I do love going in here. I love their selection and the way they organize things. It's so great and cute and it's very friendly going near. The staff is always very great. The only thing I say is of course the prices they're very high and in economy we need to regulate and make sure we're putting braces that people where people can afford. First of all Zinnia's is my favorite go to place for gifts and clothes. The items here are top notch and I am always happy with my purchase. HOWEVER I went in today and for the first time was sorely disappointed. I spent $176.00 dollars on two items and since they were on sale they were not eligible for the free gift wrap (which consists of a cellophane bag and some twine). Typically whenever I come out of this store my receipt looks like I just stepped out of COSTCO (hundreds of dollars spent). Come on Dedra - surely you can afford to offer all items free gift wrap - it is a nicety that equates to good customer service; which in this day of flash fashion and little to no emphasis on customer service would keep customers coming back. I thank you for what you do for the SV community - but I have to say this does not speak to valuing the customer's patronage and comes across as miserly. I'll probably be back - but I wont be asking for free gift wrap - don't want to run the risk of the store going bankrupt. read more

Adorable gift shop, packed to the brim with unique home decor, candles, jewelry, soaps and lotions-definitely a girly girls spot. I had seen an add for Zinnia's holiday open house while visiting Santa Cruz. Decided to check it out on the way home and lucked out by getting there about 30 minutes before closing. They had a raffle going on and some snacks. The staff was welcoming and helpful even though it was near the end of their day. Lots of nautical and woodland themed decorative plates, nic-nacs and owl/bird type decor. Cute scarves and purses as well, with prices that were fair for one of a kind items. Great place to stop for gifts and plenty of parking. Now that I know where it is, I can see stopping by when I'm in the area. i went in there and bought some gifts. I wanted to exchange one of them. apparently their policy doesnt allow the exchange of an unworn mask. The mask was 20 dollars! the reason for exchange was that it was too large. never worn though. The least they can do is give me a small discount for a new mask. No refunds or exchanges. what really pissed me off was the old lady at the counter giving me artitude when i was explaining the situation. I old her she can keep the mask and left. never again will i shop from there. read more

Zinnia's is my favorite place to find very special and unique gifts - for my friends, family, and yes - for myself! There are pieces made by local artists, such mosaic garden items and beautiful jewelry.. all kinds of wonderful decorative and functional gifts for the home, purses, clothes, holiday decor, furniture, really cool clocks... but my words can't really describe Zinnia's charm. I went in shopping for my god daughter's birthday and I right off the bat I was approached by a small middle age woman who seemed far to overbearing. Once I was actually able to look around without someone hovering over my shoulder I soon over heard some workers behind the counter speaking about customers that they had to deal with that day speaking very unkindly. Due to the cute (but very expensive merchandise) I continued to shop only to be approached again by another worker this one was was equally pushy borderline rude. The displays were very charming but due to their lacking in personal space and proper customer service I will not be shopping at this establishment again! read more

I've never actually been able to purchase anything from Zinnias. I've been to their store three times in the 9years I've lived in the valley- and each time, I've left feeling like the staff was pretentious & rude. Like I am not the kind of customer they want. I came in tonight with my 8 year old daughter and my mother in law from out of state, and while looking at something, one of Zinnias employees comes by me with her arms out wide and says, "Please step aside" and is attempting to clear a way for a customer with a cane. I was off to the side, no where near the lady, and I was planted. The lady passes right by me, 10+ feet away from me and it occurs to me that I didn't have to move at all. She never came in my direction. Not to mention, the employee was rude to that customer too about trying things on in the store. My daughter was drinking something and the same lady snapped at her to pull her mask up. There's no sign stating that she couldn't drink inside the store. WE'RE CHRISTMAS SHOPPING. Lunch is on the go.. ease up a bit. Anyway, I came in to spend my money & "Bumblebees By the Seas" got my $$$ instead! Go there instead of Zinnias. I never leave disappointed, just minus a few dollars. There are definitely lots of unique gift items here, they just aren't things that I would ever give (or hopefully get) as a gift. You know the person with an "Everything I Needed To Know About Life I Learned From My Cat" poster? They would LOVE this store. It's just a little too, um, floral for my taste. Zinnia's is kind of a gift/homeware store: there are hand-painted wine glasses, dishware in bright colors, aprons, and soft fuzzy blankets for babies (I'm not opposed to warm, comfy babies but $60 for something they're going to spew up on? Is that what the world has come to?). The jewelry seems garish. I really like the wood furniture they have, though. All three stars for fabulous wood bookcases and cabinets. I even feel a little guilty for rating them 2 stars because it's not like they're evil or mean. I just don't like the products they carry. Sometimes yelping is more about your personal taste than it is the quality of the product or service. This is one of those times. read more

First up, this is not 'guy' store. This is a place for the ladies and gals in and out of your life to find something they like. The store is well laid out, the decore changes with the seasons and the ladies working the store are always very accommodating and helpful, especially when a guy seems to have lost his way into the store. This is my fall back stop to get an anniversary, birthday or "just because" gift for the woman in my life. I always seem to find something that hits the spot and on the very few occasions where I missed the mark, a return/exchange was a snap. Horrible experience. I used to come here all the time. This visit I waited in line for 20 mins with one cashier and when it was my turn to make my purchase she was incredibly RUDE. I got to the counter and she said "what's your name? Gift wrapping has a 15 min wait". Those were her first words to me. Weird, I hadn't even inquired yet! I then asked if I could take tissue paper to go because I was late to pick up my kids and couldn't wait for gift wrapping (I asked for no bows, cellophane or anything else, just a couple pieces of their tissue paper). She said "no, we don't just hand out tissue paper or boxes!" I'm ok with them not giving away tissue paper but the way she communicated with me was extremely rude--to the point that I considered putting my gifts back to support a better local business and now wish I did. read more

Was there a change of owner? This place has really gone down hill. I came in looking for a present for my wife and I was surprised when someone working there who I talked to was very rude, and I found out it was in fact the owner! I would not give this person my hard earned money. When I told my wife about the experience, she said most things in that store can be found on amazon.com for much cheaper anyway. (Its full of mass marketed items). If you want to support a good local business check out Bumble Bees By the Sea across town. I have been shopping here for years and can find a gift for anyone here. I did a lot of Christmas shopping at Zinnias's yesterday. The line was long ( no surprise, it was the Sunday before Christmas), but it moved quickly. While I was shopping, staff came over and asked if I needed anything gIft wrapped and also held things at the counter for me. In addition to having unique merchandise and wonderful customer service, it is the most beautiful store to visit. Walked in to check out their garden accessories they had in front of their store and walked out with a purse and a silver bracelet. I am not a big purse shopper so this one had to be unique to catch my eye. Beautiful, soft black leather, nothing fancy but a little different with its gorgeous silver hardware on the straps. While I was there, shoppers were constantly coming up to the counter and purchasing all sorts of items from baby gifts to soap to knick-knacks. Cute store indeed. read more

I absolutely love this store and have bought several gifts for friends, reletives and even myself here. By their name, Home and Garden, you would never know that they also offer the most beautiful baby gifts (books, shoes, blankets, etc.). They'll even wrap your items for you (try and even find a gift box at Macy's let alone have someone tie it with a beautiful ribbon for free). Cute store with really interesting and unique things. I love their jewerly and hair clips. They have really cute classware as well and lots of interesting things for the pet lover. I had a wonderful experience at Zinnia's in Scotts Valley. I have been looking for chairs to go with a patio table I purchased in Italy. Well, I noticed these cute chairs outside the store. This shop is always has something extraordinary - it is in a strip mall, but it is not a strip mall kind of shop and it is next door to a starbuck's but don't let that stop you. There are great one-of-a-kind finds here. I would say, don't bring your toddler, because although they have a nice chalk table to engage a child, the engagment is short lived and there are MANY breakable items that are very shiny and enticing to little people! We passed by this store after dinner and I couldn't help but pop in. I love the setup of this boutique store, where you really just don't know what you'll find! Every corner is filled with all sorts of home accessories, jewelry, and unique gifts. It's definitely a place where you'd want to shop if your looking for a gift that's more special than just a Target gift card. They have a very cute children's section with everything from clothing, shoes, and books. I truly think that I came in at the right time with all the Christmas decor. The best part? If you haven't already guessed by the name, this store has a "flowery" feel. So most of what they sell will appeal more to people who enjoy feminine items. However they do keep some masculine things in stock (and seem to have even more around Father's Day). They gift wrap, but if you get a sale item there is a fee for wrapping it. Also, budget your time accordingly. While the merchandising is lovely, it makes it tough to zip in and out quickly. Candles (for example) aren't together in one place, rather they are spread around the store according to color and/or theme. When I can spare the time, always find a gift here. But when in a hurry I usually chose to I buzz through the back room at Scarborough Gardens instead. Some things seem overpriced, but not everything. There are tons of scented candles, figurines, cards, womens' clothes, seasonal gifts, baby items and gift books. Not much of what's for sale in Zinnias is practical, but who wants a practical gift anyways? It's much better to get a gift you wouldn't buy for yourself! read more
