The first amazing surprise is there was no entry fee! We entered the garden and quickly ran into another surprise- a human-sized chess board! My boys wanted to play a game against each other...didn't know it was going to take 45mins...but it was fun to sit and watch and listen to the birds chirping. We then continued our tour around the grounds and saw many wonderful plants, trees, bushes, flowers and more. The grounds are beautifully manicured! There some educational areas where you can learn more about irrigation, landscaping and design. To walk around the garden takes about 30mins, but we spent 1.5hrs here as we took a lot of pictures and asked some questions from the workers. The workers and volunteers were very gracious to answer our questions and teach us more about the garden. You can tell they love their job and they love visitors. At the end of the tour, I made sure to drop a little cash in their donation box. Thanks Conservation Garden Park for the great time!

This new Regional Park held a "grand opening" in June 2023, unveiling a huge grassy field, multiple jungle gyms, a basketball court, a Pavillion you may rent, and a restroom facility. Nestled in a residential area, there's sweeping views of mountains all around. Don't even worry about parking....there's LOTS of parking, at least three different lots all around this majestic park. I didn't see any EV chargers though. Maybe those will arrive in future phases? I mean, there's LOTS of space for solar panels and it is blazing with sun.... According to their website, Phase 1 was a $18 million investment from a handful of different organizations. Now, 160 acres is a lot of grass and plants...where is the water coming from to maintain this greenery?

The vibe is this--unexpected parks, well-maintained, but pretty simple and quiet and small. It feels like they've taken a quantity approach, and rather than pack people into massive megaparks (oh, they've got those too--looking at you, Veterans Memorial) they have these tiny parks tucked into the crevices between houses and neighborhoods. Bicentennial is a case in this point. Located right there on 7000 S, it's actually not so tucked away, but all you really see is a long field and some trees at the end. If you drive into the neighborhood, you'll park along the road and find a small pavilion, some picnic tables, and a wonderful playground. That's pretty much the entirety of the place, and it clocks in at just over an acre and a half. I think the idea is lovely, and it was well-maintained and clean, which is really the key to places like this, so I'm all for the small parks dotting the map where West Jordians... Jordanese... citizens of West Jordan can walk to and enjoy.

There is also a giant tower with some of the biggest slides I've ever seen. The park itself is very large with plenty of grass and room to enjoy pretty much any activity you can think of. And there it is, at the end of the street. In fact, there's not really any formal parking, just parking along the side of the cul-de-sac. There are a few picnic tables and one pavilion, a water spigot, garbage service, and a playground. The playground is actually pretty cool, and probably the main attraction. Mostly, though, there's a whole lot of grass here. If you want to run free, picnic, or play a game of ultimate, football, or anything else that requires lots of open space, this is your big grassy field. In the back corner there's a chain link backstop, but no real baseball diamond to speak of as it's all grass. Ya, a little strange to be finding this little park in the middle of a residential neighborhood, but strange is good in this case. A nice diversion and certainly in this incredible fall weather, a nice place to get out of the house while we still can.

There's no roads nearby, other than the cul-de-sac, so there's no dangerous streets bordering the park, so you don't have to worry about children crossing the road and getting into trouble. The playground equipment is relativity new and offers a lot of fun climbing, slides, and other unique obstacles. Our little boy loves playing at Harvest Estates Park! There's a baseball area among the large grass field and several large trees that provide ample shade on a hot summer day. There's also a covered picnic pavilion with several Punic tables. The picnic area is a little worn out and the tables are dirty.
