My elderly dog had several health issues and suddenly took a turn for the worse. I knew it was time to let her go, but my local vet staff couldn't schedule a euthanasia appointment for five days and delivered that news with little compassion! Neither my dog nor I could wait that long. Two friends recommended that I call Dr. Chong. The receptionist worked hard to fit us in at the end of the day and, when we arrived, I knew we were in good hands. The entire staff was so kind and Dr. Chong ensured that my dog and I were well taken care of during this difficult time. When you say something is terribly wrong they could take you seriously and see your animal on an emergency basis like you asked for instead of immediately declaring it not being an emergency or taking it upon themselves to "save" you money even though money wasn't a problem. You did not give me a same day appointment you made me wait until the following day and when I called to tell you he was getting worse you still wouldn't see him until 2:40. I had to take him to another vet because it was an emergency. They took him in immediately for surgery and told me afterwards that if I had waited any longer he could have died or his kidneys would be non-functional. My dog almost died due to your negligence and his kidneys might be damaged now. They don't even deserve 1 star. A simple I'm sorry and taking accountability for your mess up would be nice instead of going on the defense because you know you messed up. You told me he had blood in his urine because he needs to be castrated when that wasn't the reason. It was confirmed yesterday during the surgery. You just lost my business and everyone else in my family that used to go to you. read more

I brought my dog in for a rabies vaccine and after the injection I was given a receipt and that was it. I asked "Is this what I need to show the county?" and I was told that was all I need and sent on my way. I went out to the parking lot and did some research and it turns out I need a "rabies vaccine certificate" So, I go back in and the young tattoo girl at the counter tries blowing smoke up my arse "we don't know what the county requires, if you need a rabies certificate you will have to come back in an hour". I am a nurse, I know how long it takes to fill out a vaccination form. If you are lazy and dishonest you should not be working in customer service. I am surprised the "vet" or whatever did not step in to correct this behavior, she was sitting right next to tattoo girl when she was lying to me.... Shame on tattoo girl and vet tech read more

We are in town visiting our daughter. Our lab Nala injured her ear, it was sore and swollen. We were concerned and stressed out being away from home with an injured pet. We called the hospital and got an appointment later in the afternoon. Great service at check in and super caring staff. The Dr treated Nala with care and prescribed some meds. The cost was way less than expected. Nala is doing wayyyyyy better today. Definitely recommended and will return if needed in the future! read more

We have been sending our animals to Mountain View to see Dr. Cheryl Chong for a couple of years. She and her staff are professional, kind and compassionate. Unfortunately, not long after bringing my newest edition, Marley, into our family, he took a flying leap off our deck. Needless to say, he broke his leg. Not just an easy break, an avulsion fracture. Dr. Chong gave me options, including doing nothing. However, with a 4 month old puppy, I couldn't bare to let him be lame. So I opted for the surgical repair. Because of the nature of the injury, Dr. Chong brought in an orthopedic surgeon to fix my baby. I am forever grateful that the care Marley received has made all the difference. Marley is a most 9 months old and doing great. We will be seeing the Mountain View staff and Dr. Chong again in a few weeks to neuter Marley. read more

Our dog Gracie has been under Dr Chong's care for 17 years. She's been there for emergencies that ended up not being emergencies. She was very kind. Is Gracie his aged, she's become sensitive to her diet. With the help of allergy tests, we were able to find something that works. She also has a little arthritis in our lower back, and the laser treatment allow us to continue to take walks and avoid using pain medication. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I had the worst experience here. Brought in my cat for a routine blood test,as he had been acting a bit tired and after not allowing me into the treatment room, they brought him out in gasping and obviously in distress. After watching him suffer and fight for his life for 15 minutes I loaded him into my car to try to get him home to help him......an assistant ran after me to demand $300 payment He died in the car on the way home. The following is based on my personal experience with Mountain View Veterinary Hospital. Our 12 year old Blue Tick Coonhound's rear left leg started to swell, her paw looked like it belonged on a St. Bernard, not a coonhound. The paw all the way to the top of her leg was extremely swollen. We were pretty sure she had cut her leg on rusty barbed wire the week earlier, so that was what we suspected, I am not a Veterinarian. I also informed Dr. Lackey that our canine got Rattlesnake vaccinations every year. Dr.Lackey spent 10 to 15 minutes looking the canine over. FOUND NOTHING. Dr. Lackey stated a Ultrasound would be helpful, but then commented they did not have an ultrasound machine in the office. After not being able to make any type of diagnosis, they sold me an anti-inflammatory prescription and sent me home, "If it did not improve, come back in a week" Dr. Lackey stated. I wondered, if they could not diagnose what was wrong during my visit, what made me think they would know more in a week, Were they going back to school to learn more during this time period? With my canine's health being my top priority, I traveled to West Los Angeles to Overland Veterinary Clinic to see Dr. Schwartz. He truly is THE BEST OF THE BEST!!!! In less than 5 minutes, he stated. "Your dog has been bitten by a RATTLESNAKE". Dr. Schwartz then stated, "You know why your dog is still alive". I know it was because Dr. Schwartz suggested we get the dogs yearly rattlesnake vaccinations years back. I asked D. Schwartz how many rattlesnake bites he sees a year, He stated "one or two". If a Veterinarian who rarely sees a Rattlesnake bite on a dog can easily diagnose this bite within a few minutes, How come Dr. Lackey was not able to do so in the heart of rattlesnake country. I never saw a rattlesnake bite my dog, but according to a blood test Overland Veterinary did, rattlesnake toxins were present. No question, The dog was bitten by a rattlesnake. If you truly love your dog, as I assume you do, I would suggest from my personal experience, TAKE YOUR DOG ELSEWHERE. This is not the only Veterinary Office in Bishop, there are two other veterinary offices, not to mention Mammoth. I requested a refund for my office visit to Mountain View Animal Hospital due to the fact they were unable to correctly diagnose the rattlesnake bite, they refused. read more

I have 5 cats and 2 dogs. Dr. Chong is a superb vet. She has always been very caring and professional while taking care of all of them. In fact, one of my dogs is a Rottweiler and he's always very happy to let her examine him. He loves her and the staff. We used to go to another vet in town and he did not like going there at all. Makes me wonder why? I'm reading the reviews, and I came across some negative comments. I must tell you that you're full of it. I came here because their services for yearly shots were a bit cheaper than the other vet in town. My dog has been to the other vet a few times and they took him back, did their thing and brought him back to me. My dog is reactive towards people (rescue), but I am a responsible owner and muzzled him before he was seen. He reacted and the vet just kept saying "he really shouldn't act like this." I was crying partially because I had to help hold him down while he was screaming and partially because i felt like a horrible owner. I can't control what happened in my rescue dogs past and I am doing the best I can. Left me feeling really horrible. The front desk was nice though. Edit: the vet continued to email and call me and gaslight me into feeling like I was a bad owner. In a follow up email she gave an apology toward the end but claimed I "plopped him on the exam table immediately and stepped away" which is not even the reality of what happened. The emails were extremely unprofessional and only further made me feel worse from this experience. read more

Dr. Chong met my Typical Addisons dog and instantly agreed she should be on a daily medication, not just a high dose of a monthly injection. She's very professional and knows Adogs have high stress and need to be in and out of the vets office quickly. She also informed me we should lower the monthly injection to not over medicate my dog and save us a little money. She's wonderful. Other vets in town, wanted to keep my dog at the high dose (based off weight) but this caused her to blow up like a blimp, and was peeing herself in her sleep. This high dose also cost us a little under 250$ a month. Dr. Chong is wonderful and my Adog is doing so much better with her medical treatment plan. I RECOMMEND ALL ADDISONS DOGS GO HERE! read more

They also had a great selection of food and treats. My dog seemed very happy with the treatment he received and the prices were average (reasonable). This place is amazing!! Our dog had a wound on his leg while we were traveling thru HWY 395. We were worried since it looked like a tick burrowed thru his skin. We were trying to call different vets on our way home. Long story short, we were lucky enough to stop by Mountain View. They we're courteous over the phone, and even better in person! The doc looked at our dog, Monte, and gave us the best news that it wasn't a tick bite, just a superficial wound. Facility was clean and spacious too! I wish they were our vet at home! Took my kitty Maggie in after what seemed like a fight with another cat. The place is spotless and welcoming, which is why I prefer coming here. The staff were incredibly nice and caring with Maggie, even though he was clearly nervous and fussy. Cheryl Chong is very sweet and kind and makes everything easy to understand. My cat and I were in and out within 20-35 minutes, and I was pleasantly surprised with the bill as well. A few days later, his "war wound" is definitely looking so much better than when I took him in. Dr. Chang consistently missed major common diagnoses-es- like she did in my dog resulting in his extended period of extreme pain and ultimately his death a few months later. When I told other folks locally about the common diagnoses she completely misses- bone cancer- they said that that occurs regularly and that they had heard that she misses a lot. In my case, she couldn't be bothered because she was leaving for vacation. Boo hiss. I miss my dog. read more
