First timer and will be a life-long visitor from now on! SERVICE: Amazing! Super welcoming staff and accommodating. We ended up extending our stay and took care of it right away. I was about to cancel our reservation due to the recent snow/winter storm and even with chains we were worried about becoming stranded but they were kind enough to offer a reschedule due to the promo being non cancellable. Glad we stuck through the new reservation! Communication was very easy; either through messages or phone call and our needs were met quickly. Being a first timer in the resort and the area, they were very helpful with answering our questions about things to do or where to go. I can't say enough good things about their staff. Check in was a breeze with online and at registration, so was check out. AMENITIES: Granted we went during winter months and right after a snowstorm so we really weren't able to use the amenities such as the pool or hot tub but we were able to walk around and it was open. The Pines market is very convenient with all our needs as well as the other shops and stores for snacks or different foods. Parking was easy at the registration although they might need to repaint some of the numbers or lines in front of the chalets but other than that, no issues with parking at all. ROOM/ACCOMMODATION: We reserved a 2 queens chalet with lakeside view. Unfortunately, our view was blocked by the electric pole/trees towards the lake but can still see some of the lake. It was still a beautiful view and the location of our chalet was close to the amenities. The chalet was clean and had no harsh cleaning solution smells. I loved that it came with a kitchenette and the balcony to do some outdoor grilling. The place was comfortable and homey. I wish there was just another toilet upstairs lol because there was 4 of us and we somehow managed to want to use the restroom at the same time multiple times LOL. But otherwise, everything was in working condition. As a suggestion, if they can change the bedroom tv to a smart tv because the cable channels kept glitching and channel options were slim also if possible just have it on the wall, creates more walking space because it was pretty tight walking to the beds lol. There's this little cubby space on the other side of the bathroom wall where a dresser (a tall one) could be put instead. Otherwise, I still very much loved our stay. Good luck if you get stuck in traffic or arrive after 8:30pm. There are absolutely NO dining options. Everything shuts down at this time. We had to beg a staff member to get us a frozen meal at a tiny store so that we can eat something for dinner. They brought us a hot pocket. The first thing they tell you is nobody is allowed to make noise after 10pm. There was a huge party going on at the pool with loud pounding music in Spanish. I was getting a headache from this. I called the front desk. It took them 30 minutes to shut it down. I paid almost $400 for this room. I got no food, horrible noise and no rest. I do NOT recommend this hotel. Get an Airbnb. read more

I only stayed one night at The Pines Resort in Bass Lake, but it was enough to absolutely love it. Our cabin was small but super cozy, just a short walk to the lake, and we had a great lake view from our balcony. The cabins freely a bit outdated, but the property is really clean and well kept, and the restaurants and bars were amazing. We had such a fun time. Huge shoutout to Kim from the security team, who was incredibly friendly, patient, and took great care of us, even shuttling us back and forth to the Pines Bar a few times. Honestly, every staff member we encountered was awesome. Short stay, great experience, and we'll definitely be back. read more

This is our second time staying in a chalet at the Pines. It was a perfectly fine experience. The cabins are rustic, and a bit dated, but they have a fully stocked kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave, pots and pans and toaster. The view from our cabin was nice, and it has a great deck in the back to sit on. The chalet is basically divided in half and you are next to another person. You are quite close and it does sound like they are in your room while they speak. The floors are also very creaky and loud when you are upstairs. All in all, it was an enjoyable stay. read more

My friend and his gf gone here every year and he advised me to check it out sometime if I ever visit Yosemite. I booked the chalet room online and even got a good promo discount. I checked in a couple of days before for our stay. When we arrived the staff knew my name and checked us in very quickly. The cabin was so nice and spacious. At the entrance - full kitchen with everything you need (plates, utensils, bowls, microwave, fridge, etc). Couch and tv to relax. A back patio where you can bbq and picnic tables. Upstairs - A small loft where you can climb a ladder. A perfect spot for guest to sleep with an airbed. Downstairs (stairs pretty steep so be careful) - bathroom, shower, and master bedroom. I thought it was helpful that the alarm clock has usb added which made it easier to charge phones. Using the shower head can be tricky where you must pulled the tip of the faucet to access. The resort also did provided directions, but can be confusing to some. The resort has many restaurants (bar, Mexican food, ice cream, snacks, etc.) to enjoy from walking distance. Also take a nice walk and enjoy the beautiful view of the lake. read more

Took a quick trip up to The Pines this past weekend for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! We booked a chalet for one night. Staff at registration were super friendly and provided necessary info for our stay. The online check in also made check in a breeze. When booking, I requested a baby gate and staff were thoughtful in placing us in a cabin right across from the playground. Not super useful for our 9 month old but it's super nice that they thought of that! The chalets are split into 2 levels with a bonus loft. You enter into the main level which includes a full kitchen, stocked with utensil, cookware, etc. Downstairs you'll find your bedroom and bathroom. One thing I was really impressed with having a crawling baby was the cleanliness of the floors. I took a wipe to main level floor and was pleased to find virtually zero dirt on the wipe after wiping in various spots. The Pines is really such a great spot because you really don't need to leave. They have a small market with a great selection of everyday items. We actually forgot baby soap and were able to pop right in for a travel size bottle. You can also check out their lakeside restaurants for a bite to eat. You can try the bar and grill for something more casual or duecys on the lake for a more upscale experience. They also have a completely separate bar on site. Overall, I would highly recommend taking a trip up to The pines. The scenery, the accommodations and the staff make it all very worthwhile! read more

We arrived for breakfast and I was on the fence between the avocado toast and lox and bagel. I chose the lox. I was disappointed unfortunately. The salmon slices were too thick. I can appreciate how much was provided, but they need to be much much thinner slices. I didn't care for the flavor. My son tried it and said it was a smoked applewood. I removed the salmon off my bagel and ate only the cream cheese and tried to top it off with the capers. I would do some training on preparing this plate. Would not recommend at all. I probably should've gone for French toast, can't really go wrong with that. My suggestion is to research how to make this selection more appetizing. I left most the salmon on the plate and made it not worth the price. I wish I could've gave a better review on it because I was looking forward to it. My son had the chicken and waffles and his plate looked good, despite not eating meat myself. He said he really liked it, and finished most of it. I would return to try another dish, but can't recommend the lox and bagel as is, needs improvement. I also ordered an espresso, but honestly it didn't taste any different than a smaller cup of regular coffee. I was expecting a jolt of caffeine, sadly disappointed. . I needed to go to the store and buy a Starbucks bottle of single coffee to make up for the "espresso" drink. The views were pretty from where we were sitting and would love to return to try another dish and maybe a latte that feels caffeinated. I would love to give this place a second chance, considering the views. But the views alone don't supplement for the quality of the food that was missing in my dish. read more

We stayed here a few nights with my family and really enjoyed our stay. The views of the mountains and lake were beautiful, and we loved having stores and restaurants nearby for convenience. Our chalet was clean and nicely maintained. It did feel a bit outdated, but still comfortable and pleasant overall. We saw these photos on the 1 King bed Chalet and were sold! My husband and I expected to have the cabin to ourselves based on these photos, but we were a bit surprised to see upon arrival that it's the cabin pictured only essentially cut in half. This didn't matter much to us until our neighbors showed up and we could hear every word they said through our shared wall, which was rough with a toddler and partying unexpected neighbors next door! The cabin is very lightly stocked, and lightly cleaned as well-mostly the floors being unswept dirtying our socks within the first few hours of being there. We did however thoroughly enjoy the outdoor amenities! Our toddler had so much fun at the playground, and plenty of fun to be had with ice skating/games at the activity center. We did go to the restaurant for breakfast and dinner, and the food/staff was great-as well as a friendly front desk staff! We will consider going again after having a clear idea of the cabins, and will most likely share the whole cabin with friends/family to avoid noisy neighbors. read more

We booked a 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom chalet and overall it was a good experience. When we first got here, the front desk lady warned us about bears being active at night right now. We were concerned a bit but didn't think we would encounter any. She gave us a map to our chalet but the map was a bit hard to read so we struggled to find our chalet a (plus we arrived at night). Our chalet was close to trash can and after we unloaded our stuff, we already saw one bear! So be careful when you stay here to not leave any food inside your car and also keep distance from them. The rooms are decent. When we walked in, it's upstairs bedroom. There are bedroom and bathroom with a balcony. Then there's stairs on the side leading to downstairs bedroom and bathroom but no balcony. There's one fridge and one microwave upstairs in the chalet. I wish there was an actual desk so I could eat my breakfast on. The rooms are cute but not the cleanest. We saw one towel with a dirt spot. If you are on the bedroom downstairs, you can pretty much hear people upstairs walk or get up on the bed. We could also hear weird noises when someone upstairs flush toilet for a bit. Not sure what caused that but the noise kept going on for a bit even after the flush was completed. There's a market and restaurant onsite. Market doesn't have a lot of options for food to pack to eat inside Yosemite. I am not a big fan of the staff at the market. I went there a couple times already and each time I met different staff and their attitudes weren't very nice at all when I asked questions. I suggest training them more on customer service. Front desk and other hotel staff were so helpful and friendly. Two front desk ladies helped us with planning for Yosemite (because there was no service so we couldn't use our gps, and we had trouble finding a way there). And other hotel staff helped us with the bear situation because we were concerned. So all the hotel staff are super nice and friendly. If you could train the market staff to have a service mind like your hotel staff, it would make guests' experience much much better! We did not spend much time at the lake near the hotel because we spent most of our time inside Yosemite. Next time I would like to come here (ideally during summer) and spend more time at the lake! read more

We love going to Bass lake, the natural beauty surrounding the lake and easy access to Yosemite and Oakhurst. The Pines Resort has a lot to offer, lodging, restaurants, pool, and next to it is a small local grocery store, bar, small shops, etc. So if you didn't want to go to Oakhurst for amenities, you have everything that you need. We have stayed in both the chalets and the lodge. I like the chalets because they have more like a small cabin feel and some units back up to the trees which is lovely to see and feels more remote. There is a small park for kids and if you bring a dog, the area to walk your dog is safe. The cons are the steps going downstairs are very steep and have shorter length steps, so if you have a larger foot part of your feet exceed the step, I felt like I had to hold on to the railing. Not sure the stairs would be code today. They do't have instructions on how to operate the TV or oven. Every time we have stayed, there is something that needs to be fixed or issues with the TV. The last time we stayed, the bathroom fan was so loud and the heater in the bathroom did not work. Not sure if housekeeping would pick up on these kinds of things, but you do notice when we you are staying there. I feel the they need to update and refresh the units. That being said, I still would recommend staying there and will definitely go back. There is something special about staying in a quaint lodge or chalet vs a major hotel chain in Oakhurst. read more

Not bad, not good. The pros: great access to the lake, very friendly staff, good access to some restaurants and bars. The cons: very very outdated rooms. Floors that squeak so loud that it wakes up everyone sleeping downstairs. Water that rushes through the pipes so loudly that, even when your neighbor turns on the water, it wakes up even heavy sleepers. Ants in the bathroom and sink. The accommodations just need to be updated quite a bit - they seem to be stuck in the 90s. If you are desperate to stay on the lake, this will do. Otherwise, I would skip. read more

We stayed in the chalets this weekend, what a great time! We stayed in one chalet, and friends stayed in the joined unit next door, kids loved it being able to open the units up like one big house. Kids enjoyed playing on the playground and trying out the other onsite activities such as basketball and ice skating. The village has some really cute shops, coffee and ice cream. The restaurant, Ducey's on the Lake, is fantastic and a must for dinner and breakfast. Even managed to get a few drinks at The Pines Bar in the evening, lively bar with a great atmosphere. My husband and I have stayed in the lake suites and in the past in the chalets. Every trip has been amazing. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the food and ambiance is incredible. We love eating at the bar upstairs every visit. The food and view are incredible, 5 star. Everything you need for a vacation is here. It's an awesome resort. So we have been loyal customers of The Pines Resort for years. We got married there, we were customers before, and after that. We just returned from a visit there this weekend. Is it great? Yes. Are we biased? Probably a bit. But I'd encourage anyone visiting the Yosemite area to check out The Pines. Duceys is good, the market is so convenient (but PRICEY), they will always remain in our heart strings. Yes we will be back again, and again after that. But they have absolutely GOT TO STOP the up charges. A few years ago you were paying 150$ for a chalet, even during the "up season" but during the week. This weekend, we paid 900ish dollars for two nights in one chalet, and a second chalet for a night, so our family could visit. The pet chalets always bother me. We are already renting a pet friendly chalet...only to add another 85$ for a pet enhancement, with one gift bag, even if you have two dogs. In South Lake Tahoe recently, we were charged 20$ per dog. Most recently however, they removed the bbq's on the chalet decks, and you now have to pay 35$ to rent a cheap unstable charcoal grill if you want to bbq...they were never great to begin with but I was fine with it because you don't have to bring your own. We used to come here 4-5 times a year. We now come here once or twice a year. Even though it's very special to us. Stop the additional charges or find a way to allocate the revenue through something else. The multiple messages and cards to tip staff are awkward too. I greatly appreciate the staff and I make sure to wash our dishes with antibacterial dish liquid, we put the bedding and trash in an easy to access location. At 300+ dollars a night though, during the off season, an available bbq would be great, especially when you show up with food that has to be cooked. read more

The good: It is right in the lake. The restaurant food is good (although a little pricey. Staff are friendly. The bad: The rooms are very outdated and worn out. In the room we stayed in, the tile was cracked in several places the walls were dingy and chipped. The faucet at the wet bar was wobbly and had to be turned on with two hands. The Jacuzzi tub had seen better days. We were there in 2020 and it was really nice. It seems to have gone downhill since then. read more

Lovely cabins right on the lake. The village includes 4 restaurants, a coffee shop and a pub as well as some sweet little boutiques. You can rent a boat, jet ski or paddle board on site for playing on the lake and it is about an hour drive Yosemite  (20 min to gate/ mariposa sequoia grove, 40 min to bride veil and Yosemite falls). It was a great spot to have a Mix of activities and access to more amenities than camping/ air bnb and less full on resort like Tenaya if you plan to leave and really go enjoy the beautiful outdoor options in the region.  The cabins are rustic and the views are beautiful read more

The one thing I loved about this resort is the convenience. They have their own store, coffee shop, pizza, restaurant, boat ramp, and you could rent boats and all kinds of other water toys. The front desk staff was very friendly checking in and out. We reserved a Chalet with lake view. Trying to get to the chalet was difficult. The road is very narrow and parking was tight, especially with a large truck. The Chalets are old and a little run down. It is 2 stories with a full kitchen. As soon as you walk in the kitchen on the right, and a living room with a sofa bed and a tv on the wall. Which did not work. Down stairs are 2 queen beds, a tv and one bathroom. Downstairs was not very big. There was also a door to exit out downstairs. We were surprised when we opened our door and there was 2 bags of trash and linens left behind by housekeeping. By morning, critters got the trash bags and there was trash everywhere The beds were pretty comfy. I asked for pillows for the sofa bed and they were never delivered. On the property they have a decent size pool. I was definitely disappointed in the "beach" size. It was right next to the dock. Not very much room for people to enjoy their day on the beach. Note: there were a lot of people trying to launch their boats. If you are going to launch, bring lots of patience's. read more

My family has been going here every July for the past decade and absolutely love it. The chalets are the perfect size for a family of four and the distance to the lake and pool can't be beat. Unfortunately, during our most recent visit, the chalet resort decided to hire an obnoxious, ghetto DJ to destroy the family environment at the pool. While music would be a great addition to the pool, they need to vet their potential DJs/tracklist a little better. Felt at times like the DJ thought he was at a nightclub in Las Vegas and oblivious to the fact that half the pool crowd was under the age of 12. read more

My family and I had such an amazing time at the Pines. Their hospitality is what really did it for me. Every employee we encountered was over the top helpful and kind. The chalets are cute and have a very homey feel. They have a great park which our 2 year old loved. The park was right outside our chalet, so if you have kids, I would recommend reserving one of those chalets.They also have a restaurant on-site that we love to eat at. Upon arrival, guest staff with checking in was super friendly and made the process very quick and easy to check in. We loved that they made us feel special with gifting our three kids stuff animals and a mug with coffee in our room. So thoughtful, loved it! We had a chalet for 2 nights. It's equipped with a full kitchen so there was plenty of kitchen utensils there if we needed. We even got our own bbq grill right out on our patio, how nice! While we walked around the property, we notice that there was more than we expected. We found an ice rink and a family area where they had a cute little game room and even a little gym! The kids loved the swings and the games near the ice rink, we ended up being in that area for hours! The pool area seems like it hasn't been in used in a while and we were looking for our pool towels when a near by neighbor mention that it was in this empty pool room next to the pool. It was kinda odd just having to go in an empty room filled with pool towels but it was fine. We went to Duceys grill for lunch and loved the selection! We didn't realize the area was an up and downstairs being the grill on top and the steakhouse on bottom. Loved loved having dinner at ducey's on the lake. We got a bit of everything and oh my was it so good! Down to the presentation and the portions to the taste! 10/10 read more

Update: email sent to "owner" with several other concerns not listed in this review. Staff was very friendly, unless something was wrong. And there were a few things wrong here. First off, we arrived and went to our chalet. No fireplace. I had read in the room description that there would be a fireplace that used DuraFlame logs. We stopped at 2 different stores before we arrived to find extra logs so we could have the fire burning most of the night, knowing that rain was expected at least on of the days of our trip. So when we arrived and realized that there was no fireplace, I called the front desk. The young lady informed me that "some" of their chalets have fireplaces, and that we did not "request" one. I explained that the website lead me to believe that all chalets had a fireplace, and that I was not aware that we had to request one. I then asked if we could switch to a chalet that had a fireplace, and I was told no - because they were fully booked for the night. What a bummer. But we decided to make the best of it. We'd brought food to cook because the website boasts, "a fully equipped kitchen." The next morning we woke up to cook breakfast.. not a single pan - only 3 pots - and no cookie sheet. The plastic cooking utensils were old and worn. We called the front desk and requested a pan and a cookie sheet. They did bring a small cookie sheet and a 6-inch frying pan, and for some reason the lady told us that it was their only pan, but they were waiting for more to arrive. Problem solved, sort of. After breakfast I decided to shower. I turned the water on in the bathtub/shower combo downstairs, and the tub was barely draining. I looked in the drain and it was disgusting - visibly clogged with muck and hair. I called the front desk to request that someone come fix it. She stated that she could send someone while we were gone, as we were getting ready to leave for the day. I said that was fine, and requested some extra hand towels and towels - as they had only left 2 hand towels and 3 wash cloths for 3 of us for a 3 night stay. She said it wouldn't be a problem. We got back to the chalet late, after hiking in Yosemite all day, and dinner. The tub drain had clearly not been cleaned, and the tub was still not draining properly.. and there were no extra towels. I called downstairs again, this time a bit upset. I was told that they had to check with the maintenance person to see when they could come. Luckily, he showed up fairly quickly. He spent maybe 10 minutes in the bathroom and fixed the drain. The towels also arrived about 10 minutes after the call. Of other note, the walls on these duplexes are paper thin. On our first night, we were connected to what seemed like a chalet full of kids / teens. They were loud, playing hide and seek, arguing and occasionally cussing each other out until about 1:30am when we finally went to bed.. and we could hear almost every single word they said all night long. The chalet itself is cute, albeit dated. The downstairs bedroom is nice, but a bit small with the 2 queen beds. We had to shimmy past the end of the beds because of the bureau that was in front of it. Otherwise, it was decent. Water got hot fairly quickly, it was clean, and the loft was a great place for my son to hang out to read books and get an education on foul language. The location is awesome, being about 20-30 minutes from Yosemite's South Gate. And the town of Oakhurst has plenty of shopping and restaurants. They have a cute "village" with a small, over-priced grocery store, some shops, coffee shop and pizza place. The lake is gorgeous, even though it was at a very low level when we were there. We ate at Ducey's one night, and it was great. Separate review for them. Honestly, with the availability of other resorts on the lake, this was our first and probably last stay here. read more

I've been meaning to provide an update to my initial, unfavorable 2-star review. I decided to come back to The Pines Resort with my mom, as she used to love coming here with my dad. My dad had recently passed away, and I wanted to give my mom a nice little getaway in a place where she had so many pleasant memories. This time, I booked one of the suites instead of a chalet room. I wanted to see how they differed, and they also seemed more accommodating for my mom, who has limited mobility. Our room was so quaint and lovely! Very spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful view. We went to breakfast at their restaurant before we headed to Yosemite, and the service and food was fantastic. Overall, my mom and I had such a wonderful getaway trip, and I'm so glad I gave The Pines another chance. read more

I have read some poor reviews on here and I am beginning to think that some people are just difficult and impossible to please. When people are upset that a resort cant make the impossible happen, like giving them a room when they dont have one, you know the reviewer is impossible. Anyway, the resort was great. The cabin, #106 was great. Yes, they are like a cabin so you have that style and you have that feel, but everything was clean, functioning and in very good condition -given that you are in the woods and please remember, everything needs to be brought in. We were extremely surprised about how good the food was as we were not expecting the food to be amazing, but it was. Huge portions too, so I recommend sharing! We especially liked the caesar salad, the Acai bowl for breakfast, pancakes, grilled artichokes, clam chowder and most of the fish options were all extremely good. The most memorable part was the staff! Everyone was warm, welcoming and accommodating. It is uncommon these days where most business feel like you should be happy they are serving you and not the other way around. I asked the staff why they go so far out of their way and they said it was due to the owner and the fact that he wants to create this warm community at The Pines Resort. I believe that because I could see it, taste it and feel it. We had an amazing time and we will be back. read more

Dog friendly kid friendly close to all the amazing things in the area Sure the chalet could use a coat of paint here and there but it was very comfortable and nice and cool. Our chalet was very walkable to everything and we had some great breakfast at duceys on the lake. Some reviews mentioned the beds being hard and what not we did not find that to be the case very comfortable and all the folks at the resort were so nice. I especially loved the ladies that worked at the market! Loved taking to them. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook. (Pro tip: bring spices and some olive oil!) Family gathering over 5 days at The Granite Ridge Villa, and while its a beautiful view from the deck there were quite a few issues we had during our stay that would not make this a return location. The stars are really for the view. It did not appear that this home has been cleaned properly recently. Perhaps room turnover and bathroom cleanings but other areas of the home were lacking. -Mice/rat droppings on the outdoor furniture behind cushions- and a lot of it. Droppings also found in the house on the dining table. There clearly is a rodent issue going on. Kitchen floor corners had foam sealant. -mouse and his or her nest found in the bbq. Yuck! - carpet on the stairs had dead bugs on multiple steps (inside the house) doesn't look like any vacuuming was done on the steps Other minor issues: -no hangers or hanging space in guest closets, they seem to use it as storage. -no full Length mirrors in any room or bathrooms -bring your own TP, provided TP was like sandpaper There is no direct entrance to the kitchen from where you can drive a car to, So expect climbing lots of steps to get your food/coolers into the kitchen. Same with luggage into the rooms, steps. Not ideal for elderly or those with walking impairments. read more

Staff was super helpful and friendly. The actual rooms were basic and a bit noisy but overall we didn't spend that much time on the room. Overall we were happy although felt it was a bit pricey and the shops around them were based on Bay Area prices. read more

The Pines Resort has a long standing, well-deserved reputation for hospitality. Located on the very edge of Bass Lake, it offers all water sports as well as dining options right at the hotel. The Pines is located outside of the south entrance of Yosemite and maintained year round. They offer two story chalets as well as rooms in the hotel. My husband and I planned our visit for Indian Summer - gorgeous time of year. Originally planned on staying at a king chalet, plans changed when we saw the narrow long stairway from bedroom to main living. Our stay at the hotel in a lovely suite overlooking the lake was comfortable as could be. Mini fridge and coffee maker and we were set. Our trip into Yosemite was easy from the Pines location. I love the Pines resort. I have been there through the years. The restaurant is great. The lake is great. Look forward to going back

VERY disappointed with the 2025 4th of July celebration. The event was WAY overpriced. For over $115 per person I was expecting either better food or better entertainment. The first band was ok but the solo guitarist sang slow songs. Totally wrong person for a 4th of July party. It would have been better to just have a DJ with dance music. I spent over $700 and walked away feeling totally ripped off. Save your money and watch the fireworks from the shore with some pizza and a radio. read more
