I booked a facial there, and the aesthetician apparently did not have a license to do extractions. She gave me a consultation at the beginning of the treatment to see what my needs were and I emphasized the need for cleaning up my blackheads. That was the whole reason I went there, and she did not mention that she couldn't do extractions at that time and went ahead and gave me the facial. When I asked about them at the end of the treatment she said "well we don't use the instruments anymore and not a doctor on site." This is BS because she was just covering up the fact that she is not licensed. I spent many hours at home with drugstore products, cleaning out the pores that she did not even address. $185 plus a 20% tip and I'm getting what I want from cheap drugstore products. I've had treatments here 20 years, for both facials and massages. Always very friendly and welcoming and peaceful with great service. I will share that one recent facial was less enjoyable due to the esthetician talking too much, and I wound up telling management that detracted from my experience. TLDR: Molly is the GOAT, the setting above the lake is gorgeous, and the services are exquisite. I got a 90 minute prenatal massage with hot rocks, face massage, sole treatment, and complimentary aromatherapy. I'm 6 months pregnant and felt comfortable the whole time. It's usually hard for me to find my voice in a massage but Molly made me feel like I was in the best, most capable hands. Finally had time to review this amazing spa! I was in the area for business and part of the trip involved a spa day, so my husband and I got a massage. It was our first massage ever and most definitely will not be our last. One thing I learned: Massages are not just self-care but "healthcare," I am now a believer in how much massages have the potential to really affect our overall health. First off, I had to start with how comfortable and relaxing it is when you walk in. Don't get me wrong, stairs is not everyone's friend, but other than that, the view from the second floor is worth it. When I met my therapist, I let her know I know nothing about this experience, or what to do, I am a first-timer, and she made me feel comfortable with what is going to happen and what I can look forward to. I never knew how much I valued comfort until I realized a massage involved getting a little bare. When my therapist left the room to allow me to disrobe, I was very grateful she took that time to talk to me to allow me to get comfortable with her and the upcoming massage. As we started the massage I noticed my therapist asked me great questions, but not too much to take away from the quiet atmosphere; the introvert in me was grateful, and I never felt awkward. I got a full body massage, but at one point she said she can spend more time in a specific area that needs extra attention. I did not mind that at all because as much as I loved my legs and arms getting worked, as an office worker, my shoulders and neck were crying for attention. My husband felt just as amazing and loved his massage as well - we were in different rooms. Something he really appreciated was that his therapist noticed he was sniffling a lot so she helped him relax with some add-on essential oils. After today, my husband and I went home and really started looking into ways to add massage therapy to our routine to keep up our health. As tourists, I don't know when/if we'll return but we are so grateful for the experience. read more

I went to the Granlibakken location and I was so underwhelmed and disappointed with this spa. My massage therapist felt like they basically just spent an hour rubbing oil on me- no pressure anywhere and I left with just as many knots in my back and shoulders that I arrived with. It wasn't relaxing at all. I asked for the aromatherapy add on and there was nothing added with a diffuser or essential oils that I could smell at all. There wasn't even a diffuser in the room and I didn't smell anything at all. I was still charged extra for it. I also couldn't get the massage oil off of me after a few showers, it left my skin feeling gross and oily. I don't know what they used but it didn't smell like anything either. Lastly, I can't understand what kind of massage it was- I was being rocked and shaken and rubbed really hard, my legs/feet held and shaken (it hurt my lower back) and my inner thighs were massaged which isn't a sore area. But the areas that I mentioned were tight and needed attention weren't even touched barely. My arm and leg was just dropped several times during the massage and the whole thing felt so disjointed- there was no flow to it and one technique used on one foot wasn't used on the other and so on. It felt like a student was massaging me, no expertise felt at all. So strange and incredibly expensive (60 minute massage for $125 plus $20 aromatherapy add on plus time). I don't recommend this spa. read more

I have been a customer of this spa for many years but this last experience was very poor. The massage was very good as expected as the Therapist Molly was recommended to me by a trusted source. However I was offended by the upselling of both the Therapist and the receptionist at the Tahoe City Location. At the end of the session Molly asked is she could add DEEP TISSUE to my bill for an additional $25 on top of the top of market price of $180 for a 90 minute massage, I declined. The receptionist told me again at checkout that I had requested a deep tissue add on and I said again I did not request it or agree to it. I added my normal 10% gratuity to the bill of 180 for a total of 200 and she informed me that 15 to 20% was customary. I would like to know where this is customary for personal services on top of a highly inflated price for a massage. I am sure Molly is not making the minimum wage of $16.50 an hour for restaurant workers that depend on tips where I do tip 20% or more. After reflection I should have left a $1 tip. I find their upselling and shaming unacceptable and it ruined my experience and I will never return. In addition they could not provide a paper Credit Card Receipt and when I signed on the keypad it did not show what the amount I was signing for. This is a very shady operation and I recommend that you avoid them. Leave this establishment for the Tahoe billionaires that don't need to work for their money. read more

My mother in-law and I had appointments today. We are visiting from Austin,Tx and we were highly disappointed. If you are use to a great spa this is not the experience you would want. They had one person doing facials so we had to coordinate our appointments. Maybe if this is your first time ever to do a spa service you wouldn't be disappointed but if you are use to them this is not the place to go. Also during my mother in-laws appointment we found out that we had to leave due to an emergency and we were charged a cancellation fee for my appointment due to the lack of people working here. So, I booked a massage and a facial here for my best friend's birthday. The entire staff is amazing. From booking over the phone, to follow up calls, and even a call warning is about the parade and how it may delay us, they were amazing. When you are looking for the place, let me save you some time: it's behind the Safeway above the gym. Our massage was 50 minutes with Erica? I believe, and it was amazing. She did a lot of deep tissue work with light stretching, and it was perfect! She definitely can find your knots! My facial was the 60 minute deluxe? with the girl with long blonde hair and super green eyes (I can't remember her name). That facial was also AMAZING. I never fall asleep during spa visits, and I fell asleep. She is super soft handed, and the product smells great. It is the Dermalogica line that she uses. Either way, my best friend says it was the best facial she's ever had. I only have a couple suggestions: -Offer more types of facials. I would have loved to add a microderm abrasion, or a peel, or something for a little extra. -Hot tea would be nice also, as we are up in the Tahoe mountains. -The waiting room and the entrance are connected pretty closely, and if I was shy, it might make me uncomfortable. To be honest, it's a small, super hidden place, and they have created a beautiful, relaxing spa with the space they have. This place could easily rake in the customers if they expanded in space and spa options a little. read more
