We went to check it out while in telluride. Daniel the bar tender / waiter gave us great pampered Servive and the concierge was so helpful to show us several room types. Breakfast was excellent location& service excellent and rooms beautifully appointed. We will stay there next time we go to Telluride. Location is best in town they warn you ahead about the noise. Just do my stay in n rooms 205 or 206. Those are above the bar. I'll d think it'd be worth a little noise. Great place and so pretty!

First off, Telluride Ski Resort is da BOMB and with a variety of hotels to choose from, the New Sheridan Hotel repeatedly tops the list and has always been our absolute fav!! Why you ask? It's truly the "heart" and infamous "postcard picture" of downtown Telluride (courtesy of renowned NY artist, Roger Mason). But beyond the postcards and paintings (which are prominently displayed on the walls of the Parlor) the New Sheridan Hotel has a story to tell. Built in 1985 they say it was the "go-to place" for miners who struck it rich. It was completely restored and renovated in 2008, but let me tell you...while rooms maintain affordable and competitively priced, it still embodies a certain richness and remains historically intact with vintage pieces, memoirs and artifacts throughout. It has only 26 rooms/suites that have been beautifully updated with all the appropriate furnishings, decor and detail one would expect in a 5-Star hotel. If you're lucky enough to get a room with a front street view...holla! Oh, and be sure to take advantage of their roof top hot tubs...on a clear night let the stargazing begin! Last but certainly NOT LEAST...the New Sheridan staff is absolutely AH-MAZING! They're incredibly courteous, friendly, accommodating and always greet you with a warm smile. :-) Many thanks to Ray and his entire team for yet ANOTHER wonderful stay! The New Sheridan Hotel ROCKS!!

We booked a regular suite and got upgraded for a fairly nominal fee to the Ballard Suite. The pros: Location! Front and center to town. Perfect amount of space for our small family. The Ballard Suite has a large king bed facing West Colorado Ave with epic views of town and ski slopes. You can lay in bed and watch snow cats. There is a separate sitting area with a pull out couch for kids to sleep on. The bathroom is tight but well equipped and has fabulous heated floors. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room could use some updating but was spotless clean. Cons: parking. If you're tired parking on the street feels like a hassle and wish there were easier loading area. I thought it might be a problem but honestly it was easy. Just worth mentioning. The only real con is that it's an old hotel so if you are street facing it can be noisy and the walls are thin. BUT that's part of the charm. It's so rare that you can find a centrally located historic, beautiful old Western hotel that doesn't have some noise. If you're worried book an interior room. It's not a 5 star hotel and doesn't try to be, but is definitely a solid 4 with lots of charm. We loved our stay here and will stay again. And for the location the value is good!

Yes!!!! They nailed it! Love coming across special places that just get it :) Karl at the front desk is stellar and the suite he recommended, with caution of course due to the wedding weekend festivities below, worked out great with a sound machine included. Fly fishing tips and great info on the historic hotel. This hotel had it all: well designed (I design hotels and wouldn't change a thing), staff staff and staff ALL smiles and willing to assist, location is perfect, rooftop hot tub under utilized and was very much enjoyed with crazy great views! The restaurant felt like home for breakfast and even dinner was incredible though I don't usually like to eat at the same place twice, this was a no brainer! Tall ceilings, gorgeous furniture, beaded board and subway tile details, 3 bar areas! Cozy, elegance that extended our stay from 1 night to 3! Will be back Sheridan and fam!

It does appear they may have renovated the downstairs common area. There is plenty of lounge seating, a fireplace and light oks like you can host a small gathering. We walked in and the front desk clerk who worked Wednesday was very friendly and even walked the luggage cart down to the garage for us. There is an underground garage that has shared space with the hotel condos. But it is $20 a day to park. I'm not sure if there is an alternative space outside to park overnight. The king room was very spacious and has a fireplace. Our friends stayed in the queen size room which was much smaller and no fireplace. There is plenty of seating in the room and has a large bathroom, wardrobe closet, 2 dressers and dining table. There is a large tv but unfortunately the WiFi is a bit sketchy so we could watch much tv. We even had a small balcony. The bed was very comfortable. Pillows not so much. Plenty of linens. There is a ski valet which is open from 8:30am to 4:30pm which is so nice to have available. We came down the hill late one afternoon and left our equipment outside the valet room. They were safe and sound inside the valet the next day. We had the nicest ski valets taking care of us, Jake and Miller. The hotel provides a free continental breakfast from 7:30am to 9:30am. Bagels & salmon, toast, fruit, yogurt, juice and coffee. The breakfast staff were very friendly. There is a nice pool and jacuzzi with views. A bar/restaurant is attached to the hotel which is convenient. Clearly a locals favorite. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Telluride.

The common areas seem to have been renovated, especially the lounge on the main level. Nice furniture and ambiance with the fireplace and various seating options. For the price this is one of the best deals in town. While it's by no means a modern hotel or resort, and is in fact a bit more on the basic side and a little outdated, you can't beat the location right next to the main Telluride lift and being right in downtown Telluride. I prefer staying here over Mountain Village as things shut down much earlier out that way. If I could have only a couple small suggestions it would be to see how they can get the rooms to not warm up so quickly (it was 10 degrees outside and I had the heat set to 64 and it kept going up to around 70 so I had to open a window). Then it was hard keeping a consistent temperature and I had to get up a couple of times during the night. The television steaming is very inconsistent and buffers or turns off for a few seconds, every few minutes. They also need refrigerators in the room. The beds are very comfortable but the pillows are mediocre. The giant tub is awesome as is the overall size of the room. The hot tub area just wasn't too appealing as the jets weren't strong enough and to get any jets you had to sit out of the tub with only half of your body submerged. It was awkward. Big hot tub but poor design. Needs to be a bit hotter and needs actual jets for both the low back and calves. I would recommend Camel's Garden Hotel to the middle to upper middle income skier who appreciates a great location and an ok experience. If you are fancy or rich then look at one of the boutique properties elsewhere.

We generally love the amenities (though we miss the lip balm that used to greet us). The WiFi is now flawless. We have only stayed in rooms 35 and 37 (better views out of 35 but we liked the quiet of the larger 37 this trip). Rooms have been mostly refurbished (our rooms fridge looked battered but worked great; yes, they have robes) and are generally very clean but on this trip we experienced an issue (discussed below). Not in love with the pricing, which has only gotten higher. Hey, I guess if you can get away with it, go for it. Not at all in love with the money-grab of the parking situation. When we started coming, it was $10/day. Now it's $35. Not in love with the dog-friendly nature of the place (I'm allergic). Supposedly (according to the website and front desk staff) the third floor is off-limits to pets, which should make it a place I can sleep without problems. Well, this time we found the carpet of our third floor suite of rooms was heavily coated with long, white dog hair. I took a Benadryl and mentioned it when we headed down to breakfast the next day and the (thoroughly wonderful) woman staffing the front desk was clearly alarmed and _immediately_ had Housekeeping go vacuum and clean the room; they did a good job which got most (not all) of the hair, so I didn't mention it again. (I do love the responsiveness of the staff, and generally the cleanliness of the room - it's just a problem when there are dogs shedding on carpet). The included breakfast buffet is not what it was: less selection with no more cold meats and cheeses, but still pastries, yogurt, a warm egg dish and warm meats, toasts and hard boiled eggs. Great service by staff in the breakfast room (which moonlights as Cosmopolitan restaurant). Good coffee. So. The unexpected and not entirely removed dog hair - not good. The service was great and generally really welcoming and friendly. Rooms are nice. The location is fantastic. Breakfast is nice, but no longer cartwheel-inspiring. Pricing is high - but look where you are. However, parking is - no other way to say it - a ripoff and kind of an insult. Overall, I guess it's a 4 out of 5 . . . but it's sure not the hip-hip-hooray five stars that I always gave it before I delete my last Yelp account.

We chose it because it is right across the street from a lift and the gondola and has suites with large outdoor decks and hot tubs. Our experience could not have been better. Every single employee we interacted with, from the front desk to the restaurant to the cleaning and maintenance staff were friendly and professional. Our room (25 & 26) was large and exactly as advertised. They combined two rooms to make a really nice suite, with a fireplace in the living room. The deck was spacious and looked out over the area by the lift and gondola. The view was so-so as there are buildings on every side, but it worked well for us. We enjoyed the hot tub each evening. It was very clean and held a steady 103 while we were using it, despite the outside temperature being in the low teens. Their ski locker room is clean and well organized, with a separate entrance/exit that let's you avoid walking through the lobby in your gear. The complementary breakfast each morning was fairly basic, but was more than enough to get us going for the day. The waitstaff kept the coffee flowing, which we really appreciated. We had a small mechanical problem with our room when we arrived, and they handled it immediately. The room price is what you should expect for a large suite in a boutique hotel in a ski town that is literally steps from the lifts and gondola. Although pricey, I believe if offered great value for what we got from the experience. Highly recommend.

I love this property but it's overpriced for what you get and the rooms are definitely dated. They need to update the step in tubs and get rid of all of them and do walk-in showers. The room was so expensive and soooo tiny. The bed sagged and was not comfortable for two people. The worst part is the mandatory valet parking. You have no choice but to leave your car. That wouldn't normally be a problem, but since this property is built on the side of a mountain, all of the rooms are down the hill from check-in. They require you to use the Bellman, which I was grateful for, but it was a hassle when you just needed to grab one more thing out of your car, it took 20 minutes for them to bring your car back around. This was also a burden for my senior citizen mother who is having a really hard time walking up the hill, not only because of the steepness, but because of the high elevation. They really need to have golf carts to shuttle people up and down through the corridor of the property. It took forever to get our car anytime we needed it. I understand that parking is limited, but they should make special concessions when someone has a handicap, they should allow you to have your car parked at your building. For the positives, we enjoyed breakfast and a plated dinner for a wedding reception. The food was absolutely fantastic at both meals! For the wedding dinner, we had mashed potatoes and chicken, and the mashed potatoes tasted just like grandmas, perfectly seasoned, and so incredibly smooth. Hats off to the chef at the lodge! They also provide a complementary shuttle to the gondola which was much appreciated.
