I'm an avid crystal shopper. At first glance this place looks cute , very 70s mountain mama vibes but while I was in there I got a uncomfortable feeling and wanted to leave but I ended up buying a ton of crystals and sadly when I got home I realized half were fake. That made me sad. Looking back the lighting in the store was so dark. It was hard to tell the crystal quality. I wish I would've just paid more attention to the crystals. read more

Mountain Spirit is my favorite place to shop for stones and crystals. Such a great ambiance as soon as you walk in. Beautiful stones at fair prices when other places tend to be very overpriced less eye-catching. I can always find many things here for my crafting, as well as stunning pre-made jewelry. I've seen a couple different cashiers here and they're always very friendly and welcoming. I live in San Jose but I make the drive just to come here. On my most recent visit I was shopping for a gift and the cashier offered to box it up with lavender for me! It is just lovely and I'm so satisfied I made the trip! read more

I've been following Mount Spirit on social media for a few months and have been dying to get over here in person! Finally did this past weekend and the shop is just as lovely in person as the images they show online. Lots of unique crystals and jewelry along with a small room dedicated just to books-spiritual and mystical titles abound. They also sell a variety of locally made goods and I found my favorite Bonny Doon lavender products. I picked up some Christmas gifts and a small ornament for myself. The staff is lovely and made sure we felt welcomed, asking if there were any questions about the types of crystals they carry. Support and shop local and come by here for holiday gifts. We love shopping at Mountain Spirit. Summer of 2021 we walked in and I'm pretty sure we've been back five times since. They have a paper that explains the power of each stone. We took it home and studied what combos for different places we wanted. For example, I have a combo for driving in my car, one for work, travelling, next to my bed, and for my pocket. Today I went in search of a worry stone, Tokens in Half Moon Bay was low, I knew that Mountain Spirit would have a better supply. And I was correct. : ) The people who work here are seriously the nicest people ever. Never do I feel pressured to buy anything, or looked at like a suspect. It's all good vibes. I love this shop. I drive up from Santa Cruz just to get my gems. The owner is very friendly, EXTREMELY generous and knowledgable, along with her staff. They have a beautiful collection of gems and stones (some of the most beautiful Fluorite I have EVER seen), local art, jewelry and craftsmanship and lots a nice collection of well selected books. I appreciate that the shop carries so many objects that are practical for so many paths and does not cater to ones specific path, but many. The energy in the store is friendly, warm and full of light. They carry information sheets for individuals who are unfamiliar with the stone qualities and where they come from. They are always willing to help, even if the person at the counter doesn't have the immediate answer, they always make sure they find out. I have been in the shop a couple of times when customers come in and are rude and demanding and then call the shop too simple and poorly staffed. We all know the basic rules of universal energy, what you put in is what you will get out. If you come into the shop with an entitled, self-righteous and demeaning attitude you won't find what you are looking for in any place. And as I have observed the staff deals with these people patiently, kindly and offers them as much help as they can. But people who expect nothing, will find nothing and those who demand everything will never be satisfied. As for the restroom comment... Really? Thats not that uncommon and rain is just water. If thats the worst thing about the shop then obviously they are doing a lot more right then wrong. read more

I wish I'd had a better experience - I expected better. I was in a great mood today, even though it was pouring buckets of rain outside, so it wasn't like I was grumpy or anything. There were two women running the store: one older, one younger. It started when I asked if I could use the restroom and was told "we don't have one for customers." Seriously, it's pouring rain and if I leave, I'm not coming back. It's not like there were a ton of people shopping, ya know? Shouldn't you have been happy to see ANYONE in this rain? I had three negative interactions in less than 15 minutes in the store. Strike 3, you're out! All in all, I found them to be snooty, rigid, and not clear on the concept of customer service. I won't be back. They don't have anything thata a dozen other stores don't have in this county. read more

This place is a magical place. Aside from the building itself having a particular personality made of many years of energy and memories, its the owner. Think Cancererian and think angels.. The place has an angelic feel in it. The kinds of books that are filled in this place are books on positive affirmations. Many of the scented items have higher tones of smells in them and are very much contained within each item rather than permeating the store. The owner encourages children and women. She also encourages locals to have workshops out of her store. She is welcoming and encouraging of many energies.. Sure humans have days when they don't want to deal with customers or when they are late opening shop and that happens in every business and people talk however the positive elements of this store really in my experience and in my witnessing are prevalent and so valuable. Ok now for my personal story.. I waited a long time to review this place because I felt that my personal story made me very biased and I wanted to give a fair review... I used to go in once a month to buy a crystal (they always have an affordable crystal and the owner can tell you where each one came from, what their purpose is and when she got them) On this particular visit I was feeling like I was ready to give up on the hopes of attracting a romantic relationship that would fulfill my desires for similarities and compatibility. I was tired of only going to sports events and never going to artistic things, I always wanted someone who would dance.. I had been attracting people who were opposite of me and I loved them but really felt I was losing hope of ever meeting that person that I could share things I really love with and who would understand me on many levels.. She mentioned I have to keep doing what I love and I told her I already have been doing that for so long.. I said I was losing hope as a tear of mine fell on the display case. A couple of days later I got a call from a friend. Basically the owner had been trying to track me down and had asked around about who I was because after I left a bottle fell off of a shelf. She said it had been gifted to her randomly at a fair by someone she did not know a while back but that it was a love potion spray and she knew it was meant for me because it fell off the shelf after I left. ... Long story short I picked it up, manifested for a month, chose a day I would meet my kindred spirit and I have been with them ever since.. That was a couple of years ago around this time.. This relationship has met me on every level while still encouraging my growth. I have someone to take ballroom dance classes with me, paint with me, and we have many many more adventures that are specific to my own personal tastes.. Since then.. I feel the energy of spirit guides or angels that all the psychics always said were hovering over me.. I , a person who has always worn black.. talk to angels now.. Im telling you.. the energy in this place around this person.. is very real.It might not be glamorous or sparkly but its clean, uplifting, and direct. read more

Must check out Quick add: this little shop is in a strip of shops with a bit of an overhead that include a restaurant [a couple] and a coffee shop. Any one of those have bathrooms that are meant for customers & allow people use them that need to. It does not get that cold in Calif, imo, and most people dress for the weather [layer especially in the mountains] No small shop with only one worker should ever under the best circumstances let someone in the their private bathroom in back or allow them in the shop before they have counted their money and set up. To expect otherwise shows some privilege that should be checked. read more

Love Mountain Spirit! I am a local and shop here often for gifts. I love that they always get new inventory, and the pricing is reasonable. The staff is friendly and allows you to browse, but offers assistance too. The staff is also knowledgeable, which I appreciate since I don't know it all. I am shocked by the number of negative comments because I have only had positive experiences while shopping. IMHO the negative reviews say more about the yelpers than the shop itself. I came into the shop to look around as I had been hiking in the Nisene forest, on my way back to SJ. They have beautiful crystal jewelry, actually picked up a beautiful amethyst piece. The only thing that was rather disagreeable was my experience with the owner. She made it quite obvi that she was busy and didn't want to answer too many questions. She was short and rushed with me, like leave me alone I got lots to do!! Which is fine, just not a good feeling. Otherwise the store is wonderful and the jewelry selection is pretty varied. I can't believe what happened today. I called this store Mountain Spirit and was told it it closed Sunday at 6 PM. I drove from Monterey to go there and was there ten after five and the place was closed. As in dark, empty, and no sign on the door. What kind of crap is that for customer service. I expected the store to be open as the sign is posted on the door 12-6. How can you check the place out when the the place is closed! This place must have terrible energy. This place must be making lots of money if they can close early. This defiantly is not a magical place to visit!!!!!!! read more
