I would definitely not recommend using this Funeral Home. As other reviewers have mentioned, they do not return calls or emails. They seem to go out of their way to NOT assist with anything unless you chase after them. Our family has a dozen plots here and I will be informing them of the unacceptable service. In the future we will certainly not do any further business with them. I also mentioned my experience with some church members and none of them had any thing positive to say about their dealings with them. They also do not seem to know exact costs or inform you when there are price increases, which are substantial. read more

called them today to ask pricing to just cremate and infant, no serice, was told 995 approx, i then asked that include picking them up from hospital then all of a sudden I am told 6000 dollars. WHAT??? I was appalled you have got to be joking. Ive used them before so this is why I called to inquire and was taken back by the lack of sympathy for one and for trying to prey on a grieving family. When I buried my mother in 2022 i paid a little more than 6000 for her casket and outside service, the plot we already had with my father, and she had already paid for the opening of the grave. I thought that was expensive but to just cremate an infant you want 6000 dollars.??!!! There was no mistake as I repeated myself 3 times what I wanted and that was the price. Go elsewhere people. We found a place that does it for free for babies in the NICU that was given to us by the social worker at the hospital. Or there is a place called Just cremation in aldergrove who are extremely better priced than this place if you are looking for only a cremation and no services by the funeral home. read more

Location: convenient to get to by bus or car. Well cared for cemetery grounds. Service: Funeral director: was colder than ice or the dead bodies he works with--it is completely unacceptable!! He would purposely omit or not offer any services that were included but kept up-selling services that cost us even more. It was clear he was trying to do the absolute least amount of work, gain the most sales for the company and save the company money by NOT offering the services/items already included and paid for by our family. Service by the staff in charge of helping to create the Marker, even worse!!!!! He rarely if ever return our emails or phone calls, we chase & chase & chase & chase & chase him to no avail. Again, like other reviewers, it's absolutely unacceptable, insensitive, unaccountable that families who are enduring the most traumatic, sorrowful and/or tragic experiences in their lives are treated so poorly by these so-called "compassionate" staff. Disgusting..... Reception staff: they are the only staff you can call, actually reach and whom genuinely seem to want to help. Incredible staff at this cemetery. Very caring, sympathetic, and respectful. When we were driving in through the gates towards my dad's burial site, I noticed the cemetery workers stop what they were doing and bow their heads to acknowledge our arrival. I have been trying for a few weeks now to get an answer about putting a marker on my grandparents grave. I finally got a call from someone who said she would send me information. She sent me a page which had *nothing* to do with what I asked and has ignored subsequent emails. In short, this is such a big business, they don't want my business. My husband and I chose our niches at Ocean View a few year ago and felt that the service provided by Jennifer Pearce was just above and beyond. My mom fell ill again and we knew that we had to do some preplanning, otherwise we would all be at such a loss as to what to do. Thank goodness we did, because my mom passed away (too soon) after we did the preplanning. I don't know how I stayed so calm throughout the entire process, but I did, and I think I do owe a lot of that to Jennifer and her team of amazing, hard working people. From the get-go, the very first call to the funeral home hours after my mom passed away, to the end, the interment of my mom, in her beautiful urn, into her forever resting place, I felt that I was not alone and always had someone to turn to for answers. Jennifer, who handles the cemetery side of things, is just so warm, professional, kind, and thoughtful. We really felt like we were treated like royalty at every meeting. Tyler, who handled the funeral side of things, was just as wonderful and patient. He really cared about what we cared about, and made the entire funeral service seamless, beautiful, and memorable. Jennifer and Tyler are also super knowledgeable about Chinese customs (way more than we were) and really helped us plan/think of things that we never would have thought of. They have both been doing this for a long time and you can tell because they pretty much knew exactly what we were looking for, and I'm so glad that my mom was taken care of so well by such wonderful, respectful, and smart people. I know death is not something we all like to think about, but it's inevitable and being in denial is not going to help the people love when you are gone. I highly, highly, absolutely, without a doubt recommend preplanning your final good bye and resting place. And I equally, whole-heartedly, vehemently recommend Oceanview and Dignity Memorial (count your lucky stars if you get Jennifer Pearce and Tyler Zonnenberg). read more

If your planning on not spending thousands of dollars on services do not select this Funeral Home. Recently went through the process with this funeral home on a budget and it's taken over 2 months to go from cremation to internment. the litany of excuses and errors are too lengthy and ridiculous to list here. Suffice to say that when I buried my parents, who had funds for a very nice funeral, it took a matter of days and service was with a smile and cookies. Shameful Ocean View that your sole focus is on the bottom line, surely you can treat your clients in a more equitable and respectful fashion during one of the most difficult times a family can experience. read more

To start things off, I'd like to point out that I'm a average Yelp reviewer and to top that off, I'm also someone who works in the floral industry, so that is why I've decided to review a memorial park. Oceanview is one of the 2 big memorial parks we have in the greater Vancouver area owned by a company called the Dignity Group; the other one being Forestlawn. Dignity is a funeral service company that runs most of the funeral services in Vancouver and always provides excellent to all their clients and families. My grandfather was just entombed in the mausoleum here. The workers were fantastic, making some of the technical aspects as seamless as possible(ie using a cherry picker type thing for lifting the casket up to the level my grandad was being laid to rest). Even though they were workers donned in overalls, they still expressed their condolences to the quite large group of family we had there. They must express a lot of condolences being the only ones who place caskets in the mausoleum, as it's an enormously huge building, so good on them. No funeral is going to be enjoyable, but they made it as painless as possible. The mausoleum is also a beautiful, tranquil quiet place in itself. read more

Quite busy today, a Chinese tradition at this time of year to pay respects. Have been coming here for decades, and other than minor complaints such as not maintaining the flower pots as good as they used to, weeds growing more and more, there's lots of nice scenery here, especially compared to the HK ones where it's up in the mountains. Clean washrooms at the central building, though no hot water. Handy water taps throughout, as well as specific areas to dump incense, etc. As usual, always best to come earlier for best parking. read more

Absolutely horrible service here. It's ridiculous when they work in such a sensitive industry and cannot even deal with these issues properly. The headstone that we had ordered for my grandfather was apparently not able to be made by the manufacturer anymore (although we just selected from their catalogue) and Oceanview did not even bother to tell us AT ALL. We only found out 4 months later when we went to visit the grave and noticed that we couldn't find the stone!! They wouldn't even have told us if we didn't go and ask about it ourselves. They would've left it stone-less forever. So irresponsible, I don't even understand how this could happen. It's not even about how much the stone costs but how they can just leave someone's grave empty like that. I have no respect for the people who dealt with this. read more

Ocean View Funeral Home & Burial Park is probably the nicest cemetery here in British Columbia. I have actually never gotten the chance to experience the funeral home here at Ocean View as all the funeral services were held at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel. But as for the Burial Service, many of my relatives and friends were peacefully buried here. It is such a relaxing and peaceful environment with a flat even ground. The mausoleum is also very big as it has been expanded over the past years. In the future I hope to be able to be afford a plot here as it is such an amazing resting place. read more

One of the largest grave site in the lower mainland. I don't have anyone here (thank god), however, my best friend and I like to walk by and learn and imagine about those who have passed. It is very well maintained and well managed. It saddens me that the older plots don't have colorful flowers on a regular basis, they're now forgotten. I find it pretentious some of the plots have have their own fenced gardens and mini benches, very snobby and upper class. It makes me roll my eyes. It is a large plot and a peaceful walk in the day time. Good short cut on the way home walking from the mall. read more

These people were positively awful to work with! If my aunt had not pre-purchased a cremation plan with them, I would have found someone else ASAP. First, they informed us that there was no way they could retrieve the body from the hospital where she passed for five days!!!! THEN, they said they couldn't even possibly meet with us until four days later!!! When I explained that we wanted to have the service in five days because everyone had come from far away to be with her and say "Goodbye" and it made no sense to send them home only to have them come back when it was convenient for the funeral home, I was told there just wasn't anything they could do for us. When I asked if they could even make some of their "wonderful" added services available to us, like placing the obit or hosting a webpage, I was told that that would be impossible to do until they had the office meeting that they were unable to have with us until until days later! They even charge $250-500 more if you would like to have the internment on the weekend so more people can attend!!! My advice to you - find someone else! read more

My experience with this company has been horrible. This organization is owned by US parent company Dignity Funeral Services. There is no dignity with this organization. They write that that their "compassionate professionals and expertise in funeral arrangements and burial services, make our funeral homes and cemeteries a wise choice for you and your family." If you have any choice do not deal with these people. I didn't have a choice as my mother and father wished to have their cremated remains buried with my grandparents. My father's graveside service was held in December. I will just say that the whole experience was so upsetting. Upon arrival at the cemetery we were asked to walk back up to the office just so they could put a tag on the bottom of my father's urn. Our director was of no assistance during the graveside ceremony. When I walked up to the graveside I was shocked to see that they had dug the hole for the remains in the wrong spot. Before leaving the area I tried to talk to the director who did not provide any explanation or solution. It was a very kind grounds keeper who attempted to help. I spoke to the manager a few days after the service and was told that he would get back to me the next week. To date I have heard nothing from him despite calling back after the new year and leaving another message for him to call me. If you have any choice do not use this or any other Dignity organization. They are about the money not people. The death of a loved one is a very stressful event do not allow these people to make it even worse. read more
