Okay first off if i could give this place ten stars I would! From the ambience, to the service,…read moreand especially the food, this place is outstanding!!! Our waiter was super considerate of modifications we made to our meals which made the experience even better! I had the Aglio E Olio which was popping with flavor and the pasta was cooked from scratch, and you could taste the difference! Even the appetizer (Hummus w/ flat bread) was a dream! If you havnt tried this place you are hugely missing out! This is hands down by far the best Italian food I've ever had! I don't think i'll be able to eat at any other Italian restaurant after trying Mazzola's!

Unfortunately we had a less than amazing experience here. I really don't make many "bad" reviews…read morebut I feel like this is necessary. The food was good, no complaints there but unfortunately the service was lacking. We arrived on a Friday around 6 PM with no reservations. We spoke to the host and he added us to the waitlist. It was a 15-20 minute wait and we received a text that our spot at the bar was ready in just under 15 minutes. When we returned, there was a wait to speak to the host. Two parties in front of us. We waited. When it was finally our turn to speak to him a couple came rushing down the stairs, cut in front of us and headed to the open spots at the bar. The host proceeded to ignore us and instead sat the couple who didn't have a reservation and was not on the waitlist at those bar spots. I spoke up and said we had just received a text that they were ready to seat us, luckily two additional spots opened shortly afterwards but it really rubbed us the wrong way that the host completely ignored us after we had been waiting in line to help people who just walked in and cut the line. Another thing that wasn't great is that the host brought that couple menus and did not bring us any. We had to get up and ask him for some. Finally, the service at the bar was terrible. We had to ask to order and the bartender never asked if our food was ok or if we needed anything else. I've worked as a server before and I know the bartenders get very busy but we didn't even get the bare minimum. When it was time to pay and tip, the bartender filled our beer glass halfway... I assume as a "sorry for neglecting you, please still give me a good tip". Overall just a very disappointing experience from a customer service standpoint.

So happy we decided to stop in Mambo! I loved walking in and seeing the kitchen immediately, this…read moreis usually a sign that food is going to be goooooooood. We were seated right away with no reservation (on a Tuesday evening around 7:30 pm); I imagine reservations probably come in handy. We started with a bottle of wine - the wine list had a wide range of bottles priced lower to your more expensive bottle; we chose one in the middle range (super Tuscan) and it was very tasty. Reviews on food: Calamari: I really enjoyed the calamari! It was lightly battered but had just enough crunch. The flavor was great. They even had lemon wedges and pepperoncini fried in with the calamari which I loved. Cesar salad: I forgot to snag a picture of the salad, and it also happened to be my least favorite item we ordered. The dressing was overly sweet for my liking and did not have your standard Cesar flavoring. I wish I would have asked more about the dressing to understand it a little better. I probably would not order this salad again. Eggplant parmigiano: this was sooooo good! The eggplant was breaded and cooked perfectly. I could have just eaten the eggplant it was so tasty. Highly recommend!! Tagliatelle bolognese: I am a huge sucker for bolognese, so I usually judge this sauce pretty tough. This. Was. De. Licious!!! The meat sauce was full of flavors and the noodles were cooked perfectly. I was impressed! Butterscotch budino: perfect way to end our meal. I'm a huge fan of butterscotch flavored desserts and this did not disappoint. It was light and not too heavy after a meal of pasta. The thick layer caramel on top was delicious. The portions were big in my opinion, so while prices were a little high, I thought we got our moneys worth of food. Our server (and others that came to the table) were all super kind and helpful. It does get very loud in the restaurant, so had the weather been nice enough to eat outside, I probably would have chose the patio seating. Overall this was a great meal! 5 starts for the scrumptious food, portion size, and service.

I tried the peach "Long Drink' seltzer for just five dollars and it was so good! My friend also tried some of the house cocktails and were raving about them I decided to go for the poke place, ordering two musubis to hold me over until dinner. They delivered them right to where we were sitting, and picked up the trays when we were done. The musubi's were so yummy, the perfect amount of food for a midday snack. Absolutely love this place, I'm going to be here again this weekend !

Plenty of options for all tastes - burgers, Asian, Jamaican, pizza, sandwiches, etc. There's also a full service bar. Spacious place with plenty of seating. Three stories, with restaurants on the lower two. I kinda feel bad for those restaurants on the lower level. They're easy to miss if you just walk in on the main level from streetside. Everything we ordered was good, and the pizza was a big hit. Everything was ordered by app. All the staff we encountered were very pleasant.

Our dinner had four different selections, Lasagna for my Girlfriend, a Pizza for one of the others, pasta for both I and the other friend. Service was a little slow but super efficient. Every dish was good and more than ample. The GF and I had the remaining Lasagna for lunch the next day. Brick will be my number 2 choice for Italian in Steamboat, close behind Mambo. Great to have two very good choices in the future. PS, Brick definitely has the upper hand in seating between the two having much more individual space.

And get a side of the homemade pesto for your crust, you won't regret it. The location is great, right in downtown Steamboat and the inside of the restaurant is quaint but lovely. Bonus points for the tasteful artwork in the men's bathroom. Will be back next time we are in steamy.
