Stayed the weekend with our family of 6 in the King room. Was very close to the entrance of the park, Bass Lake and tons of trails and sites for us to see. Our room came complete with a full kitchen and decent sized fridge for the weekend. Owner was very helpful to our needs and staff was on call for everything. For around $50, a night, before taxes, this was a bargain, we were able to add an additional night then we originally planned on. Also, it was winter and Yosemite had received an abundance of snow the day before. The drive to Yosemite was easy from there. It served its purpose to sleep and shower, the mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker were a plus, after an eventful day in Yosemite. The beds were not better or like home, but they didn't give me a back ache. It was private and peaceful, which sometimes you don't get in a pricey place. It had that feeling of staying in the mountains instead of in the city or town. So why didn't I give it 5 stars, minor things, white towels in need of bleach, maybe some throw rugs, and a shower caddy. However, I'd be back read more

I hate staying in hotels wether it's Hampton or motel 6 ( there's no place like home or someone else home) I was anxious our whole drive here about the hotel. Trust the negative reviews and do not book with this "property". What they advertise is far from reality. We booked a room in August and cancelled before the deadline. We ended up booking a three night stay at Tenaya where my daughter was working for the summer. Problems started on our drive to Oakhurst when my bank called to inform me that they froze my debit card due to suspicion of fraud on the part of Mountain Trail Lodge. Called two numbers and was ignored. Stopped by the property and no one was there to help. I did witness a scroungy guy pull up in a Scion who got out and dumped pillow cases full of laundry onto the ground. This should confirm the complaints about filthy sheets and towels. More calls made to "Kevin" and "Gil" (not their real names), who are actually in Michigan. Finally it was stated they would not dispute my refund, I would get my money back. Fast forward over three months and I am stuck trying to get my money back from Booking dot com which is a total scam. Honestly I thought I was booking thru the property but that was not the case. We never stayed at the property but we have seen it. I feel sorry for those who did and had a bad experience. Those who claim to have had a great experience are either lying or they got one of the nicer off site properties. Regardless, this family should not be in business. The town of Oakhurst should shut them down. We collectively need to come together and file a class action suit. I am out almost $500. Others are waiting for much more to be refunded. Please avoid this property. And book directly thru any future hotel choices. Never use a booking site. We've been lucky up to now but honestly saving a few dollars is not worth this trouble. read more

The best at this hotel was the view. It overlooks the mountains and it was lovely to get up to in the morning. We were on a roadtrip for three weeks and this was the most expensive hotel we satyed at and we were very dissapointed. Nothing good to say about the rooms. The clerk was friendly but in the rush to close the door and go home. They offered free wifi, but the internet did not work, so my son and daughter-in-law had to drive our car up to the office and sit in the cold car freezing in the middle of the night to be able to get internet. My son had an important online exam that he just could not miss. So all in all, it was just an ok hotel, nothing else. read more

It's not bad if you're in a pinch. The staff is very friendly and helpful but that's about all that's going for this place, I think. We stayed in room 7 which is right next to the office. The room is incredibly small. There is nowhere to put your things during your stay. The bathroom sink is slow to drain. The coffee pot in the room looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages. Actually, the room wasn't very clean at all. We arrived around 10:30 pm and had to ask the man at the front desk to please clean the bathroom. He's was very nice and did so without hesitation. This "hotel" doesn't earn any star. It's more like indoor camping. Our "luck" was that we had a big room with kitchenette for a 200$ per night. So we had enough place for all the four of us - we met another family in a such a tiny room that they had to keep all their luggage in the car!!! A main issue are the sanitary installations: the shower in the bathroom was the cheapest and most broken thing I ever met, and there was no lavabo on the bathroom. You had to go to the kitchenette to clean your hands. Besides it wasn't very clean at all. However: I would go again but only for 30$ per night for this room. read more

uh -- I never stayed at this place -- not after I was scammed while making a reservation. In searching for "pet friendly" hotels, I found a common $99 rate for Mountain Trail Lodge listed online. I booked through Hotels.com. But when I printed out the invoice, the rate had more than doubled to $276.39. I called Hotels.com within minutes of the reservation to dispute the bill, and request a cancellation. The representative informed me the charge broke down into room rate + hotel tax + an undefined service charge by the hotel. This surcharge had not been described in any of the lodge's online pages, nor in the Hotel.com information. It was a hidden charge. Unfortunately for me, the reservation was advertised as non-refundable. Hotels.com contacted the manager of Mountain Trail Lodge, who refused to refund the surcharge, let alone the full amount. I asked to speak with a manager at Hotels.com, who called the lodge manager a second time and got the same response. By the time I called my credit card customer service, two charges had posted: $298.59 and $122.00 WTF!?! Now, I'm up to more than 4x the originally listed rate. I am reluctant to give this hotel even 1 star. Let me begin by saying absolutely repulsive. DO NOT! Not only is the staff unprofessional and unaccommodating, but when a problem arises they will disregard any complaints. The bed had several white stains on the comforter, as did the couch. The sheets as well had scattered yellow stains and hair within the sheets. I am certainly convinced that the sheets are not cleaned between visits. Also found and small white bug crawling on my arm when on the bed, surely lice/bed bug. The water smelled and would not drain properly. It is safe to say I was all around unsatisfied. Especially for $130 dollars a night!!! When I expressed my concerns to the office upfront, they assured me that the manager would get involved and contact me. I still have yet to hear from this manager. Rather I was only momentarily pacified until I could be rushed out the door. I do not stay in high end hotels or compare my experiences to prior five star accommodations, rather to what is reasonable. What a Super 8 might even offer. Do yourself a favor, even if there are no rooms left in the town, keep driving through and find another hotel! AVOID the same experience of linen disinfectant and trash bags being laid on the bed to avoid contact with the sheets. I left with all my clothes in garbage bags to avoid spreading any other bugs in the car. read more

This place is completely disgusting! Blood stained pillows. Soiled mattress with urine and dried blood, dirt build up on the toilet seat, detached head board and holes in the wall. Need I say more??? After reading the other reviews, I'm not sure why I'm even writing a review other than we had stayed here before and I feel obligated to say something. The water is hideous tasting and even after running through the coffee maker, was undrinkable. The Room, Apparently recently remodeled, though small and a very tight space, still looked nice. There was a very small stain on the quilt on one of the beds though I didn't analyze the whole bed to determine if bugs were present. There were two pictures in the room, both identical? Really? Who ever thought this was a good idea, is twisted. Parking is a joke. No marked spaces left many guests guessing where to park. One night we got a good spot, the next, not so good. The Water, Cleanliness and parking all add up to serious problems. I hope the owners finish the remodel and address these issues immediately. Otherwise, it's curtains for you. read more

If none stars would be possible I would give none. We came at 2300. Nobody was at the desk. We followed the instruction and knocked to the RV for 30 minutes. The light came on but nobody came out. There was no reception, so we drove down the road and called the number they provided. A person with a very thick accent answered and told us we have to knock on the door. He was unable to understand that we already did that. I asked him to come to the front desk and let us in but he wasn't at the property and the person who works there wouldn't answer her phone. 15 minutes later Teresa called us and started yelling that we should have knocked on her trailer. I told her that we spent 30 minutes outside of the trailer knocking. She said she didn't hear it and we are lying. She added few more profanities to that and hung up. We called the owner to inform him how his employee is behaving and he told us that we were on drugs. Never apologized and said "get the f.. out of here if you don't like it". Stayed 1 night last week. Room 4 had a toilet leaking water from its base onto the bathroom floor. Management seemed like they knew about it. They moved us to Room 11. Toilet also leaked onto the floor, but a lot less. Bedspread stained. 3 out of 6 lightbulbs worked. Table lamp falling apart. Headboard to bed not attached. Towel rack in bathroom coming out of wall. Cable for the TV had been sliced, it was hand-spliced back together, TV did not work. Other than that, it was great :-) read more

So, I am disappointed to review that while we enjoyed our stay here, my sister-in-law got bed bug bites. We read a previous review that reported bed bugs and thought because the review was written months ago that the issue would've been resolved. We initially thought it was mosquito bites, but concluded with the multiple clusters on her left arm that it was indeed bed bugs She was the only one that got bit, because the rest of us used long sleeves. I'm upset, because I really wanted to like this place and gave it the benefit of the doubt taking our chances at a budget lodge. I hope the owners read the reviews and do something about this. Of course, bugs migrate from the outside and I understand that it could happen at any hotel...But a thorough cleaning of hotel linen and furniture is a must to avoid contractions like this. We stayed here 2 nights in different rooms. Stayed in a double queen room one night, went to Yosemite and stayed, then stayed in the "bunk bed" room the last night. The first night was awesome- 5 stars. Room was nice, clean, beds were cozy, great view, GREAT rate. $60 for a Thursday. Then when we came back- the experience was... interesting. The room was pretty cool. A full bed on the bottom, a single on top, and then a loft to the side of the top with another full mattress. However, the bathroom smelled really weird for no apparent reason, there was an electrical socket extremely close to the shower where the water splashed on to it, and the walls were very thin- to where you could hear the people on the other side of the wall yelling. That experience was 3 stars- giving an average of 4. Really good rates, if you just want a place to crash it was perfect. read more

Needed a place close to Yosemite after spending the day there, and this was about 20 minutes from the South entrance, so we stayed for one night. The reviews make it sound like the Bates Motel, but this place is actually really nice inside...probably because it was just recently renovated. The beds and hardwood floor (new trend? I guess easier to clean than carpet) look really new, and I didn't experience any bug issues. Rooms are tiny; five people in a two queen bed room means very little wiggle room, and opening the bathroom door all the way is nearly impossible. At least there's a sofa pullout bed inside for your fifth body. The shower has no ledge to place your toiletries, so be prepared to either lean them on the adjacent sink for use or sitting them on the floor of the shower. The desk person was nice, but I had to retrieve her from one of the trailers behind the motel (perhaps staff live there?) when I went to try to check-in. I guess she was on break. The Lodge has an ice machine, and you can park in front of whichever room you're staying at. Nice view of the mountains in the back, which you can see from the front of your room (few chairs in front too). The manager even matched the Priceline price I was going to book with to encourage me to book directly through the motel so they wouldn't have to pay a transaction fee. Overall, I'd be back if I was in the Yosemite area. Free WifI too. read more

No, just no. Seriously the worst, dirtiest, most run down, and downright disgusting "hotel" I have ever seen. It was so bad we turned right around and left, happily driving another hour and a half to Merced to stay at the Hampton Inn. This place was awful - everything is dirty and broken. The rooms are actually small cabins that look like they haven't ever been kept up or cleaned. Or that maybe would be an ideal place for a murder or kidnapping - it's that bad. The bathroom was the size of a closet with a slow trickle of water coming out of rusty spout. The bed was awful - so uncomfortable with musty smelling linens. I was so busy leaving abruptly I didn't snap any pictures but I wish I had. This place is not a hidden gem, it's not a diamond in the rough, it's horrible. One star is generous in my opinion. The price might seem right but it's not worth it. Keep driving and don't stop. read more

My adult daughter and I travelled to Oakhurst to look at real estate and booked through Booking.com. We found dozens of bugs in our bed and left the room immediately. But it took an hour to find someone to check us out. We have travelled extensively. I was a bit late and had to take what was available when I booked as most of the hotels were full. Absolutely a NO! Bug bites everywhere on our bodies from the beds. No mattress pads on beds just thin and worn nubby sheets. Beds were old and so uncomfortable. They never changed the sheets, just threw the bed together. Shower curtain had pink mold. Lights all around hotel very bright and stayed on all night. The floors were filthy. Manager no where to be found after initial check in. Wifi barely serviceable. Worst $419 for three night stay ever. We stayed at the Deer Haven Cabin, part of the Mountain Trail Lodge's holdings. It was a gorgeous little loft cabin with two nice sized decks. We got in very late, so the owners let us check in via phone, and just had us stop by the next day at the lodge to sign the paperwork. For the price, this was far beyond what we expected. Comfortable beds, bright and airy, and very clean. When we stopped by the hotel area to check it, they had some maintenance on one of the roofs being done. Mid day, and it shows that they are committed to keeping the place in good order. The hotel has little cabin rooms with windows that overlook the foothills outside. The owner was very pleasant and helpful, and really wanted to make sure that everything was to our liking.....if there is a problem, he wants to know so he can make it right. We will definitely be back to the Mountain Trail Lodge. read more

This place is clean and better than expected. We rented for our first family vacation to Yosemite. The location was perfect kind of loud at nights but can only be heard when you are out in the patio section. The place is small but very cozy and our kids loved it. The price was definitely great and they have a pool that is perfect for the summer trip. I would stay here again for the price. 0 stars from the jump and I didn't even stay here. This became the worst place to stay at when they charge me for a room i cancelled and then claim it's nonrefundable because thats their policy. The manager is far beyond rude i called to try to even get a parcial refund and he hung up the phone on me without any explanation they claim great customer service and don't hit 1%. They are truly the worst bunch you can find. Greedy uneducated and ignorant when it comes to handling business. They type of trash that will do anything to keep the money and then blame anyone else. I do not recommend this place or it's management. I know time are tough but scamming people out of their money for canceled reservation that claim 0 cancellation fee. This is unethical on so many levels and them they claim to be the ones who are taken back because they can see you did cancel but stating no refund even when i have prof i canceled before the deadline. I recommend you spend those extra 75 on a nicer hotel or cabin because these people are not even a fraction of polite or educated people. read more

Negative: The worst place I've ever stayed! So basically all I really wanted with this reservation was a bed... that's all I got! This place was so outdated and dingy. The bathroom was the dirtiest part of the room. There was a gap under the door so it let in a lot of hot air. There were paint peelings and scrapes on the walls. The couch had tears in the cushions. The baseboards were so dirty. There wasn't a rug inside the room ( wood flooring) so the floor got dirty fast from tracking in dirt from outside. Those were the only perks. I brushed my teeth in the sink and the water gushed out the bottom of the sink! There wasn't a curtain over the single small window so we had to use one towel to cover the broken blinds. It looks like the room was part of another room and a wall was made to close it off. We didn't mind the "smallness" of the room but the lack of privacy was ridiculous. If you didn't lock the top bolt the bottom lock wouldn't keep the door closed. The shower head was outdated but had good floor. It didn't get very hot though. Positive: The bed was nice. The tv worked fine. The WiFi was fast. Theresa was nice and came from an RV behind the office. The office was pretty old and rundown. Checkin was prompt. The place was full so that says something for the rest of the place but the pictures online don't do it justice. ***If you just want a bed for the night, this room will work for you...just don't expect anything else. read more

Some serious maintance issues in one of the vacation homes on east Road 426 where we stayed. We are giving this 2 stars instead of 1, because the house itself was nice -- a lot nicer than the hotel on north Hwy. 41 looked. But inside the home, we noticed a lack of basic items that are typically provided, as well as MANY maintenance issues. It is fair to say that the owners are NOT up to the task, as how the maintenance was handled (or should I say, not handled), was a complete joke. See below for the laundry list: 1. The kitchen in this home did not have: a. Paper towels b. Dishwasher soap c. Liquid soap d. Knives 2. Switch for dining room table light did not work. We initially thought that all 4 light bulbs in the fixture did not work and asked if they could deliver and install the bulbs (see #4). We ate our meals mostly in the dark. 3. Light (14 W) in laundry room did not work. 4. Three 23W Light bulbs (for the four lights bulbs for the dining room table light) were simply delivered to our doorstep, with no offer to install them. 5.. Closet on bedroom did NOT have a rod for hanging clothes. A shorter rod that did not fit was laid to the side of the closet. 6. liquid soap was never delivered. Said "they did not have it". Are you kidding me???? Get your lazy selves to CVS, or the dollar store, and stock up on this and other items! 7. In the BR, One electric outlet did not work; when trying to use another one, the plug fell out of EACH hole. 8. Outlet in bathroom not working 9, washer cold and hot water switch did not put out the proper temperature 10. Dishwasher did not close properly 11. A swimming pool was advertised, but there was no water in it, and looked as if it had not been maintained in years. 12. When calling their number, nobody ever answers - you'll always need to leave a message. They do return calls eventually. read more

We just spent two nights at this location and to say it was disappointing would be an understatement. When we made reservations pictures were provided of the room which was confirmed, the actual room was nothing like the room, yes it had two queen beds but no chair or sofa, the refrigerator was installed correctly, lights didn't work including the lamp between the beds (no bulb and switch was broken) we had to ask for towels. The coffee maker was very low end and leaked, the toilet leaked, no mats to wipe feet, no closet to hang clothes, no place to put anything in the bathroom, the shower was small, and the WIFI wasn't anything to brag about. It was a long weekend so not many places available. The only positive thing I could say about this place was the bed was comfortable and it was fairly close to shopping and restaurants. We had a choice between room 4 or 5, the guy said room 4 was nicer, doesn't say much for room 5. Won't even consider this place again, if you have a choice don't choose this place. Our room was so cool. It was big, it had a great stove for heating. We had a great time. The kitchen was well stocked, and clean. Give them time to renovate. It was a great experience. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!! We went into the normal houses outside office and at first, we thought it was alright until we really looked... For one, there was a rock holding up the bed where a wheel should be. The beds were "made" but not neat at all. Went into the bathroom and and it was all dirty and the only towel was wet from a dripping shower head. We complained and were moved to a house and that was only slightly better. When we entered it smelled musty but we were willing to give it a try.... Until we checked everything. We looked at the counters and there was ants all over it and sesame seeds. This hotel has major false advertising issues. The hotel for one is filthy, ripped couch, bugs in the sink, mold all over the shower and the owner is very inappropriate and unprofessional. My family and I booked a vacation together for the 4th of July at this place. My in laws booked a cabin and my husband and I booked just a room. In the advertisement they show the same pictures and address so we thought we would be somewhat close to each other so we could cook in the cabin as the hotel room has no where to cook and I have 2 children who have to eat. When we checked in I asked for a receipt & the lady at the front desk told me should couldn't give me one and that I could just look at my bank statement for the total and I told her that was unacceptable but there was nothing she could do. We set our belongings inside the door and left to go help our in laws unpack unknowing that the cabin was 14 miles away from our room. Once we arrived I called the owner and told him we were supposed to be close and that his hotel had a false advertisement and he proceeded to cuss me out and told me to get my ***** out of his room so we turned around and drove 14 miles back to the hotel to get our " ***** out of his room and when we arrived I went back in the office to talk to the front desk lady and he called her while I was standing there yelling at her making sure we were getting off his property and I stated to her I wanted a refund as we were not staying here nor were we allowed to and she said I cant give you a refund and the owner ins't here. I called the owner and he told me to ***** off and that he was keeping my money no matter what. I tried to reason with the gentleman and he wanted nothing to do with trying to solve the situation or make things right. I've tried reaching him several times since that day and he hangs up on me and my husband every time. I hope he doesn't get the chance to take advantage of anyone else again! Horrible dirty hotel. I spent two nights in room #7 with my husband and a kid, The floor and bath towels were ditry so should clean it up first to let my 1 y.o. baby came into the room.
