we visited the farm store after my grandkids enjoyed an hour on their farm. I love their blackberry jam, the popcorn was amazing and they had a really nice selection of meats and farm products. We did not try the ice cream, but a family outside raved about it. It's really nice that they allow people to come with their kids and see all the animals and make it a big flashy expensive thing. Therefore, we always visit the store and buy some product when we visit the animals!

Susie write was the absolute sweetest ever! My friend and I stopped in on Tuesday for some meat on our way back home. We used the bathrooms located right outside the store and then walked the grounds before going inside. I was SHOCKED at how well cared for the animals were. We arrived around 3:30, so mid day, and every single animal area was clean with fresh food and water. I was so impressed. The grounds were clean and very well kept. Lots of beautiful flowers and a beautiful pond. When we arrived there was a new delivery, twin sheep who were resting alongside their momma. It was precious. There was also a momma and baby cow, many ducks in the pond, and rabbits. Inside the store is full of handmade soaps, lotions, candles and food! We purchased some homemade crackers, goat cheese spread, pickles, ground beef and filet. Susie gave us a sheet with information about their meats and took her time showing us each cut so that we could hand pick the ones we wanted. We also ordered the goat cheese ice cream bing cherry and it was seriously the best thing I've ever had! It was so light and airy and has a tart salty flavor to it. I cannot wait to return for more!!! They have rabbit adoptions currently so if you are in the market for a sweet rabbit and can provide a loving home let them know and they will introduce you to them. We absolutely devoured our food and cannot wait to return for more! If you are in the area, or even if you aren't I highly recommend stopping in for some quality food. You won't regret it at all, and Susie is an absolute doll!

So glad we got our GA Farm Passports or else I probably would have never stumbled into this place! This market is ADORABLE. Looking forward to coming back with my cooler so I can stock up on all their cheeses, milks, and meats. Pricing is very fair. Also- baby cows! Very nice spot to stop by with the kids.

We visited yesterday 8/3 and really enjoyed our time. The land itself is beautiful and if you love nature you will really appreciate it as well. We pet some animals through/over the fence, and got to see a brand new baby cow that was born that same day! The director of the farm's truck needed to be jump started, so my husband offered and he was so kind and ended up getting it done himself. But we really appreciate how friendly he was to us and talking to us about the new baby's that were born. The review saying the place was dirty probably was made by someone who has never been to a farm, because all the animals looked properly taken care of and content. The store was very clean as well.

Mountain Valley Farm Store located at the Farm is a little outside of Elijay. MVF is USDA and GDA approved free of antibiotics, steroids, pesticides and chemical fertilizers. It's a rare Farm source near ATL that is open to the public! It was a scenic hour and half drive to the mountains and a pleasant way to spend a day. ++ Ambiance is a tiny country store. Outside, there's a playground for their pet goats and livestock area that seem to cater to newborns with their mothers: calves, lambs and baby goats. Beyond is a nice view of the mountains. The store was stocked with fresh meats and handmade goods. +++ MVFS sells their dry aged grass fed beef and bones, heritage pork and Jersey raw milk. Also, they sell other Georgia farm products such as Happy Cow Creamery butter, Three Graces Dairy handmade goat cheese, Sweetwater Valley Dairy handmade cheese, White Oak Pastures pasture raised chickens and pasture raised hen eggs, livers, chicken feet and locally handmade jams, sauces, honey, lotions using their tallow...and more. Expect products and availability to change through seasons and customer demands. + Price is on the higher side...about same as WFM. ++ Service was very good. Shelby, behind the counter was informative and friendly! MVF apparently delivers to northern suburbs every 6 weeks or so. It's not a CSA, but similarly, you place your order through phone or email and they will meet up / deliver your order free of charge at specified locations in Cumming, Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Canton, Woodstock and Kennesaw. Call them for details. ++ Parking was free and there were about 6 - 8 spaces. I'm a fan! So glad to have MVF near enough to get farm fresh wholesome meats and dairy! MY RATINGS - - - Inhumane - - Disgusted - Don't bother = Missed the Mark + Good ++ Better +++ Edible...where have you been all my life!

Wonderful Family business - great products from meats to ice cream and some cook books and jams/jellies. No provision to taste the wonderful and sometimes unusual Ice Cream Flavors (a recommendation hidden in a review). Bring the kids (not Goats) to pet the animals. Dogs are allowed in a limited area, but you're better off leaving them in the car.

I absolutely love this place! The folks here are always so pleasant and helpful..7 days a week! I purchased some filets recently and were happy to make suggestions. The Brown Butter Recipe I've included in my "actual" preparation picture collage was one they shared. The filets, which can be purchased small or large, are perfect for any meal and appetite! So tender!! Fresh eggs, fresh cheeses, chicken, ground beef, and so much more! I can't visit without getting a scoop of their homemade ice cream...Delicious!! Love all the specialty flavors!! You won't be disappointed and if you have kids, they will love visiting a working farm and the animals.

We love this place! It has become a road trip must with our family. I love the market and our girls love the animals (which are cared for so well there!).

Another absolute must-visit when you're in Ellijay…read more Let me start with the food -- because wow. By far some of the freshest and most flavorful apple pies I've ever had. Not "good for a farm market"... just flat-out amazing. The kind of pie you immediately start thinking about on the drive home. Their produce selection is equally impressive. We're talking everything from purple carrots to vegetables I didn't even know I needed in my life until I saw them. On top of that: homemade candies, jars of jam with flavor combinations I never would have imagined, and yes -- chow chow. If you've never had chow chow, do yourself a favor and try it. Game changer. But what truly makes this place special is the people. The ladies at the register were older, sweet, hilarious, and full of personality. One of them even flirted with me -- I had to tell her, "You can't handle this ride, grandma!" The entire exchange had me laughing the rest of the visit. In the back, a group of women were playing mahjong, just enjoying life, laughing, and clearly at home in the space. That energy carried throughout the whole market. It's the kind of place that feels lived in, loved, and genuinely warm. Even the guy outside in the parking lot collecting carts, casually smoking a cigarette, was one of the chillest people I've met. Everyone there just seemed... happy. Comfortable. Real. This place put a real smile on my face. Not because it's flashy or fancy -- but because it's authentic. Good food, good people, good energy. I already can't wait to go back. If you're in Ellijay and you don't stop here, you're doing the trip wrong.

A trip around the world and a walk down memory lane…read more It's been decades since I stepped foot inside the Buford Highway Farmers Market, and being back felt like a beautiful reunion. The last time I walked these aisles, I was with my mama, Donna Theresa. So much has changed since then, yet the soul of this place remains as vibrant as ever. It feels more expansive than I remember. A true global treasure tucked right here in the city. I'm still obsessed with how they organize the aisles by country. In just one afternoon, I traveled from Korea to Eastern Europe to Central America, no passport required! I was officially "team sample" the moment they offered! Unlike the heavy, sugary profile of traditional American cakes, these were a masterclass in balance. I tried the Neapolitan, a stunning phyllo-layered creation that was light, buttery, and perfectly textured. But the Lemon Cream Cake? It stole the entire show. It looked picture-perfect on the shelf, and the taste was even better. It was so bright, airy, and just the right amount of decadence. Coming back here wasn't just a grocery trip; it was a win for my palate and my heart. Now that I'm back in the area, you can bet this is becoming a regular stop on my rotation. Every single person was just lovely to answer all my questions about everything from their potatoes to their jams to their candies. Secondly, anything they have that's sugar-free is amazing. Jams, stick candies and everything else is just amazing - let me particularly recommend the sugar-free fig preserve. They have good reason to have perfected this - one of the family had type 2 diabetes and lost his legs after going into cardiac arrest. The sweet young man shared his story when he learned I was also a diabetic, as a cautionary tale. Their peaches were lovely, nectarines slightly less so, but nothing was bad. Their white potatoes were extraordinary. Apparently they purchased these - I called after I cooked some to find out the type, they were deliciously tender, just earthy and sweet enough to eclipse the prime ribeye steaks I cooked as the main. Boiled, then halved and baked with olive oil and salt, they were so good. Everyone exclaimed over them. I loved this place and look forward to visiting the next time I'm in that area.
