At my very first appointment with Doc Holly my husband and I explained to her that our boy Texas had been diagnosed with Idopathic poly-immuno arthropothy and he has very special needs and if she wasn't up for it we understood and she said she understood and was willing to work with us and his internal med vet. We had Doc Holly's office clean Texas teeth and a few days later the left side of his head and face were drooping, we took him back to her office and she said he had Bell's palsy and it may take weeks to get better. Then he got sick and wouldn't eat so we called Doc Holly again and they said they couldn't squeeze him in so we went to WSU... turns out he didn't have Bell's palsy, when Doc Holly's office cleaned his teeth they hit a nerve. That coupled with not being able to eat and his immune system issues it was more than his body could tolerate and we lost him. I think what bothers me the most is their lack of concern and compassion. We were very honest and open about his needs from the start. I don't know if they knew they hit/damaged a nerve while cleaning his teeth and that's why she said it was Bells palsy or if it was an honest mistake and they really didnt know. What I do know without a doubt is that when we needed them most they let us down and they couldn't care less. I will never get over their lack of concern or compassion

This last weekend, I was very disappointed that I could not reach them when it mattered most. My sweet Sadie was diagnosed last Monday, a week ago today, with lymphoma. She was put on prednisone, which needs to be given with food. Friday, we went to the vet to get anti-nausea meds because she was having a hard time eating. By Saturday we could not get her to eat and she was miserable. We ended up in the ER vet because Prairie does not have an on-call person we could even just talk to. So, there we were in an unfamiliar place with a Dr unfamiliar to Sadie and us, having to make the most difficult decision without even the opportunity to speak with our vet. I understand vets can't be open all days, but I do believe someone should be reachable for these horrible situations that don't always occur during business hours. You either care about our fur babies or you don't. That care shouldn't stop on the weekends or only be shown when it's convenient. I'm talking about a phone call here....not an office visit. Nothing is convenient about end-of-life circumstances. So, I guess I'll settle on a "3" for the rating. Day-to-day, fantastic...weekends totally out of reach. Unacceptable in my opinion and they totally failed Sadie when she needed them most.

I almost got scammed into getting paying THOUSANDS of dollars for needless dental work for my dog! Despicable! I will be reporting this to the American Veterinarian Medical Association! I will never go to this clinic ever again! IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE: I had to learn this the hard way, but NO accredited Veterinary association recommends non-anesthesia dental cleanings. Only an anesthesia cleaning can thoroughly clean a pet's mouth and detect all potential issues before they become big issues. Beware of any veterinarian who offers non-anesthesia cleanings!!

The anger is obvious to the point of being revengeful. Very sad. Our experience at Alpine Animal Hospital has been quite the opposite. They have cared for our pets for over 25 years and we wouldn't dream of taking them elsewhere. We've had our pets cared for by all of the doctors there and have NEVER complained about their service. Dr. Bailey is our primary doctor. She has never failed in any diagnosis, in recognizing the cause for behaviors our pets might be experiencing, or with any recommendations for their care. We are and will continue to be forever grateful for all of the folks at Alpine Animal Hospital. They are the best!

I brought my dog in on Friday for an ear infection. During the exam, the doctor looked in her other ear and discovered a grass seed very close to her eardrum. They attempted to remove it but were unsuccessful, so I was told she would need to be sedated to safely remove it. I dropped her off this morning at 8:00 AM. The tech went over her paperwork and needed my signature. As I went through the list of charges, I noticed there was a charge for anti-nausea medication. On Friday, I was specifically told that if I brought her in Monday with no food in her system (for 12 hrs), the anti-nausea medication would not be necessary. So I questioned why it was included on the estimate today. I would expect the charges to reflect what I was previously told. I was also told by the tech that someone would call me by 12:30 PM to let me know how the procedure went. I did not receive a call until 1:50 PM, as shown in my call log. When they finally called, I was told the procedure went well and the grass seed was successfully removed. However, I was then told that her heart rate was still a little low and they recommended giving her a reversal medication for the sedation, which would cost an additional $61. I told the lady I wanted to make a quick phone call and would call her right back. Eight minutes later, I called back to ask what her heart rate was. I was then told her heart rate was 50 and improving, and that they no longer felt the reversal medication was necessary. My biggest concern is the communication surrounding this. If her heart rate was already improving within those eight minutes, why wasn't I contacted to let me know that the additional medication was no longer necessary? Instead, I was initially presented with an additional $61 charge and had to call back myself to find out that the situation had changed. I understand that medical situations can change and that sedation carries risks, but as a pet owner, I expect to be clearly informed throughout the entire process and if something changes. I understand that veterinary care is expensive, and I am absolutely willing to pay for necessary care for my dog. What I'm not okay with is unclear communication and feeling like I have to question whether recommended services are actually necessary. After almost a year of bringing my dog here, I expected much better communication and transparency. While I'm thankful that the grass seed was successfully removed and that the procedure itself went well, today's experience has completely changed my trust in this clinic. Unfortunately, I will no longer be taking my dog to Alpine for future treatment.

My cat…read moreTallulah had a really bad fall from the top of our closet that resulted in her jaw being dislocated and fracturing her left top canine. I was quite nervous to put Lu under as I have heard horror stories of people putting their pets under anesthesia many times BUT Dr. White has a different method when putting pets under that has been pretty beneficial for geriatric pets and pets with heart conditions. Lu's surgery was fairly quick and done beautifully. When she woke up from the anesthesia it only took her about an hour to be back to her normal self! (Every animal "comes to" in their own time so don't be worried if it takes a little longer!) After Lu's surgery, Dr. White even cleaned her teeth and had her nails clipped. Dr. White was so kind in explaining after care, what was normal to expect, and was overall such a sweet and genuine person. I cannot recommend her enough. When we arrived, the waiting room was empty and we were taken back to a room fairly quickly. From there, everything fell apart. We then sat in that room for an extended period while multiple other cases were brought in and seen ahead of us, with no communication, no updates, and no reassessment. It felt like once we were placed in a room, we were effectively forgotten. I made it very clear to staff that our dog has an extremely high pain tolerance--including a history that would make most dogs shut down long before showing pain--and that if she is vocalizing and guarding, something is seriously wrong. That concern didn't seem to change anything. We understand triage. We are not asking to be seen before critical cases. But there is a difference between triage and complete lack of communication or interim care. At a minimum, an emergency hospital should: * Reassess patients waiting in rooms * Communicate realistic expectations * Provide some level of pain management for animals in obvious distress None of that happened. We left with the impression that unless your pet is actively dying, you can expect to sit--unseen and unmanaged--for hours. That's not an acceptable standard for an emergency facility.

I was upset and unfamiliar with the process, which made the experience more stressful and caused some delays. To be clear, my frustration was directed at the situation and my daughter, not the facility. Despite my attitude, the staff handled everything professionally and never allowed my frustration to affect the quality of care they provided. My second experience occurred when my daughter's dog got loose. He was taken to Companion, and thankfully they posted him on their website. Because of that, we were able to locate him quickly and bring him home. Once again, the staff was professional, kind, and helpful throughout the process. My final experience was when I needed to surrender another one of my daughter's cats. During the intake process, I appreciated all the questions they asked to ensure the cat would be matched with the best possible new family. It was an emotional experience for me, and when I started crying, a staff member comforted me with a hug. Their empathy and compassion made it much easier to leave him there knowing he would be cared for. He was adopted within about a week, which made me incredibly happy. Because of these experiences, I will continue to use and support Companion's services. Every person I have met there has been wonderful. They are not only professional but also compassionate, caring, and trustworthy. Their staff consistently makes difficult situations easier, and I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of their services.
