We stayed at High Sierra RV Park February 16-19 (Presidents Weekend). We arrived late, so our reservation info was taped up on the office door. We stayed in back-in, FHU site 42 which is in the only row of 50 Amp sites, which are near the entrance. The site was completely level! The electric, water and sewer connections worked as expected and were well placed. There is absolutely NO WiFi. AT&T, Verizon and TMobile cellular had full bars throughout the park. Cable is available, but all I could get was Telemundo. The sites were roomy enough. The 30amp FHU sites farther inside the park appeared roomier though. They also back up to the rivers edge. The Fresno River runs along the length of the park and at this time of year, there are multiple waterfalls that create very relaxing white noise. The campground was very quiet and easy to relax in. The office is well stocked with all the RV essentials and Katie the manager, was very helpful and friendly. The maintenance guy was super helpful and answered all my questions throughout the day. There is some room for the kids to ride bikes and there are two rarely used horseshoe pits. The park is dated and needs some TLC, but it is in Oakhurst, on the Fresno River, and near the southern entrance to Yosemite. The rustic feel is very nice. I would stay again when in the area. read more

We spent 4 nights at this campground and were very disgruntled with the entire setup. On our arrival shortly after noon, the office was closed and information was taped to the window. Many questions were unable to be answered. There was no WiFi and the sites were so narrow that we could not extend our awning completely. Our neighbor was only able to put his awning out partway until it was within 3 inches of our couch. My sewer connection was in his front yard and the neighbor on the other side was in our front yard. The "full stocked camping and RV store" was a laugh. It consisted mostly of candy and ice cream. There was no clubhouse. All in all, not a pleasant experience. I would not stay here again. read more

The staff was not too friendly, the rv sites were too close to each other and you can smell the sewage, which was not pleasant.

Fraudulent business practices. I made a campsite reservation, later changed the dates, and ultimately had to cancel. The cancellation was made both by phone and email more than 7 days before the scheduled arrival date. I understand and accepted the $5 reservation change fee and the $10 cancellation fee outlined in their policy. However, instead of refunding the remaining balance, they kept the entire amount and issued no refund whatsoever. As a result, I have initiated a credit card dispute. I would strongly recommend reviewing their cancellation policies and billing practices carefully before booking. read more

very basic. However the water hole in the back next to the lagoon type place takes it up a star. No amenities. No frills. the water is great if you don't go in the water because they have families coming from the other side outside of the rv park bathing themselves in the fresh water which is gross. Plus some long term rvs are held together with duct tape. Fingers crossed.checking in for one night only. Update: was up from 1 to 5 with bass techno music coming from a very nasty rv and guy we did not want to tangle with so we pulled out in the dark. I do not recommend this place. read more

The not so good: Goat heads, FoxTails, and some other type of pokey sticker plant. No hooks in the shower area. Only 2 showers in women's for the entire campsite. Double check which sites have full service hook ups. We stayed for two weeks in October. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The sites are pretty tight, especially the ones up front for longer RV's and 50 amp. The laundry facilities were nice and clean, but a little confusing at first with the Wash card. We liked the location to Yosemite and Bass Lake. But.....we had a steady stream of tiny ants coming in. It was gross. We bought a lot of ant spray and ant traps, but they were swarming the trees next to our RV and marching up our water and sewer hoses. The spray did help. read more

First off, if you're planning a trip to Yosemite - good luck trying to get a site there. This is where you want to be. It was my first time going out to check out Yosemite and needed a campsite in a crunch. I called over to see if any availability was open for my weekend, to which they did - and right by the river too! And when I say right by the river, I mean literally 6 steps from my campsite. Checking in: 10/10 Checking in was a breeze, Katy which whom helped me make my reservation greeted me right away and provided a map of the property and offered me and my girlfriend plentiful options for activities nearby, she also told us the best times to go to Yosemite to beat the crowds which was a blessing, especially during the Summer! Campsite Cleanliness: 10/10 Our campsite was very clean upon arrival it was almost as if our whole site was raked before showing up. And I mean the view we had was just amazing! (if available I'd ask for campsite 12/13) We had power (household 120v, I believe) and water! I had brought my own water supply because I have been to other campsites with no running water (awful) but was amazed at the water and water pressure provided at our site! There was a shared trash bin between my site and my neighbor which was nice because again, I had brought my own due to previous experiences at other camp sites. We had a full bench and table which could easily fit 8-10 people. No spider webs - I usually look for these at sites! Restrooms and Showers: 10/10 So I am a real stickler when it comes to the restrooms at sites, but seriously it was almost as if the staff would clean the restroom after literally everyone. Spotless and smelled really good! there was always hand soap, hand air dryer worked, toilet and urinal in the Men's restroom - brilliant! My girlfriend said the exact same about the women's restrooms. The showers were really clean, I'm usually hesitant to shower at campsites but this place knocked it out the park, only downside was not having enough light but there was light and I tried not to shower at night. Plus, who doesn't bring flashlights to camp? Anyways, the showers were stellar and I can't knock points for having not enough light because there was literally a light in the wet area and dry area - plus plenty of towel/clothing hangers. This property was just too good we actually extended our stay. This was one of our most memorable trips and we owe it to Katy and all the staff on site! read more

Stayed over Memorial weekend. Purpose of visit was Yosemite, so no need for high end amenities. Spaces are small, but gravel footing and pretty level. If you don't like being close to your neighbour this is not the spot for you. My main issue was the lack of shower and toilets available. The main shower and toilet for women was closed the entire time we were there for maintenance. Gents was open. Directed to the tent camping toilet which was just one toilet and the shower which was padlocked shut every time I tried to use it. So, no showers at all available for women, and only 1 toilet. Other than that, if you are looking for somewhere to park your trailer reasonably close to the south entrance of Yosemite, with full hook up (which you will need because of points raised previously) it's ok. This is our 60th RV park. Its an old park but not bad. A lot of shade trees, it's on the banks of the Fresno River. Yosemite isn't that far and we received great advice on how to visit the park - in the late afternoons when the hordes are departing. There are other attractions nearby. They have a swimming hole. The "full hookups" worked, except at the very end. They have NO INTERNET, and I was told they haven't for a month and a half despite the WIFI working and asking you to log in. It wasn't that big a deal, other than our hotspots not being very functional. It's fairly remote. There are NUMEROUS first timers renting RVs, and they have no idea how an RV works. One gentleman asked me about the "tube" I had running out of my RV. Oh, the waste hose. Ok. Another camper parked their RV front end in first. I wish I had been there to help him set up. As we prepared to leave, we dumped our RV tanks but the liquid stopped flowing. Asked the park for help, cannot depart in that situation. Maintenance found there was a block between the trailers and the bathhouse causing waste to back up through the whole park. He had to take our hose off, releasing disgusting water. I had to clean off the equipment at the park's dump station, not ideal. We ended up departing 2 hours late - combined with accidents and fires got us into Vegas at 9:30PM. read more

Clean campsites. They are small sites, but due to COVID we got 2 for social distancing. Staff was nice, check in was easy as well as reservations. Wildlife was seen - raccoons, deer, ducks, quail and lots of birds. Great location to explore the surrounding areas. Great price for full hookups! We added an extra night and they were very accommodating. Love the staff!! Also, reported the issue with the arguing campers and they were glad I notified them. Great place to stay. Didn't do over! Cons- - camper down a few sites had foul language/arguing at night and during the day. - unsure of hours of the office, they seem to close by 4pm read more

This place is amazing for those of us who do not require high end amenities and just want a great RV place near Yosemite and fun surrounding activities. No pool, no spa, no clubhouse...fine! It has a fun shallow River running through that the kids can play in safely. The restrooms are clean, the showers are private and the location couldn't be better. The RV spots are closer together than some but not uncomfortably close and have all the hookups needed. My family loved it and will definitely be returning! read more

Check in was fast, easy and employees were friendly. The park is in the city but next to a river in an area with trees, so you don't really feel like you are right in the city. There are long term spaces and nightly spots. The nightly spots are very close and there is not much privacy. If you can overlook that, it really is a nice spot. We stayed here for three nights. Our spot was a bit tight when the neighbors showed up. They stayed in their motorhome so it didn't create any issues. Our fire pits were only a few feet away, which was a bit weird. Our site over looked the the sand volleyball court and the river. There is great little swimming hole not far from the site at the end. Only complaint was we would have liked to have more bathrooms, we waited in line a bit too long at times. All in all, it was a good stay and if we returned to that area we would stay there again. read more

My friend I was with had been working with the manager on a month to month spot so she wanted to show me the area. Right away Donna came out of the office to say the manager was retiring soon & we couldn't walk into the camp ground due to Covid so we went the way she told us to go. She left this note attached on my car. I don't recommend this place to anyone looking to be treated with respect. I would give zero stars if it let me. This past weekend friends and I decided to go to Yosemite but found this little gem that was inexpensive for us. This camping site is not too far from the Yosemite entrance, easy access to gas station, Vons, other food stores, even big 5. Camping sites also come with a assigned fire pit, water faucet area and electricity! Front desk ladies are super nice and helpful. The office also sells ice, firewood, and other camping necessities. We placed our tents in front of the creek area, we loved our sites ( if you are sensitive to light during the nighttime just know there is an industrial area across the creek that shines lights towards the camp sight) This place has clean bathrooms and showers that are cleaned every morning. Will definitely be coming back to this camping site. read more

Teetering between 3 and 3 1/2 stars -- while you're not really getting the full camping experience here IMO, this place isn't a bad option when all the campgrounds in Yosemite are booked. We arrived later in the evening and didn't have any trouble checking in -- there's a board in front of the office where the staff left our reservation information (wifi, shower codes, etc.) and noted where our campsite would be. There aren't very many campsites here, and they are admittedly, quite small -- we were given sites 6 and 7 which gave us a bit more room between the other guests, which was nice. If you have a choice, I'd recommend asking for sites after 5; the ones I saw that were closest to the bathroom were so small, you could barely park your car in there let alone a tent or two. Another downside: it looks like there's a business park across the creek, and they don't turn down the lights at night. Luckily activity is fairly quiet over the weekend but it does take a way from the nature experience of camping :) Pros: Despite nearly full capacity between the RVs and campsites, our fellow campers were quiet and respectful. Most folks (ourselves included) were in bed fairly early and gone by the morning to make the most of Yosemite. The staff we encountered were very friendly and had tons of recommendations for things to do in the area. If you don't fancy yourself as a super experienced camper, the location is perfect -- it's a 5-minute walk to Rite Aid, a super short drive to the grocery store/restaurants, and you have full service capabilities on your cell phone. All in all, for $24 bucks a night, it's not a bad option at all. I wouldn't take someone here for their first camping experience since it doesn't really "feel" like camping, but for the convenience of being close to town and having a place to lay your head before heading into Yosemite NP, it's perfectly adequate for your needs. read more

25 min to Yosemite entrance. Plenty gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants in the area. Kids had a blast on the beach area and in the creek. Saw squirrels, raccoons, and ducks. Clean bathrooms and showers. Nice hookups. Each site had a fire pit and table. Staff was kind enough to advise us to move our truck, because people rent RVs and hit other vehicles on the road. Very relaxing site with kind, attentive staff. Would definitely stay again. read more

I have been camping woth tent here almost every time I have gone to Yosemite. Great installations (hot water showers, fully equiped restrooms, good wifi, running water in campsite, bench for each tent spot). It is close to the village, so you can always go to buy groceries or go to a restaurant there. Fairly "close" to Yosemite (1h car) for not being inside the park. We'll come back again whenever we go back to Yosemite :) PS. if you plan to camp in October-winter, bring quite thick sleeping bags. This was a interesting camp ground. The desk workers were great and had clean bathrooms unfortunately that is where my positive review ends. The campsites were small and very tight No staff on duty during many hours of the morning or evening. The river was nice but there was homeless people hanging at campground river. Even though I was a little late to the game, I decided to hike Half Dome with a group of friends last weekend. They'd planned this adventure months in advance, so they already had their campsite in Yosemite Valley on lock-down. Little old me, however, was left out in the cold trying to figure out where to lay my head before and after the Summit. Finding campsites outside of Yosemite Park on-line can be a difficult task. (Take this as a nudge to all you Yelpers to start sharing the details on your Sierra Nevada secrets!) Lucky for me, High Sierra has a decent website that gives you just enough info to get your butt to the right place. When you pull into the park, you go down a hill past the the mobile homes, then the RV pull-thru sites, and at the very bottom along the river are the tent sites. I can only vouch for the tent campsites, but the RV sites looked great too, if that's how you roll. Here's a list of amenities from their brochure: Cable TV - What, what?! Free Wi-Fi - Seriously, we're yelpers. No matter how much we rough it, you've got to love this. Beach & Swimming Area - Um, the beach part is to me an exaggeration since it's the Fresno River, but with a bit of liquid courage I would have so jumped in! Fire Rings & Picnic Tables - Awesome! I couldn't find this detail on the website for the life of me, but I was happy to see we could have campfires. A few perks from my own list... After hours check-in - They've got a board that lists your reserved site, or if you don't have reservations, they list the sites that are open. Very useful to us Angelenos that can't leave until after work and arrive during the twilight hours. Electrical outlets at tent sites - They were attached to the back of the water spigots at each site. I could have charged my cell phone! Walking distance to Oakhurst amenities - My group was very surprised to see that Oakhurst is not a small town and has everything you could possibly need. For us, that was beer, but we opted to drive since the hill out of the park was a doozy and we needed to save ourselves for Half Dome. Only 20 minutes to the South Gate of Yosemite - Not bad! Close to Bass Lake - Never been, but might check it out on my next visit. One negative: On the opposite bank of the Fresno River is a huge warehouse and a ton of utility vehicles. Kinda a bummer since all the campsites have this in their view, but it's only an eyesore. High Sierra gave us everything we needed on super short notice, and totally fit the bill. You definitely won't be roughing it, but it's nice to feel the earth beneath you as you sleep and hear the calming rush of a waterfall just a few feet away even when you don't have the time to pull yourself far away from civilization. read more

We came in on Golden Oak Drive so did not come thru trailer park area (other reviews had a problem with this). The staff was friendly and we got Good Sam discount ($31). VERY friendly, helpful office staff/management and gorgeous area! Be prepared for super small, tight spots for RVs. Only one bath/shower house with 2 showers for men/ 2 showers for women. Would be great if they would build an additional bathhouse to accommodate all the campers. Not fond of the new internet policy with daily charge per connection. All in all, though, this location is very convenient to Yosemite and the Sugar Pine Railroad. Don't miss the Sugar Pine Steam Locomotive Moonlight Ride. SOOO much fun! read more

This is a great little RV park with good sized sites, full hookups, friendly staff, and their own river! (OK... it's the Fresno River, but it DOES run right through the park, LOL!). They've put together a great combination: full service amenities with that "real camping" feel. So you can spend your days touring around the area, visiting Yosemite, and come back home to either your RV or tent site and have all the "goodies" you desire. read more

Full disclosure, I haven't had the pleasure of staying here yet. The time I was gonna go was up in the air due to the 2020 first fires. I decided I prob won't be able to go. Cancelled the trip with friends and forgot about it. Most importantly, the reservation itself. After that weekend, I got a survey and noted I didn't actually stay bc of the fires. Being that they were opened and I didn't let them know, there was nothing they could do. Understandable. Then, a few days ago, I got a large portion of my reservation back. Just purely done bc these folks were doing good in a time of crisis. I didn't deserve it. In any case, folks like these deserve all the business they can handle. Surprised at the bad reviews here. Although this was first time ever at an rv park. I found it to be beautiful, useful, and reasonably priced. My stay was unusual because I just needed a quiet place to sleep in my Tesla and get a small charge. The two women who helped me at the front were friendly and cool. I only booked one night but ended up staying 3 nights. The second night I didn't notify them because I came after hours unexpectedly. In the morning they just left a note on my car. Went to the front when I woke and we happily squared it away. Would absolutely recommend this place for people looking to stay near Yosemite, it's the perfect distance. It's also a creative way to save money. read more

I'd like to give this place more stars but it's just pretty low quality with very little shade. The staff were friendly enough and the services were adequate, but nothing special. The best feature was really the swimming hole with the rope swing that the kids enjoyed on the last day. It was a bit awkward getting there because you had to walk through others sites but pretty nice water and fun for the kids. We would stay here again if we couldn't find a better option for Yosemite but our expectations are a bit lower than they were initially. read more

We were very disappointed with this location. When we arrived the staff was "at lunch" so we waited an extra 30 minutes to get our site. The site was cramped, literally our door opened on to the neighboring campsite. It would have been difficult to extend our slide-outs on the RV. Our fire pit was next to the neighboring campsite (almost touching), and unfortunately was dirty with foul smelling paper. The swimming hole was cool, but in the end, it was not the experience we were seeking so we moved to another campsite. The staff was understanding and quickly refunded our money to us. read more

The website and video over sells this place. It makes it look nicer than it is. The pros is the location to Bass Lake. It's only about a 10 min drive away and 90 min from Yosemite. The sites are shared and open toward each other, which was ok for us because we went with friends. It may be awkward for others though. The sites back up to the creek, which was a lot of fun for the kids to play in. One of my biggest cons is that the entire site and roads are either gravel and/or sand, which made everything messy. Also, the kids were disappointed they couldn't ride bikes. The sand also had a lot of ants, so we had to be weary of them to avoid bites. The RV place should really invest in paving the sites! The last con is the women's restroom was always dirty and didn't have toilet paper twice. We probably would not stay here again. read more

I would give zero stars if I could! This place looks nothing like the pictures. Maybe in the spring! During the summer its hot and you are packed in on top of each other. The river is more like a creek thats barely moving. We picked this place to try somewhere new and will not be going back. I brought my boat with us to go to bass lake while camping the lady on the golf cart gave me shit the whole time about it even being there. I parked it 100 yards away in a dirt parking lot and would only bring it over to load and unload and she had the biggest problem with that!! Told me to carry all my stuff to the parking lot!! LMFAO yeah right! Basically by the time we were leaving i had pulled it over to the spot to load all our stuff. She made such a big deal about it she actually told us we were not welcome to their shit hole rv park anymore!! Don't worry we were never coming back anyway. read more

I'm so thankful that I didn't read those negative reviews before our stay at High Sierra. We had a GREAT experience, but we're tent campers. The tent sights right beside the Fresno River gave a great vantage point for viewing the resident beaver working on his dam. The staff was very helpful and friendly (and beaver knowledgeable). We arrived after rains, and there was adequate drainage for the site to be dry enough for us to pitch our tents (our party had 2 sites). The bathrooms were clean and we had 24 hour access to them. The gravel roads were a little difficult for us to navigate on our motorcycles, but after a few days that wasn't such an issue. Convenient location to gas stations and food places. I look forward to staying here in the future. read more

The park sits right next to a flowing ice cold river. Full hook ups and late night check in. We had no idea where we were going to go until late and they have a board to see what spots are open and just pull in hook up and pay in the morning. Will be back for sure.
