Came here planning to try a flight and have a glass, and ended up staying for dinner and dessert. Besides the refreshing wine menu, the service was something that stood out. All of the staff went above and beyond to be super friendly and inviting. It felt like my husband and I were regulars the way the wait staff treated us. You could tell they treat every customer as if they're the only person in the winery, despite it being full. Every question we had was met with patience as they guided us on the best food and wine pairing. They also are super accommodating to pets, and were able to enjoy a nice meal with our pup. The food was all fresh and delicious. Everything tasted like it was made from the heart. My husband got the angel hair pasta with chicken, a favorite of his, and it did not disappoint! I got the brown butter sage gnocchi, made with fresh sage from their garden. We also enjoyed the meze board. My husband who does not like falafel was fighting with me for the last piece. For dessert I ate the rosemary shortbread with lemon curd. Just like with the sage the rosemary was also freshly picked from their garden. The shortbread was not too dry but also the perfect ratio of crispy on the outside and slightly moist on the inside - the exact way shortbread should be baked. I normally am picky with lemon desserts, but their lemon curd was also perfect - not too sweet and not too sour while still maintaining that fresh flavor. My biggest regret of our visit is not booking a room at their inn. We spent a couple of hours here and immediately felt right at home. Idle Hour Winery & Kitchen is an absolute knockout in food & atmosphere. The restaurant is open five days a week with lunch & dinner service Wednesday-Saturday & offers brunch on Sunday. I always opt to sit outside where I can basque in the mountain sunshine while taking in the scenery. There's always a cat or two traipsing about the establishment that offers entertainment to my pooch. (Yes, they're dog-friendly!) The food is absolutely divine with I believe most of the items being made in house & all ingredients are locally sourced with the freshest ingredients. Idle Hour is a stop you definitely want to make whether passing through on your way to Yosemite or if you're a local, make no mistake and try this place out! read more

The food was amazing! My daughters loved the chicken piccata, my wife loved the artichoke salad. I loved the mahi mahi and shrimp sauté. The staff were wonderful and friendly!!! There was a band playing in their courtyard. The restaurant section had nice music playing. We will be coming back here again. We found this little gem on the side of the road while vacationing at Oakhurst. I was craving charchuterie board and this place had it so we decided to visit it. The 2 ladies who ran the place were super nice at the small, home like restaurant. Turned out, one of them is from Portugal and she is an actual wine maker, who selling her wine there pairing with delicious food. I ordered the charchuterie board, which was amazing and my fiancee ordered a panini and a soup. Everything tasted soo good! Plus I love those places, where the owner taking the time to come out, have a little talk with the guests, turning a simple dinner to a homey, friendly place. Oh and they have a restaurant cat, who just walks around and saying hi to everyone. Of we visit Oakhurst again, we will definitely go back there! Definitely a must stop when visiting oakhurst! This place is tucked away but Apple Maps took us there. The wine was so good and while sitting outside you can see where some of it was grown. The service was speedy and I really enjoy trying all the different wines they offer. The flight in my picture was enough for all 3 adults to share and try! We stopped by today after hitting Yosemite with a large group of adults and little children. The waitress was extremely helpful and welcoming. We are used to many places not liking that we had many kids in our party but they gave them coloring mats and crayons and were very kind to us. I ordered the Honey and Pear salad to share and the wagyu ribeye. We split 3 bottles of wine and our fav was the pet nat wine. The kids enjoyed pizza and pasta. Even after they had been snacking all day on the hike, they still found some room to wolf it down. And the cat stopped by to say hi to us. We stopped here for lunch while enjoying the Sierra Art Trail. All that art can make you hungry! We were greeted by friendly staff and chose to sit outside as the weather was good. We tried the charcuterie board and margherita flatbread to share, plus I also had the mushroom sherry soup. I ordered the chicken piccata and it was terrible. It was served on a tiny plate with hardly any sauce, and it had no flavor at all. No presentation, just a tiny little chicken breast, a tiny bit of sauce, a few capers and some bland orzo. It made me think it was a frozen dinner that was heated in the microwave and placed on a little plate. Once we got our bill I realized I was given the lunch version. I didn't know I had to specify that I wanted the dinner. It was after 6 p.m. My husband couldn't finish his mushroom sherry soup, he said it tasted weird. The patio had random junk, empty propane tanks, dirt and leaves, an old barstool with a little speaker on it, etc. If you're charging that much for food and wine, you should put a little more effort into things. What we got was not at all what I saw on social media. I wish we could say we will be back, but we will not be returning. read more

Charming little winery and kitchen near Yosemite's South entrance. This was a great way to begin our trip to Yosemite. Stayed in Oakhurst for the first time since we were traveling from CA instead of NV. The location is surrounded by nature and visiting in late October offered the perfect outdoor experience. Did a wine tasting and ordered some food among the trees. We shared some amazing wild mushroom and sherry soup, burrata with local blistered tomatoes, and baked Camembert with golden raisin compote and honey. Everything was great and loved all the local ingredient's. We even had the cutest little black kitty come join us at our table and it was the highlight of an already fab afternoon. read more

We came here to unwind and have a great meal after a long day at Yosemite, and everything we ordered was below average in quality and overly priced. Being from out of town to visit Yosemite, it's often your best guess that lands you a place to eat. I'm so chuffed we found Idle Hour; the first night we had a bottle of cava, but after seeing the menu, went back for dinner. The food was really exceptional, the people working were great, which really added to the experience. I'm envious that locals to Oakhurst have this at their disposal. Small winery on the way to Yosemite's south side entrance. We stopped here after a brief visit to the nearby Bass Lake for their wine tasting. The wine selection was good (favorite was the red blend) but the charcuterie board was absolutely amazing (the blue cheese they serve + jam was delicious - and this is coming from someone who typically doesn't like blue cheese). Staff were super friendly and they allow dogs inside which is fantastic on a cold day. Definitely stop by for a sip and a bite. read more

I visited this spot last weekend and came in Saturday night. Officially my favorite place to eat in the Yosemite area! I'll never forget how delicious that steak was. There was one employee and she was hustling the entire restaurant by herself and it was full! She did amazing, I hope she is there when we come back. read more

Pretty unique food & surprising extremely tasty and boujee for Oakhurst lol. I have eaten here many times and every time was as good as before. If you're a tourist definitely stop in and try a bite to eat it's pretty good. This place is the only other place in this town that's not a burger, pizza, Mexican food, or bbq and has pretty healthy options including the wine lol. For tourist rolling through this place is more of like a nice place to take someone enjoy a bottle of red and then head back to cabin for some exercise. It's honestly nestled in by a creek and you have to pay attention or you will miss it but once you're there it's pretty cool. It's also a small little bed and breakfast which if your a couple bottles deep then you can just stay the night. Anyways good experience and look forward to coming back. read more

On our way to start our Yosemite vacation for our 30th anniversary, we found this little gem. Idle Hour is a quaint, cozy wine tasting spot. We popped in and the server suggested a tasting for each of us, 5 wines each. All quite tasty. We also got some house made bread and dipping oil that was delicious. The kitties on the property made for some sweet viewing. They are also DOG FRIENDLY! I picked up some Christmas gifts, as they have a little gift shop with locally made products, balsamic glazes, jams, wines, etc. Such a nice spot! read more

Great little find in Oakhurst! Make sure to drive down the driveway towards the Queen's Inn and you'll find it. You can do wine tasting until 5:00 pm and then the dinner service starts. For $12 you can sample around 6-8 wines. If you check in with Yelp (as of December 2022) you can get 2-for-1 tastings. The cute interior has a wine bar area as well as an area to buy gifts. I had the burrata and focaccia to have with my wine and enjoyed talking with the wine maker. I would say my favorite was the Malbec. Would definitely drop by the next time I am in the area! read more

Came here with my son, husband and puppies. The service was really great! We travel with our dogs and we try not to leave them in the room and include them on our outings. It happened to be raining when we went and they allowed us to come inside with our dogs. That was so nice of them to accommodate us. They even brought our dogs water. They were so grateful too! We ordered the margarita pizza, charcuterie board and shrimp appetizers. Everything was so tasty! I had ordered a glass of their Cabernet and it was so good I had to order a bottle to go! What a cute winery and kitchen! We enjoyed some food with our tasting and were very pleased to bump into some other wine tasters that we met at another winery. Since we're traveling we had to be very selective about how much we could buy to take home and decided on the Cuvée rouge. We enjoyed a bite to eat of their award winning chili and the mushroom with sherry soup. We also got rustica bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and a Turkey pesto melt panini which were also very delicious! While doing our tasting with Jen, we met Anna the winemaker and enjoyed chatting with them in between our tastings. It was also so nice to hear the sound of the tape gun as they were also packing of an epic release for shipments to their wine club members.
