Well, this is a different place than it used to be. As a kid, I would go here with my dad. It was a school then, and we'd sled down the hill. Some very fond memories of my dad getting the old inner tubes, blowing them up, and tubing down. He took my little brothers a couple times and I went as a pre-teen and the hill seemed much smaller then. As a teen, my first ever paying job was here. Again, it was still a school, and they had baseball diamonds where I was an umpire for tee-ball. Such memories. When they got rid of the school, I was curious to see what would happen. What sprung up in its place was a park that the next generation of kids will have to fill their memories. Instead of the school, and a winter-only sledding hill, this is a full-blown summer park. Apparently splash pads are a thing. Safer than a pool (at least for drowning) and still built to keep you cool in the heat of the summer, there's a big ol' splash pad here that's built for the little ones to stomp around and get wet. Bring the sunscreen. As others have mentioned, there's a lack of shade here, so you'll want to protect yourself from the sun. And it's probably best as a weekday reprieve. It swarms with kids on the weekends and you might get elbowed around. Beyond the splash pad, you've got some playgrounds that are geared towards different aged kids, some courts, and a whole lot of grass. This park covers the bases for lots of kids of different ages and will surely be one of the places to provide them with fond childhood memories. read more

Currently, the playgrounds are completely fenced off because no one took into account that the slides would get too hot in the sun. Where did the architects that work for for Cottonwood Heights get their degrees? Unbelievable. Hopefully the city has the cash to pony-up for some shade structures stat. Epic fail. read more

This park has quickly become a favourite of mine for the following reasons. Firstly, there's lots of space. Even with bratty kids and "I couldn't care less" parents, you and your posse can find space to play and get out some energy without having to necessarily stand right next to them. Secondly, there's three levels of play equipment. Have a toddler? There's some great ride-on equipment along with a small slide built into a little tractor. Have a kid a little older? There's a 3+ set of equipment right next to there with 3 different sized slides and an easy gradient rock to climb. Venture over to the next play area and you have enough to keep kids and up to teens happy, along with some interactive games involving lights and other things to keep the grownups happy. Thirdly, there's a pavilion and BBQ area, along with amenities to keep your next outdoor kid party or scout troop gathering happy. Contact Mountview Park to reserve your space. Lastly, during the summer they have a water park/splash pad with a number of sprinklers/fountains, water guns, and some cool structures to run through. It's open from 9am-8pm weather permitting. The only sad thing about this park is that due to its recent revamp there is a great lack of shade due to the immaturity of the trees. So pack hats and sunscreen and everyone will have a great time. read more

Are we yelping parks now? Well alright... This park is sweet! My daughter loves is! The playground is awesome, as well the splash pad. Everything is newer and super fun to play on. I'm generally running around with her. Sometimes on the summer the Sunday crowd can be a little sketchy or rowdy. Huge downside... Lack of trees. There is no shade. But all else's it's super clean and fun for the family. read more

I wish I could love this park. It's convenient in term of location and distance from my home. I love that we have a splash pad so close. But I hate that there is NO shade. I get that it's a newer park and therefore doesn't have nature trees, but it makes visiting the splash pad less enjoyable and I find myself driving further so we aren't all in direct sun all day! Also, some mom let her kid slide on the hot slides in a swimsuit and then tried to sue the city because her kid burned her legs. Common sense people! Slides get hot in the summer. Protect your kids! Because of this, they took out most of the slides in both playgrounds and only replaced some of them. Now the little kids park has all these random platforms that go nowhere because the slides are gone. A wall was put up in its place so it's safe, but it's no fun to play there! And then they put up a tunnel with rock climbing grips, which is supposed to make up for the lack of slides (I'm not sure how since kids have to be older to use it and the toddlers are left with nothing to do). The ironic thing is that it gets hotter than the slides ever did, and it's meant to be climbed on. There's not really a way to protect yourself, like there is from a slide! So, yeah, it's a mess. That being said, the kids do have fun here. They love running and rolling down the various hills. They like all the climbing toys and electronic apparatus at the older playground. But they do want to try out new parks often because this one doesn't hold their attention as much. read more

I. LOVE. THIS. PARK!!! It's awesome. The playgrounds are separated nicely for kids in different ages so the 2 years and under can play quietly and stumbl-y in one area and the 3 yrs and older can crazily run around in the other area. Leashed dogs are welcome and I've seen dogs playing freesbie/catch here too, on one side of the park, away from the crowd. In the summer they have a water feature just like at the Gateway mall and I'm sure kids love it (I haven't seen it myself but I cannot wait for summer so my kids can enjoy it!). ByAwesome find! Having just moved here from Illinois a week ago, we didn't have a clue what to do for our daughter's 2nd birthday. It was a hot day so I stumbled across this gem when searching for places to swim. Fun for all ages, babies through adults. Wasn't crowded and we all had a blast. Our 2 oldest enjoyed being able to go from the splash pad to the adjacent jungle gym. The electronic game (not sure of the name) was a nice touch as we've never seen anything like it back home. This is great for kids to are stuck to video games but still keeps them active! Clean batbrooms! Friendly environment, we even had a nice woman offer to take our family pic:) Only drawback, like others have stated, is the lack of shade. I suggest investing in a nice beach umbrella or two. Also, bring lots of water (to drink) in a cooler, the water fountain was warm. Views of the mountains are a beautiful backdrop:) See you there! read more

This is a great park. We enjoy it. It can get really really busy though. It DESPERATELY needs shade and the dividing wall is awesome for parents who have big and small kids because you have to pick one or the other playground. You can't see both from anywhere but the parking lot. Right now there are some items in need of repair that have been broken for several months which is also disappointing. But we go to this park nearly every day and the splash pad is quite fun for hot energetic kids. Bring a tent or umbrella for some shade. read more

Modern, sprawling park with ample amenities. Ten years from now it'll be even better when the saplings mature into full grown trees. As it is, the sun beats down on the whole place relentlessly, making surfaces hotter than devil spit, turning slides into skin-searing torture tubes and black benches to sweat soaked butt-bakers. Pack sunscreen and umbrellas for a much happier time. AMENITIES: Splash pad Recessed soccer field (fairly well-graded but marshy areas indicate poor drainage and/or splash pad water infiltration Two modern play structure areas. One big one for big'uns, one little one for lil'uns. One of our favorite parks, Mountview is a great place to go with or without kids. It's only been open for 2-3 years so everything there is still new and in great condition. What I love about it is that there's a little bit of everything for everyone. Two playgrounds one for older kids and on the other side of the pavilion one for little kids. Slides, climbing equipment, a swinging bridge and a spinning apparatus provide non-traditional playground equipment for older kids. There's also an electronic tag game that my kids love. On the toddler playground you have much of the same but on a smaller scale with the addition of a tetter totter and bouncing animals. I've already mentioned the pavilion area which is covered with plenty of tables and benches as well as bbqs. This can be rented out in advance for parties. Beyond the playgrounds you have basketball courts and tennis courts which are in pristine condition. There's also two enormous open grass spaces. In the summer there's soccer going on in at least one field but they don't take the up whole space. We love to take our drones there and fly. There's also a paved walking/running trail around the fields and playgrounds. It's nice because it's almost 100% visible from the playground. In the summer there's a really nice splash pad that has a ton of different activities. The one thing I really wish for is shade. When I'm sitting there for hours watching my kids I'd like to sit somewhere that's not a burning hot bench. It can get crowded at times but nothing unreasonable. We frequent this park! The splash pad is really fun on the summer, and we love the path around the park. The playgrounds are awesome. The biggest negative is the lack of shade in the summer - it's very exposed. Bringing an umbrella is almost a must if you don't want to be in the sun. Love visiting this park for its location and what it offers- tennis court, basketball court, soccer field, two playgrounds, water area for the kids, and a walking path for bikers and walkers/joggers. My twins also had their 6th birthday party at MountainView with a barbecue area and benches for people to sit. My only complaints- is the trash that some people leave behind (clean after yourselves people :) ) and the occasional dog crap that dog walkers leave behind (they have bags here, so clean up the mess). read more

Great New Park! I only wish there was shade on and near the playground, other than the pavilion like the parks in Las Vegas.

Fav park in south end of the valley! It's perfect for all ages. Helpful tip- Bring a swimsuit for the kids for the splash pad.

Favorite place to visit in the spring, summer and fall! My family looks forward to the splash pad every summer!

The splash pad here feels forgotten and needs repair and updates. There is no shade for parents near the splash pad (or very little) and the playground gets wicked hot in the summer. We only come to this park in early spring and fall, when the temperatures aren't soaring. read more
