Will be looking for a new company to provide us with propane. It took over 40 minutes to place an order to get a refill. Had to talk to someone in Ohio, difficult to understand, likely in another country, could not get a connection to our local office, they say it is not allowed. I had to pay in advance, which is difficult since we aren't sure exactly how much needs to be delivered. Have to pay by debit or credit, not happy about giving out my credit card info to someone supposedly in Ohio. While trying to input the credit card information, I was disconnected and had to call back and start all over again. Used to love the service, they would come fill up the tank when we called, leave an envelope on the door and I would mail in the payment. Totally unsatisfied with the service, the process and the waste of time you cost me today to just place a simple order. You have lost a customer and I will not give good reviews to locals who ask. read more

We recently bought a gas stove that needed conversion to propane. Twice we had an appointment for them to just come and assess if they can do the conversion. Both times no one showed up and no one called. When we called Amerigas to find out what was going on we talked to multiple people all with foreign accents who were very nice but useless. They all promised someone would call/ show up and no one ever did. We will NEVER use this company for anything again. Very poor customer service, lies and excuses. We have had Mountain Propane as our propane provider for over three years. Although it was the company that serviced our house prior to when we bought it, we kept their service and have been quite glad we did. Mountain Propane offered us the option of leasing or buying our reserve tank. Initially we leased the tank but bought it during our second year. At the time, I didn't think to as for a discount as the tank was in place and had been used since 2004 rather than being new. I'm not sure if the discount (for the used tank) would have been available. Mountain Propane offers excellent service...we call them when the tank is less than a third full and they bring in their delivery truck on their next service date for the area. We get the bill in the mail shortly thereafter. This "no waiting around" for service is quite helpful as our Port Townsend days are very full with activities and it would put a definite chill on them were we to have to wait for the service truck! Staff at the office is very friendly and serve-oriented. I've called many times from California without the account number. The staff has been able to "find" our account and set up a delivery date promptly...all done in a cheery manner. The company also offers an emergency service which (fortunately) we have never had to use. There are several other propane companies in the area. Each (I'm sure) has its attributes. But we're sticking with Mountain Propane as they have treated us well. read more

So sad that after being with Mountain Propane (AKA - AmeriGas) since 2015 we are forced to switch to another local provider due to a steady decline in their service. As some folks have noted, it seems that once AmeriGas took over, the customer service and response time went way down and their price per gallon went way up. AmeriGas claims to be improving service through their website and online ordering capability. I would question that since after sending three contact emails via their website, all I have received is their "auto-response" which promises a personal response. It seems that attempting to do business locally is becoming more of a challenge these days when big conglomerates take over small local businesses, it is a death sentence to these businesses. My recommendation is AVOID doing business with any propane company under the AMERIGAS umbrella!! read more

Worst customer service ever. Just moved into an address they service and it's been 3 days and they still haven't emailed me the paperwork I need to be able to have them come fill the empty tank. How long does it take to send an email? Meanwhile it's super cold and has been snowing and we have no heat. After 4 phone calls and talks with various people the best they can do is say they will try to email the paperwork by the end of today and that they can't schedule a fill until they get it back. I'm seriously going to ask the landlords to find a new propane provider. read more

I called when my tank was at 8% on Tuesday and was told it would be filled by end of week by Monday when my tank was at 2% it still was not filled and they wanted to charge me $150 fee for same day delivery! Worst service ever! I tried to close my account 4+ months ago and they have still never refunded my money and have never picked up their tank. This is all after I let them know we were out of propane and they told me they were too busy to come out and fill it. They had come out to check it in the past so we didn't have to, I had assumed they were still doing this but that was not the case. After waiting a week with no hot water and no way to cook I was told they still didn't have time for us and they had more important accounts than ours. I couldn't believe they told me that. Still waiting for a check and for the tank to be picked up. I have been a customer of mountain propane's for about 10 years. I never really had any problem with them until the summer when they were very late, and when I got my propane tanks filled up a couple months ago the price seemed exorbitantly high. I paid about $2.79 a gallon for my thousand gallons tank here at the house. I did some checking around today as I saw some signs posted for something like $2.09 at another supplier so I called up mountain propane and asked them to take a look at my bill and she said that I should ignore the other signs that I see because those prices are for bringing in propane canisters off the street not for residential delivery so I said so you're telling me that if I order a thousand gallons of propane it's gonna be more expensive per gallon than walking in off the street? She said that yeah right now it would be about $2.59 a gallon. So after I finished teh call with her I called another local supplier -- a new company that I had seen before and talked to them and they said that they would only charge me $1.89 A gallon and that mountain propane had been bought out by a corporate provider which makes sense because the bill that they sent me had a mailing address of Pasadena California or something like that. Anyway needless to say next time I need my thousand gallons of propane I am not going to mountain propane they seem somewhat disinterested and almost skeptical that I was going to get a lower price. Anyway this is not a complaint about mountain propane I've never had any problem with them other than being a little bit slow this summer I'm just commenting on the fact that perhaps now that they're owned by someone else they are less aggressive about maintaining their existing accounts, I don't know I can only offer my perspective. read more

Their billings are so screwed up that I was told to ignore what the bill said and just make my budget pay payment. My budget pay monthly amount has gone up over $150 in two years. I have been with them for several years and always paid my bill then I had to file bankruptcy and even though they were not included they penalized me for it. It became a c.o.d. but they would not do partial fills. So I get money put on account and they let my tank run out of propane anyway on the coldest days ever. I have kids at home but they don't care. Their front office people need some lessons in customer service. It is not appropriate to yell, swear, and threaten to have a customer removed from the property just because the customer is disputing the bill. She got mad that she had to repeat herself three times. The manager is nice, the guy who did the work did a good job, but when trying to deal with the front office, it is completely inappropriate the way they handled the situation. I have been a customer for Mountain Propane for 18 years and have recently terminated my services with them. This local company recently was bought by a corporation and this is when my problems started. I was quoted a price for repair which ended up costing twice as much and included a trip fee that was not stated. My annual tank rental has gone up from 40.00 to 100,00. Avoid company like the plague. 1. We have automatic fill. In January they let the tank run dry. It took them 48 hours (without heat or cooking fuel) before they filled it again. 2. They charge $2.70/Gal. On that day, the national average was $1.99, and the first other place I called was $2.00. They also will not quote a price per gallon until you tell them and account number so everyone apparently gets a different price. Like a used car dealer, "how much can we take them for?" 3. When I told them I wanted to cancel my account (customer for 10+ years), they told me for the first time that they charge for picking up the rental tank. They just made that one up. 4. Because they ran the tank dry, they were supposed to give me a $25 discount on the next fill. They did not. read more

I had good luck with Mountain Propane until we sold our home and tried to cancel service. We sold last August, it is now January and I cannot get them to take me off of the billing! I called in July to take us off of the property on the sale date and since have called and emailed to get off of this account...I've given them the new owners names, told them to come and take the tank, etc, etc..... I've been told it is now ok and then again receive another billing...each time for more money. I am now concerned about the effect this could have on our credit score. I was a mountain propane customer for the past 10 + years. The lack of response to a "stinky"/"Leaking tank" complaint in 2015, plus pricing on the high end of the local market, prompted me to change vendors in 2016. After numerous phone calls , two visits to their local office, their empty tank still sits as a landscaping feature in my front yard 3 months after termination of service. Excuses for not picking up the tank (rented from them) range from personell problems, equipment maintenance problems, scheduling problems.........ad nauseum. After five weeks of lies (starting in early December 2016) and delivery no shows I have quit their service, like so many others. Amer Gas bought them in the fall of 2016. Anyone with a "Contracted" auto refill has had the same problems. They are getting rid of us by not providing deliveries, so we quit and move on to other local suppliers (like Pioneer Propane in Carlsberg, WA). I had no problems for the first three years, then new owners. No one answers the phone, goes to voice mail sometimes and no voicemail the rest of the times. Been calling many times for the last three weeks and leaving messages when the voicemail is available for them to come and pick up their two 120 gal. tanks. They are still in my front drive way. I was told by a local supplier that the first thing the new owners did was fired all their tenured employees and hired all new employees at lower pay. No wonder there is no more customer service. I have been a customer with this company since the summer of 2016. I have been extremely unimpressed with their competency and organization. It is nearly impossible to get in touch with the office, and when contact is made, the message is not passed on, action is not taken, and there seems to be precious little communication between the office and the drivers/technicians. In addition to poor customer service and communication Mountain Propane has allowed tanks in my community to run empty. They frequently charge too much for services based on estimates rather than readings or actual usage. If you request an actual reading or service, additional fees are tacked on. Overall I would not and do not recommend this company to potential customers. read more

Sorry to say these guys have rally fallen down on the job. A month ago I called to be put on auto refill. 3 weeks ago, I called to say the tank was at 30%, a week before xmas, 20%. Last week on Tuesday, under 10%. I was assured each time they'd take care of it. Last Thurs, I came home assuming they'd taken care of it. Friday, empty tank. Hung around all day because they told me they'd call the truck and get back to me. No call, no delivery. Now Jan 2nd, it's below freezing and their voice mail is full. I am supposed to be on auto fill so that we don't have to be concerned about monitoring the tank level. I always have to call because Mountain does not do their job. Called last Monday and told them I was below 20% and was told they would be here by Friday. Well, it is Wednesday the following week and still no propane. We had Mountain for ten plus years and the service was great until fall of last year. Couldn't get a return call to fill our tank for weeks, which turned in to months. After weeks of calling I finally gave up. Finally had a new service take over and they left the Mountain tank (which I had paid to lease) and I called for a pickup of the empty tank. I even made a personal appearance in March at their local office to get them to take it and I was told it would be done immediately and I would be charged $65. They picked it up, after I again called, last week, nine months after it went empty, and three months after the office person said it would happen. Got the $65 charge PLUS another $130 to "empty the tank", (empty an empty tank?). This is a terrible operation and I honestly don't trust them. read more

We weren't able to get our auto-refill due to ice on our very steep driveway, last week. We were facing serious consequences without a fill. And down to 8% by today. Everyone at Mountain has been very patient with my numerous calls so I could coordinate getting the de-icer folks in and a gas delivery right behind that. From office staff to my two delivery fellows, the service and effort on our behalf has been definitely 5 stars. And frankly, if there were more stars, I'd give them as many as possible. The situation with no delivery from Mountain Propane has just been resolved. After the initial call on Dec.1 (and several follow up calls), my daughter was able to talk to someone other than Emily or Mary Ann. The gentleman listened politely and checked the delivery schedule. Again, we are not scheduled. My daughter then informed him to cancel the delivery request, if it's ever located, and come out and pick up their tank for our greenhouse. Plants and veggies are now all frozen. Then she called Pioneer Propane at 11::40 and explained the problems. Even though they are closing early, it took less than 1/2 hour for two men to arrive and bring us a new tank for the greenhouse, which they also filled. Have dealt for Mountain Propane for 15 years and always satisfied--until this year. I called them the Monday before Christmas to tell them my 250 gallon tank was low. Lady said the delivery would be made on Thursday. It was not. I waited and waited. Tank is now down into the red zone (below 20%). Left message first thing this a.m. (Jan. 3rd) and hours later have not heard back. Still get voice mail when I call. I've used Mountain Propane for 7 years with no problems until just recently when I had a late payment. Imagine my shock when I received in my bill a "rebilling fee" of $4.60 AND a "statement fee" of $8.00. If this is their policy with excellent customers, I need to find another provider. read more

Absolutely the worst. We are supposedly on their auto fill plan but know not to rely on them to keep an eye on it. I called them last week to let them know our gauge was reading in the teens. I called them two days ago, first thing, to let them know we were at 3%. This morning we are below the red mark (zero) and I feel we can't run the dishwasher or laundry for fear there won't be enough fuel to heat the house. Every time I call they assure me they will be out that day. Never happens. It's the same story each time we run low. Absolutely the worst customer service ever! I have been a Mountain Propane, Port Hadlock, WA, customer for the past 2 and 1/2 years. I have NEVER received acceptable service from them. I called for a propane re-fill when my tank was at 20 gallons. I felt that was enough advanced notice, that I needed my tank topped off. And that they would be able to re-fill my tank within 48 to 72 hours. My first call was on a Thursday, 5 January, 2017. Then, I called again on the following Monday, 9 January, 2017. No-one came. The following day, I again called requesting a re-fill. This was my third phone call requesting a re-fill. No-one ever answers the phone, it goes straight to voice mail. So - by then, my tank was about 10 gallons. Again, no-one came. Then I call on Wednesday, 11 January, 2017, AND BEG FOR THEM TO COME! I did receive a voice mail that a driver would be at my house Wednesday. No-one came. Thursday morning, my propane tank is empty! So - Thursday morning (a week later) - I go into the Mountain Propane Office, and terminate my service with them. There was a customer in front of me with the same lack of service issues I have. It's a systemic problem Mountain Propane has with meeting their service commitments. They really have a serious problem. How they stay in business is beyond me. Our propane was down to 15% so called Mountain Propane on a Thursday. We have used them for years. Although they usually require 7-10 days notice in our case, the man I spoke with understood we had a situation and needed propane fast. He asked how many gallons were left and estimated that we had enough for a few more days, so would send a delivery on the following Monday or Tuesday. That was a relief. By Wednesday there was still no delivery. When I called the company on the phone on Wednesday, a different man (not the same one) said that they did not deliver it and they would not deliver it until 7 - 10 days out and that they would never tell me that they would deliver it the following Monday for a Thursday call (I guess emergency or not). Except they did and we were counting on them to do so. Unlike the first man I talked with, this one didn't seem too concerned that we were worried about running out of gas.
