Whoa, has it really been this long since I've first started working with Cindy? I don't get up to Tahoe as much as I want to but every time I go, I make sure I check her schedule. So what happens when Tahoe gets no snow (like in Winter 2011 - Spring 2012)? Well if your one of Cindy's regulars and you live in the Bay Area, you can ask her to ping you if she's ever in town. Cindy drives down to SF once in a while and I've been lucky enough to get an appointment at my house when she's in town. Since that first appointment almost 4 years ago, she's become one of the most skilled massage therapist I've ever worked with. (And I get massages every 3 to 4 weeks from a variety of practitioners.) Her style has evolved into a combination of deep tissue / sports massage / Swedish. So, it gets all the knots out but is relaxing too. I reached out to Cindy on the first day of our vacation and received an immediate response (call & text) Her schedule was very accommodating and she is professional. Cindy was great at helping me loosen the tight knots in my back after a rough river ride. I was in a lot of pain and could hardly move my neck but luckily Cindy made herself available in the evening to help me out. We called Cindy early Monday evening at 5:30 PM to schedule massages in our motel room for the next morning. While originally on the phone with her, cell service was very bad and my sister tried to explain that we wanted 2, possibly 3 massages. So then we had to go to texting back an forth for 2 hours because of the cell service. All in all, less than TWO HOURS later we texted that it would only be the two massages, because I was already feeling pretty sick and I was worried that I would be too sick the next morning to enjoy a massage. So Sarah the massage therapist showed up the next morning and we told her that I would not be able to have the third massage we hoped for, she was upset, so I showed her my huge surgery incision across my shoulders from surgery less than a week ago. I told her that my medicine was making me feel very nauseous that I was in pain and apologized. She seemed upset that she was only getting paid for two massages instead of three, despite the fact that we told her (and showed her the text) that her boss was told the night before that there would not be a third massage. We paid in cash, but there was a dispute about the price of the massage. In the text the night before the price quoted was $102 per massage and when we paid her the massage therapist said it was $120 per... We showed her the text and she said it was a typo but that she would honor that price. Later that afternoon we started getting harassing messages from Cindy demanding payment for the third massage, she pointed out that the massages should have been $120 but that they "honored" the $102. so we should pay for the third massage. By 7:30 last night Cindy knew there was only going to be two massages, and she should've let Sara know and then Sarah would not have had to come out if that didn't work for her. I shared the fact that I was battling cancer and showed Sarah my recent surgery, but apparently getting paid for a third massage is more important to Cindy. Sad. I just had a wonderful massage with Cindy today while we were staying in Tahoe. I typically get deep tissue massages every 2 to 4 weeks as I am a very active individual. I also find I need a therapeutic massage regularly as I am a dental hygienist and suffer from neck and shoulder issues related to my job. I've had many massages over the years with different therapists. She is one of the best. She found the kinks and knots and expertly worked on those accretions. I had called Cindy at mountain massage a couple days ago. I asked about her prices and availability. She could get me in on Friday, and her prices were $110 for one hr and $160 for an hour and half, before the discount, with a $10 discount that would make it $100. I had a discount of $20. She arrived late. Didn't get much of a massage. She mainly touched places. Not very many long strokes. Didn't spend much time on my back, which I had requested, along with special attention to my left leg, where I have a torn tendon. Nor did she give much attention to my shoulders which I also requested. I felt like she didn't listen to my requests. I've had massages for over 50 yrs, and this was one of the worst. Would not recommend this therapist. There are many who do a fantastic job in the area, who are up front with their prices, and listen to their customers. read more
