I was delighted to see Alex Huang as he helped with my mom's funeral previously. He explained my options regarding the funeral and worked within my budget. He always replied to my messages in a timely manner. He really took the stress out of this difficult situation. At the funeral, I was pleasantly surprised by the Chinese calligraphy brushes and the brush stand as part of decoration near the guestbook as my father loved Chinese calligraphy. The place was beautifully set up. My father looked great!! Alex conducted the service in both English and Chinese so all of our guests were taken care of. The service went well. Well, this is one promise I wish I had broken. From the strangely weird answering service folks to the call returned at close to midnight, this was off-putting. Explicit wishes were for the basic cremation with no service, as stated in his will. Ushered into a crappy little consult room and seated on the hardest of chairs, the 1.5 hour appointment was ... well, one sales pitch after the other. Really, no coffin. How many times must I insist? Don't read this if you wish a lavish, 10k send-off. For us, the basic had been agreed upon. The $95 cardboard would be fine, as there was no viewing, and cremation would burn anything else. The salesman had the audacity to comment that most men don't fit "comfortably" into the cardboard coffin. The truth is, most folks do fit. And you don't need to spend to the limit of the CPP Death Benefit. Jeez, these are sleaze tactics. I know I spent under $2500. CRA is not going to audit me. And the on-site manager, wishing to do the female bonding thing, instantly warmed me with "you like tea? So do I!" Yikes. Sales 101. It wasn't just the churlish salesman. My appointment reminder sent by email stated the appointment time as 2am. The paper work was filled with typos. Just because I wasn't the top customer of the day, don't be childish and vengeful and make silly little errors. PS - still waiting for my new BFF to return my phone call three days later. Tea? If you wish good compassionate service, call someone else.

I'm usually up on the podium saying something, trying to give words of praise and hope to those left here on earth. Most amazingly I get to see the connections reunited and rekindled and relationships repurposed. The staff here have been welcome and it seems that each time I have come, I get to know them a little bit more. They have a tough job. They sell their service to those in need, but like all things, sometimes business is hard to mix with a sudden loss of a loved one. Emotions can be high and feelings are sensitive. It's hard to mix this as a business offering their service and asking for money in exchange. I know some people may not take lightly to these challenges because of this. However, if you can think past that and see the good that they do. Day in and day out....... I have respect for this funeral home and admiration for their staff. One of whom I will miss. I'm giving them 5 stars not for the costs of services, but for the services they offer. I couldn't afford to have my funeral here. For me, it's a wooden box to be cremated in and no ceremony. We were assigned to the very incompetent Larry D. Thompson. First of all, we were forced to get their very expensive catering services saying that they don't allow outside food in their premises. The food was awful, the chow mein was so salty, it was just thrown into waste. Secondly, on the viewing day, there was no guest book provided. When asked, Larry said we didn't ask for it. That's a very basic item that should be part of the funeral services package. Then, we were not asked about the "thank you" cards. We ended up designing our own and have them printed. These are services that we are not familiar with. It's the task of Larry to present these things to us. Finally and worst of all, we ordered for some cross pendants to put some ashes of my deceased husband. Before I picked up my husband's ashes from this funeral home, I texted Larry to make sure he had saved some for the ordered pendants. He confirmed he saved some already, only to be advised later and after my husband was interred, that there was no ashes saved for the pendants. This is very disrespectful to the dead and a very unreliable service considering they're are dealing with a grieving family who relied on them to provide the best final services for my husband. Now, the only item that can keep him close to us is no longer available because of this very irresponsible funeral director Larry Thompson.

The staff gave my 3 year old a bear. That part was pretty funny... he didn't want one at first and after the mass.. another staff approached and tried to give him a bear. At the burial sight, a canopy and chairs were set up. After the farewell, they closed up the burial site, added the grass back on and moved the flowers. The whole process was seamless Apparently, grandma already had her burial plan all set up so the funeral home followed it to the dot.

They must express a lot of condolences being the only ones who place caskets in the mausoleum, as it's an enormously huge building, so good on them. No funeral is going to be enjoyable, but they made it as painless as possible. The mausoleum is also a beautiful, tranquil quiet place in itself.

The email from JP, Pre-arrangement & Immediate Needs Special Family Service Advisor (a new title) contained "Important Document to Sign" and the first passage was "Thank you for placing your trust in us to assist with the final arrangements ...... .....". This is outrageous as we don't trust or have any confidence in JP, nor agree to sign any document for JP to get away with the accountability issue developed after a more than 15 month wait for the marker of our beloved mother to be processed. What is the reason for procrastination? On September 3, 2026, my husband and I were visiting the Garden of My Mom at Ocean View and noticed that there were red and blue flags on the plot right above my mom's plot. The top left corner of my mother's plot was sharing with the new plot immediately above. At the time of purchasing the plot in June 2025, we specifically asked about the surrounding area and there was no mention from JP in her response about the corner sharing plot until the markers appeared on Sep 3. We used up all our life-savings to buy from Ocean View a Home for my beloved mother to RIP, and we definitely deserved an honest disclosure. The management at Ocean View hasn't been able to delve into the matter and find out why it is taking 15 months for the marker order to be processed, nor could we accept the suggestion by the manager that the memento item we hadn't received was just a show piece on the invoice so we were asked to ignore it. "The Portrait of my Mother" has never been delivered to the doorstep of our home as was claimed. This is a matter of "Black and White" but all we have received is twisting and turning of the truth. Who is going to taking accountability and who is worthy of trust? By revealing details of the truth and our experiences with Ocean View, hopefully justice will eventually prevail. My beloved mother will finally RIP after such a tedious ordeal and long wait. At all costs, we will fight against the injustice and make it right. Sep 7, 2026
