We wanted ice cream. Mountains delivered! We walked in and no one was in there. I thought that was a bad sign. I was very wrong! We must've just caught them on a slow hour. The place is very clean and smells fantastic! It reminded me of one of the candy and ice cream shops in Gatlinburg. They have so many flavors that I have never seen before! I want a scoop of each one please! They have awards on the wall where they have been selected by the townspeople for favorite ice cream shop. I must say well deserved!! I had the caramel peanut butter cookie dough. It was great! My fiancé got the last cup of banana pudding they had. She's a real banana pudding aficionado and she said it was great! I had great expectations based on the reviews and awards they've won but was quite disappointed. My husband wanted a scoop of Rocky Road but was told there wasn't enough so he had to choose a different flavor. I wanted a chocolate malt but there was not enough chocolate. I suggest she use vanilla and add chocolate syrup, which she did, but she didn't know what malt was! On a positive note, my friend raved about her fresh waffle cone. The service was SO slow. Only one girl was working and that meant no new orders could be placed until she finished the prior one. With the changes we had to make, and the time to make the waffle cone and the shake, the people after us had to wait 10-15 min. She was super nice and a hard worker, there was just too much to do to be time efficient. read more

My Cousin & I were walking Downtown Rome today (Thurs, 11-10-22). Randomly walked into Mountains to check out what kind of ice cream & desserts were offered, as We planned to come back after we ate lunch. We walked in & a young man walked to the front from the back. Not a big deal BUT No Greeting or even a Smile. MY 1st Question was: what Bakery Items were baked this AM (thinking that would be what I mite want). The young man w/brown hair in a bowl cut said "I don't know, I'm just here til my sister, the owner, gets here". 2nd Question (comshe sells Hersheys Ice Cream? Owner's Bstates tyoubrand also. My cousin & I tasted 3 different Ice Creams & ALL were good but the cherry Amaretto was the best. Not meaning anything Neg by it, I commented on the chocolate must not be a real favorite becoz I see frosty ice on the little bit of chocolate in bottom of container. He went Totally off starting with "You 2 are Rude, you've asked too many questions & youre F.....g rude!! I WAS TRULY SHOCKED! Genuinely Shocked! I brought my father-in-law here for the 1st time back in October and we really enjoyed it. I felt like I was going back in time getting ice cream when I was a kid. They have several different types of ice cream flavors to choose from and the service was very friendly! We live in TN, but we're from Rome, and will visit Mountains again when in town. This place has really good ice cream but note: they do not have any options for sugar free, lactose free or fat free needs except for one fat free option, leaving out a whole group of people who would like a cool dessert. read more

Nice old fashion ice cream shop. BIG selection in a little shop. Ice cream was very tasty and waffle cone fresh and crisp. Service was friendly and quick. A little pricy for amount recurved but everyone has to pay the bills. Give it a try. It is worth it. read more

I am AMAZED at this ice cream shop, No one complains about having too much ice cream, and this place certainly doesn't skimp on the scoop size! They let me sample I believe almost every flavor they had, the staff really engages with you! All suggesting their favorites, wacky combinations they've tried, I love the stainless fixtures they have installed, the owners actually went into detail about the building and it's history while we chatted and it's so interesting to know where a bank teller used to sit and do deposits, I now sit on a stool eating the best ice cream in town.
