This is the third bad incident that I have had here. This place is The Good, The Bad and the Ugly: THE GOOD: Great vets that care about the animals and the quality of of their work. THE BAD: The constant "up sale" on every visit! THE UGLY: The front office staff, who lie when they mess up and drop the ball. So I left a negative review and the vet sent me a book of an email in response to it and the negative survey. Let me explain better below for the poor review: The lack of professionalism with this animal clinic is astounding. I filled out a survey and got a rude long response back from the vet. Quite similar to the responses left on negative reviews for both Yelp and Google. It is worthwhile to review the negative reviews/response on both platforms. Back story of my cat: she's about 8 years old, was formally feral and I tamed her, very quiet and shy. She had a melting ulcer in one eye which was fixed by an eye specialist. She can see shadows out of it. The other eye had several glaucoma and was removed. Overall she's healthy and she feels safe with me. 1st of all my cat had severe glaucoma. The vet told me she had to Google it because she wasn't sure what it was. Then they had 3 options-glaucoma and cancer being the most prominent options. (The vet's response was we never Google things! Well... Then why did you say those exact words?) 2nd of all my cat is one eyed and her sense of smell is diminished. She needs to be talked to and if she isn't and is drug out of her kennel she will pee. This is exactly what happened. I was forced to sit in the lobby while they hauled my cat off without being allowed to sit in the room with her to help get her out of the kennel. The vet informed me that my cat had peed prior to coming into the lobby which is not true. If she had, I would have let them know before they took her. 3rd of all they caked on the dry shampoo to clean the cat pee. I took out my cat from her carrier and it was caked on thick. I was frustrated that they also didn't ask prior to using it if it was ok. Some cats might have reactions to certain products and it should be consulted with the owner prior to use. 4th of all the eye specialist only charged me $33 for an eye pressure check (35 with tax). In the email sent back after taking the survey, the vet listed out several prices and told me that I was charged over $200 by the eye specialist while theirs was only $67. This is simply not true. The eye specialist was cheaper and didn't charge the fees that the vet tried to tell me that they did. Furthermore I did express the desire to know the results at the visit and told the receptionist I was displeased with the behavior of the vet tech, the overall running of the establishment and would be changing vets. They just told me that they wouldn't disclose the eye pressure results (not stating it was apparently policy.... Just that they wouldn't) and I had to wait for the eye specialist to contact me. The receptionist stated she would send out the record when I found a new vet. Previously they disclosed the pressure before the eye was removed so it concerned me they didn't right away again. All in all, the first visit I really liked them, but it went downhill after a couple bad experiences on 2 occasions. To also be dismissed as lack of communication because the owner didn't realize this was going on is a bit interesting. When I came in and asked questions to the receptionists about why the vet techs and vets weren't more communicative or how pushy the receptionist was while I was checking out (not letting me verify that I had the correct eye drop medication prior to check out.... Not answering questions... Just going ohhhh really). Um no. It's your staff's behavior and them not notifying you. read more

I would like to update my review as I've had time to reflect on this entire situation; I would like to start off by saying whoever is in charge of commenting on the reviews on this page is super disrespectful & unprofessional. They left this long comment under this review and made comments about suicide rates for veterinary service providers. Extremely unnecessary, next they went through our records and made it all public knowledge in their comment. They then had someone whether it was themselves or someone else go onto my personal social media and attack me in one of my posts comment sections. I have had multiple encounters with this clinic where I do not feel like I received adequate services. There was one occasion where we asked multiple times when to bring our dog back in for his shot that they said needed to be done within a year of starting the vaccine series and we couldn't get a straight answer or a good time frame so we could schedule our time around that vaccine. Next when we recently got a new puppy and had tried to schedule an appointment an employee told my husband they would not schedule an appt cause they assumed the puppy had received vaccines even though my husband tried telling them employee the puppy had not yet received vaccines. The last call I made regarding my dogs medication was frustrating, I had not received any notification my dog was due for an appointment, my husband and I live very busy lives both working full time and it's hard to keep track of some things. I did not know they would not bridge my dogs medication until the appointment we had scheduled I was afraid for my dog to go without this medication because he had been on it for a very long time. I was not aggressive on the phone, I am not an aggressive person ever. Especially because I understood it was not that girl on the other lines fault, though I did think her customer service skills were sub par. I did expect her to ask if I wanted to speak to a manager, I will not out right ask to speak to anyone's manager. The person who commented on my original post has solidified my rating. It was really disgusting to read all of the hurtful things they had to say and to see them start to attack me on my own personal social media was extremely panic inducing for me as I suffer with anxiety. I would never go out of my way to hurt anyone nor would I ever be aggressive in any manner. I stand by my rating of one star based upon the professionalism displayed here in the ratings comment section. read more

Absolutely love this place and their team. They helped me out on a very busy day for them when I was worried my dog wasn't doing well after his emergency surgery somewhere else the day prior. They took such great care of my dog, I cannot thank the team enough. Front desk is laid back, and the ladies (vet techs) are sooo sweet to my big ol shepherd every time we come! Their team seems very efficient and organized. Only downside is the office lobby stench. Not sure what it's from, but it's nothing compared to their excellent service and care. Thank you!! read more

First visit today with our newly-adopted cat with a URI. Extremely grateful they were able to see us same-day. I also really appreciated that they asked us to check in from outside and wait to be brought in; no one wants more sick kitties from a contagious pet in the waiting area, and it was much less stressful for my sick little lady. All the staff members we interacted with were polite, calm, and gentle. The vet we saw (Dr. Nilles) was professional and explained everything thoroughly. The prices for exam and meds were very reasonable. Dosing instructions clear and repeated to ensure understanding. Can't thank this clinic enough for its excellent care of my newest family member. Hoping we don't see them again for a good while, but looking forward to another pleasant experience when we do. read more

Alright then, Linsey. This is the deal. I was right, you and Kat Bell were wrong. I went to the FDA. Buprenorphine, ORAL, is not something that they have pharmacokinetic data on. I can pass the email on to you. I really can. You have to understand, I truly do love my pets. The name of the product is Zorbium TM and, right now, I can't recall the name of the manufacturer...Elanco? The FDA approved it, January 2021, a transdermal gel. Honestly, the only reason why the FDA wouldn't have approved a transdermal patch for veterinary use was because Vets like you didn't push the issue. What the FDA approved is a subdermal injection of transdermal gel with Buprenorphine. So, you got your panties into a bundle over...what? I've got videos you should see, but maybe you've seen them because I've tagged you. I cannot imagine how you got this mixed up. But, I wasn't the PhD that held classes in Pharmacokinetics and Therapeutic Agents at whatever Vet School that you went to. Word to the wise: 'Oral' is not the same as 'sublingual.' And, in case this shows up in your future, 'Oral is not buccal.' Honey, your skeletons in the closet always show up at the worst times, don't they? read more

dr. Nellis refused to take a one view x-ray of my dog either I spend $4-700 she wouldn't help me for 200. all I wanted was an x-ray I made that clear when I made the appointment when I talk to the assistant when I talk to her well then she said she had to take three views or her license would be on the line she said it's either three views or no views. that was my choice. i've been here for one hour waiting for my appointment that I made last week and then another hour for her to tell me this. read more

Our main concern being that only an email was sent and life gets busy so it didn't come up again until our dog was out of meds and we just needed them to get us to our next appointment but that wasn't a possibility for them. My sweet poodle had a fence accident and needed stitches. They were able to make fit her in, unlike my regular vet. They did a fantastic job stitching my baby up and gave very thorough directions on her care at home. Very friendly staff and very nice to my poodle. I'll be moving all my records from Valley Vet, to Union Animal Hospital. If a vet can't fit my dog in during an emergency then they don't get me as customer, refering to Valley Vet. Could not be more happy with our experience!!! We have a former shelter who has some anxiety who had been developing some gnarly breath for just being 5. The staff were all kind and gentle. It definitely put my mind at ease since I know my dog has some anxiety around strangers and strange places. He's also rather large which can make people stress out about his anxiety but he did super well with the staff and they took really good care of him. The consultation was inexpensive ($25) and was refunded when we made an appointment for services and paid. We NEVER felt pressured into any of our decisions or made to feel dumb for asking questions. It was a terrific experience actually being able to talk about our concerns about our dogs health. It turns out our guy had an infection at one of his teeth and wouldn't need to get it pulled or anything, just a good cleaning. When all his work was said and done we ended up paying much less than we were quoted by other clinics in Spokane who wanted $100-200 more. Dr. Sutton is hands down an amazing vet with a superb team. I recommend anyone and everyone who has a pet, especially an aging pet, to go and see Dr. Sutton and her team for the best care in spokane, and at a price that doesn't break the bank. read more

I took my cat in and asked for consultation. I also told them that she had some kind of seizure and she was in a lot of pain, moving from place to place, walking with an unsteady gait and even limping. I waited about 10 minutes before they took me into a room. The technician opened up a computer file and told me right away, without checking the cat, that to clean the cat's teeth costs $186. I said she doesn't have any teeth. Then he opened her mouth and she had one canine left. So then the technician said that if I want to have blood work done on her, it will be $90+. I agreed to have the blood work as I was very concerned with her health. He took my cat out of the room and said she will be done in 10 min. It was more like 20 min. I asked why they have to take the animal out for blood drawing, but no good explanation. I had a very bad feeling about this place. I asked when will I have the results of the test and they said 1-2 days. The 2nd day I called and they were rude on the phone saying when doctor reads the data, they will call me. The 3rd day, I called again and still nothing. In the evening, I got a message that my cat's results did not indicate any problems. I was astonished at that response. I drove back to the hospital the next weekday and picked up a copy of the test results. As of now, I have not seen another vet, but I do intend to do so and compare the results. I would suggest to anyone to stay away from this veterinary place. The name alone "affordable" should indicate there is something going on. It is a scam. You don't even check the animal before quoting outrageous amount of money to clean teeth. Is that affordable to anyone? read more

I was extremely nervous to bring my fur baby in yet the staff there is wonderful! Came to my vehicle to take her in for appointment and prior to taking her in, listened carefully to my concerns and explained pricing. I chose the option to have them call me first before performing anything on her. I did receive a call from the veterinarian and she thoroughly explained everything. Got to pick up my little one awaiting test results. Received voice mail message this morning checking up on my pup (great customer servicing) and received another voicemail this afternoon from the veterinarian who explained everything and advised me her medication will be ready for pickup. I called first thing in the morning as my cat was having an extremely difficult time breathing and I had brought her to the emergency vet clinic the night before where they did nothing. I had never been in before this, and they told me to come in right away to get her checked out. I was very pleased with the efficiency of the staff and the way everyone out front and in the back handled everything while I was very distraught. Unfortunately I ended up putting her down. The doctor who I met with had great bedside manner and thoroughly explained all of my options and made me feel very comfortable with that tough decision. She even waived the exam fee after I decided to do so, which was a very kind gesture. I don't know that I'll ever have to come back, but I would highly recommend them to anyone else based on my experience. read more

Truly excellent dental care. Friendly staff, clean facility, very professional. I took my chiweenie, who had some bad teeth and even worse breath, in this morning and picked him up mid afternoon a little dopey from the anesthesia as expected. Six teeth extracted, pain medications, microchip inserted, five x-rays, general anesthesia and IV fluids, anal glands cleared, dental care supplies, and a vet assistant who took time to review his after care, dental hygiene, and all for $397.07. Incredible service. I feel lucky that we have this clinic in Spokane. I plan to get my doggos regular tooth cleanings and highly recommend this veterinary clinic to all dog lovers. read more

Prior to today I'd said they were excellent. Traveling from out of town with cat that needed neutered. They got him in immediately for consult & surgery. Well today I called because my cat is 10 days post op & hasn't eaten in 36 hours & started vomiting the last 12. I called as soon as they opened this am. They refused to see him because they were "short 2 vets" & told me to go to pet ER. They could have easily worked him in or rescheduled an appt. As they should have being as they just performed his surgery recently & has had a change. Very poor care. Highly do NOT recommend. They were exceptional when they wanted my money for surgery but now there's complications they were unwilling to see him. Very crappy. read more

I was quoted a pretty penny at another Vet for dental work on my 4 year old Siamese. They quoted me about $1500 to pull all his teeth at once. This seemed like overkill and probably not necessary. A friend told me to get a second opinion at Affordable Pet Dental Plus. My visit there was excellent, costing a fraction of what my other Vet charged for the same thing. My Kitty had all his teeth cleaned and only need 4 extractions instead of all teeth pulled. He really turned around health wise after getting his mouth all healed and the painful teeth fixed. He is like a kitten again and his chronic vomiting has stop too. I saved 75% and was treated fantastic. read more

OMG!!!!!!!!!!! I'M IN SHOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to Affordable Pet Dental Plus in Spokane WA for a consult for teeth cleaning for my ShihTzu. I had been quoted $1100 - $1376 by another vet. Today DR. SUTTON gave me an estimate of $418 - $575 and that includes more services than the previous Vet. We have to wait a month as they are fully booked but that's ok. Dr. Sutton seems to be CARING and THOROUGH! The staff I met is super nice and caring. I have total faith in the services here and now have a new Vet!!!!!!!! I took one of my foster dogs here, and also my own dog for dentals. The foster needed 8 teeth removed, and all went well, and was reasonably priced for all the work that needed to be done. My dog is 9 and he just needed a clean up, and the cost was only $185 for everything! Great doctor, and great staff. I am very pleased with the services, and would recommend them. read more

During Covid-19 you wait in your car for your pet to be seen. They somehow got my name, phone number and the big things my dogs weight (huge difference). They said they couldnt check my dog throughly because she was in pain. They did not want to put her on antibiotics or give her pain medication. They instead made up an anti-inflammatory medication. I quested this and was told that my dog could get built up effect to using antibiotics. I left after almost 3 hours in parking lot. I looked it up on internet and contacted another vet- everything goes to treat with antibiotics and pain medication. I did try to use the medication that i paid for the syringe wouldn't go into the bottle to withdraw medication. I spent over an hour with a knife getting hole bigger into the top so syringe could be inserted as to pull medication out. Totally useless. The charge for what they did was well overpriced. South Hill vets are less expensive and much better. My dog us suffering and they never even did anything. They said they wanted to have surgery and she was in pain but they couldn't do it for more than a month and a half out. Unacceptable in everyway. The building looked nice frim the outside. The rest was a mess. Will never go back and i need to take my dog to a reputable veterinarian. I love my dog, she doesnt deserve this. It is not affordable. It is not professional. I have no problem paying the money but it will be paid to another vet clinic/hospital. Would never recommend. read more

I went there with my sister and her cat. We both walked out before we could even make an appointment. It was dirty. There was a dog with blankets over it, I guess this was this outfit's idea of warming up an animal after surgery, in February, with an ice-dam forming at the door that none of the princesses in that place could be bothered to deal with...ice cold wind was whistling in on this poor dog. The blond woman, Sutton (?), was running back and forth with blankets while shouting orders for other animals who were in some sort of process for dental work. I heard orders for a number '3' and a number '5.' After what I saw, I am really hoping that '4' didn't die...Don't go. Find another vet clinic. read more

I think this place is ok. I do like the staff, they are pleasant. I feel like they up sell to concerned pet owners who are worried about their family member with no posted list of prices anywhere. Asking constantly "how much will that cost," as I'm trying to budget in my head and make decisions feels wrong.
