Stayed here one night to avoid having to do 3.5 hours back to ABQ the same day. Staff gets A++++ When we arrived, our room was ready but it was on the 1st floor. I asked if there was anything on the top (3rd) floor and the front desk tried calling house keeping to confirm if a room was ready. She couldn't get a hold of her by phone so she set off to personally locate her. Anyway, long story short we were able to get our top floor room. Both women working the front desk were soooo nice. They had sleds that we could borrow and take to White Sands. One of the ladies was so cute. She kept encouraging my almost 70 year old mother to do the sledding. (She did it!) They had a pretty nice selection of food for (complimentary) breakfast. We stayed at a Hyatt Regency in ABQ and they had no breakfast unless you wanted to pay for room service or go to the sit-down restaurant. The room istelf was clean and the beds were comfortable. No complaints. Totally recommend staying here.

Then we stepped out onto the patio with our pistachio ice cream, and wow... completely unexpected. The space is gorgeous. Calm, open, and the kind of place that makes you slow down without even trying. Honestly, if I lived nearby, I'd be planning celebrations here without a second thought. Somewhere between the views and the tasting, I tried their pistachio rosé. And yes, I had the same reaction, "wait... what?" But it worked. Different, pleasant, and surprisingly good. The theater can also be rented out for special events. Alamogordo Music Theatre performs musicals here twice a year. The building was originally a movie theater, that has been converted and gradually improved over the years. The technical equipment (sound, lighting, stage) is somewhat bare-bones but adequate. All the seats are good, but the center orchestra seats toward the front are the best. The theater also puts on a series of tailgate concerts every summer at the New Mexico Museum of Space History. Ticket prices are reasonable ($10-$40), in part because the theater is a non-profit and is subsidized by generous local financial support.
