I am in the middle of a divorce, and needed someone to come out to my husbands house to remove my furniture for me. I was in a wreck in December and still cannot lift allot of weight. I received a prompt response to my Yelp Inquiry, and was able to work out an estimate. The day of my move my husband had gone out of his way to make every aspect of the move difficult. He had been living in the house for 5 months tearing it up with trash everywhere, letting the cats urinate on the floors... it was filthy. The cherry on his revenge sundae was keeping the a/c off the entire time. So it was a hot box of horrible. The movers who came out assured me everything would be taken care of, and they did it. They worked in the 80+ degree temps, with the amonia smell for several hours without complaint. Our troubles unfortunately didn't end their. When we got to the storage shed, they found a baby cotton mouth inside. Just my luck! They still took it in stride, with help from my dad the snake was removed and my furniture got stored safely and efficiently in my container. Overall, I had a good experience. My moving team of 3 guys was very courteous, professional, and respectful. They moved me from a townhouse in Williamsburg, VA to a larger, standalone home in Richmond, VA. In between, we stopped off at a 10 ft x 10 ft storage unit to pick up more stuff. Apparently, there was some miscommunication between the sales guy & the moving team because their piece of paper did not mention going to a storage unit. However, they took it in stride and told me we'd still go if that was what I discussed beforehand. Will was the foreman, and he was great! I could see his experience as he directed his guys with how to move bulkier pieces of furniture. The team wrapped & padded all of the furniture well & were responsive to my requests when I asked them to move something to a different part of the new house. Considering I was with them all day (10 am to 9 pm), they remained patient. I took off one star because they lost the power cord to one of my TVs. Luckily, it was a universal cord. I went out & bought another one & they reimbursed me. Mistakes happen, and they were apologetic about the mishap. The price was fair. I received three quotes, and their price ended up being around the same amount as the others. Used earlier this year for a move across town, they had the lowest quote (they beat the next lowest quote by almost $200!) & I was admittedly a little skeptical at first, but they FAR exceeded my expectations. The movers that came out were very very VERY professional, courteous & thorough. All of my items & furniture were wrapped, protected & secured exceptionally well, they were careful & conscientious about making sure that everything was done properly. It took longer than I expected, but knowing that the reason for that was to ensure that nothing was damaged during the move, it didn't bother me at all. There were no hidden fees or charges, they stuck to their quote even though I substituted one item (that I'd listed in the initial quote but ended up moving myself) for another that I wanted them to move for me. It was a very very smooth process, maybe the smoothest move/movers I've ever dealt with. Now that a friend is moving, I'm going to recommend them & I'll DEFINITELY give them a call the next time that I need moving services. If you want your items stolen off of an unattended truck and to be overcharged hundreds of dollars, this is the company for you! The move itself took over 7 hours for moving 5 blocks away with only 1 bedroom of furniture and 10 boxes. Still not sure how it took this long. During the move out, the movers left the truck unattended and one of my neighbors saw a person jump on to the truck and run away with my clothing. I had to fill out several forms to get my money back for this item, the first form was incorrect and I was sent yet another form to fill out. Next, the company does inventory-based quoting. Fine. I moved 30 of my 40 boxes prior to the move, so down to 10 boxes and moved several other items on the quote I moved myself as well. Everyone from sales to the movers themselves assured me the price would be adjusted down for the actual inventory. It was not. I am now dealing with accounting and trying to reconcile the incorrect inventory. It has been three weeks of dealing with this and emailing the COO repeatedly when I hear nothing back from them for weeks. I was told most recently that I was being sent checks for what seems to be random amounts that do not total the over $200 I am owed. Further I requested a discount for my trouble with the company and found today that they are offering a pitiful 5% for my inconvenience. I needed help moving a heavy couch and several other 2 person lift pieces of furniture so I sent a quote on yelp and mover dudes had one of the better rates and responded quickly. Their scheduler called me promptly and was very helpful in setting up the details and getting the payment knocked out over the phone. On the day of the move, the 2 movers showed up on time and were professional. I showed them the apartment and the furniture I needed them to move and they started working right after that. They ended up damaging my couch from dragging it on the ground, which pulled the armrest up from its metal tacks into the wood frame and also knocked it against the wall leaving a large dent that broke drywall. I understand moving large furniture is difficult, but this is also the reason why I decided to hire professionals, so I was frustrated when I found the damage. I made the mistake of not inspecting the furniture before letting them leave, which is something I'll ensure to do next time. Overall, the service was good, but the actual work did not meet my expectations. I will probably shop around more next time to find a better company. read more

Please do not make any arrangement with this company. I was requested to use my credit card, charging me a fee of $75, to hold a moving date. He didn't tell me that the $75 was nonrefundable. He emailed a contract that was an underestimation of the cost to move and I immediately knew that I was dealing with a dishonest company. It took 24 hours for them to call me and respond to the date I requested. Simply put they said even though it was over a week away they could not fit me in. Sigh well here we go: 1. They were 3 hours late 2. I called and apparently our move was not on the books. Although they called to confirm the day before. 3. They arrived in a Uhaul Truck (not a Mover Dudes Truck) that was too small 4. They did not do a check to make sure every room was moved. So they left without moving our basement and we had to move it ourselves. Along with other small pieces of furniture throughout the house. 5. The dresser chest: Was too hard to move down the stairs of the old house (previous movers had no problem) and too hard to move up the stairs in the new house (so they left my dresser chest in the living room). We had to pay some off duty movers from the previous moving company to move the dresser upstairs took them less than 8 minutes. read more

I was a repeat customer with Mover Dudes and had an acceptable experience in 2015. I am so disappointed in how I've been treated this time and think I've been taken advantage of as a woman. This year, I requested a move with a last-call delivery date of Sept 28th because I will be out of the country. Mo, a sales associate, told me he called the owner of the company, the truck driver, and all the schedulers and he was sure they could go ahead and get my items delivered by the 28th and they could make it happen. That was two weeks ago. After they received my $2000 deposit, communication with Mover Dudes immediately worsened. I had to call and text multiple times to get a response. It was always unclear who was contacting me back - they didn't identify themselves by name in text. The initial truck arrival window changed from Sept 16, to the 22, and now -- unclear if or when the truck is coming and who will be available to meet them and unload, as I'll be out of the country. I am wanting to hear directly from this "owner of the company" that Mo A. so freely name dropped during his hard sell. Dishonest and pushy salepeople without the coordination to deliver on bogus promises. I called them after Dabney's Magichands completely no-called, no-showed on me. The guys were amazingly helpful, professional and well-priced. These guys are machines. I never realized how much stuff I really had nor did I think it would be a problem fitting it all in a 16-foot truck. We had hired 2 guys and thought it wouldn't take more than a couple hours. The only problem was that our movers were initially late due to a previous job going over-time. However, the owner and another helper came to the rescue to get things started so we'd remain on-schedule. Then the original guy showed up and even though we now had 4 guys moving us, they still only charged us for the original 2. That's just the most amazing customer service. But as I said, we never realized how much stuff we really had and fitting it all was a challenge. But these guys played the most intense game of Tetris ever and fit just about everything on the truck. They were careful and agile and handled all of our belongings with care. It's a shame we no longer live in RVA and can't use them again, but I can't recommend them enough. read more

Great referral from Yelp and highly recommended! The movers were punctual and careful with all of my items. I had a small move to make -- unload a POD and bring it to my new apartment, which could not accommodate the POD parking requirement (a full three parking spaces for a 9' x 16' container). Venture Brothers loaded their truck and unloaded into my new place in an hour and a half including travel time from Chesterfield to Manchester. These guys are quick movers (running what seemed like a relay race between apartment and truck) and know what they are doing. Even my ikea furniture was packed with care and moving blankets. They have a minimum charge of two hours of their hourly rate, which is very reasonable, and accommodated my short time line (i.e., I called on Friday and they moved me Sunday morning). Long story short: Venture Brothers are incredible! On time, polite, helpful! Everything you could want. I'm not from Richmond, but was out there for a few weeks when my friend had to move on a super short notice. While she was at work every day I was scrambling to make the move work - I called Venture Brothers and asked if they could move us in about 36 hours. They were the third company I called, but told me they could actually make it work AND had unbelievable prices. I didn't call anyone else back. They showed up on time and with a crew of three men - for a one bedroom apartment. They had four rooms down a flight of stairs in an hour. My friend and I were both impressed. They were moving things faster than we could sort. The gentleman on the crew were friendly and engaging without over stepping their bounds. We talked comics, records and local food places to check-out after settling into the new place. When we called the landlord at the new place, he was running late, but Venture Brothers weren't upset - they made use of the extra time by grabbing a bite on the way, and never stressed my friend - or charged her for this mishap. Something she appreciated - and me as well, since it kept her calmer in this week of chaos. Lastly, when we got to the new place, we had left our broom at the old - not only did they offer to let us borrow it, one of them swept the place before we got done discussing business with the (tardy) landlord. Yes! The perfect moving company! Six star review! Ben brought a crew, including himself, Joshua, and Carl to our house to unload a very full 26 foot moving van. We needed to move most all of the items upstairs into a two story apartment. I've never seen guys as competent, friendly, strong, and positive as this crew. A van that took three hours with five people loading it took a little more than an hour for his crew to unload it and run everything upstairs. And when I say "run," I mean run! They would load 150 - 200 pounds on their back and actually RUN up the stairs to gently drop things off on the second floor in exactly the place we asked! It was incredible! They didn't do "drawers first" on the dressers -- they moved the entire dressers and antique secretary desk as a whole. No dollies or hand trucks -- they moved everything by hand, gently, and carefully to its destination. Each of the gentlemen was professional and friendly and positive, which was great because we had had a harrowing move up until this point. They turned my attitude around completely so that I was smiling and laughing by the end of this very fast move! I would certainly recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone -- and will use them again and again! read more

I am amending my previous review. It appears that Venture Brothers is out of business, and has been purchased by Mover Dudes (or something?). I've tried several times to just talk to them about moving us (get a quote/set a date) and I can't get through to them. They haven't responded to an online request for a quote, I called once and got disconnected, and called a second time and left a message. No response or call back from them to date. This is NOT how Venture Brothers did business. So my guess is this is an entirely different organization and my previous review (copied below) is no longer valid? Previous review. These guys were amazing! Josh, Karl and David were the crew that moved us and they were fantastic. They are hard working, strong, and highly professional. They really know how to move and have all the equipment needed to make it happen. Even better, they have an outstanding positive attitude and work ethic. They are incredibly hard workers and their positive attitude kept our spirits up even as we were closing in on a long day and a major thunderstorm. These guys just get the job done. Venture Brothers provided the absolute best moving experience I have ever had. Moving can be a painful experience, and I was dreading it. Such a positive experience with these movers - highly recommend. Three man crew helped me move about a mile from outside to inside the fan. Crew arrived about 15 minutes late due to traffic but called in advance to let me know (life happens). Karl, Nick, and Aaron. These were the guys who helped me move from Williamsburg to my new apartment in Richmond. Like one of the other reviewers mentioned, these guys were machines. They finished packing an hour earlier than I anticipated and I was sitting comfy with all my boxes moved into my new apartment a couple hours earlier than expected. I'm not sure what else I can say about a move, but the one thing that set them apart was personality. The entire experience was enjoyable -- they were super kind and kept throwing jokes left and right. They even called one of my canvases dope. Made my day. On top of all this, they gave me helpful tips on cool places in the neighborhood and gave me a history lesson of the city. I've never felt more welcome. A couple of weeks ago, a relative of mine told me that she was in the process of moving, but needed some help with the larger items. While I am a strong guy, I could not possibly lift all of the heavy objects myself. So I relied on Yelp to help me find reasonable movers within the area. When I did a search for "movers", Venture Brothers was fourth on the list. I attempted to contact the first three moving companies about a possible move, but I was unable to get a response from them. I then contacted Venture Brothers and got an immediate response. How did my experience go? To find out, read below: The Good: Punctuality- The move was scheduled in the early morning and the workers arrived 3 minutes before the scheduled time. With all of the reviews that I've read about moving companies showing up hours late, this appeared to be a very good sign. Customer Service- While setting up the move, the company representative was very good at answering questions and being as accommodating as possible. During the move, the movers were very professional and went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that the move went as smooth as possible. No Nickel and Diming- Some moving companies that I've searched via Yelp charge an hourly rate that includes the time they leave their destination to reach the first address. They also include another charge that covers fuel and supplies, then they may charge packing and boxing fees. Venture Brothers charges one flat hourly rate that includes the gas (travel within the Richmond area), moving truck, insurance, labor and equipment as well as a separate rate if their work goes over an hour. The Bad: N/A Overall- Rarely do I give five star reviews, but this review is warranted. These guys were pretty much the last option for moving companies that I searched via Yelp and I did not regret getting in contact with them. They were on time, did a good job and they essentially charged less than half of what other moving companies would have charged under the same circumstances. I am incredibly happy to have hired Venture Brothers for my move from Richmond to Washington, DC, and highly recommend them for anyone looking for movers! They came out to my place for the estimate, and explained how the potential move would work (how many movers they'd use, how much time it would take, etc.). He also gave me some tips on how to pack in preparation for the move. As he promised, I received the quote that evening. The price was very reasonable and was less than the estimates I received from 3-4 other moving companies (that I had found searching Yelp). Additionally, they explained what went into the fixed price (mine was more because it required a drive into downtown DC and was in a high-rise building). On the day of the move, the guys gave me a call to let me know they were running a little late (about 15 minutes), which I found to be very considerate. When they arrived, they got right to work and cleared out my apartment in what seemed to be record time! We all got stuck in traffic on the drive up, and again, they considerately kept me updated on their time and progress. Again, they moved in all my boxes and furniture quickly, and as other reviewers have said, they would run back and forth when moving everything in. If I could give Mover Dudes a worst score, I would. They destroyed our beautiful cherry master suite furniture. They wrapped furniture in the truck leaving it open to scaring as they carried out of one house and into another. Which is exactly what happened!! They also dropped a refrigerator off the truck. After filling out claim reports and 2 months of telephone calls, it was determined that the cost to repair damaged furniture was just short of our deductible by a couple of dollars - very suspicious! Mover dudes were amazing! They gave a specific time frame for when they were going to arrive and arrived well within that time frame, so I didn't have to wait around too long. I had rented two storage units and they were able to fit all of my things into one storage unit so I even got a to save money and get a refund from the storage unit I didn't need. The whole entire process was finished in less than three hours. Not only were they professional and efficient in their work, but they were also really friendly, nice, and funny. They made the seemingly dreadful experience of moving so much more pleasant than I imagined it would be. Oddly enough, it left me with that warm and fuzzy feeling. We loved this group of guys. They showed up with a can do attitude and moved all of the furniture left in our old house that had been left behind to stage it. This included a huge sewing table, a large high, desk and a Berg Loft bed- which they had never seen- but still managed to get back together. They carried all the big pieces upstairs in our new house, and did it all with a smile. (FYI the bed is huge with like 8 large pieces and a playhouse underneath, to give you an idea of what they were up against.) They also did it for a reasonable price. These guys are professional, honest and hardworking. Our move turned out to be quite complicated - large furniture and tight corners, plus a 2-story walkup. They handled everything in stride, and worked hard until the end. Walker came to our house beforehand to do an estimate, and they were easy to communicate with the whole time. Ben and Walker were both very friendly and down-to-earth. They are just starting out as a company, but they have lots of experience and treated our stuff with care. This review is long (read below for details) but in short: I would NOT recommend Mover Dudes due to poor communication between front office and movers (echoing other reviews), poor quality of moving (many scratches on furniture and poor preparation on part of movers) and overall not a price discount once everything was said and done. For the long story: contacted mover dudes to move my 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo from Richmond to D.C. Called three weeks in advance for a moving date on 7/1 and received no return communication or estimate. Had to call multiple times and then the one time I did get an estimate for 7/1, I asked for ONE hour to consult with my husband and the date was gone by the time I called back. They didn't even do me the courtesy of holding the date for a short time. VERY unprofessional. They basically forced our hand into moving two weeks early and my husband and I are still moving our belongings ourselves two weeks later. By this time, we had lost dates with other companies as well. I then called them back to update our inventory, and it was very obvious when the movers arrived that they were caught off guard by our furniture. The lead mover, Stephen, scolded me for not telling him that my furniture was IKEA and would need a different set of disassembly (how would I have known that? Perhaps the front office should know to ask that screening question). I also told the front office we had a large sectional and the movers did not arrive with shrink wrap and there are now multiple scratches on the our leather sofa. There were also multiple scratches on the furniture and our new house floor, which Stephen explained was due to "our poor quality of furniture," obviously not his moving skills. Thank you for insulting our hard earned purchases. He was then extremely frustrated throughout the move and let it widely known; granted, there was obviously more stuff than the movers expected (should not have been projected onto me), and we had difficulties with access to the townhouse due to cars being improperly parked (shocking, city govt was slow in responding). Our move took 9 hours and once the additional inventory was added, the cost was increased significantly. Do yourself a favor and hire another company. read more

Awful ! Mover Dudes were late the day I was scheduled to move. I then checked my email and saw a message (did not bother to call or text ) stating that they could not complete the move and I would have to reschedule. After speaking with them on the phone I was left in limbo as to whether they would complete the move or not. The employees at this outfit all have elevated job titles. So, the 20 calls I made to the office always got me in touch with some supervisor,director, coordinator or manager , none of which could guarantee me any satisfaction. My Mom need to move from a 3 floor house to a first floor apartment, and Venture Brothers(VB) took care of her beyond any and all of her and my expectations. VB set a rate that was well within our budget and even finished up fast enough that we actually received a partial refund for hours not needed. They were on-time, extremely professional, and motivated. I can honestly say I have never known a moving company that runs between boxes drop-off and pick-up points. Pleasantly surprised.. They arrived on time brought 4 guys to load our 35 years of furniture for a move to Danville. Brandon who was the guy in charge couldn't have been nicer and took care of our needs. They went above and beyond to make sure the move went smoothly even setting up the beds in the new location. The pricing was fixed ahead of time and didn't change upon arrival like some other horror stories. My only complaint is I didn't have more cash on me to give a larger tip to the crew! I will tell you why I give them an AAA+++++ 1) price 2) the crew was awesome 3) flexibility ( schedule ) 4) after care 5) Fast move We had some scheduling issues with our closing in July and they did EVERYTHING to accommodate our schedule. They moved us in 5 hours ! They damaged our new lawn with their truck, they wrote a check to have it repaired, no questions asked. On top of that .... this past weekend we moved some stuff from our place in FL and they noticed the little Penske truck yesterday on our driveway. My boss has used other movers before and not been pleased so with the reviews I read I was excited to find a company that seemed to do a good job. I messaged them through Yelp and got a quick response to both questions I had. Then after deciding on a move date I called Venture Brothers back, left a voicemail...no response. Messaged on their website...no response. Messaged again on Yelp...no response. Just tried to call and the voicemail box is full. Needless to say we have scheduled our move with another moving company. I am giving them 3 stars because at least they responded quickly to my first questions. read more

OMG yall. Do not look anywhere else, these guys are so freaking amazing. So I started off calling Moxie Movers as recommended by a friend. I found the guy to be rude and unhelpful, so I was over it when he told me he couldn't accomodate our date anyway. I figured I would ask my other friend Yelp when I found these guys. I hit em up, found them to be cheaper than Moxie and what do you know they are free on my date- score! They sent me a confirmation, to which I followed up with several additional pain in ars questions/requests. For example, we ended up purchasing furniture from someone and then had to pick up a piano from another location, they not only were willing to make the extra stops, but didn't charge anything for the extra travel time! WHHAAAAA??? I want to personally give a shout out to Walker (one of the owners), Matt and Stephen. These guys were so friendly, professional and on top of their game. Did i mention we live on a hill and they had to park at the bottom and haul everything in when it was about 95 degrees? No sweat (well...), these dudes got sh*t done! Walker started the company 20 some months ago and it's grown strictly through word of mouth. I can see why. Call them, you won't be disappointed. read more
