Annie falsified a petition on me in 2017-2018 and put me temporarily in a psych ward because her ex at the time wanted to marry me. Annie and her cousins Becky Medina, Hope Shepard, and Anita Gastelum all harassed me for 4-5 yrs constantly. It was disturbing of how they wouldn't grow up and move on. I have been signed up with moviework now for a couple years and have booked multiple gigs through their site. I have been a part of several local commercials and national print shoots!! I've had so much fun on every job I've booked through moviework! I've been able to work with and meet such amazing people on each shoot and many remain my friends to this day. Yes, you have to pay a small fee to apply to local casting calls but it's very well worth it. For example, just one print shoot I booked payed for my entire year of membership! And if you sign up for a years membership, you get a discounted rate, making it the best bang for your buck. Annie Medina and Patrice Farner run the company and I only have great things to say about their customer service. I've always been paid on time and the exact amount I was told. If you ever have an issue or question they are quick to respond to your inquiries. I've mostly dealt with Annie and she's so sweet and really cares about you. If you've been questioning if this is a legit casting service I can confirm it is. You might not book the first, second or even third casting call you apply for but don't give up because of that. There are so many different looks and ages casting directors need so you never know when you'll be exactly what they're looking for! read more

I signed up for MovieWork Now a couple months ago. I was immediately cast for an "Extra" role in a web series video. A few weeks later I was cast again as an industrial model for a Surrogate Study. I've submitted for several casting calls since then but haven't been selected. Just because someone signs up with MovieWork Now doesn't mean they're entitled to be cast in every (or any) role that is posted, but for those who stay consistent and actively apply to the casting calls my hope is it should work out. BUYER BEWARE!!! SCAM ALERT With six complaints to the Arizona Better Business Bureau and 6 unenthusiastic reviews on Yelp, I don't know how this company maintains it's BBB approval...the standards must be lower than I thought. The lead recrutier, Barbara Capri will spend 20 minutes talking more to you about who you are and your personality than about what the company actually does. Then she will say whatever pitch that will get you excited enough to sign a "no refund policy" contract. My advice: don't BUY into the hype. Don't pay them anything. And MAKE time to do your own research and to ask questions if for some strange reason you are persuaded to use their email services. I was totally suckered and given misinformation by this organization...I am new to Phoenix and this was the first cruel joke that got me. The second one was an envelope at the airport with "snake eggs"....but that's another story. I don't have much advice for people who want to be models, but trust me this is NOT the way! read more

Moviework is a serious business that is open to anyone who is interested in getting (as the name would imply) 'movie work.' Signing up for their website is not a guarantee of work but is a very good thing to pursue on the side if you have a flexible schedule or lots of free time. I made back my membership fee with money to spare on my first job, which I got 2 weeks after joining. Not every call I get is a huge money maker, but it's really up to me what I want to apply for. Also, the pay rates are not set by moviework, but rather by the clients. If I have any questions, the staff is always readily available and gets back to me right away and is very helpful and courteous! You don't have to be a supermodel, but you do have to have something marketable about you. It is show business, and it's not a delicate business, so if you don't have realistic expectations, you need not apply at all. But if you love being on a set, if you love making extra cash and if you have even a small amount of experience, I've found Moviework to be the most direct, no nonsense and friendliest place to find film and print work! read more

SCAM ALERT!! I joined this "agency" some time ago and signed up for what I thought was a month-to-month agreement. In all that time I received only 1 notification for casting in my area, a part for which I met all requirements, but was never cast. In order to "qualify" for this part, however, I had to pay a $15.00 minimum fee for 1 month's subscription, which I did. Nothing came of it and I thought that was that, I'm never using these people again! Now, however, I've come to discover that my credit card has just been charged another $15.00, for what I have no idea. Somehow they must think I have a monthly subscription on which they can auto-charge my credit card. I have contacted them and plan on calling the number they have listed. So this place has ads on Craigslist and others for "JOBS"!!!!! Yea right. You go into this interview where a crapload of people are waiting like sheep. This old lady calls you in and gives you a story about how you look like (insert actors name here), and you'd do great. They tell you to bring a photo, which ends up being completely irrelevant, because they charge you $300 dollars to join their company!!! Pay to work, isn't that the opposite of the concept of working??? They "shop around" your profile!! Right, more like put in a file. It's a total rip-off with no guaranteed work, just hope. Joined them back in the day, years ago . They may get you a spot here and there as an extra or an extra for a commercial. Major films will include extra work that is normally grunt work - - ie in AZ Summer Sun for about 12 hours for The Kingdom @ $50 a day. This is what is expected of non-union work well $64/ 8 hours but enough of that. They post every other day on Craigslist, which is very aggravating to know how many people get excited when reading the opportunities that await them. Many companies use these shady practices....however, the worst part is they sell you their photographer very bluntly and forcefully. They advice against going to another photographer. Being young and Naive I feel for the trap only to have professional photos taken by a 22 year old with no business taking headshots whatsoever. Poses with a chair, and the "thinking man" along other classic poses such as the one foot on the wall lean. Enough of that, the finished product was horrid and expensive.....Want the copies to print them else where? Well that was not an option back then, you had to get your copies through them. I went there, I should of never went it was a waste of time. They wanted $300 to start and I had to get new pics to, so that would cost more. There are a few agencies that are good in AZ. Both of my children are working actors in Arizona with a very reputable agent in Arizona. I registered them with Movie Work Now to increase their exposure to job opportunities. I created web accounts for both of them (thru MWN system) for a very nominal fee and within 2 weeks, both of my children were chosen as extras for a great paid commercial. Two weeks later, my daughter was selected for an additional paid commercial. I regularly monitor the casting opportunities online and there is continuous work for extras. The staff is so friendly and helpful and have done an excellent job preparing us for their time on set. Movie Work Now is an excellent avenue for increased opportunity for acting jobs in Arizona. read more

I went in to try something new, not really expecting much and within 5 minutes of my interview with Barbara I knew this was a total scam. Barbara looks like a typical grandmother and she will bring in a very nice soft spoken girl in her early 20's who is supposedly a booking agent, both of these tactics are meant to make you feel comfortable and trust them. DONT. Make no mistake, Barbara is a hustler. She told me I had a very marketable look and could be used for a variety of different roles (from other reviews it seems she tells everyone this). She starts guessing my ethnicity and telling me I have a good head on my shoulders. Again she is doing this to make me comfortable and let my guard down. Her entire speech sounded scripted as if she tells the exact same thing to every other person who walks in. She tells me they have an internet database and for 'only' a few hundred dollars I could have my own profile with professional headshots and a 60 second video resume (basically things you can do yourself). She then pulls out a pricing sheet and explains all the packages. As soon as she finishes she abruptly asks me "Which one would you like to purchase today?". To which I responded I wasnt able to buy anything right that second and I would need to talk it over with my family. She than says, like a true hustler, "Thats great because we also have family packages available". She is in the business 100% for the money and could not care less about her clients. Luckily I recognized immediately that I was being jerked around and did not fall for her tricks. There is no way to cancel your membership on the website, there is no phone number, and the number of listings they have is a trickle, at best. I just received a call from them to come on in! WooHoo the excitement is just bubbling out of every pore in my body..... well not really, I am just "Acting" excited about this company. I am not famous but I have been in a few productions, movies and such over the years. These folks dangle the carrot in front of your face and hope that your stupid enough to go for it. It seems there are a lot of people out there that do fall for the hype how else would they be in business making money off of people dreams. Sure they are doing it legally but lack ethics. They get a few people work here and there but for the majority it is wasted time. I have no plans to go into their office for anything. Those of you who have said they know of real agents and opportunity would you please provide names and numbers. I have called Phoenix SAG office to only get a recording that they are not doing much. As an actress in the Phoenix area, I can say I've booked more commercials through MovieWorkNow than anyplace else. The staff, especially Annie Medina, are super friendly, professional, and helpful. Although many people warn about having to pay to be on a database, I decided to try it and the nominal upfront investment has more than paid off. Every job I've booked is paid work. Another update. They send out casting calls with usually 24 hours or 2 days notice. Most are highly specific and not for a general type of person, (ie: must be a twin, or 12 years old, or 265 pounds etc...) The projects are either not paid, you just get to keep the product, or pays only 50 dollars for the day. You end up spending your own time, gas money to get to the job or audition. Not worth paying a fee to sign up with them for a minimal opportunity for work. read more

I just got off the Phone with barbera and heard the same thing everyone else is saying. Except, now there is a new movie in town and she is giving out full casting credits because the movie company is making exceptions. This is obviously impossible. None of this is legal and her rushing and telling you she has to get back to auditions so she doesn't have time to answer your questions is bull. Bottom line. You don't pay someone to represent you in the business up front. When they find you a job, then they get paid. There should be no up front costs. Also get your head shots done by local photographers, you can find some really great deals, and you get to keep the shots, not the company. Good luck everyone. read more

I will tell you upfront that this place is an outright scam. Do not buy into the false information that you need to pay someone to represent you. There is no such thing as a casting company. They claim to be a producer and state they cut out the middleman, i.e. agents and casting directors. I met with the head lady and she gave me a long speech of complete nonsense such as agents here don't take on anyone who is non-union and that photographers here don't do digital and will charge you $1500. These things are not true whatsoever. She was also flabbergasted that I had professional headshot. I'm not union yet but I recently lived in LA and was a member of the Actors' Network, a one-of-a-kind organization that provides solid advice and gives actors the power of knowledge not to be taken advantage of. I have a post-graduate certificate in Acting as well as years of training and I've actually been paid to act. I was glad to keep my wits about me and not fall for this. Please don't you fall for it. For your information, it is illegal to charge anyone for representation, nor any fees regarding that representation. Be smart and seek out a good agency, not a Jason Robert Powers clone, and self-submit to local casting directors. From what I've read on the internet, I guess there are two different functions to this business. I can't say anything about the casting end of it and what happens if you are doing a production and need casting or if you are talent and already have an agent. My experience was with a pitch for their talent database service, for lack of a better way to describe it. I was interested in being an extra as something fun to do, so I went in last week for an interview. I was open to doing whatever work I might fit the bill for, but I know I'm not a looker, and I didn't have any illusions about a career in the entertainment industry or even about making enough money to pay my bills. I met Barbara, and for the first part of the interview, I had no idea what she was getting at -- talk about strikes and the industry doing work in AZ because it's a right-to-work state, agents and/or photographers charging $1500 for photos that aren't digital, who gets the money when you work, etc. There was flattery that apparently everyone gets: I look young for my age, good potential for work, yadda, yadda, yadda. I'm waiting to hear something about how they handle work for extras, and then she starts in with the photo shoot, the database and the fees (about $325 to get started - a number of people report having to put up much more money after joining). And of course, she wants to get me started right now, take those photos right now, and for me to give them the money right now. The fact that they wanted the money that very minute was a huge red flag. Not only that, but it seemed weird that they'd want to do photos with whatever I walked in with for clothes and makeup - there was NO mention of doing photos when I scheduled the appointment for the interview. And after a few hundred dollars out of MY pocket, I have to go with how I look right now? Even with Photoshop, I don't think so! Their form clearly stated that they are not an agency, so all this database/marketing stuff they were supposedly going to do for me made it seem even more bizarre. When I told Barbara that money was tight right now, she asked if there was anyone who could give me the money and suggested a smaller amount to start the process. It was obvious that it was all about them getting the money before I had a chance to think things through. I told Barbara I had to get back to her about the money, and she said that it wasn't an open-ended offer (i.e. I needed to jump on this now). From what I've read in internet reviews, it's pretty much the offer everyone gets and has been getting for years! The whole "interview" was a disappointing waste of time, but at least that was all. I never gave them any money, and after reading many complaints about them, I'm glad I didn't. I recommend reading the complaints at Complaints Board and/or Rip-Off Report, too - the "interview" has been following the same hard-sell script for years (literally!), and my experience was just like that of a lot of other people. I'm not saying that what they are doing is not legit or anything like that - as I understand it, it's perfectly legit. They're capitalizing on people wanting to be on TV and in movies and all the unrealistic fantasies that go with that. They don't promise you work -- they sell you a way to supposedly get the work. And how well does it work? I don't know. I wonder how many people who sign up and pay the fees get enough work to recoup their costs and over what time frame. Reviewer Chris E. states "I've been given hopes of making some extra cash," but for his sake, I hope he will have some real cash from it someday and not just those hopes of making it. The pitch didn't work on me since I had much lower (realistic?) expectations before going in there. If I actually thought I would get more than an extra gig or two out of it, I may have taken the bait. If you have stars in your eyes going in there, expect to leave with fewer dollars in your wallet. read more

I am so very sorry to say that I think this is a scam. I have signed up and paid monthly dues for their service. I received many many emails for casting calls and I responded to them exactly how the website instructed me to. I never not once got a response. I have been working in the industry for 10 years and I have worked constantly but that was back east. Since moving to Phoenix I looked for a local service and this one came highly recommended but I can't even get a call back. I contacted the company via email because they never would pick up the phone expressing my concern and weeks later I received a short response stating that I should invest in more of their services like professional head shots or workshops and I will have a better shot at getting a gig. I have a BFA in film and have been in 10 Major films and according to these people I am not experienced enough to do background work. It is a complete waste of money and I feel like the biggest loser for doing that. It is a "poster" company and we have a LOT of them here in the US. I am a 40yo male. I have been associated with MWN for a few months, I have received steady offers for non-union parts for both extra and principle parts. I have attended three screenings and got work out of two. That is pretty good odds. I have done an internet documentary as well as a commercial with print ad/internet starring a high profile female race car driver. MWN seems to currently attract clients that produce widely seen content. There is good exposure here. The pay is admittedly not the best, but if you are not union, that has to be expected. If you educate yourself on what it takes to "pay your dues" you will realize that not everyone is going to "make it big" in this industry. This company supplies extras and stand-ins, it is up to you to take it to the next level. There is a modest fee if you do not supply your own headshots. I made that back on my first job. This is not a get rich quick occupation, rather a part time way to supplement your existing pay. Keep things in perspective people. ;o) read more

I've done many extra work in CA and in Georgia and even got my first speaking part on the (In the heat of the night) when it was airing, had a blast. I had a couple of different agents out there never had to pay them a dime for them to represent me I even had my own head shot. I was told (do not pay anyone for you to be in movies or commercials) If they want you bad enough they will pay you. Just keeping looking around and you will find the rite one. These agencies are a rip off totally out here preying on gullable people. I went to MWN about 5yrs ago and I can't believe they are still doing the same thing and people are falling for it. People beware they only want your money. I give them a one because I think it's a shame they are still getting away with this ripping people off, it's all for the money thats it. read more
