The portions are HUGE, and we easily could have shared. The bolognese was decent; you could tell the pasta was fresh, but the sauce was on the acidic side (needed a pinch of sugar to cut it), and there was very little meat to speak of. The chicken piccata was also mediocre-- very salty, and the sauce was lacking in lemon flavor and far too heavy on the butter. Chicken piccata is one of my favorite dishes, and this one was trying so hard to be fancy that it missed the mark on executing what is traditionally a simple dish of crispy chicken cutlets in a lemon white wine butter sauce with capers. Could hardly taste the lemon, and I'd be surprised if there was white wine in it. I only ate half because I feared the butter sauce would wreak havoc on my stomach. The dinner was disappointing, so we gave Mambo another chance by ordering a takeout pizza on our last night with an order of tiramisu. The pizza was also mediocre-- it was extremely greasy with a soggy crust. At $36, it was a pricey mistake. The tiramisu was literally a tub of mascarpone cream and cocoa powder-- not a ladyfinger in sight. I assume this was an oversight in the kitchen, but a straight mouthful of mascarpone cream is not appetizing...
