Six + months in I'm eternally grateful for the care, expertise and professional attitude I have received at the Cathedral City location. Never had a condition that required PT and without it I would still be unable to live a life I didn't think would return. I was diagnosed with severe arthritis in my right hip and the pain and lack of mobility slowly increased until one morning it became so bad I knew I had to do something. I'm hoping to be in top shape when a hip replacement becomes necessary and I'm well on my way. I am lucky to be under the care of Dr. Carmela Reynoso. There are a few options for physicians as well as PT techs at this location but I have found Carmela to be a perfect fit for me. Friends had recommended this place and so did Dr. Cassim at the Eisenhower Orthopedic Pain Center. She got me past the fear of trying things that have resulted in my balance slowly returning, my mobility improved 90% and leg strength that allows me to walk up stairs without dread She has given me exercises to do in a pool and at home on the floor (yes, I can now get up and down!) when I'm not there twice a week. Each time I break through a barrier I get a bit teary, because of the difference now and a year ago. I owe them so much but I have worked to make it a reality. Highly recommend MFLPT, they have been great to me. I had knee replacement in September, and I arrived in La Quinta/Indio for the month of November . I looked them up and had my referral in hand. I was assigned to Andrew and Ruth, and they were fantastic for me. Well, first of all, it is astonishing they have 5 stars and I attribute that to the major possibility people have not experienced how wonderful PT can actually be outside of Coachella Valley. I had a second minimally invasive knee replacement (fantastic surgeon at Cedars Sinai in L.A. who does not remove the knee cap, doesn't cut the bones, etc.) last December. My first physical therapist for my first knee replacement was the Director of a fantastic PT center in Hermosa Beach. Not only are the facilities amazing (and half the size of this place), but state of the art equipment and therapists. So I had no idea how grim a place could be. We were in the desert temporarily so thought Ian Halderman might be ok at Movement for Life in Indio. The first MAJOR red flag was when my daughter called and the manager told her that he asks to be called DR. HALDERMAN. ARE YOU KIDDING? He went to Saint Augustine's college (ranked #86 in Best Colleges SOUTH) with a whopping 72% of applicants accepted. Student body? About 927. We swallowed hard and made appointment. Upon arriving I was immediately dismayed with the facility. Apparently I was badly spoiled. It is too big, feels dirty, and they don't have any of the great options for post surgery recovery. No beds to lay on for treatment, very cheap basic equipment and none of the other available options like laser. I was shocked. My first appointment with him was uncomfortable at best and he came off as silly arrogant. In my opinion, the last thing a physical therapist should do is attempt to set themself above the patient and require they be called Dr. My first therapist not only graduated from one of the top therapy universities in the US, but had years of training and on site work at Cedar Sinai Hospital alongisde my amazing, renowned orthopedic surgeon. He is the Director of the PT center, but insists on being called by his first name, is very warm and caring and a brilliant therapist. The second and final appointment with Ian finished us off. He was very aggressive with his treatments and it felt reckless. I am 69. I interjected a couple of times and he breezed on forcing my leg into awkward positions while I held my breath. I hobbled out and told my daughter how badly it had gone. By 6 p.m., my knee was HUGE. He had dislocated the knee cap and everything was terrifying. By dawn, I was in tremendous pain, the knee was huge and there was a crazy literal ledge that stuck out along the side of the knee area. My surgeon asked that we send photos immediately, cancel all appointments and put it on ice. He did not even want me getting in the car. This was second week of December. I was to spend the next two weeks wrapping the knee (from the left to right to pull things back in line), icing, keep it raised, etc. It ruined Christmas for all of us and had to go back on pain meds. It also pushed off being able to get in the pool of the home we had rented. Others have said how they love the ice and "electrical stimulation." EMS at this location is simply sub par. They also don't have the full leg pneumatic compression devices, laser treatment, etc. I am uncertain if they have the hot water soaking devices so they can put either large warm wraps or ice cold wraps on your limbs as it wasn't offered & didn't see it. Few uncomfortable chairs for EMS. Here is what everyone should know. FIrst of all, the PT locations that don't offer these wonderful services (proven to help patients) are likely not as they don't get as full an insurance payment as they want. By not investing in the equipment and not offering it, they don't run the risk of not profiting as much as they would like. My surgeon and PT in Hermosa told me to just do the icing, stretching they had taught me, etc. until I was back in town. I can not describe the relief of walking into their center again in January! He immediately got to work on the very unhappy knee with laser, icing, EMS, compression equipment, etc. and got it turned around quickly. Had I not had that first expeirence with my first knee, I would not have realized how a terrific PT center actually can look and what they can offer the patient when they put aside the focus on profits and size. As well, every single person goes by their first name so the patient feels more relaxed, comfortable and part of almost the family there. It is VERY clean and despite being a small center, there are several nice beds/pillows to recline on for treatments, great state of the art equipment, large foam shapes for resting your knee on, etc. Lesson learned. I hope these places clearly shooting for maximum customers and biggest profits, instead put their focus on the recovery of the patient who is in pain, had surgery or whatever ails them. PLEASE drop the arrogance of being called Dr. You are not a doctor. All kinds of studies result in a doctorate. Most are not actually doctors. The fact this is written in June is a reflection of the lasting impression Ian gave us. read more

I was referred by my doctor to this particular physical therapy location and it was amazing; and down right impressive. The staff where knowledgeable and very professional within their occupation. They greet and treat you as if you've purchased a VIP upgrade. During my sessions, Vince and Mayra worked as a team on a mission towards my recovery. I had broken my fourth Metatarsal bone in my right foot, while I was in the desert visiting my parents. After getting treated with surgery on my foot from Desert Orthopedic Center at Eisenhower. After several weeks in a cast and in the boot. I was recommended to Avid. The staff was very professional. Ian was my therapist. A friend recommended Vince Kambe after their good experience. I had started to hike and was experiencing pain in a knee after long walks and short runs. My goal was to hike Mt. Whitney with a friend as a celebration of his conquering Cancer. A secondary goal was to do my first sprint triathlon after 30 years of simmering as a couch potato. I'm 54 years old. But I couldn't run 1.5 miles or hike 7 miles w/o pain in my knee. Avid Physical Therapy was a great experience! Staff was professional, all of the assistants were top notch! Doc Kambe designed a great program and was very interested in my progression. I felt he spent a tremendous amount of his time with me. The stretching and exercises were successful! The cooling cuffs helped keep swelling down, and very helpful. The office layout is open, friendly, creating a comfortable environment for rehabilitation. Results! Hiked 2 14,000 foot mountains-No Knee Pain. My Whitney, 22 miles in 11.5 hrs-No Pain! 2 Sprint Triathlons, 1 International Triathlon completed,and more to come.... Unfortunately my daughter developed drop foot after a surgery and had to have physical therapy. Avid staff is very professional. Her therapist had a PHD. He was friendly, compassionate and caring. He did a thorough evaluation and gave her some exercises that were easy for a teenager to do on her own. Within a week she was 75% better while the week before she had no improvements. She had a 2nd session and was all better in two weeks. Nice and clean office with semi private cubicles for evaluation. read more

I don't normally write reviews , as I am pretty critical and it's better to not say anything. However , last month I was introduced to Avid , on the advice of my doctor. What a surprise upon walking in the door for the very first time . Imagine walking into a spotlessly clean , neat and organized rehab center and immediately being greeted by the most friendly staff ever. My appointment was set up with Vince , who immediately made me feel comfortable. He initially measured my bending and stretching ability along with all kinds of other stuff trained experts like Vince do. Oh ! , did I mention that I was barely able to walk on my own without the aid of a walker. Did I also fail to mention the constant cleaning of the tables and equipment by everyone there. Bottom line is that a month has passed and I'm walking and will be running soon. Thank you Vince and your wonderful staff for not only making me feel comfortable while in session , but for additionally going above and beyond to help with my recovery. Dr. Ian treated my knees for six months. Twice weekly visits plus home exercises. Lots of hard work, but well worth it. Postponed arthroplasties of both knees. True professional. Vince and his team at avid physical therapy in Indio are the best in the valley I think. After a 4cm labrum tear and injection, Vince had me off 2 crutches in 4 weeks and back hiking in 10 weeks. His knowledge and experience are unparalleled. In the beginning I had new pains surrounding SI joint, lower back and paraformis that he knew exactly how to adjust/address. I can't speak highly enough of this great facility. After extensive shoulder surgery in December, I wintered in La Quinta so as not to deal with snow and ice and stairs, and when I was able, started physical therapy with Dr. Luke Wang. He was incredibly astute and gifted in helping me heal. He knew just how much to push me but he didn't baby me, and I feel like I healed perfectly on track. By the middle of April I was back to teaching Pilates. I learned so much from Dr. Luke throughout this experience, and I am extremely grateful for the time and attention he gave me. So far I've only visited Avid Physical Therapy once for a general evaluation and was assigned to Darcy or more correctly D'Arcy Hlavin PT DPT. She really made me feel comfortable as she pushed, prodded and stretched me during a health and wellness evaluation. I didn't visit because of an injury but as a self pay who went in for an evaluation. I liked the environment mostly in a large, clean and comfortable room and it felt like the therapists supported one another in an open environment. I would definitely visit again but not sure I am committed to doing the work yet. read more

I came to this team after I had gotten an ACL surgery after getting recommended from a friend who used to work here. I'm very happy with the amount of care and personality that everyone at this facility provides their clients. Dr. Randy Chan was very informative and was aggressive (in a good way) on working my knee to make sure it was getting the care it deserved and trying to get it back to 100%. Their equipment is very state of the art and they have a wide assortment of workout & recovery equipment including Game Ready which is some of the best recovery stuff around now. I am giving Avid 5 stars because of the office staff. I made an appointment for my uncle yesterday and he is about to go in to his first appointment today. A week ago I made an appointment at different physical therapy office and after he waited a week to be seen he was turned away at the door because they did not accept his insurance (which they previously told me they did). Avid however was very helpful and quick to call our insurance and get back to us with exactly what they needed to make sure the visit could be covered. They were so helpful and not to mention getting an appointment the next day so I couldn't help but give them a good review on Yelp. The staff is made up of extremely friendly and kind people who really seem to care about each individual patient. For three weeks I worked with Ashley and she was incredible, made me comfortable and greatly decreased the pain I was in. This is a professionally led group of specialists. Ms. D'Arcy Hlavin, PT, DPT was my coach and a more 'finer' physical therapist you will not find in the Coachella Valley!
