However, after passing by them numerous times at the same spot by 4th on Townsend? Sure, I was willing to give them a shot! If there was ever a mom-and-pop food truck, Linda's Catering would definitely be it. While not as old school as those OG taco trucks and "roach coaches", these guys certainly aren't as modern or fancy as the likes of KoJa Kitchen with their LCD menu screens. Even though their kazu/katsu burrito is actually pretty good, I'd be hard pressed to give Linda's Catering anything more than three stars. Along with my disappointing curry rice dish, service here isn't all that quick (unlike most other food trucks). Despite ordering the exact same thing, it took an extra 5-10 mins for our second burrito to come out, on top of the 10-15 mins the first one took. Not a big deal for something as good as a Senor Sisig burrito, but much less so in this case.

Stumbled across Linda's Catering when looking online for asian options and went to go try out her ramen. Straight off the truck, the miso ramen was really amazing and a decent portion for lunch or dinner. I also tried her spicy tuna burrito, which came highly recommended and that was tasty too. Basically it's a ginormous maki roll. After deciding to have Linda be one of our caters for the wedding reception, it was extremely pleasant and easy to work with her. She runs a small business and was more than willing to accommodate us anyway she could help out. Her prices were very reasonable and for what our guests got, it was definitely worth it! Our guests loved the ramen and thought it was very fun and it provided just the right thing on a cooler outdoor evening reception. We ended up getting half portions to not overwhelm everyone with all our different food truck foods and it worked out great. I cannot say how nice Linda was or how hard she worked to make our wedding special. She was always all smiles and it was so kind that she was really happy to be part of the whole wedding and wished us well. A long, soft…read morelightly buttered toasted roll is filled with thinly sliced roast pork, a thin slice of salty ham, pickles, yellow mustard and melted Swiss cheese. It was served warm (wrapped in foil) but the pork was rather dry, stringy and bland and the quality of ingredients, from the pickles to the slice of ham, was unremarkable. The sandwich could use more ham as well. Goza Goza is mobile taco truck, so you'll find tacos (of course), burritos, and quesadillas. They also have licuados and sandwiches (steak, Cuban). Regular tacos: $1.50; they didn't list the meats they offer. Super tacos are $4, burritos $6 and quesadillas $5. They have drinks (hot and cold) and chips too. The food inspection score was 100. Parking is a challenge in that area and there isn't any place to sit. The ambiance can be described as industrial with generous amounts of car exhaust fumes.

I've been to LA and I've seen the light of Sergio's and El Taurino, and I've stalked International Blvd. in Fruitvale many a night. That said, this taco truck is not only one of the cheapest lunches in the area near my office, but it offers a startlingly good salsa roja, salty carnitas and top-notch asada. After scouring for cheap eats for two weeks, Goza Goza rekindled my love affair with the taco. I was doubtful at first, and was really worried, considering some of the reviews here (wtf is up with the guy bothered by no wheat tortillas? Go back to Chipotle.) but Goza Goza delivers. I got four regular tacos, which by me is really the only way to go with a truck like this, with a 2x2 lineup of carnitas and asada. At first bite, I was a little underwhelmed by the salsa, but by taco #2, the heat had added up and I could feel juuust the right amount of lip burn. The carnitas, as well, disappointed at first, but by the end, I wanted more salty shredded pork from Goza Goza. The asada had a solid flavor, and although tended to sit on the slightly fatty side of the asada spectrum, it delivered with plenty of flavor and just enough chewiness to balance the fresh crispiness from the grill. Negative points for no jalapenos or spicy carrots on the side and needing more salsa per taco, but there's nothing here that will keep me from eating tacos here pretty much every day. There are a few trucks that seem to be here more often than others such as the Roadside Rotisserie (roasted chicken) or Limon (Peruvian). I usually prefer asian cuisine and Foodeaze usually has 2-3 food trucks serving Asian food. The clearing in between the trucks is small and not a great place to eat. Instead, I usually take my meal across the road to sit in the courtyard. There's plenty of outdoor seating there!

Since it was nearing closing time, our party of four asked if someone was willing to share their firepit. We brought two chairs and pulled up a double lounge type chair for our party of four. We ended up getting a Rock & Rye Toddy: george dickel & bulleit whiskey, citrus, rock candy syrup, horehound, & spices x3. I believe the total was $36, so I guess the drinks were $12 each. It was a cold night, so the hot drink helped. Though I didn't really care for the cocktail. It was too sweet. I could have definitely gone without the rock candy syrup. I love bonfires, so I like the vibe of this event. It's fun just sitting around a campfire talking and drinking. My kind of laid back night. Not sure when this event closes, but they were putting out the fires about 30 mins in, so we didn't have much time here. Definitely would try to come earlier next time. A fun chill Thursday.

Finishing a hike through the Presidio I landed at Presidio Twilight just in time for drinks,…read moredinner, fire pits, live music, and open-air cabanas. I've been known to say that the whole food truck craze jumped the shark a while ago and that Off The Grid did as well, when their brand started appearing in suburban strip mall parking lots, but when either are done in unique fashion the whole thing is something I heartily endorse. Presidio Twilight falls into that category. With only two Presidio Twilight events left in 2016 (September 29, October 6; 5 - 9 p.m.) I'd recommend you clear your Thursday evening calendar, call your friends, and bundle up as if headed for the old Candlestick Park. Then head on over to the Presidio's main lawn. The Adirondack chairs, fire pits, and cabanas are first come-first served and they get spoken for quickly. You used to be able to reserve these items but that's no longer the case as the powers that be want people to mingle. I like this change and hope that people are actually mingling, not hoarding. I didn't try to cadge a spot inside anyone's cabana but I like the idea that someone thinks we ought to do just that. As I stood at a communal table with a mixed drink, a Korean rice bowl, and my freezing dog I met a couple of Texans in town for a Cal football game. I often see things through the eyes of the perpetual SF tourist that I pretend to be but these were actual tourists who reported that they like to do unusual things, things that other tourists don't. For a good half hour I was proud of Texans. The Presidio gets icy cold at this time of day and year which is likely the reason why Presidio Twilight isn't a year-round thing (it started up in May). As you stand in this beautiful, historic spot consuming good food and drink it doesn't feel like you're being gouged for the food truck prices you just paid. It feels like you're enjoying a unique San Francisco experience. From your perch you can see the bay and before nightfall, spot a Crissy Field kiteboarder or two. Some experiences are priceless. You won't find anything like this in Texas let alone anywhere else and for that reason, you should make it a priority.
