This was my very first trip away from my rabbit. I was really fortunate to find NPLH because Jenna not only has a lot of experience with rabbit care but she also owns rabbits. Jenna provided above and beyond service than what I had expected. The website is extremely easy to navigate and set up your service request. Jenna is very prompt in communication and was easy to get ahold of. I was really worried about my rabbit being this was the first time I was away from her and I was concerned she would act up (which she did) but Jenna was kind enough to send me photos of her and handled my rabbit's antics with care. She provides great tips about their health and often does extra things I never ask nor expect while she cares for them. I trust her completely with them, and I am highly protective over them since losing my first two to the parvo virus. I've been using NPLH for a few months now and have been very happy with their services. It's easy to book online and select the dates and services you need. The prices are reasonable, comparable with other services I've seen around and independent sitters I've used in the past. Once they've assigned a primary sitter they come to your home for a meet and greet. Samantha has been checking in on my two cats during our last handful of out-of-town travels. She's very friendly and diligent about sending me an update whenever she's there to let me know how they're doing. Sitters are also able to bring in mail, adjust the AC if you've forgotten, water plants, etc, which is great peace of mind. On any occasion where the primary sitter can't make it they schedule in someone else, and on an occasion where that happened for me I was able to meet the second sitter beforehand so everything went smoothly. They keep a key on file and also offer a $20 service if you lock yourself out to save yourself from locksmith fees, which is a nice added bonus. We've used No Place Like Home for our cat sitting needs on multiple occasions. I love them! Let me go through all the ways they rock: First of all, personal attention. Jenna, the owner, makes sure to address every communication to the company personally. I've texted with her, spoken with her- she's just great. She really works hard to run a tight ship to make sure your animals are cared for. The sitters are all animal lovers, and are often also employed in other areas of animal care (vet techs, in school for veterinary stuff, animal foster parents, etc) They know what they're doing. Secondly, ease of use. It's easy to get set up with them- they have an online system for visit requests and you typically do a meet and greet with your primary sitter prior to their first visit. Subsequent visits are very easy to schedule online, and Jenna is quick to let you know the visit has been approved. You can use a hide-a-key at your home, or have No Place Like Home keep a key, which is great because if you get locked out of your house at any time, they'll help you get back in and they're cheaper than hiring a locksmith. Since they're bonded and insured, they're very secure. Thirdly- but definitely not in that order- peace of mind. I know my grumpy old diabetic cat is well cared for when he's in the hands of my sitter. They'll text you (every day, if you like!) just to let you know how the visit went, if everything was good, or if anything's out of the ordinary. I love knowing that I can be in contact with my sitter. They also do basic housesitting stuff as part of the deal- bring out or bring in your trash bins, water your plants, etc. They'll even give your pet meds. This is the only in-home pet sitting service I will use. Jenna is an experienced RVT and pet owner, and she is meticulous about caring for your animals the right way. Daily updates and pictures are a nice addition, and she doesn't charge extra for additional pets. That's important if you have multiple animals and need someone with them overnight. Every time I've come home from a trip, my house has been clean, the animal dishes are hand washed and the beds are made. We just used No Place Like Home (NPLH) for the third time, but we will not use them again. We would not recommend anyone use them, and here is our story. We chose NPLH because we thought it would be better for our aging dogs to be taken care of at home instead of boarding them. We have a seven year old Lab and a thirteen year old Beagle that doesn't get around very well and is hard of hearing. We had used NPLH two times before for two day dog sittings. This time our vacation was for seven days. Everything seemed to be going well; we received nightly updates from Carla our dog sitter. We arrived home around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, our eighth day away from home. When we arrived home we went straight to the backyard to see how our dogs were doing and found an empty yard. We texted Carla to let her know that we were home and our dogs were missing, but she never responded. About thirty minutes later she, and her mom, came walking around the corner where they had parked their car. We thought this was strange because we are three houses from the corner and it doesn't make any sense why they would park that far away and out of sight. There is no problem with parking in our neighborhood and she has parked in front of our house on other occasions. When Carla and her mom arrived they did not acknowledge that they had received our text message, acting like they just arrived for a schedule visit to feed the dogs. We told them that our dogs were missing and Carla and her mom acted like this was the first time they had heard this information. Carla then stated that she fed the dogs later the night before (10 p.m.) due to her other job running late. She was sure that she had secured the gate. The gate latch sometimes is stiff, so Carla knew that it was important to double check the latch. We live in new construction, so some things like the latch may need adjusting over time. Carla then walked several houses away to call her boss, Jenna. Carla's mother then seemed to try to take over, she called Clovis animal control but it was after hours and they had not received any dogs fitting our dog's description. We had never met Carla's mother before and did not know why she was at the house with Carla. Her mom gave us her card and stated she had a lot of contacts with pet rescue and if we could send her a picture of the dogs she could get the word out to look for them. She also told us that Carla was dealing with personal problems and that is why she was not talking to us. Jenna, the owner of NPLH, called me and said she was sorry that our dogs were missing and asked us if we had a yard service, anyone else that would come to the house or if it was possible that someone may have stolen the dogs. We don't have yard service and I don't know why anyone would want a cranky beagle or a lazy lab. We discussed the possibility that Carla had not shut the gate properly due to the fact that she was running late the previous night when she fed the dogs at 10 p.m. and that with the stiff latch she may have forgotten to check that it was secured before she left. Jenna said that if the latch is not reliable then this is our responsibility and it didn't sound like they were liable or that it was Carla's fault that the dogs were missing. At this time we were not trying to find fault, we were just trying to piece together a timeline so that we could find out where our dogs were. At no time did Carla or her mother offer to physically look for the dogs. Jenna said she might be able to look for them the next day if she was in the area. Carla's mother told us that she had to take Carla home because she was having a bad day and this was too much for her. Carla and her mother left around 7:20 p.m. They never volunteered to walk around the neighborhood to help us look for the dogs. We walked our neighborhood until it was too dark to see. We talked to a neighbor who said that someone had been walking around the neighborhood earlier with a black lab that they had found and were looking for the owners. Unfortunately that person did not leave any contact info so nobody knew where he lived. This morning Jenna called and told us that a lab and beagle were turned in to animal control. We called animal control and they were able to scan the dogs and identified them as ours. We picked them up this afternoon when they opened and paid the $90 fee. I let Jenna know through text that we had retrieved our dogs and we were not happy with their service and especially not happy that we had to pay to retrieve our dogs when we think this is their fault, I still have not heard back from her. My account was charged the full amount ($144) for the dog sitting service, including yesterday when the dogs were missing. I know accidents can happen, we all make mistakes, I don't feel that Carla or Jenna handled this situation well. I did not feel like they were concerned for our pets. They were more concerned about casting blame. Zero stars!!!! read more

I am a 63 year old professor at Cal State. I have used this service twice, at the recommendation of the people from whom I adopted my rescue cats at Cat House on the Kings. My girls are extremely shy; the sitter made no attempt to coax them out when she came for the 'get-acquainted' visit, but she might not have been successful in any case. The first time I used them, they insisted on four visits during the week I was going to be gone. Fine. I said nothing about the plant that died, but did mention I was not happy that the sitter appeared not to have replaced or used clean bowls for the girls when she fed them. I based my opinion on the fact that I had left out 6 additional clean bowls, and they were not used. I was told that she had washed the bowls in play and re-used them. A strange choice, but maybe. The second time I tried booking, I was encouraged to extend the visit to 30 minutes, so the sitter had ample time to put food in the bowls, refill the water, empty the litter, and water some plants on the front porch. I said fine. Upon my return, there was less than an inch of water in the huge bowl I use. I paid the bill without complaint, but sent an email to Jenna remarking on the lack of water, and sending her a picture of exactly what the bowl looks like after two days elapse without refilling, which is the time period at play in their second job, and which is what the bowl would have looked like had it been refilled. There was no water on the floor; no water stains indicating that the cats had spilled the water. I then booked them again for this week. Instead, I received an email from Jenna telling me that she had eliminated me from the database because I was never going to be satisfied. She had given no thought to the return of my key, and when I explained that I needed it back immediately in order to make other provisions, she at first said she would return it when she got around to it. Upon second thought, and an awareness, I think, of her legal position if she withheld my property like that, she made a special trip to return it. Unprofessional to an extent seldom seen in more mature hands. I would give them no stars were it possible. read more

Corey takes care of my dogs while I am out of town. She keeps me in the loop by sending me pictures of my babies and letting me know of any issues. I have a boxer that is pretty high energy even at 9 years old. Some people cannot handle his boxer ways ( jumping high and neediness). Corey gives Cash lots of attention and formed a bond with him. I also have another dog Lilly who is a rescue who was previously abused. She is very skittish and leery of strangers. I let Corey know the best way to handle her was to avoid giving her attention unless she approaches. Within the first visit of me not being there Lilly was asking to be pet and loving up on her.
