This all could have been avoided if they were up front about their cancellation policy instead of just dropping it on you after you've already made a deposit.

It's very easy to find and within reasonable walking distance to many of the local stores and eateries of Kernville. I'm not typically one to stay in my room all day although the nice AC makes it tempting. We were able to go up to the mountains the entire day and come back and jump in the pool at Whispering Pines. The pool is very clean with a gorgeous unobstructed view of the mountains. The front office staff were very kind and friendly and quickly checked us in to our room. We stayed in room #103 which is very cozy with a kitchenette. The room was nice and clean and we even had a deck out the back door to look and listen to nature. There's no real designated parking spots for individual rooms so it's first come, first served. It gets very hot in Kernville so I would highly suggest parking in the few precious spots in front of the pool fence which give more shade throughout the day. The beautiful surroundings and the inn had a charming, vintage, and cozy touch that made us excited to stay. The owner greeted us warmly, and we appreciated the hospitality after driving all day from San Diego. The room was beautifully decorated, and the bed was extremely comfortable. We were able to take an evening swim before settling down for the night. When we woke up, we had breakfast right outside our room in a lovely setup with a garden atmosphere. I appreciated that they accommodated my diet and were more than happy to substitute food options to make me feel welcome. My husband and I decided right then and there that we'd be back for another stay and hopefully a longer one. I'd definitely recommend this place for a nice getaway from the city to relax and unwind. And if you're interested in the history of the area, Monica (a fourth generation resident), is a fountain of knowledge... and one of the sweetest people you could ever hope to meet. My wife and I were looking for a unique, relaxing get away, and Wicky-Up delivered just that... it was perfect: charming decor, delightful conversations with Monica and Jack, delicious fruit fresh from their farm... and Sweet Pea- an incredibly friendly pup who will literally lead you on a beautiful, relaxing walk through the almost endless rows of orange trees. Bottled water, and other treats were also available. There is a resident, skunk named 'Princess', who pals around with the local cats at night.
