not think it was unreasonable steep and the gravel not an issue I have drove on that before and some much steeper. The issue is the LARGE potholes that was causing the bottom of the vehicle to drag and knock the front bumper. I did try going up this area of the mountain on both sides a couple of times until I almost got stuck and a pop came from the front of the vehicle. It also was hard to get into drive afterwards for a short period (assume gravel got caught in tire). CABIN OWNER - Jerry General Manager: Kathy When we called and spoke with them there was nothing they could do; they had no more cabins available. The owner had really no interest in helping other than telling us to just sit there and think about it and then go and try going up to cabin again. I thought that was stupid unless you were going to have the LARGE potholes in the road fix within a short period. They offer no type of refund partial or reschedule date to another cabin; anything except they were not responsible for the roads. I told her that they should have at least put in the brochure that you would need a 4X4 or larger car that sits high to access the cabin from the road. She said that they never had that type of complaint and this cabin been in the lineup for 18 years. I have scan back over reviews and these are some reference dates that made my same argument Feb 18 2020, Dec 30 2019, Nov 9 2029 and July 19 2019 (there were several I seen in 2018 but did not want to go that far back). This tells me she either lies or does not pay attention to these reviews unless they are a bad one because you see nothing less than 4 stars which is kind of strange with those road condition. If it rains you are out of luck, I am sure so make sure you have all your food, drinks, snacks, and games for entertainment. This is the first time I really gave anyone less than 4 stars and really was unhappy with the service or lack of. So, we were having to find a place to stay at 5:00 in the afternoon after a day out in the water. To end with a good note: There not much to do in the blue ridge area but if you like kayaking go to Blue Ridge Mountain Kayaking. Its peaceful and the owner are very nice. The dates on this is based on the google review site. There is also another on this site with 1 star. I will say she was correct about extending the stay for another night to give us time to get vehicle to travel the road. We could not do that because had to go back to work. Normally if am renting vehicle it plan within the vacation. I don't really go on vacation to think once there we should just go rent a vehicle, especially when I have a perfect 4X4 at home if I would have known of the road conditions. read more

I've stayed with Sliding Rock Cabins 4 times. The cabins are located in the Ellijay / Cherry Log / Blue Ridge area. Their main draw is that they are VERY pet-friendly. They even have pet beds and treats waiting for your mutts. Most of the time, the cabins are immaculate and well equipped. The last cabin I had was a bit run down, but I'll assume that was an exception. The website makes it easy to choose your cabin and they are all as you see online. Be sure to read the posted rules as they are very particular on a few things. If I were not traveling with my girls, I might choose other accommodations but since its so much fun to take them along, Sliding Rock Cabins works great for me. I highly recommend this company if you're looking for a dog-friendly mountain vacation. Every cabin is unique, so I can't speak for all of them, but Nativa was wonderful with a beautiful Blue Ridge mountain view, huge comfy bed, full kitchen, and best of all... seclusion! I realize that when renting these cabins that they are someone's personal property, not a hotel. You can't expect perfection. We did encounter a few issues such as clogged shower, non-heating hot tub, etc. But overall, the experience was a very positive one, especially when it came to communication with SRC. The maintenance guy on the phone was really nice as well. Overall, it was comforting to come back from our daily adventures to a cozy cabin where we could spread out our stuff and relax next to the fireplace. SRC is a fabulous management company and they offer great customer service. They were super helpful in answering my questions via facebook and email. I recommend that you bring plenty of food with you, as well as some sturdy hiking boots... and you're set! And don't forget your dog!! read more

I have rented cabins from Sliding Rock dating back to the early 2000s, so nearly 20 years. I have never been disappointed until this most recent trip. We rented "Seclusion" this past weekend, and had the following issues: the chimney needed cleaning and kept filling the cabin with smoke (yes, the flue was wide open); the light fixture over the bathroom sink didn't work, even with new bulbs; the front door was warped and hard to keep shut; the hot tub was leaking from the bottom, making the water level too low and some of the jets didn't work; and we were given ONE roll of toilet paper for 4 people (we were informed that was in our contract but seriously? Even a crappy motel gives you an extra roll!). When we called about the fireplace twice, the person said they "drove by and didn't see nothing", I guess referring to any trees blocking the chimney (??) but didn't actually come in; a courteous email request for at least a partial refund of fees (due to our inability to fully use amenities) was only responded to with platitudes and nothing else. There are other pet friendly cabin companies in the area and for the first time, I will be exploring these other options on our next trip, based mainly on how the Sliding Rock management (mis)handled our experience. read more

We reserved Nativa to celebrate our daughter's birthday.The cabin was beautiful, the view spectacular. The reservation staff were pleasant, but they should have strongly mentioned that a 4 wheel drive vehicle is required. The LONG road to get to the cabin was mostly dirt, in horrible condition, and IMO required a 4 wheel drive vehicle. One of our vehicles got stuck, and had to be towed to the cabin. The second car was left on the side of the road, miles from the cabin (to avoid another $259 tow charge). According to the tow company, this was not the first time they towed cars to Nativa. Our plan was to spend a few days visiting wineries, orchards, etc, and use the cabin as home base. We realized immediately that if we left the cabin, we would not be able to return. We were prisoners. Upon arrival Saturday, we left a voicemail with the office. On Monday we sent an email reiterating the need for a option-we we're running out of food. The staff did call us back on Monday, allowed us to leave early, and get a partial refund. Our planned vacation was a bust, but we don't want to leave a completely negative review. We drove over 400 miles to get there and made it through all the bad roads on the mountain but the very last road was so steep and bad we kept sliding backwards and scratched up our front bumper. The company says you don't need 4 wheel drive but that is a lie. The reason they say that is because it would limit their business and they would rather just make you sign a rental agreement that lets them steal from you. There are many reviews on yelp and google but I didn't find them until after the fact about what a terrible company they are. We had to ask someone how to get off the mountain because there are no street signs and he even said you need serious 4 wheel drive to navigate the mountain and that sliding rock cabins lied. We were charged $898 for a cabin we weren't able to make it to because of the bad roads and not being told it takes 4 wheel drive to get to it. read more

We were lucky to enjoy Creekside Manner for the Christmas holiday recently. Wonderful space for myself, 2 adult children and their dogs. It was the first time that we stayed at a remote cabin where we did not have to resort to 20 year old VHS tapes. The people at Sliding Rock were friendly and very professional. My fiance, our dog, and I had an amazing week long stay at Seclusion in April. The cabin was clean and beautiful, the view was amazing, and we loved having access to a hiking path right on the property. We were provided with a dog bed, toys, and bowls for our dog. We didn't have to buy any basic supplies like trash bags or dish soap for the week which was convenient. The best part? Getting engaged down by the waterfall! We will definitely be back! read more

I really wanted to like them; cabin was nice (the parts that worked and weren't leaking anyway), but customer service is awful. I rented a cabin specifically with a hot tub for 2 nights for over $500. The hot tub did not work at all and the owner of company offered no solution other than "thanks for bringing it to our attention" (4 days after I initially emailed them). I didn't get what I paid (a lot) for and therefore will not be returning. There were other more minor issues during our stay: linens had notes on them from previous guests, several light bulbs were burnt out, there was standing water in the basement which you had to walk through to get to the lower deck, etc. Thankfully there are plenty of other companies in the area with rental cabins. Recently had our 3rd visit with sliding rock. Our first 2 were amazing. First was at 13 crows and second was at Perfect Getaway. Both were amazingly decorated and freshly updated with nice appliances. They also had a fire pit and firewood. 5 star ratings for those two cabins. And for number 3, Lost Moose Lodge. First I will say that the views from the deck were amazing. The cabin was overall comfy but needed some work. There was a roof leak in the bathroom and it actively leaked during a rain. The roof has green fungus growing on it and needs replaced. The kitchen was outdated. The decor and furniture was cheap and minimal and could use a redoing. The bed upstairs was on the small side for 2 people. The cabin needed a bug man, we found a scorpion inside amongst other mountainous bugs. (I realize you are bound to find bugs in the mountains, but 13 crows and perfect getaway didn't have any scorpions in it). The wood around the hot tub was starting to rot and the deck needed to be pressure washed. Overall I love sliding rock and I am not a terribly picky person. 13 crows and a perfect getaway set the standard high and unfortunately Lost Moose Lodge was unable to keep it at the same level. Hopefully the owner of the cabin will put some work into it because it has potential. read more

We had an absolutely wonderful experience staying at Nativa this past December/January through Sliding Rock Cabins! We've stayed at various cabins in N. Georgia and the Blue Ridge area, using different rental companies, but SRC is by far our favorite. We travel with our four (yes, four ) furkids and this has been the nicest, most pet friendly group ever. From booking to checkout, we had a seamless experience. We stayed in Nativa during the holidays, when the temps dropped as low as 5 degrees, and the folks from SRC were very mindful of making sure we knew what to do during the temperature drops. The cabin itself was lovely. We didn't use the upstairs, as the 1st floor room had a king sized bed (huge, comfortable and cozy!) and our oldest dog can't make it up the stairs anymore, but the cabin is very spacious. The kitchen was very well equipped, we ate in every night except a couple of dinners in town. The showers had excellent pressure and water temperatures. We felt very safe with letting our furkids hang out on the porch and were very happy with how secure the fenced yard was. It was a life saver in terms of them being able to go potty even in the middle of the night, as the surroundings were well lit, too. The views, oh, the views! We sat out there for hours enjoying the lighting and the mountains. The dogs must've sniffed every leaf on double knob! We had our morning coffee each day on the back porch. It was exactly the retreat we needed. If I had to say one thing that could be improved upon (but it's not a big deal and not at all a deal breaker, because we travel with a laptop for work emergencies) it would be to upgrade the living room TV and to add a password to the wifi (we had some slow connections at times). But the little Netflix binge time we had, we were fine on our laptop/tablet. We've been renting cabins for the holiday/winter break for years and this is by far our favorite. Friends recommended this as a last minute getaway to be able to take the pups and boy are we glad we did! It's far enough off the beaten path to feel like you've got complete privacy but close enough to the highway for my hubby to go get me a starbucks:) First impressions as we parked and walked in: could immediately hear the rushing creek and we instantly relaxed, saw the hot tub on the side deck and relaxed even more:) - nice touch that everything had a gate so didn't need to worry about the dogs wandering off. The cabin was perfectly furnished including dog beds, old sheets to cover furniture in case you're on of 'those people' that let their dogs sleep with them (not naming names::) as well as doggy towels for those puppies who like to lay in the creek - mine was guilty as charged! There were even dog beds and dog toys! And a cannister of dog bones! Our dogs kept giving us the side eye, like why don't we get all of this at home??:) There were big screen tvs for the adults and popcorn supplies. As long as there was a corkscrew, we were happy. We had such a great time my husband had me pull up the site to rebook for our anniversary! Oh and don't forget to catch lunch in downtown Ellijay at Cantaberry - tomato basil soup is a must!! read more

We stayed at Ohana Gathering. The group was originally small and as the date got closer instead of 4 people there was going to be 8,(6 adults and 2 babies) in a 3 bedroom 2 bath cabin,so I called to notify the office and someone told me it was not ok, that we could not even have visitors over since the owner does not allow it. So I offered to cancel and the office told me that I would be billed in full, for cancelling 2 weeks before arrival. After checking in we discovered the BBQ grill was not working properly, and the ice maker in the fridge was frozen solid so no access to ice for 2 days until the manager came over and fixed it. Another day we lost power for about 3 hours and we were not notified ahead of time. Then another day we had no water access from 0200 AM to 0900 AM, again no notice until I had to call it in. I forgot our laptop charger and called it in 1 hour after checkout, I was told they will look into it and to send an email. Called a week later for my lost item and was told to check back again 3 days later. After 2 weeks I was told they found it, I asked to pick it up myself and they said the office staff was too busy to meet me and hand it over, also no physical office to go to. Then they wanted to charge me $ 35.00 processing fee and probably another $ 35.00 to mail the charger and that was an estimate, it would probably be more. The cabin advertises a game room, the only thing working in the game room was the pool table and TV All the other 3 games advertised were broken and dangerous to play with. Also advertises a beautiful mountain view, well... there is no view of the mountain, all trees. As I am an experienced cabin renter and I have rented more than 7 cabins through the last 5 years I have never experienced something like this before. So unless you are a lonely couple looking to get away I do not recommend this place as a family friendly cabin. read more

Just got back from River Ritz and we loved it!!! The location was great! Right on the Ellijay River. The fenced in yard was great for the dogs and they liked being close to all the action. Fished in the river but unfortunately did not catch any trout. Next time we will bring tubes to go down the river. There were a few wasp on the property, we called after hours, and they came right out to spray them for us! The whole area is so dog friendly! We went to downtown Blue Ridge and there were dog bowls lining the street with water aka "pooch pubs"! Then we went to Harvest on Main (a must eat at farm to table restaurant!) for lunch and they let the dogs sit with us on the patio and brought them a dog bowl with ice water! read more

I stayed in the "riverhouse retreat" house. It was a fantastic trip. The house is secluded, but quick to get to the main roads. The fenced yard was great for my dogs. The house is right near a river which added more of the nature feel and sound. I didn't experience any wildlife near the house. I had trouble with the key, called the staff and they helped me right away. It was a fantastic trip and I would definitely book again. read more

If you decide to use them, check ALL the pages of contract and your credit card statements carefully. Hidden fees and unauthorized credit card charges even before you enter the cabin. Otherwise smelly blankets, worn out sheets and furniture, even bugs (flies?) or could be bed bugs. You better of renting from Craig's list, at least I was. read more
