After a few sessions I asked him if he thought I had it (the whole reason of me seeking therapy). He said only a psychiatrist can diagnose OCD (which is false). I did more research on my own and asked if he did ERP. He didn't even know what it was. He overshares in sessions, frequently mentioning his own past and trauma. I think I know more about his life than he knows about mine. When I started talking about safety, he said out of a scale of 0 to 5 (5 being feeling completely safe) he said he "never gets above a 4" because he's "been through too much." Which completely obliterated any faith I had that he might be a safe container. Why the hell would I feel safe sharing with someone who themselves doesn't feel safe?? He kept on saying he had treated people for "a number of years." When I asked how long that was he said 4. I wouldn't trust him to treat any number of things on his profile. He is more limited as a therapist than he markets himself. I wouldn't recommend him and I have zero interest in shopping for other therapists at this practice. I would have given him one star but his receptionist was very sweet, responsive, and made it easy to make and reschedule appointments on the phone and by email.

He is incredibly attentive and actually listens -- even when what I'm trying to explain doesn't come out perfectly. He has never once made me feel judged, dismissed, or like I don't know what I'm talking about. Dr. Chong treats me with genuine respect, and that alone sets him apart. When other doctors gave up on me, he didn't. He took the time to understand my situation and stayed committed to helping me find answers. I truly appreciate him and the care he provides. If you're looking for a doctor who is compassionate, patient, and willing to really listen, I highly recommend Dr. Chong at St. Alls family Medicine.

Shae Johnson, DO - Family Medicine…read more.. ...and his staff have absolutely failed in their ability to properly diagnose and treat my wife who is now in the ER in Las Vegas. Thank you so much for creating this life changing tragedy my wife and I have had to endure these last 6 months... if not the rest of our lives! She is in critical condition. This situation was so simple to avoid had St. Al's hired competent physicians that could understand labs results and dial a telephone. My wife pleaded with Shae regarding her debilitating symptoms and condition. We are so grateful for the Urgent Care Doctor and his translator in Vegas. Within 3 minutes and $50, we were made aware of her chronic illness that had persisted for 7 months. The good news is that she may recover given her deserved treatment in the hospital.

She is knowledgeable and professional, yet still welcoming and down to Earth. Her office is in St Als... an unfortunate circumstance that I won't hold against her. She takes the time to get to know you, while seeming to take a truthful interest in your well being. After not having insurance for 5 years, I had a host of issues, needed surgery, meds and all the scans. It has taken a year and each time I go back in, she is prepared to get the next step knocked out. I am grateful to have found Yalena! I would hate to have had to navigate referral processes and had to repeatedly explain my issues. Thankfully, I haven't had to. Yalena is an advocate for my health and always has put my best interests first. Other pros: Body positive professional! Knowledgeable, but willing to research and admit when she's not sure. Caring Convenient location, right off Emerald Cons: St. Al's: monopolized and cookie cutter medical Very busy lady... even more during covid.
