Rude!! I made breakfast while my husband shopped their very limited, cheap, inventory with their unprepared and unknowable staff. Post purchase of several items, the (presumably) owner pulled in and informed us that this is now a campground and we needed to move along. We had been in the, empty, parking lot for 20 minutes. In 5 years of nearly full-time van life, we have never experienced such rudeness. Glad you showed your true colors. A business to AVOID!!! Wow!! A reply. And not an apology. For example, "I'm sorry I reacted so swiftly. I should have popped in to my place of business first and learned from my staff that you two (only) folks in the parking lot are actually customers." Instead, "Heading off problems, as we had set up camp." Set up camp? Ya, we put our dog out with food and water on a rope. We saw your numerous "no dogs in store" signs. And setting up camp from 9:15-9-39 AM? Come on. Just not a good, customer first business man. Many times in various states around the country, bike/ski shops have even asked us if we would like to, "fill up our water? Or please, take your time. Need any tools? Want some MTB trail recommendations?" Not expected, but good business and really nice. Especially on a Monday morning when we are the only customers you had. You, as a business owner, represent your tourist dependent community. Your choice as to how you do so. My choice to frequent or not, recommend or not. read more

Do not go to this shop! Major ripoff prices, horrible salesmen! Asked for a pair of Keen boots the guy just walked away from me! Walked around for 10 min expecting him to check his inventory but he was too busy on his cell phone! We walked out and went to the shops at Angelfire resort! read more

They were very accommodating despite have a lot of customers in the store. Friendly staff. They kindly asked a customer to put his mask over his nose. Which was appropriate being the pandemic and the amount of customers they had in the store, which I am sure was still limited capacity. read more

If you've brought your family to Angel Fire for an incredible ski vacation, you will likely be looking for a merchant with quality products, great service, and an attitude of respect for the customer. As a hard-working consumer, you will hope that any products you buy will not break on the first run down the mountain. As a human being, you'll want to be treated with dignity and respect when you try and return a broken product to the store you bought it from. If this sounds like you, then stay far away from Mountain Sports. On the other hand - if you like to buy questionable products, and then have your character and integrity insulted when you try to return the broken ones, Mountain Sports is your store. You can buy a no-name product that looks okay in a pinch, but breaks when you actually try to use it. Mountain Sports won't stand behind the product it sold you, or refund your money. Instead you will be accused of breaking it on purpose. Seriously - even my seven-year-old understands that's "not very nice." read more

Expect no favors from the owner. We rented ski equipment from Mountain Sports during spring break when the other shops with lower prices were sold out. The staff was friendly and helpful on the day that we were there, so we did not mind paying more. We understand that the equipment was due by 6 pm the last day of the rental, but we were unable to drive from Taos back to Angel Fire in time. The parking shuttle was running late and traffic thru Taos was backed up during this busy week, which was spring break for both TX and OK. We arrived when the shop opened the next morning, but were told that we owed for an extra day, although we had no use for skis any longer. I had expected that a small business owner would be flexible and act in good faith. Instead, he was a hard-ass and referred to the contract, said that we did not call that evening, lectured us about our responsibilities, and gave us a line that the equipment could not be cleaned and rented that day, which I suspect was BS just to justify the hard line about the return. He had told other customers that if an item that they wanted was not available, that they could check back to see if it was returned, so it did not appear that the turnaround time was that long. Plus, between 6 pm the previous evening and the next morning, I doubt much was cleaned, judging from the pile of items behind the counter. Lastly, after the customer before me had left the store, who had inquired about a refund, the owner mocked him for asking. There are cheaper shops to rent from closer to the ski area, perhaps with more courtesy and respect for their customers. read more

So i bought 2013 boots so clearly not "new" and the lady i spoke to was talking about me behind my back before i even left the shop (so clearly not polite). All i was looking for was good costumer service and the service here was nowhere near par. I was not looking for money back all i wanted was a different size in the same boots. We rented skis here and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful! Very patient, kind, and gave us good tips for our stay. While we were there, another family came in who had trouble with ski bindings fitting correctly and they were so accommodating and kind and even credited him time. Really friendly staff, free coffee and cocoa, good snowboard rental prices. There are all kinds of gear for purchase, though a little expensive, as expected for a shop a few blocks from the ski resort. High quality gear and quick service, highly recommended. read more

Great shop best ski techs in the north!

We rented 13 mountain bikes for 9 Boy Scouts and 4 adults to bike in the area. All of us have ridden on mountain bikes before and one adult was an experienced biker who repairs his own bike and goes on multi-day rides. The bikes we rented were in flawed mechanical condition or had not been tuned. The front wheel came loose during our ride on two of the bikes. The rear wheel fell off on another bike. The front shifter didn't work on another. Almost every bike had a mechanical problem. When we returned the bikes, we got no apology or offer of a refund (we weren't seeking one but an offer would have been nice). What we got was accusations that we were exaggerating the problem. The store rep denied that the rear wheel could have come lose because it would have caused the chain to break. Well, it did come off but the bike crashed before the chain broke. Luckily the boys only ended up with scrapes and bruises and nothing worse. Poor customer service combined with poor equipment. read more

Worst experience. We will never come back and recommend nobody should go there. Initially when we setup the ski at the store, the guy swapped my wife boots with my daughters subsequently they did not adjust the ski to fit the boots. When we went up the hills and ready for ski then we found out the boots do not fit the ski. My wife had to walk down to get help from some nice people at nearby store. (Mountain Sports store is at 1.5miles away, imagining you are wearing the heavy snow ski boots). That is bad experience to begin with. When we return the equipment, the store owner (probably the same guy who forgot the check boots/ski for my wife) is very picky on the equipment status and check very details about them. With his picky eyes, he found a 0.5inch width and 2inch length scratch on my daughter's snow ski board, who is intermediate/not heavy user. Ok, after all, we did not do any pre-inspection for this so I am ok to render $25 for his claimed repair cost. While I am heading to cashier, I heard this guy is arguing in angry voice with my wife saying that he did adjust our boots and he did not know what happened to the boots and said 1.5miles is not very far. This is absolutely outrages. A business owner does not make sense out of his words and argue with a lady who brought him lots of customers. Why the hell we adjust our boots ourselves to begin with? If it is good fit, we will start ski right away? We brought this store with 7 families customers and ended up with frustration. Recommend nobody shall visit this store. Absolutely poorest experience with my 5times visit at beloved Angel Fire snow resort. read more

Our family has a second home in angel fire. We rent ski equipment from mountain sports every time we come to ski. We also frequent the store in the summer. We have never had an issue with any item rented/purchased here, and have been treated with complete respect. We will continue to use mountain sports whenever we visit. A little advise: rent your equipment online. You save money and everything is ready for fitting when you arrive. read more

My family and friends meet in Angel fire every year to ski and snowboard and for the last 5 years we have rented our ski equipment from Mountain sports but unfortunately this year will be the last time we rent from Mountain Sports. This year I rented the best boots and skis they had, as I always do, the staff was friendly and helpful but after skiing for half a day, the boots that they gave me were hurting my feet so instead of loading the skis up an taking them back to Mountain Sports I just rented some boots/skis from the ski resort which felt great. That evening I took the boots and skis back to get a refund for the day that I did not use them and then they informed me that they would not give me a refund. I ask for the supervisor and the owner, Brent came out and said that I should have brought them back and exchanged them. I explained to Brent that the reason that I did not bring them back and exchange them was that it would have been a hassle for me to load them up and bring them back and I that I rented the best that they had, therefore, I would not have gotten anything better. I told him that I wasn't asking for the money back for the day that I used them, only the day that I did not use them. Brent still refused to give me a refund. I ask him if $30 (the amount that the refund would have been) was worth loosing $400 to $500 dollars a year (the amount that my family and friends spend). Brent didn't seem to care so I told him when I bring my wife's snowboard back the next day, that would be the last day me, my family and friends would step foot in his store. read more
